Welp. This is a screen grab of a few tweets Angie Miller favorited after Burnell Taylor was eliminated from American Idol Thursday night. She might be a little upset that Lazaro Arbos–who has not only had poor performances through most of the competition, but also trouble remembering words and learning choreography– was not only spared elimination, but  landed a spot the Top 3.

Angie also favorited this tweet, from @CarolG1346 23h “@LazaroAI12 stole @BurnellAI12 spot!! Done watching #idol! Hope @AngieAI12 wins. #lazaroneedstogo”

That there is frustration and annoyance shared among the finalists regarding Lazaro’s ability to garner votes, despite his shortcomings, should be no surprise. That the Idols are so public about their feelings? I wasn’t expecting that. Dissing fellow Idols in public–no matter how much they seem to deserve it–never goes down well with viewers. Although, I’m thinking Angie may not have expected fans to be digging through her favorites. But they do Angie. Having fans is like having an army of private detectives constantly on your tail.

But the singer–who also made the Top 3 along with Kree Harrison- wasn’t exactly hiding her feelings Thursday night when she tweeted for public consumption, “Honestly, I’m shocked with America’s votes. This competition will NOT be the same without @BurnellAI12.” So. Yeah.

Burnell has been very diplomatic in post-boot interviews when asking questions about Lazaro, but he tweeted love to his fellow finalists here “@CandiceAI12 @AmberAI12 @KreeAI12 @AngieAI12 @JanelleAI12 Miss Y’all!”  Maybe failing to tag Lazaro was an oversight…or maybe not.

LOL!!! Noone has respect for Lazaro. I don’t blame them tho. He derailed the guys trio which hurt Devin & Burnell. And he didn’t do Angie any favors… I find Angie’s twitter favs & Burnell tweet halarious, I don’t think it will effect them…… Lazaro needs to 1. Memorize his lyrics 2. Learn to read a teleprompter

  • http://twitter.com/Loxodonta_Stylz Rico Suricata

Lol. I have a feeling that this just might get uglier…!

  • http://twitter.com/Loxodonta_Stylz Rico Suricata

    Lol! Love this!

  • vdawg

You can only blame TPTB for allowing Lazaro to get to the voting rounds. I don’t thing anyone on the show likes Lazaro still being there.

  • Larc

I can’t blame Angie if she isn’t happy that Burnell was eliminated instead of Lazaro. I’m not a bit happy about it either.

  • http://twitter.com/cindydesigns Cindy Moniz

Oh, to be a fly on the wall in the American Idol HQ. I have a feeling something goes down behind the scenes, too. Maybe?

But Angie should be careful because Lazaro just might gain more pity votes feeling bad for him.

  • tigervixxxen

What someone favorites is news? Geez.

  • http://twitter.com/Stooch101 Stooch

If she had retweeted the comment than I’d say that’s probably in poor taste. Because she favorite’d them, although not the smartest thing, is like whatever. She favorite’d what we are all thinking lol This might offend some but it doesn’t bother me, too each their own I guess :)

  • HermeticallySealed

Blame the people voting. ::shrug:: Just more High Schoolish drama.

  • Last Laugh Lane

Eh I wouldn’t take too much of it, Angie’s favorited 2 or 3 of my own tweets to her. But it wouldn’t shock me that the others feel this way, especially Candice & Amber who grew close to Burnell, and Angie is pals with them. And I get the sense that Lazaro has somewhat of an offscreen attitude and doesn’t seem to be close to the girls as much… just what I’ve noticed.

  • lizland

She has the right to an opinion (and her opinion is correct.) And who knows, maybe he is a jerk in real life. Just because you have a speech impediment doesn’t mean your are a nice person. Maybe I just don’t like whiners and complainers.

I’d rather see this. Sometimes I feel the Idols are so guarded they are automatons with no personality.

  • elliegrll

The problem isn’t that she may not feel like Lazaro deserves the spot, it’s that she’s making those feelings public. One of the biggest sins of the show is publicly trashing your fellow contestants. It’s just not something that is done, and in the end it just hurts everyone involved. This group is going to have a tough enough time using the show as a launching pad, drawing people to the tour, and building up an AI fanbase.

  • vd88

Oh yes don’t you love it when a tweet becomes big news.

  • janeeyre

While I as am surprised as the next person that Lazaro is still on, I am thinking perhaps his strenth and grace facing adversity has something to do with it. Lets face it, the best singer doesn’t always win. That said, why did Nigel and co put him in the top ten if thy dont’t think he has a shot? As a joke? He has been nothing but kind on the camera, even though Jimmy, the judges, and semingly now the contestants rip into him. Although I have not voted for him, I now plan on casting all my votes his way. Not because heis the best singer, but he most fits my definition of what an American Idol should be. Someone with guts and integrity. I’m through with voting for Angie. Her tweets just backfired on her.

  • irockhard

This season is a total disaster, it is, IMO, now officially the worst season ever, worse than S9. My goodness there is no chemistry in this cast, they’re a miserable bunch who call each other out and not support each other. There’s no “feel good” vibe, fun and closeness in this cast like we saw with previous seasons like S10. They might as well cancel the summer tour.

  • bridgette12

Angie and a few more on this season of Idol need to grow up and act like an adult. If she wants to be mad at anyone, be mad at the voters, don’t be a bad sport and create more drama than you have to. Lazaro, even though he deserved to be sent home weeks ago, is not responsible for his votes or anyone elses. If no one has told her, all she’s going to do is galvanize people to vote more for Lazaro and less for her. If her feelings are hurt, she needs review the many seasons of Idol and see Idols who actually had reason to be upset and yet they acted like mature adults and turned the other cheek. She needs to learn it’s okay if the show throws someone under the bus, it’s not okay for another Idol to do it.

  • http://twitter.com/MoranKTA flog gnaw

I was never really a fan of Angie, but I like her now! You go girl. I’d say that Lazaro isn’t the most likable person behind the scenes either; he seems like a diva.

  • girlygirl

I’m surprised she wasn’t told by TPTB to delete the tweet. She’s entitled to her own opinion/feelings, but it’s still not something I think TPTB would want her to tweet

I don;t know if the others dislike Lazaro personally, but it does seem like they are frustrated that he keeps getting voted through despite poor performances and his refusal to even learn the lyrics or choreography for the group numbers.

  • justmefornow

Boy is that ever the truth, and you couldn’t pay me to go that snooze fest of a summer tour.
Since I have no interest in this group, I don’t care either way what Angie or any of the others feel about Lazaro. But I have to say her twitter behavior isn’t very “Christian-like”, lol.

  • JosieX

About Burnell, I would guess that he thinks it would be icky to say “miss you” to another guy. That is just another possibility and I think a likely one.

  • bridgette12

He might be a jerk, but she’s coming across as a whiny bitch. If these Idols all tweeted what they honestly felt about each other, it would be war on that show. Probably every season there’s been conflict, I’m sure everyone didn’t like everyone else, but the Idols in the previous seasons, kept it inhouse and didn’t let the world know.

  • http://twitter.com/1outside Maj

Maybe she doesn’t even realise that her favourite tweets are for all to see. As for the tweet abt the show not being the same after Burnell’s gone – I see nothing wrong with it whatsoever.

  • janeeyre

I agree with you. Its the voters who kept him there, and her comments just make her look angry with Lazaro and make herself look conceited. I also agree about past idols handle it much more maturely when lesser singers stayed. Idol should not have put him there if they didnt wqnt him to be a potential winner. Did they stack the deck with boring guys so a “wgwg” wouldn’t win again? Maybe he will win the whole thing because people like the underdog, and despise bullys.

  • EB

Sheesh. If I were on the show, I wouldn’t even want to be on Twitter, or I would just be super cautious about everything knowing how quickly people zero in on stuff.

It shows a lack of maturity and sense on Angie’s part to be so easily riled up by fans like that, enough to make it public, and Burnell too if he did intentionally leave out Lazaro. He could have just direct-messaged the girls, or text messaged them to say he misses them. Tweeting it, kinda stupid.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=34307244 Shana Collier

I agree. There is nothing wrong with her being sad that Burnell is gone or even being surprised by the vote. But some of those tweets that mention Lazaro specifically make her look pretty bad, IMO.

  • Miz

Not just that, but he’s always quick to blame anything and anybody other than himself. I lost it last Wed. when he couldn’t even take very very minor criticism from Keith on his shirt. ‘It’s not MY fault.’

  • MyDailyComment

If they don’t like each other, what will they do on tour??

  • LeahKittyS

I agree, though I think it’s silly he would be grossed out by that. Even Devin said he still loves his brothers, Burnell and Lazaro, after their train-wreck trio last week. I think they were all just acting out of emotion over the results and didn’t mean to be hurtful. Notice Amber wasn’t a part of this; she is Lazaro’s best friend on the show, I doubt she would ever do something like this. As heartbroken as she was losing Burnell, she would have been crushed if it had been Lazaro, too. There’s probably been some hugging and making up since this came out.
However, I will say this knocked my home-state girl down a peg or two in my book. I would expect such a faithful Christian to exhibit more patience and compassion toward her supposed brother.

  • http://twitter.com/noanaaman Noa Na’aman

i saw some fans who tweeted both Angie and Lazaro about her favorites. so now both of them know about it…

  • irockhard

Can we please create a time machine and go back to S10? The last FUN season?!

  • http://twitter.com/MoranKTA flog gnaw

    Lol at this deluded post.

  • LeahKittyS

I don’t know, I had a ton of fun with last season’s cast. The recordings were awesome, the tour was a blast, and their online videos were hilarious.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Laura-Corn/100001659368831 Laura Corn

Wondering how producers feel about what all their manipulation of this seasons show have brought to bear. Pretty freakin funny you ask me. All this to keep a WGWG from winning has totally turned S12 into a laughing stock.

  • vd88

Right that’s the one thing I can’t forgive Lazaro forgetting lyrics when they’re on the teleprompter like seriously what are you doing? All else fails Lazaro, look at the damn camera. lol

  • lollamape

Just because most of casts generally hate for one contestant doesn’t mean they all hate each other. Way to generalize!!

  • EB

Unless everyone gets over it and learns to get along, it’s going to be the summer of the cold-shoulder for Laz. Hopefully the crowds (if there are significant crowds at this year’s tour) won’t be nasty to him too.

  • http://twitter.com/MoranKTA flog gnaw

Lazaro doesn’t just come off as a jerk, he comes off as a pompous, full blown diva. A bigger diva than all of the girls put together tbh.

  • Miz

I wouldn’t want to be on the boys’ bus.

  • LeahKittyS

It’s not that they don’t like each other; it’s just the piling stress of the competition is messing with their heads. In the beginning they would all watch movies and have dance parties and stuff together, but now as the crowd gets smaller, the house feels emptier and the mood goes down. The same thing happened in Season 6; the contestants kind of got mad when Sanjaya outlasted some better ones, but it was back to a big old love fest on tour (that was my very first Idol tour). They’ll be just fine come summertime when one of these ladies wears the crown with pride.

  • irockhard

If he finds that icky that’s just lame IMO, past male contestants used to flaunt their bromances. Or is he homophobic? I hope not cause then that’s just sad.

  • tibitibis

Well, even if she has her reasons, i think she cross the line and that was just rude , especially for Angie , so if she goes next week she’ll don’t be missed

  • Wfish88

I don’t get it. You want the judges/Jimmy to be kind to him for being off pitch most of time, forgetting his words, ect… The definition of an American Idol is not to make excuses like “I didn’t know the song”. He is way over his head in this competition & the music business will eat him up once he’s out of the IDOL bubble.

  • Mateja Praznik

Um, what’s the big deal? So, it looks like most if not all finalists don’t like Lazaro for whatever reason and they are not afraid to show it.

Everyone else seem reasonable friendly with each other.

  • Wfish88

    I miss Haley…

  • EB

I think it’s because he just doesn’t like Lazaro, haha.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matteo-Rodrigo/1340430528 Matteo Rodrigo

Lazaro is not going to win. Period. End of Story. So calm down. I might be mistaken but isnt this upcoming week the last week to use the save…Since they have to use it by Top5….So the question is whether this is a free week for all or not. Im 100% sure that if a girl were in the bottom – no matter who she is, shed get saved. The question is if its Lazaro, do they give him another week or is he gone to give Nicki her top5 girls…Lazaro has been getting by on his backstory and great looks. I havent seen anybody write about this but his profuse sweating is also noteworthy. I dont blame him for that t hough cuz its anxiety and hot lights and Im a person who sweats profusely if Im out in hot weather for 2 seconds…But this season is so boring already…I was surprised Janelle wasnt higher as she seems the most likeable. But does anyone else smell Nigel manipulation. Why suddenly did they reveal the top 3 again if they hadnt done that since week 1…There has to be a reason..>Well to let people know Lazaro went into the top3 and to let them know t hat Candice was not – so they have to keep voting for her. We want the rest of the show to be a surprise so stop telling us results…It didnt work for XF so why is it going to work for you when your ratings are already falling. Let there be a surprise like Candice being in the B3 or Lazaro surviving and a girl going hom when the save is no longer in play. Stop trying to manipulate the outcome or the judges comments- Youre going to get your girl winner so enough. The producers have to get the blame for having 4 guys in a row leave. That is not a coincidence. The whole thing in my opinion ruins Idol’s reputation even more since there seems to be so much heavy handedness

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matteo-Rodrigo/1340430528 Matteo Rodrigo

Blame the viewers – not Lazaro. His backstory can only go so far. It seems he lost a lot of confidence after the judges slammed him. And god help him if hes turned on the internet

  • lollamape

She didn’t tweet it.. she favorited someone else tweets.

  • Wfish88

This^. I have a feeling he wasn’t bullied in school because of his studder, he seems to have an attitude

  • lollamape

    IKR?

  • janeeyre

Hmm, casting insults, just like Angie. guess you feel better about yourself now, huh?

  • JosieX

I wonder if TPTB made Nicki delete that RT she did from a fan that said something like it looked like Nicki wanted to jump over the table and hit Angie in the head. Upon a quick look, it looks like it’s gone, although the one that said it looked like Nicki wanted to say “bitch” to Angie is still there. Maybe I just missed it.

I don’t think it is smart to “favorite” tweets from fans that are critical of other contestants, but I can’t get mad about it. To be fair to Angie, she has seen an Idol judge do much worse on twitter. Way to be a role model to these kids, Nicki.

  • irockhard

I miss all of them, even the ones I didn’t like.

  • Sue tiedemann

I would say angie is the best singer. Although she seems to flaunt her beauty. Wish she acted more like Janelle.

  • janeeyre

Well some people obviously like him because he was in the top 3. I think they shouldnt have put him in the top ten at all. It seems as if they did it as a joke, and that bothers me.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matteo-Rodrigo/1340430528 Matteo Rodrigo

Some of the girls also seem to feel theyre entitled to winning because of what producers did. As most Idol contestants, they are all dillusional and think theyre the next Kelly or Carrie or JHud. personally, I dont see any star quality up there or any contestant who is knocking it out of the ballpark every week or whom I hear and recognize instantly. I see a lot of singers there who have been overpraised (as usual) and then feel like they are better than they are and start believing their hype. The winner (and maybe runnerup ) will get a big boost but no guarantees….Janelle could get a country album if she goes far (and if she writes music) because country seems to be a successful avenue for Idol but shes just another blonde girl. And the music industry is harder than ever before. The rest? They just dont excite me. Kree and Candice are not showing much personality to me…and I dont see Amber as the next whitney houston. I often think my hearing or my TV is not working right

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matteo-Rodrigo/1340430528 Matteo Rodrigo

Idol contestants conceited and getting big heads? Heaven forbid? They should sit down the finalists and show them videos of the 100+ Idol finalists that have faded into obscurity…And they should realize their roads will likely be even tougher since so few people are watching them so their built in fan bases are smaller than ever. Ill be curious to see if the tour does as well as previous years.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matteo-Rodrigo/1340430528 Matteo Rodrigo

Neither of them was going to win so whats a week here and there. He was in the first slot wasnt he? Thats never a good sign

  • LeahKittyS

That’s another point I’d like to bring up. The season isn’t nearly over yet; we have 6 more rounds of competition until the finale. And the American Idol Horror Story isn’t over yet. I’ve been following a voting source, and it has correctly predicted the first four eliminations of the finals. This time around they are calling it for Lazaro. Even if it’s wrong this time, my somewhat psychic intuition is placing him in 4th overall. Either way he doesn’t crack the Top 3. So let’s lay off the panic button and see how it plays out.

  • EB

The point is that they don’t need to show it. It just makes them look petty, because we get it, he has overstayed his welcome. They don’t have to like him, it is common knowledge that they are frustrated with him.

So they can find it within themselves to have a little tact and holster their opinions at least until the season is over, and that would be for their own sake.

  • Miz

Are we watching the same show?

  • LeahKittyS

I don’t mind her “flaunting her beauty;” I’d probably be the same way if I went on. But I agree, I am finding Janelle and Kree much more likable. Kree is Angie’s roommate; maybe some of her warm fuzzies should rub off on her for her own good.

  • http://twitter.com/Stooch101 Stooch

Like how Janelle tweeted negative statement about Nicki’s judging, we must hold all to the same standard. Especially since Angie only favorite’d the tweets. This should also be said, Janelle’s my fav this season

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matteo-Rodrigo/1340430528 Matteo Rodrigo

They do all cry on elimination night though. Ive never understood it. Like Simon said, you want to win dont you? You should be happy every week that its not you. You should be happy the save wasnt used so it possibly can be used on you. OTherwise you become Pia…The save used before you and then you got cut. Yes you can become life long friends but you should want to win the damn show. If not, Idol should put in a new rule. If any of the saved contestants want to take the place of the person with lower votes, the first one to hit a red button goes home. That will be better than a judges save

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matteo-Rodrigo/1340430528 Matteo Rodrigo

I never understood the tours either…Who wants to see a bunch of nobodys singing cover tunes?

  • EliteHalien

Haley especially, but as has been said…I just miss season 10 and 11. :(

  • tibitibis

In my opinion this group behaviour can show more that what someones are looking . is arrogance ? prejudice? reality ? idk , but i don’t like what the girl and the last, now well deserved eliminated guy did …plain rude …they’re forgeting that the voice is just a part of what people are looking at the time they cast a vote for them. IDK Lazaro , i think he can do better if he arrive to control his nerves, but if they have problems because his personality they should keep that for them and the producers at least until the competition is over.

  • jms

I don’t think it’s that big a deal, but this season just makes me feel like I have to shower. Can it end already? The talent is better than S9, but the overall feeling of the season is a hell of a lot worse.

  • EliteHalien

Looks like the 3 Season curse remains in tact….

  • LeahKittyS

He’s not homophobic. This was one of his earliest tweets: “Fat, skinny, tall, short, gay, straight, black or white I look at y’all the same I love everybody we’re a family.”

  • Anny_nanny

So they only have to James. ))) The rest of the season, in fact, is not interesting for them.

    @ irockhard & justmefornow:
You can go where you wish, if you promise to drop off Joshua and Jacob in the 50-s – boys need to make a career.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matteo-Rodrigo/1340430528 Matteo Rodrigo

PRob why they announced he was in the top 3 – get people to vote for the others or realize their pity votes are putting him way up there. who knows? Id LMAO if hed win the whole thing – I know thats never goona happen. Maybe VFTW is having an effect. He is the only cute boy left. Hes Hispanic. He has an inspirational story. Unfortunately his attitude (watch his claps – it says a lot) and his forgetting lyrics and being ho-hum and acting like he doesnt even want to be there is not helping his cause. Id rather see him and Jimmy mud wrestle than hear these people sing next week

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matteo-Rodrigo/1340430528 Matteo Rodrigo

    cash their checks?

  • EliteHalien

Definitely better than Season 3 where all of the cast can at least sing on pitch – which couldn’t be said for Andrew Garcia, Katie Stevens, and Tim Urban.

But, I agree that the 3 seasons curse remains in tact :( I had such high hopes at the start of the season.

  • http://twitter.com/sara1411A sara

calling this “having an opinion” is beyond me. Lets call it what it is, being a total bit$h.
    When I thought I couldn’t dislike her more…

  • Miz

He’d just say the words were too fast on the teleprompter or his name wasn’t in big enough letters.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matteo-Rodrigo/1340430528 Matteo Rodrigo

They put him in the top 20 no? America put him in the top 10. And theres always contestants in the top 10 who dont belong there..

  • LeahKittyS

I didn’t. I’m quite superstitious and knew well about the 3rd Season Curse. This is why I’m hoping the show ends before it reaches Season 15, or that Season 15 will be the very last.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matteo-Rodrigo/1340430528 Matteo Rodrigo

Yep the show has lost a lot of credibility and not sure it serves anyone to have top 5 of one gender…Years ago they went so far to balance the genders of making sure there were top 5 boys/girls so the top 10 was balanced instead of being all about singing. What if Girl #6 was better than Boy #4 and now she is out and cant try out again.

  • http://twitter.com/HighTensions Jake W.

Totally agree! As far as we know, he could be a big ass behind the scenes to the contestants.

  • EliteHalien

Maybe she is angry at Lazaro. Maybe Burnell is as well. We don’t know what Lazaros’s like behind the scenes, so maybe she has a problem with him staying over Burnell

(I still agree that it’s best she shut her mouth whilst voting is continuing. I mean

This has no connection to Lazaro but apparently according to Melinda Ademi, some of the contestants are very fake in front of the camera.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matteo-Rodrigo/1340430528 Matteo Rodrigo

I dont see the tweets as a big deal..Unless I misunderstood, she favorited some tweets. She didnt send out one saying I wish Lazaro would have gone instead of Burnell. I think way too much is being made of this. But what do producers care? They need to gin up some controversy or something to stop the free fall

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matteo-Rodrigo/1340430528 Matteo Rodrigo

When you start missing Kara and Ellen, youre in trouble

  • EliteHalien

I’m normally not that superstitious but I might be starting to buy into this theory. My only consolation is I’m hoping this lackluster season causes major changes next year.
    #ReplaceTheProducers

  • irockhard

Actually they have holster their opinions until the end of the tour if there’s still gonna be one. A bickering lineup is not gonna sell tickets and fill seats.

  • irockhard

Well that’s a relief. OK but I still think guys who find it icky are lame.

  • lovesickheroine

    Whats a 3 season curse?

  • halo9125

Don’t these kids get schooled, so to speak, in the proper way to handle social media interactions? With their twitter handles plastered all over the screen each time they perform, is it any wonder that their twitter accounts are subject to close scrutiny? What Angie did was petty and childish, and really is not very Christian of her.

I don’t care for the entire vibe I get from this year’s cast. If I had to stop watching for the rest of the season I’d have no problem with that.

  • LeahKittyS

The curse is this: every third season is weak. It appears to be holding up.

  • EliteHalien

Season 3, 6 and 9 particularly have been noted as some of Idol’s weaker years.

Obviously Season 9 had a whole host of other problems, but I still think the theory is holding up somewhat.

There have been decidedly less great Idol moments – I’d personally wager there haven’t been any except for Angie’s You Set Me Free

I mean this time last year we’d already had “Sweet Dreams” “I Will Always Love You, and of course “Whole Lotta Love”

  • LeoCS

The tour probably is gonna be the smallest ever (even smaller than S9) so they won’t have to worry for a long time about hating each other

  • LeahKittyS

Superstition, Movin’ Out, I Will Always Love You, Runaway Baby, Gunpowder and Lead, Whole Lotta Love, Piano Man, Master Blaster…so many great performances had happened by now.

  • irockhard

Well the contestants get to make some decent money and some will never get a chance to play arenas otherwise. So it’s for the cash and the experience. But TBH I’d rather they can the tour altogether and the contestants get straight to work on their albums.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Li-Wright/100001622678180 Li Wright

Lazaro = XFactor 2012′s Christopher Maloney. Both sing ballads all the time, extra cheesy, and well disliked by their cast mates

  • LeoCS

Angie probably saw the buzz her favorite list created and until now she didn’t delete these favorites. I’m starting to like this girl.

  • EliteHalien

Thank You I named the ones that came to mind quickly:

I’d also add New York State of Mind, Stay With Me, When A Man Loves A Woman , and One and Only.

    Memories of Season 11 :P :(

I’ve never said I miss you to another male friend and I’m not homophobic. To use the term “a man’s man” just doesn’t say those things. I think he just like’s the ladies, but if he doesn’t like Lazaro such is life :)

  • LeahKittyS

Yes, in my opinion and yours. But a lot of other people think they’re boring, unfortunately. And the men aren’t doing much for the show, especially since all but one of them have been “terminated.”

Burnell did not sing well the other night; he was lousy, in fact. I even thought Lazaro was better. Lazaro’s singing was no where near as problematic as his forgetting the lyrics, which impacts other performances. Burnell deserved to go – so does Lazaro. His time will come.

  • LeahKittyS

If my source is accurate for the fifth week in a row, this is his time. And no way in hell will they save him. If the Save gets shelved for the season Nigel and Ken will think of something to make up the extra week. That will be amusing.

  • Miz

It’s no big deal to me.

  • EliteHalien

I wouldn’t argue weak in terms of talent, but weak in terms of the theme weeks/song choices, and just overall production.

This panel particularly lacks chemistry this year, and I absolutely hated the Lopez/Tyler/Jackson panel, but I would gladly have a lack of critiques instead of passive agressive tension between Minaj and Carey, as Mariah’s ramblings.

  • http://twitter.com/Stooch101 Stooch

That why as the saying goes “men are from Mars and Women are from Venus” :)

  • LeahKittyS

Scotty, Lauren, Haley, James, Casey, Paul, Pia…man, that was a great year…and then the year after that we had Phillip, Jessica, Joshua, Hollie, Skylar, Colton…honestly, I don’t know who I’ll be attached to when this season wraps up.

  • EliteHalien

Don’t forget Naima. Girl knew how to keep her performances entertaining. Hell she could certainly teach this year’s bunch a thing or two.

  • bridgette12

I don’t think Lazaro is going to win and certainly don’t think he deserves to. But immature and petty behavior by people like Angie is only going to help him.

  • http://twitter.com/sara1411A sara

    so true

  • Anny_nanny

“Vienna”, Whitney’s week. And I LOVE “In The Air Tonight”, not to mention some songs of the girls of Top-25…

Damn! Where the time machine? Don’t leave without me! LOL

  • http://twitter.com/ReboundsMom ReboundsMom

Angie’s certainly got a right to her opinion, but if her opinion is that it’s unfair for Lazaro to beat Burnell, it’s incredibly naive. Has she never watched Idol before? Is she not aware that there’s always someone in the finals who’s seen as “in over his/her head” and that s/he outlasts more talented people by a few rounds? Woe to anyone who still sees this show as merely a singing competition after all these years. It’s as real as the WWE, and if anybody should know better, it’s someone who’s actually participating.

  • Tommyo2000

Just speculation, but maybe now that they see Lazaro 24 hours a day, they see somone milking and manipulating the public, while other with more talent are getting booted… Tha narrative fits with Devin’s actions, Burnell not tweeting Lazaro, and Angie’s actions … Perhaps he is not the sympathetic puppy dog that the public thinks they are voting for …

  • http://twitter.com/CanadianLady2 CanadianLady

I don’t understand how they can know how people will vote if the voting isn’t manipulated.

  • http://twitter.com/nsideguy25 Chris

Happens every season. However it is frustrating to see. Lazaro may be a great person but isn’t making friends.

  • LeahKittyS

I don’t know, Amber seems to still think he’s a cool guy. That’s why I’m careful what I say about him; I don’t want to hurt her feelings. I remember when people would say mean things about Jessica last year (calling her fake, entitled, etc.) Elise and Skylar and some others would take to Twitter and say things like “Please don’t talk about my sister like that.” She may come to defend him if they get too nasty.

  • Tommyo2000

There is a total lack of chemistry this season … last year you had Phillip and Heejun, Joshua and Hollie, They tried to make a Colton and Skylar thing, Jessica and Joshua’s duet which they just fed off each other … Prior season Haley and Casey … the closest thing I have seen was last week Burnell and Candice … 4 judges suck btw also …

  • LeahKittyS

The votes they measure don’t count towards the actual show. How it works is, people who vote on the show submit votes into this poll based on a 1-(however many there are) ranking list. The weakest link is listed as “Choice eliminated in the first round.” So far, this method has correctly predicted the eliminations of Curtis, Paul, Devin, and Burnell, and now Lazaro is the “choice eliminated in the first round.” Let’s see if it holds up.

  • blackberryharvest

I hope this doesn’t end up hurting her.

I have actually heard Lazaro can be a jerk behind the scenes.

  • chillj

I thought Lazaro was a jerk in front of the scenes. He was fine right up until he called Randy Boo, then it was over.

  • http://twitter.com/CanadianLady2 CanadianLady

    Ah, okay, thanks.

  • http://twitter.com/CanadianLady2 CanadianLady

I thought he was overreacting from the week before when he shed a few tears and had headlines everywhere saying he had a meltdown and broke down and so forth. He said after that he’d never cry on national TV again, so I thought he was going to the other extreme of “Act like I don’t care.” Not an unusual reaction.

  • http://twitter.com/nsideguy25 Chris

But let’s be honest, when contestants look happy or try to hide a smirk it doesn’t look good.

  • http://twitter.com/nsideguy25 Chris

Ever notice how these seasons also contain some of the biggest cliques?

  • chillj

That is entirely possible (although I think he overdid a bit). We can’t know what is going on with these people. It also has occurred to me that the most nervous person is also the most likely to forget lines.

  • Anny_nanny

LOL! I received this message as a “New” already three times in a row. I don’t understand, is it a system error or is it repeated the message?

  • http://twitter.com/hawkscool8 John S

So because she favorited a tweet, its the worst season ever? I dont get it.

  • irockhard

Loved her, she was one of my faves that season.

  • irockhard

Agree. This season is just has a waft of iffyness.

  • chillj

If I were Angie, I would be a little put out with Lazaro, because his lapses in their duet reflected on her. At the time, I wasn’t even certain whose mistake it was, and a week earlier, Devin went home after another lapse by Lazaro. I’m sure he must be a little toxic to singers who must anticipate performing with him: that seems a natural reaction. He could be the son of god, but if I had to perform with him he wouldn’t be at the top of my hit parade.

  • http://twitter.com/MoranKTA flog gnaw

It was probably a mix of both.

  • blackberryharvest

There’s been crying every week from the contestants during an elimination, I think there’s more drama within the boys, not the girls.

Unless Lazaro wins(which he won’t), this season will be better than 9. For sure.

  • http://twitter.com/MoranKTA flog gnaw

Yes, because that post is all sorts of lulzy.

  • lollamape

Right? still remember when James didn’t follow fellow female contestants except Lauren, awkward Lauren and Scotty duet on tour, James rude comment to Haley on behind the scene package video, Stefano Haley love hate relationship..

    Season 10 best evah!!

  • http://twitter.com/hawkscool8 John S

Do you ever have anything positive to say unless its about James? Lmao.

  • blackberryharvest

I would go to the tour! I’m sure it will be amazing!

  • http://twitter.com/CanadianLady2 CanadianLady

Totally. And the more you feel pressure to get it right, the more likely you are to blow it. I’ve seen good students totally blank out on exams they studied like crazy for.

  • irockhard

Best evah! Casey, Haley and Stefano attended James wedding and Haley recently tweeted that she hung out with James and Casey. Scotty’s sister and her boyfriend went to see one of James recent shows. I still follow these kids and they’re still close and keep in touch.

  • blackberryharvest

If this was last year, people would say there were no “moments” yet. The moments aren’t created until next year lol. By this time next year, people will say that we haven’t had any moments like Candice.

  • Falls Guy

You are aware she actually hasn’t said anything…right?

  • blackberryharvest

I think the Steven/JLo panel actually had chemistry. I mean, they weren’t all “besties” but they got along and there was nothing awkward between them. I thought they gelled pretty well together. There’s no real chemistry on this panel.

  • http://twitter.com/MoranKTA flog gnaw

If the contestants cry when Lazaro is eliminated, we all know it will be tears of joy :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=579290324 Michael Bishop

No she’s not. She simply designated a few comments that resonated her feelings, notice she didn’t offer an opinion – one way or another publicly. She IS demonstrating tact.

  • yclept

All I can say about this is *yawn*. Having your twitter favorites being revealed wont hurt anyone in this competition. It won’t lead to more sympathy for Lazaro, it won’t lead to less votes for Angie, etc. Angie was very diplomatic after Lazaro completely screwed up the duet….that is something that truly can hurt you…being a part of a duet that ends up as a train wreck. That said, being that I am a bit competitive, I would want an obvious pawn to stay in the competition. A bit like Survivor … Keeping terrible players around helps you win. Of course, it can backfire…as Russell vs. Natalie proved on Survivor.

  • Falls Guy

Probably because she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body and has no clue what people are talking about.

  • http://twitter.com/monicathe11 Marie

I find this whole Lazaro debate very entertaining. Lazaro for the win!!!

  • http://twitter.com/MoranKTA flog gnaw

This season is better than the last three *kanye shrug*

  • http://twitter.com/RyanJames2298 Ryan

I don’t understand how it’s taken like 3 days for the majority of people to notice, but whatever. You could tell by the look on all of the contestants faces when Lazaro was announced in the top 3 that they were mad. As well as Angie’s favorites and Burnell’s tweet earlier, Devin tweeted Candice earlier today that he can’t wait to see her at the finale when she or one of the other girls wins. Plus in Paul Jolley’s idology interview his mood became much more serious and sarcastic when talking about Lazaro. The contestants (other than Amber) obviously are not fond of him and neither are a large number of idol viewers.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=579290324 Michael Bishop

    Grace? Lazaro?

  • jcabby

This panel makes me miss J.Lo and Steve.

  • blackberryharvest

Here is how I see it:

There have been cycles for every 3 years.

Seasons 1, 4, 7, and 10-Everything feels fresh and new. Changes are made from the previous “weak season” and the show rebounds. Usually popular winners come from these seasons.

Seasons 2, 5, 8, and 11-Strong seasons and typically the worst fan war seasons-although 11 didn’t have major fan wars.

Seasons 3, 6, 9, 12-Highly criticized and usually don’t have variety of genres. Poor tour sales(although it remains to be seen for 12) and results in a reboot after the season is over. Often called the “worst seasons ever.”

  • http://twitter.com/MoranKTA flog gnaw

He isn’t, even Melinda Ademi said “America doesn’t really see how certain people are.”

  • lollamape

Who cares about their relationship after the show. As blackberryharvest said Pia and Stefano were fighting for a while and now ended up as a good friends. So casey, haley, stefano attended james wedding doesn’t mean that they were really getting along on the show especially Haley and James

And based on season 10 Burnell, Angie, Lazaro maybe can be a good friends later too. Who knows??

Way too petty to said this season is the WORST season evah based on their tweets and relationship tbh (IMO)

  • http://twitter.com/RyanJames2298 Ryan

I wouldn’t go that far, but it’s close. Everyone except Lazaro honestly did seem like good friends. The contestants even seemed to love Cutis! It’s just that the further Lazaro goes in the season the more he hurts the overall opinion of it

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=579290324 Michael Bishop

I enjoyed season 3: Diana DeGarmo, Fantasia, LaToya London, Jennifer Hudson.

  • girlygirl

how is his refusal to learn the lyrics to his songs and making excuses left and right showing integrity? Nothing is ever his fault — all he ever does is make excuses — he doesn’t know the song, he doesn’t have the time to learn the lyrics/choreography, etc. Last I looked, he has the exact same time to do this stuff as the other contestants, yet they don’t seem to have the same issues. Why is he allowed to get away with this type of crap, but people aren’t allowed to call him out on it?

  • http://twitter.com/MoranKTA flog gnaw

    Still better than Miss Laz.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=579290324 Michael Bishop

Angie did not say a word; it is NOT her responsibility to censor her fans or defend Lazaro. All she did was mark a tweet as a favorite. It was neither childish or petty…it was honest. We all slam these kids when they come off as phony, now we have someone who simply marked a comment as a favorite, and is getting heat. NOW we see why those in the spotlight act phony. Too many people hang on every word looking for fault and malice where there is none.

  • EliteHalien

    Oops, meant Season 9 :/ hahaha :P

  • jpfan2

This makes me like her more because she’s isn’t just a sweet Christian who never says anything negative! She has commercial potential so that’s a plus as well.

  • http://twitter.com/CanadianLady2 CanadianLady

Why do I feel as if I just stepped into an episode of Seinfeld?

  • blackberryharvest

I think Haley only attended because Stefano was there also. The way he unfollowed her on twitter might have implied something.

I also remember Scotty and James unfollowing each other for awhile. I also remember Stefano hating Jacob.

  • blackberryharvest

They honestly weren’t that bad of judges and had great eyes for talent. I think they would have cut Lazaro(although JLO would have had tears lol). They wouldn’t have let Zoanette through auditions.

  • http://twitter.com/CanadianLady2 CanadianLady

His “refusal to learn the lyrics?” Where has anyone said he refused to learn them? And how is he “getting away with” anything?

  • lollamape

IKR? Every season had their own drama in a past but some people ignored it because their snowflake was one of the cast.

  • irockhard

S11 was more like a filler season, S10 had intense fan wars but not as intense as 2, 5 & 8.

  • irockhard

Don’t remember this so called “rude comment” James made to Haley. Even so that cast had chemistry onstage, both on the show and on the tour, this one doesn’t.

  • Larc

They will probably break out the Champagne.

  • http://twitter.com/DorkAngel DorkAngel-GBW

I’m actually considering to vote for him and I haven’t watched the show or voted in a few years. I can’t understand the point of disliking, hating on, being mean or nasty towards a contestant when it’s the viewers who vote. I understand that many feel he has out stayed his real ability to compete with the others, but seriously, what do you want him to do. Should he drop out? Would they let him? From what I read he’s the only buzz the show has going for it right now. #LazaroFTW!

  • bridgette12

Considering they only could scrounge up 25 million votes, I don’t think the viewers are loving any of them. The only one anyone is talking about is Lazaro and that’s because it’s unbelievable he’s still around, the ratings are in the cellar and not one of these people have created any buzz. None of these Idols are in any position to throw stones at another Idol, when no one is beating down the door to sign any of them. Why would they, when these people couldn’t sell a hundred albums even if they were givng away a free corndog with it.

  • lollamape

Chemistry is opinion from you not a fact. Agree to disagree of course

    ;)

and that video is one of the behind the scene video, i think top 4 or top 5 (i really don’t remember which video is that and exact date but i still remember watched that video in a past)

  • irockhard

You don’t remember what he said?

  • LeahKittyS

She could have been referring to someone else. The men and women were separated up until the live shows; how would she have known him?

  • curly_yenta

Screw Angie…. she’s lucky she didn’t get voted off. The girl is an egocentric entitled b….h, IMO. Just for that, I’m sending Laz my 50 votes again this week! LOL

  • http://twitter.com/MoranKTA flog gnaw

I’m not a fan of Angie, but c’mon, the girl is probably leading the votes every week. She’s not going anywhere lmfao.

  • http://twitter.com/svmreiter Susan Reiter

There are no standout girls that I can see, unfortunately. They all sing well. Nothing out of the ordinary. I can’t remember one from the other from week to week. Just didn’t get pulled in this year. At least the Lazaro controversy is something ‘going on’ for a change this year.

  • LeoCS

or because she has some courage and stand for what she thinks, something that we don’t see on idols in years

  • lollamape

This one i guess in the beginning..

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGySLPwfORs

Yeah maybe not really rude, but for Haley fans (not me btw), his comment insulted her and made him as a douchey. But anyway that’s not my opinion, those based on people comments on youtube.

  • http://twitter.com/MoranKTA flog gnaw

You don’t need to know someone to “know” them. She was probably was because the only person whose performance was worse than Burnell’s was Miss Laz’s; 90% of the Idol bubble knew that.

  • LeahKittyS

I think Devin’s tweet to Candice refers to how the producers fixed the season to get a girl winner, not necessarily an attack on Lazaro. And how can Paul be “serious and sarcastic” at the same time? Those two words are opposites. I think the contestants were more mad about Candice not being in the top 3 than Lazaro being there; she is the one all the others hail as the supreme singer. But maybe I’m a delusional softie who hates the thought of infighting among the Idol family.

  • Falls Guy

Hate being repetitive but…. you do know she hasn’t said anything…right???

  • LeahKittyS

Doesn’t matter. Why would she favorite those tweets is that’s not how she felt? Hollywood is a dangerous microscope to lay under.

  • irockhard

I can’t even make out what he said. And I can’t tell if Haley’s reaction is genuine or not. Wide open to interpretation IMO.

  • LeahKittyS

Holy crap. Something just occurred to me. I wonder if Angie knows Lazaro’s little secret, and that’s why she’s turning against him? I mean, she is from Massachusetts, but she’s still a diehard fundamentalist…

(If you’re wondering what the secret is, look at the pictures at this link)
    http://www.rickey.org/is-lazaro-arbos-gay/

  • http://twitter.com/RyanJames2298 Ryan

It is clear that Devin is not a Lazaro fan. And I agree that serious and sarcastic was a bad way to put it. I meant that Paul seemed happy and like he was enjoying the interview, and then Michael brought up Lazaro and he became much less jolly (no pun intended) and had a sarcastic tone when talking about Lazaro and how Lazaro did in the top 40 round.

  • http://twitter.com/Stooch101 Stooch

    speculation base without facts

  • irockhard

Homophobia! Great that’ll make her more likable and Lazaro less likable, um not! For her sake I hope you’re wrong.

  • LeahKittyS

Not being a fan of someone and acting downright nasty to a person you spent a lot of close time with are two different things. The American Idol machine is a gruesome experience that brings people together like few others; Lazaro would have to be a real demon for someone from his own season to turn on him like that.

  • woodchuck25

You realize every single make in the top 10 was gay, right? Yes, even Burnell.

  • LeahKittyS

Nah, not Burnell. If anything, he’s bi. He and Amber are really about to have something. But the others, absolutely.

  • http://twitter.com/RyanJames2298 Ryan

I feel like the girls, as much as they’re being pushed and one of them is obviously going to win, are getting screwed over. The 5 remaining girls truly are great, but with the worse combination of themes ever, a panel with less chemistry than oil and vinegar, and no strong male counterparts to bring in a larger audience, they aren’t getting the exposure they deserve and would get on any other season

  • LeahKittyS

I didn’t say it was for certain. I just don’t understand why else she would do something so hurtful. I’ll come up with the craziest explanations for things sometimes.

  • tigervixxxen

That hardly counts as making her feelings public. This is like freeze framing the live shows and analyzing how long they hug each other for.

  • Joyed

Where there is smoke there is fire. I am betting that Lazaro is just not someone pleasant to be around. (to the person who implied it is because Lazaro is gay, please. Half of the boys in the group are gay and the group seems close to them). I was a reading a review of the show, and someone in the comments mentioned that they had worked with Lazaro and said he was a nightmare to work with. That seems believable to me. Nothing is worse than having to work with someone who doesn’t do their work and makes you look bad. Having a disability like stuttering is unfortunate, but it isn’t something that lets you off the hook for how you treat others.

  • lollamape

    He said ‘Please stop complaining’

But yeah not really a big deal.

  • LeahKittyS

For everyone’s sake I hope I’m wrong! The thought that Lazaro may not be the lovable sweetheart he comes off as both on camera and on Twitter is breaking my heart.

  • tigervixxxen

Pity votes from who? The people reading this blog post are the only ones who are even aware of this.

  • woodchuck25

So you think he’s just physically incapable of learning them? Can’t or not trying those are the only two options…

  • perfectstorm

I didn’t think she did anything hurtful. She did what most people are thinking. If anyone, it’s Angie who has the fan base to over take Lazaro.

  • jms

This is how I see it too. S12 definitely fits in that category, even if the female talent level is decent (as it was in S9… and look at that).

  • jms

The singing is definitely better, but the overall feeling I get from the season is worse. S9 was terrible, but this one is aggravating.

  • justmefornow

Maybe she was the complainer Paul was talking about, lol.
If James really disliked her, I doubt she would have been at his wedding, whether or not she was dating Stefano at the time.
Stefano was in the wedding party, Haley wasn’t. She didn’t have to be there.

  • http://twitter.com/CanadianLady2 CanadianLady

Could be any number of reasons. English is his second language, he has never heard the songs, he needs more time to learn them, the others know them, they’re rushing everybody and he gets more nervous, he’s had far less experience performing, he’s never sung with a group…. Even gifted kids have been called stupid simply because they don’t learn the same way other people do. Lots of smart people have learning disabilities.

I just don’t think we can assume, and I’d rather assume there’s a good reason and be mistaken than put down someone who doesn’t deserve it.

  • LeahKittyS

Aahh! This is getting to be too much! Angie throwing shade at Lazaro, Burnell snubbing Lazaro, then we drag Devin into this, and Amber and Candice, and suddenly everybody hates everybody else! That does it! I’m flying to the American Idol studio to practice my peer mediation skills! Get Curtis, Paul, Devin and Burnell on the phone; we’ll need all 10 of them to fix this! We can’t go through the summer tour with pretend love; it’ll hurt all of them and the show itself. If Lazaro really is a bug in the system, we have to find a way to fix it that doesn’t involve putting arsenic in his coffee. But I’m a little strapped for cash. Anyone want to chip in to save this season by getting me a plane ticket?

  • http://twitter.com/ladymctech ladymctech

“Having fans is like having an army of private detectives constantly on your tail.” Ha ha, MJ, truer words were never spoken!

  • EB

I get the impression that he is a nervous wreck all of the time, and for some what comes with that level of anxiety is a constantly defeated, possibly whiny “I can’t” attitude that may be prohibiting him (/Lazaro prohibiting himself) from being able to learn the songs, memorize his lyrics and be confident on stage. Probably also proud and doesn’t want to admit that he needs help. Then yes, he screws up other people in the whole process.

And w/ his stutter creating a communication barrier, it is all a bad mix and makes him very wrong for a competition like this, but I know it isn’t exactly his fault that he keeps advancing. It is too bad if he doesn’t make the best of it still and try to work better with others.

  • http://twitter.com/ladymctech ladymctech

Finally this season we have some water cooler talk!!!

  • LeahKittyS

Yeah, sad that this had to be it, though…

  • http://twitter.com/Auggee68 Auggee Alvarado

My suggestion, American Idol should come up with another AI program entitled “AMERICAN IDOL WITH DISABILITY” or maybe “AMERICAN IDOL FOR THE HANDICAP”. This will definitely separate the wheat from the chaff and place Lazaro where it really belongs. Again, as I keep telling before, AI is a popularity contest first, and a singing contest second. So Lazaro’s disability is gaining him a lot of votes for his popularity. He could even likely land in the final top three or two and for the ultimate insult, become the AI12 undisputed winner. Ha, Ha, Ha!

  • jpfan2

Voting for Lazaro won’t hurt Angie but it’ll probably hurt Janelle or Amber.
It’s kind of obvious they’re getting the fewest votes of the contestants that are left.

  • Falls Guy

Again… cause your not getting it…she has remained silent. You should write for the National Enquirer…you’ve got the required skills.

  • http://twitter.com/CanadianLady2 CanadianLady

I hope they have some counseling for all of them then, because this is in danger of turning into another type of bullying. And they put him here. You can changed ingrained habits that just by wanting to.

But I have to say he CAN sing and I’d love for him to get to where he can sing with confidence. I think he’s actually getting there. I think he could still surprise some people.

  • LeahKittyS

The somewhat keen (though not always accurate) psychic in me has him in fourth right now, so while I will be upset if he outlasts Amber and/or Janelle, I will not be entirely surprised. But Angie, Candice, and Kree are untouchable. I’m counting him to go out either 6th (keeping with the American Idol Horror Story), 4th (going by the not-always-accurate psychic) or 5th (as a little compromise).

  • LeahKittyS

To favorite a tweet is to quote those words as your thoughts. Why else would she favorite it?

  • http://twitter.com/MoranKTA flog gnaw

She didn’t have a problem with Curtis, Devin, or Paul. She’s against him because she knows that he doesn’t belong.

  • http://twitter.com/MoranKTA flog gnaw

    Nah, Burnell is straight.

  • LeahKittyS

Okay, the more I think about my theory, the less likely it seems. I just need someway to justify her actions. I don’t want to believe Lazaro is really a big meanie. I just can’t bring myself to think that. I literally prayed for him to make the Top 10. I had no idea it would come to this.

  • LeahKittyS

This is why I recommended peer mediation. The best option now is to do this Dr. Phil style. Sit all ten of them in a room, have the other nine be as honest as possible, and convince Lazaro that he needs to fix his behavior. And then get a professional to help him with that. For their sake and the viewers’. The rating are suffering enough; we don’t need a toxic work environment behind the scenes.

  • g122y

Next week will be the Elimination of Lazaro. He deserves to go home.

  • Nostradamas

So what? Jimmy has been screaming for Lararo to get shitcanned for weeks now….enough of this fool already….

  • LA944

Maybe TPTB hacked Angie’s account to try to start some controversy to elevate ratings–LOL
The premise of the show is the contestant with the least amount of votes goes home. So really, whatever the outcome– it’s never wrong. It might suck though-ha! Until they do something about the voting rules–this is the way it goes.

I think that these are just kids who tweeting or favoriting tweets–not polished PR professionals. It doesn’t bother me what they tweet unless it’s straight out offensive. I don’t think what Angie did was offensive in any way.

  • LeahKittyS

Oh my goodness, that didn’t even occur to me! Sabotage alert! (But then how do you explain Burnell’s snub?)

  • LA944

I really loved season 10 as well. It’s cool how many of them are still good friends and hang out together now and then. Some even perform together here and there and/or appear in each others videos. But, I did read once that Casey said that they all became even better friends once the tour started. I guess it was much easier with the pressure off.

  • LeahKittyS

And so the American Idol Horror Story continues…
(Mind you, it won’t be scary at all that he goes home. The scary part is that they stacked the deck with such weak men that all 5 of them were out before a single woman left.)

  • Chad

If you want a true talent show, watch The Voice

  • LeahKittyS

Quite frankly I’d like to tell Angie that it was only a matter of time. These girls must know the show is being manipulated in their favor. Even if Lazaro had gone two weeks ago, Devin and Burnell were next in line no matter what they did. None of those 5 stood a chance, however good or bad they may be. As much as these girls may not like to admit it, their brothers were dead in the water. Heck, if this is how she really feels, it may comfort her to know that Lazaro is about to meet his doom.

  • perfectstorm

It’s too bad with all the brouhaha about a girl finally winning, she could indeed end up matching Lee Dewyze’s record. And when all is said and done, the WGWG will still prevail. I can’t see her doing better than Scotty and Phillip.

  • LeahKittyS

I think everybody’s thinking that. But if that turns out to be the case, then what do we do with this broken appliance of a show? Repair? or Replace (with another show, that is)?

  • LeahKittyS

Well, it’s been hours since this has broken and I’ve seen no attempt at damage control from any of them. Do you think there will be some up be Wednesday? Or are they just going to pretend this never happened?

  • girlygirl

So Lazaro shouldn’t be held to the same set of standards as the other contestants? Because he is not being asked to do anything different than any of the rest of them. He is NOT the only one who doesn’t know these songs. At least 3 contestants have said they weren’t familiar with songs they’ve had to perform. Seems to me, he shouldn’t be given a free pass when the other contestants would be getting harsh criticism if they had screwed up as he has. IF there is some legit reason (beyond his stutter) for his problems with learning the lyrics and the choreography (such as a learning disability), then maybe that issue should be made public.

I’m simply looking for him to simply accept some responsibility. Has he even apologized to Burnell, Devin or Angie for screwing up the group performances, or thanked them for trying to cover up for him? Not as far as I know. Nothing is ever his fault, and I’m sorry, but I’m tired of all his excuses for what has been a string of awful to mediocre performances. The other contestants don’t get free passes when they mess up, so why should he? His attitude comes off (to me) as entitled and a bit arrogant. Like he knows he can get away with whatever, as people keep voting for him no matter what.

  • Maya100

This is starting to read like bullying.

I don’t know if Lazaro is a good guy or not, but I know he’s an insecure, immature guy who’s probably been bullied, laughed-at and had very little expected of him for his entire life. That combination does not create the easiest personality to work with.

This is particularly true for someone who likely cannot participate much in group discussions and often may sit silently – because he may not have any alternative as he is simply unable to get the words out. Frustrating, much?

Lazaro is going out there and doing what he can do. They all do. Some do it well and some don’t – he often doesn’t. But the public votes. Maybe they see him as someone being bullied even now? I don’t get how isolating him, pointing at him and laughing at him helps anything.

Just a bunch of kids without a lot of empathy being encouraged by the adults to be exclusionary, as far as I can tell.

  • http://twitter.com/MissGolightly22 No Thanks

Not that Lazaro deserves to stay over the others, but the Idol producers
have no one to blame but themselves. They created the monster. They
slathered on the heavy handed back story. They put him through. And
now they’re mad because they can’t flip a switch and make him go when
they want him to? Tough shit man. I have no sympathy.

  • LeahKittyS

Maya, you are my hero today. I think whatever hard time Lazaro is giving people backstage is a result of never learning how to properly interact with people growing up. And while I don’t think the other contestants are trying to be bullies, I wish Angie hadn’t gone and made it known that she doesn’t think he should be there. I was bullied in middle school and entered high school as a “problem child,” but I had a network of supporters who helped my fix what I was doing wrong so I could function today. Maybe he didn’t have that support, and as a result, can’t handle a rough situation like this maturely. He was clearly still living at home; if his parents knew about this issue why on Earth did they let him audition? Were they hoping he would bring in money for the family?

  • Maya100

Well said, EB. I would also hope others would make the best of it by trying to be understanding.

  • justmefornow

    How do I put this…..
This is a lame ass dull season. And judging by the nose diving ratings each week, it’s gonna end up pretty ugly.
Lazaro, love him or hate him is the only one left that’s remotely buzz worthy in any way.

There’s no damage control because no one really gives a damn much about any of them.

  • Maya100

Thank you, LeahKittyS. I agree – he is desperately missing social skills. Not surprising, given his situation, but much more probably could have been done.

I also agree that this wasn’t a competition he should have done and I wonder why they allowed it. On the other hand, I remember the same sort of comments about Susan Boyle. After she was hospitalized Simon was raked over the coals for allowing her to participate. Now, she has a terrific life and tells anyone who asks how grateful she is for the opportunity she had to “change my life for the better.” Maybe it’s just as simple as that – they thought this may change his life for the better.

  • Maya100

If a girl wins and then flops, I suppose it would be a fitting end to a disappointing season. What would they do next season? I hope throw out the fix.

  • LeahKittyS

We can only hope that’s how it ends, and not in him going deeper into this maze of a program that he should. Or worse, if you catch my drift.

  • LeahKittyS

I meant damage control from the Idols themselves. Angie hasn’t mentioned anything about it, not even a hint of “Sorry, I stepped out of line.” Come on, even Colton Dixon apologized for that once. And by “end up pretty ugly,” I hope you mean ratings-wise and not all-five-girls-getting-shafted-wise.

  • http://twitter.com/HighTensions Jake W.

I completely agree. The producers deserve a large degree of the hate toward them as well for putting him through.

  • LeahKittyS

“Throw out the fix?” So are you saying repair, or are you saying replace? That sounds like both.

  • b_james

I tend to look at those favorites as favoring Burnell…not so much against Lazaro. But who can blame her? It would drive me nuts if I was on that show and people were voting for him!

  • http://twitter.com/HighTensions Jake W.

Another thing that stuck with me was that Lazaro said (during the video comment he made about Janelle being like a worker in a corn field down in the south, except she still had all her teeth showed me that he is a asshole. Don’t dish what you can’t take Lazaro. Generalizing people from the south was pushing it way to far in that video where the idols dished about the contestants. It tells me what he thinks about the people from here.

  • LeahKittyS

At first I thought so, too, that she was just “Yay Burnell” and not necessarily “Boo Lazaro.” But still, I wish she had been more careful about what she chose to highlight. It may anger her to have to be sensitive towards a 21-year old man with emotional and social issues. But being-high functioning autistic and knowing what it’s like to be bullied, I felt at a time whatever pain he feels now. I don’t care if you’re 40 years old and still living with your mother; if you have an issue, I will be compassionate. Maybe she’s never known somebody like that, which is a shame, because we’re fascinating people.

  • Reflects On Life

You bring up some very good points. I too lament that this excellent batch of female singers are not getting the exposure they deserve.

  • taylor

Can we get Dr. Phil to come in and work with the judges?
They could film the sessions and show them before or after the weekly episode. Talk about a ratings boost!

  • justmefornow

    Ratings-wise yes.

  • LeahKittyS

None of the judges are on the verge of a nervous breakdown. One of the contestants is. And the judges get enough attention as it is. They’re already famous; let’s keep as much focus as we can on the up and coming.

  • http://twitter.com/MikhailXO MichaelG (MikhailXO)

That comment is a bit offensive…VERY odd that the producers chose to air that. hmmmmm….

  • blackberryharvest

I think it’s pretty much confirmed James was the complainer. He even publicly complained about the tour not paying for his son and girlfriend to come out and complained about not singing his own music.

  • http://twitter.com/MikhailXO MichaelG (MikhailXO)

Everyone wants to hate Lazaro…suppose I get it, to a degree. But Angie seems like a presumptuous princess and a bit…sanctimonious. She started off as the ‘chosen one’, but seems the bloom may be off the rose. 2 mediocre weeks in a row. Just sayin’

  • Maya100

I do. And thank you for all of your comments on this. Very enlightening. The best part of the internet and blogs like these!

  • Maya100

I mean – they’ll stop trying to fix the results and allow the organic to happen. So I supposes I’m talking about a repair. No strong-arming contestants into songs, no choosing weaker men to promote the women. Etc.

  • LeahKittyS

Hey, the good news is, maybe that will hurt his chances with the huge Southern voting block. Combine that with the insanely bright outfits the ladies highlighted and surfaced pictures of him with his hunky sweetheart, and his time is limited. Even if he makes it past this week, I will bet you every last cent in my checking account he will not win.

  • LeahKittyS

Okay, thanks for clarifying. Personally I’m vouching for replace, but that’s for selfish purposes.

  • justmefornow

Except that Paul and James were close friends. Paul and Haley, not so much. So who knows? I don’t recall Paul ever saying he was talking about James.

Too bad James wasn’t the winner his year like P2 was this year. He could have had Heidi tag along all summer like P2′s girlfriend did.
With his aspergers, that would have been a huge help I would assume.

  • blackberryharvest

Only 25 million votes? That’s a lot. And I don’t care that there used to be more, that’s still a lot.

  • curly_yenta

Yep, that exactly what I said upthread. She comes across as an entitled princess.

  • LeahKittyS

I smell sabotage…but I don’t think that’s the first time a contestant has been portrayed like he described Janelle in that clip.

  • blackberryharvest

Because 50 votes really make a difference for the 25 million, right? :P

  • LeahKittyS

“Sanctimonious.” Great word! I didn’t think “Bring Me To Life” was mediocre, but I never thought she was going to win. The first front-runner never wins. I just want her to make it to at least fifth place, because then she would break the sixth-place record of Siobhan Magnus, the only other American Idol finalist from Massachusetts.

  • blackberryharvest

Or a true judges show lol.

  • Chad

    Ya even better

  • blackberryharvest

    Devin has a girlfriend apparently.

  • perfectstorm

Yet Angie (along with Kree) have never been in the bottom. So she could have enough fan base support that will help her through the mediocre weeks.

  • LeahKittyS

Or Candice. Which is why I think two of them will be in the finale. I want to say the three of them will be the Top 3, but I won’t rule out a shock boot just yet.

  • perfectstorm

They did not reveal the Bottom 3 this week. So don’t know whether it was Candice or Amber. But Angie was in the Top 3, as she was week 1.

  • Niall

I’m in agreement with the line of thought that Angie didn’t diss Lazaro by saving those tweets in her favorites. Re-tweeting would have been an active diss. In this case she just fell victim to nosy fans. The bottom line, regardless, is she doesn’t have much use for the crying, whining, crotch stuffing drama queen, Lazaro.

  • http://twitter.com/Stooch101 Stooch

You are not alone, pride myself on being a good judge of character and that set off the D-bag alarm immediately .

  • LeahKittyS

Believe me, it wasn’t Candice. If it was Candice I’ll eat all four of my living, swimming goldfish whole.

  • LucyWillis1996

To be fair to Angie, the majority of the Tweets did mention her and chances are she was just favoring the mentions of her. At least one where she isn’t mentioned (Alina) is a personal friend of hers.

  • http://twitter.com/Stooch101 Stooch

The fact he getting voted through isn’t doing him any favors either. The longer they keep him around the more of a punchline he becomes and the more it is spotlit. It actually hurts him for figuring things out vocally and being able to get a career or of having chance out of it. If he’s tag as the joke who finish 3rd on American Idol, that all he’ll ever be

  • LeahKittyS

That makes me feel a little better. I went back and read some of the Idols’ early tweets from the season, and it was so sweet how they all got along and told people to follow each other. They probably didn’t see the season going the way it did, exactly, but I think when all ten of them are together again for the tour, all will be forgiven.

  • Niall

“Bullying” as a concept is starting to be cheapened because people throw the word around whenever legitimate criticism or frustration is expressed. Lazaro is a public figure now who has made some fairly major missteps. Not everybody likes him. Other contestants over the years have gotten it much worse. Being criticized on a blog is NOT bullying.

  • http://twitter.com/Stooch101 Stooch

I was wondering that myself, if they were personal friends

  • http://twitter.com/eilonwya10 Eilonwy

There’s no need for damage control.

A couple of blogs had a tizzy over what tweets a contestant favorited. I couldn’t even tell you what’s in my favorites list or whether I agree with every item there. Since my favorites are often links I mean to read later, I probably DON’T agree with tons of it.

But I don’t have fans “sleuthing” me.

Angie Miller gains nothing by drawing wider attention to this speculation, and I don’t think she owes anybody an apology or explanation.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=533690112 Nina Bohm

F… the other contestants, what a bunch of whiny babies. It’s their job to perform and our business to cast votes to whomever we choose. Attacking one of their competitors because they think they are superior to him is low class. All of the contestants are amateurs. They all have voices and any of them in theory could release a hit record or crash and burn. if I get around to it, I will be voting for Lazaro.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jennifer.woolley.338 Jennifer Woolley

Sad that its apparently “good news” that surfaced pictures of him with a guy will limit his time. Not sad, actually, disgusting.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jennifer.woolley.338 Jennifer Woolley

Angie has completely turned me off with this. As has been chanted about Idol over and over again, “America votes who they want and thus no vote is wrong”. Isn’t that the mantra?

  • LeahKittyS

That wasn’t the good news I was referring to. And I agree, it’s ridiculous that our country is still so homophobic. But everybody wants Lazaro gone, so anything that could turn him off to the voters is good news for them.

  • LeahKittyS

So I’d like to think. Some voting results disappoint me, but I don’t allow myself to get angry like I did when I started watching in middle school. I have learned to accept the full season’s outcome as fate and destiny, and I will accept whatever this season and future seasons (if there are any) bring. That’s why I write AI fan fiction; I can spin things however I want and focus on whatever I choose. Stirs like this make for good stories, as do polarizing contestants.

  • bahogbugan_simj

    COACHES people, COACHES!

  • http://www.facebook.com/jennifer.woolley.338 Jennifer Woolley

Eh, Idol is pretty much the Nicki Minaj show. Idol lost its “it’s all about the contestants” bragging rights when they chose to highlight the infighting between them.

  • LeahKittyS

Hey MJ, can we get a new system for commenting? One that doesn’t involve a “down-vote” button? I’ve been getting down-voted a lot on this thread and it’s really bothering me. My skin is apparently as thin as Lazaro’s.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jennifer.woolley.338 Jennifer Woolley

Ah, AI fan fiction?? Has this season spurred your writing at all?

  • LeahKittyS

It’s spurred my writing since the judges were announced last year. I have the plot all set and am adding details as I learn more about the Idols. I’ll have a good outline by the end of the season. Want to know what it’s about?

  • Reflects On Life

I think the circumstances could swell anyone’s head. Think about it – voted “american idol” by her entire HS, auditions right after graduating HS, makes it to the finals the first time she auditions (among other finalists who are giving it their 3rd or 4th go), she’s got the most buzzed-about performance, and she’s yet to hit B3. Enough to swell any young kid’s head or skew their entitlement.

  • mjsbigblog

Being criticized on a blog is NOT bullying.

Because this cannot be said enough.

  • mjsbigblog

My blog is NOT the place for fan fiction.

  • hcpoirot

These all tweets really make them seem petty and maybe will get Lazaro fans to votes even hardest.

We all know Lazaro is the worst of the top 10 this year. But who get him thru top 10? The producers sob story and constantly give him lots of screen time before the live round begin.

If they just show him as another contestant who make it to top 20, he probably already gone before reaching top 10.

  • curly_yenta

Whether it does or not, that’s how I’ll be voting. And if enough people vote that way, yes, it might be difference between leaving and not. We never know how close the margins really are.
Entitled princesses like her annoy the heck out of me.

  • hcpoirot

Christopher Mahoney without any sobbing story make it to final 2. Can Lazaro with his sob story make it a step further and win?

The girls really had to dial down the hates toward him. The more they shown it , the public votes will turn around and make him win this. And that will be totally priceless.

  • LeahKittyS

Even if Lazaro’s fans vote harder, it won’t be enough.

1.) The girls, specifically Angie, Candice, and Kree, are just too good. If a girl does not win this season I will be astonished.

2.) The producers will do everything in their power to keep him from touching their favorites. Even at the risk of exposing more manipulation and even being accused of tampering with the votes.

3.) Now that the pictures of him and his boyfriend are circulating, at some point it will bite him in the butt.

There is nothing that can stop his march to the chopping block. When he’ll get there is a mystery, but he’ll get there before someone else.

  • LeahKittyS

Why “girls?” Angie’s the only one showing any discontent. Amber and he are still friends, Candice is mature, Janelle is sweet and friendly to all, and Kree hasn’t said a word about this.

  • hcpoirot

Even if a girl win this season, their career probably will had the same fate as season 9 winner and runner up. The sales will not be good at all. The exposure is not great.

We had to blame the producers for it and not the girls or the boys. They are the chosen ones. Even if they bring others from top 20, the result will be the same.

  • DragonFly

I think Paul made the complainer ref not just about 1 but it maybe did include James. Paul was older than the rest & he was talking about it being hard business to make it on your own too & let’s face it they do live 24/7 w/strangers & are definitely under pressure during the show & on tour. Pressures & lack of sleep, missing families, etc. get to most of them–they complain. James made no secret he missed family. The guys/gals for the most part intermixed as best they could when time permitted, Plus some of the complaining was about things Idol/accomodations/pimping going on, etc.–it happens.

There def is pressure during all of it & the competition was tough S10–so any “magnifying glass” dissection of who followed/unfollowed, disses, snarky looks —yeah, nobody said these guys/gals weren’t competing & no one puts any of them up as saints. But, beyond competing they rose above it & there was 95% more fun moments than others. Idol has been known for trying to spur trouble btwn contestants & they remind them constantly that this is a competition for the win. Sometimes it’s best imo for them not to follow a competition’s fan base/twitter especially when competing fans make ugly, untrue many times–comments that contestants shouldn’t take serious or take in at all possibly affecting their confidence & their performance..

Re. this thread imo, even her(Angie) “favoriting” twitter comments that included praise of her wasn’t really that serious. Although I am sickened w/any “ripping” going on of a contestant, it sadly isn’t going to stop—w/o getting ugly the girl is entitled to not like someone. Expressing it not a good idea tho.

  • LeahKittyS

Sad but true. America picked the Top 10, but we only had one round to vote; before that it was entirely in their hands. The contestants don’t choose to be there now. Technically they could quit, but at this point it would feel like they were betraying a lot of people. Lazaro was sad the night Burnell went home; if not because Burnell was leaving, then because he knew he would get a ton of flack for it. Which is happening.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bug-Menot/100003601718986 Bug Menot

Kree tweeted, “Honestly, I’m shocked with America’s votes. This competition will NOT be the same without @BurnellAI12.” That’s in the article above.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bug-Menot/100003601718986 Bug Menot

This isn’t a presidential election where every person only has one vote. Nor is “turnout” in one region generally equal to another.

  • LeahKittyS

Oh. Whoops. Missed that. But I think that was just a “Yay Burnell” comment, not a “Boo Lazaro” comment. She’s too nice and sweet for that nonsense. I heard her say on tape that her wanting him to stay was totally selfish, because she would miss his presence. She couldn’t hate anybody.

  • jennyl2

Angie is still my fav but I’m not invested in the contest aspect of idol anymore. I’m fine if Lazaro wins though i fear he may end up being trashed by the media, the industry and blogger for being an undeserving winner and have a meltdown seeing he can’t even stand competition pressure. Maybe that’s because I don’t really care who wins. America pays to vote but they won’t buy albums or support winners post idol. I just watch the show to hear my fav sing that’s all and for the popcorn. Lol!

  • http://www.fatladysings.us TFLS

Thing is……Lazaro could end up winning. It’s not impossible. What then? ‘Auto-Tune, The Album’?

*sigh* The last time I really looked forward to watching Idol was when Adam performed.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bug-Menot/100003601718986 Bug Menot

Angie and Kree are roommates. They probably share the opinion that Lazaro should have gone before Burnell.

  • LeahKittyS

So because they’re roommates they agree on every little thing? I didn’t see Kree favorite-ing any harsh tweets about Lazaro. Even if it’s what she thought, she’d keep it to herself out of decency.

  • blackberryharvest

There’s no real difference. They still judge the performances after they perform, no?

  • blackberryharvest

People say that, but it really all depends on the promotion and the material. People said Phillip would never do well, but he got a good song and great promotion. Crystal and Lee both got poor promotion, and Sony wasn’t invested in the contestants anymore since they didn’t have any responsibility for idols anymore. The timing was all wrong. Jimmy Iovine has done great with the last few winners so far.

  • LeahKittyS

Trust me; it’s impossible. See my below list of reasons why. If you have any counters, I’d be happy to hear them.

  • LeahKittyS

That was Angie who said that, not Kree. Click the link.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jennifer.woolley.338 Jennifer Woolley

Oh I know that. But, it’s the same system Idol, has used before, so to me, this year isn’t any different…whoever gets the votes wins and people vote for a myriad of reasons.

  • maymay

    Someone`s terrible competition strategy:

1.Playing the stutter card to avoid being eliminated.

2.Playing the being bullied card to avoid being judged.

3.Playing the crying card to get pity votes.

Well, I hope the death card or whatever won`t be the ultimate idea.

  • LeahKittyS

What death card? Did someone in his family die? And why is that a terrible competition strategy? It made him the last man standing. Sure, the Internet has fun bashing him, but he’s letting it slide.

  • http://twitter.com/ReboundsMom ReboundsMom

I don’t understand your response. If you think I’m attacking Angie, I’m not; I don’t care one way or another about her since I haven’t watched the show in weeks. My larger point is that it’s ridiculous for anyone to get het up about contestants like Lazaro going deep. It happens every year and doesn’t even remotely matter in the long run.

  • Incipit

IDK what you mean w/that death card, maymay…but an Idol competition strategy where none of the points have anything at all to do with singing, arranging, or performing is indeed a pretty terrible strategy, I’ll agree. The only thing more terrible would be if the voting audience fell for it. And that could happen. In case no one has noticed, it has become apparent that anything could happen with this show – nothing to do with vocal abilities, it just depends what TPTB want – and who they decide to criticize. IMO.

  • Maya100

Correct – I wasn’t talking about the blog at all.

  • Maya100

Of course – I understand that.

  • Face

silly girl… may be the undoing of her…

  • Happyhexer

As a placeholder. I do it all the time. If there’s a tweet I want to be able to find again, for whatever reason, I favorite it. It doesn’t mean I like or agree with what’s in the tweet.

  • Happyhexer

I disagree. If people really think that way, guess I’d better stop favoriting tweets!

  • Happyhexer

    Uh, cause you have? :-D

  • Happyhexer

Finally, a voice of reason. I also couldn’t tell you what is in my list of favorites, for the same reasons. It’s may be labeled “favorites” by twitter, but it’s just a tool to use as a placeholder for tweets a person might want to find again (for whatever reason).

  • Happyhexer

Wow. IMO, lots of overreaction to some favorited tweets. And I am not even a fan of Angie’s.

  • Happyhexer

I agree, as a general proposition, that contestants should not diss each other. (Or anyone else; you never know what the future holds.) In my view, there generally hasn’t been any overt dissing of Lazaro (well, except by Jimmy Iovine!), but I definitely get the impression that there is an undercurrent of something that goes beyond the mere fact that Lazaro may not be the most talented contestant. When multiple contestants are not hiding that there is a problem with another contestant, that speaks volumes. I don’t remember the AI9 crew reacting that way about Tim Urban. I didn’t watch Sanjaya’s season, so I have no clue about him.

I was shocked at first when Burnell and Devin spoke up to defend themselves — technically without naming anyone, but it was obvious who had screwed up. At the same time, it was a breath of fresh air to hear them put into words what was obvious. And I have certainly gotten the impression that Paul wasn’t best pleased with the Lazaro situation. We can add Angie IF her favorited tweets and tweet about Burnell count as something in the same vein. The contestants may not be public relations experts, but they do generally know not to badmouth a fellow contestant. The fact that there is this sense of simmering dissension in the background on the part of multiple contestants is significant, IMO.

  • voicesinmyhead

Burnell and Lazaro do not follow each other on Twitter and that says a lot. Usually during the show’s run contestants follow each other. There seems to be underlying discord going on between Lazaro and everyone else.

  • Happyhexer

There is a lot of talk about voting for Lazaro as a slap in the face to the producers (as opposed to voting for Lazaro because of genuinely liking him, as some people do). I don’t get it. I suppose if one doesn’t like Idol (as opposed to just being frustrated with the producers), it makes sense. Otherwise it doesn’t, at least not to me. First, Lazaro can win. He was in #4 in early voting, and now (despite some really poor performances), he is in the top three, “in no particular order.” That means he could have been #1 or #2. I genuinely believe that if Lazaro wins, it will hurt the Idol franchise as a whole. Yes, Lazaro has some raw talent, but he has neither adequate vocal training nor musical knowledge. He is way over his head on multiple levels. There is enough prejudice about Idol in the music industry as it is. Do we really want to make it that much more difficult for our various special snowflakes to get traction in the music and radio industries? I truly believe that a Lazaro win will hurt the Idol franchise in a way that not even a poor seller like Lee has done.

  • patriciajames

Sony signed Casey James and has been promoting and investing in him from the get-go. He is definitely the shining star from Season 9. Crystal was always my #2 fav from Season 9 and I thought she would do really well except when she released that bummer of an album, insisting that she write all her songs, and released as her first single that song about her awful relationship with her mother. I really don’t think she honestly cared about coming off of Idol a star. Lee — well, I won’t say anything about him here, except to reiterate what Adam Lambert said about him on the show after guest mentoring when he drew an outline of Lee’s face and said “here nothing is happening”. Casey james came off Idol as the performer with “the whole package” and lived up the promotion Sony has given him. IMHO of course. Smiles.

Great thread …. definitely a 2 glasses of wine and a big bowl of popcorn worth.

  • jpfan2

I’m absolutely not a big fan of Angie’s but I find not being a phony kind of refreshing. Especially from someone who I assumed would just put a positive spin on everything. Lazaro must be a huge pain in the butt if so many people on the show hate him.

  • Face

to me at least, there’s a big difference between not being an obvious phony and not opening yourself up to all sorts of needless criticism…
and besides, I think being on any reality tv show by default involves some degree of being phony… be it dialling up or down elements of your personality, emphasising things, concealing things… saying (or not saying) certain things or saying them in a certain way…
so given she has been playing along with the game till this point… this just seems like such a silly and pointless thing for her to do… imo…

  • http://twitter.com/ilikevegetables hello

lazaro is so bad rn i can’t hate on angie for this…

  • Face

i’m not defending Lazaro… he is out of his depth… from the sweating like a pregnant nun to the lack of energy on stage, scared look on his face, forgetting words etc… he’s painful to watch…

I just don’t see what any of the contestants have to gain from trying to lay any blame for anything (i.e. boys trio trainwreck or Burnell being booted this week) on Lazaro…

you can defended yourself (if necessary) without dropping someone else in it… i.e. with boys trio it was pretty obvious that Lazaro had missed his words etc… and had the largest contribution to the trainwreck… Nicki even pointed him out as being the worst… so I have no idea why Devin and Burnell felt the need to bus him like that… it just makes them (to some people) look like the bad guys…
they’d have been better agreeing it wasn’t good… or asking for suggestions on how they (as individuals) could’ve improved the performance and left it up to the judges to elaborate… or not even saying anything…

As we’ve stated before, Laz is Sanjaya and Kevin Covais all over again. How do you think THOSE guys felt? The difference may be the internet, they didn’t have the internet to read messages about themselves. But what I liked about Sanjaya was that he kept smiling through it all and he didn’t make excuses. I don’t think Kevin either. And both of them were “lovable”.

Lol I’d say its pretty close to impossible. He might outlast a couple of girls but that’s as far as he can go. There has never been a contestant so polarizing who ends up winning the whole thing.

  • Miz

All you need to do is watch the facial expressions and body language. It speaks volumes.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=579290324 Michael Bishop

The boys DID defend themselves without throwing Lazaro under the bus. Lazaro can protect himself from such perceived criticism if he would a. learn the songs. b. show the slightest ability to be prepared c. be accountable for his poor performances. I see NOTHING wrong with Angie’s placing some tweets as favorites. If SHE would have wrote the comments, then yes- she’d be wrong. Otherwise, this is a non-story.

  • halo9125

The point is this: would anybody favorite tweets about a co-worker they couldn’t stand and run the risk of your employer finding out? My guess is the answer to that question is no. These kids need to learn to think before they tweet (or favorite…or retweet……)

  • fuzzywuzzy

“What Angie did was petty and childish, and really is not very Christian of her.”

lol In my experience, the more someone touts their “Christianity”, the more I can count on them NOT behaving like a “good Christian” at all.

  • Miz

I am so glad you brought that up. My mouth dropped to the floor over Lazaro’s comment about Janelle and put down of Southerners. I didn’t like him before that, but it pushed me over the edge.

  • Miz

Personally, I think those pictures will help him.

  • jpfan2

Angie came across as very artificial to me. She looked like someone who knew how to play the game so this is the only misstep for her. In a way it makes her seem more human to me.
There’s no way Lazaro will win but in the end it won’t really matter. The ones who 19 thinks will make $ will get some support no matter where they finish.

  • Miz

The internet was certainly around when Sanjaya and Kevin Covais were on the show. It was around in Season 1 and very long before that.

It’s always been a caveat for these contestants to not do a search for themselves on the internet.

  • fuzzywuzzy

So you are voting for Lazaro to spite Angie? Wow.

  • fuzzywuzzy

That Lazaro is gay could be a factor (especially if Angie is a fundie), but I think that Angie (and the others) may dislike Lazaro because he doesn’t belong in the finals and he’s a jerk who is playing the victim card to the hilt.

  • Tommyo2000

Based on talent alone Lazaro should have not made it past Hollywood … He is a karaoke singer at best… Maybe has the talent to front a wedding band… Now that is not a knock, that means he probably has enough talent to make a living in music… He just isn’t a commercial star or superstar…

  • fuzzywuzzy

At this point, the longer Lazaro stays, the more backlash there will be towards him from the viewers and contestants. For everyone’s sake, including his own, he needs to leave next week.

  • fuzzywuzzy

    Totally agree.

  • fuzzywuzzy

The producers will exercise “the clause” to prevent Lazaro from winning.

  • fuzzywuzzy

“I genuinely believe that if Lazaro wins, it will hurt the Idol franchise as a whole. ”

He’s already hurt the Idol franchise. The further he gets, the more of a joke the whole “competition” becomes and takes away from whoever wins this season.

  • fuzzywuzzy

You wrote: “This is starting to read like bullying.”

If you weren’t talking about this blog, then what were you referring to? Angie’s “favoriting” (the topic of this thread) wasn’t “bullying”. Since when is valid criticism about the lack of ability of an Idol contestant to perform well and manipulating his fans “bullying”? Referring to valid criticism as “bullying” only devalues situations where that is really occuring.

  • mickeybordentwo

Idol would have to be very careful using “the clause” with Lazaro, or else they’ll run into the Americans with Disabilities Act. Even if he has no legal claim (based on whatever contract he signed to compete on Idol), he could run an easy public relations campaign, claiming Idol discriminated against him because of his speech impediment.

  • fuzzywuzzy

IMO, this needs to be reposted:

Niall wrote • 10 hours ago

“Bullying” as a concept is starting to be cheapened because people throw the word around whenever legitimate criticism or frustration is expressed. Lazaro is a public figure now who has made some fairly major missteps. Not everybody likes him. Other contestants over the years have gotten it much worse. Being criticized on a blog is NOT bullying

    I totally agree.

mjsbigblog Mod • 9 hours ago

Being criticized on a blog is NOT bullying.

Because this cannot be said enough.

Exactly. Referring to valid criticism as “bullying” only devalues those situations where genuine bullying is happening.

My gut tells me they will monkey with the votes in the next three weeks. He will be gone before the top 3, even if he isn’t the lowest vote getter.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jennifer.woolley.338 Jennifer Woolley

People vote for all different reasons. It won’t be the first time and it won’t be the last time. Some vote on talent, some vote on religion, some vote on personality, some vote on looks, some vote on sexuality, some vote to get back at a contestant for producer pimping, some vote for the perceived “bullied by judges” meme, etc etc etc. I guess I don’t see what’s the big difference this year.

  • LeahKittyS

They didn’t help Paul; why would they help Lazaro?

  • FE Swann

I’m not a fan of twitter or any social media that exposes private thoughts to the universe but, on the other hand, beng politically correct 24/7 isn’t how I think life should be run. Valid criticism and personal opinions about a public or non private issue shouldn’t be held to an unattainable pc standard. Why would I care if my employer found out I can’t tolerate a co-worker or boss. As long as I am doing my job my personal opinions related to those I work with are my right to express. And I’ll man-up if questioned about those feelings.

If I was a contestant along side Lazaro I would be questioning the fans commitment to him, he’s a terrible singer, an annoying personality, and a detriment to the integrity of the show. Why shouldn’t I be able to express that. And having a negative reaction to someone isn’t bullying in any degree. Not liking someone and expressing that is perfectly acceptable behavior and its those that are reading Angie the riot act that are bullying her.

  • fuzzywuzzy

True, although those claims would be unfounded. Plus, invoking “the clause” would not be publicized and there are a myriad of ways that Lazaro will be eliminated without making it obvious that TPTB are invoking “the clause”.

  • FE Swann

Everyone can vote exactly how they wish on a reality TV show, but I find it somewhat sad that voting for the next American Idol is no longer about talent and performance skill and is all about rewarding someone for having a disability or a sad life backstory. Wish my employers would judge me without regards to how well I can do my job and how well I represent the company.

If Lazaro wins this thing it will definitely be the death knell for Idol, I believe. The premise of the show will have definitely taken a nose dive when it is about social issues and no longer about discovering a real talent.

  • justmefornow

Wow. 300+ comments on a rather meaningless non-performance related topic.
Now if the actual show and dynamic contestants this season (lol) could generate this kind of interest with the viewing audience, it would actually matter.

  • bridgette12

I don’t care how bad Lazaro is, what she did is plain stupid, makes her look like a imature child. If she has a problem with Lazaro then be adult enough to say it to his face. Don’t go on twitter and use someone elses tweets to say what you are too gutless to say aloud. Instead of Angie and any of the rest, who are upset with Lazaro still being there, maybe they need to worry more about themselves and their performances, than about whether Lazaro still deserves to be on the show. If your still on this show and you can’t grab the spotlight away from someone who’s so bad, then that makes you out to be more of a joke than he is. If I could send a message to the women who are left on Idol, Lazaro is a trainwreck, but I would rather watch the trainwreck than what they are when they perform, which is watching paint dry.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I think that the difference this year is that a contestant of such low caliber as Lazaro not only making it to the final 10, but now ranking in the top 3. That is new.

  • halo9125

You’re not wrong- but I have found that when working in close quarters with people, it’s probably best to keep your personal feelings to yourself. I have worked with any number of slackers with crappy personalities and whom can’t (or won’t) pull their own weight. And while yes, it is annoying, expressing those feelings in a public forum is not necessarily the way to go- sometimes you just have to suck it up and move on.

  • http://twitter.com/1outside Maj

    amen.

  • http://twitter.com/eilonwya10 Eilonwy

I’m now imagining a scenario in which one of our clients goes through my Twitter favorites, says “wait! she said X about social media in the Research Note I got, but this article she favorited says Y, so what she really thinks is Y, and she’s misleading me!”, and then drops our company.

I suppose one could argue that I’m “unprofessional” for publicly favoriting articles I don’t agree with (it’s a means to remember to deal with them later, usually by working with the ideas, but occasionally for “can you believe people print such crappy research!” breaks in long meetings). Perhaps I owe it to my employer to limit my faves only to material that the company approves and that matches my published opinions.

But if that’s the world we live in, then there’s no point in digging through Twitter for “clues” about “what people really think,” as it’ll soon all be staged anyway. (And I will then have a private Twitter that I use for actually accomplishing tasks other than PR.)

  • http://twitter.com/1outside Maj

First, I don’t think Angie is having trouble getting attention. She’s consistently been in the top 3 so I don’t think she’s concerned about Lazaro ousting her. Second, how do we know if she or the others haven’t said this to Lazaro’s face?

  • bridgette12

As long as she takes no offense if the tables were turned on her and one of the other Idols did the same thing that she did to Lazaro. Would it be considered a non story then?

  • LeahKittyS

You know what, maybe you’re right. Maybe she marked it so that later she could go back and say “Don’t be so hard on my brother” or something. That gives me a little hope.

  • bridgette12

At this stage being in the top 3 don’t mean much, because isn’t Lazaro in the top 3 also. If she and others had said it to Lazaro’s face then there would be no reason to act like a snake in the grass and favor those tweets sent out by other people.

  • LeahKittyS

LOL…it may come down to that. What exactly is “the clause,” anyway?

  • Reflects On Life

IMO Lazaro’s run hasn’t hurt AI as much as AI’s decision to reveal that Lazaro is in the T3 has hurt it. Turban & Sanjaya might have been T3 during certain weeks of their runs, but we were simply never told. Without that reveal, Lazaro’s run so far (sometimes B3, sometimes not) isn’t that surprising. Neither Sanjaya, Turban, nor Lazaro has taken down anyone who wasn’t going down on their own anyways. Paul, Devin, and Burnell would have been bottom-card or mid-packers at best on any season of AI, and Lazaro has not changed that.

The only run that truly threw AI’s credibility into question IMO was Jasmine Trias getting to T3 and leaving several very talented singers in her wake. If Lazaro takes down a woman who’s never been revealed to be in the bottom – Candice, Angie, or Kree – only then will he outdo Jasmine Trias’ credibility-destroying run.

So the question is why they’d actually tell us that Lazaro is in the T3, especially when the viewers are leaving in droves? To put a nail in the coffin? To drum up notoriety since popularity has failed? To create this season’s mid-finals controversy (every season has one – in fact, every reality competition show drums up a mid-season controversy to keep viewership from waning midseason)? The reveal seems like a major misstep, yet this thread had 300 comments on a Saturday night, so obviously Nigel is doing something right.

  • Incipit

“…if the actual show and dynamic contestants this season (lol) could generate this kind of interest with the viewing audience, it would actually matter.”

Good Grief, Yes! Is Idol ‘that’ mind numbingly boring this season as it appears to be, I wonder? Might well be. The choice is not to analyze the dynamics of a performance, the nuances in a song interpretation, the quality of accompaniment, even the lousy acoustic system on Idol or maybe the impact of performance order? It’s like someone on here (lost in the Disqus) – iterating Lazaro’s supposed strategy – except, none of the points were performance related. TPTB’s strategy for creating interest in the show this year also appears to have nothing to do with the music, the vocals or the performances. SMH.

  • justmefornow

Yes, it’s that mind numbingly boring.

  • janeeyre

I think that if its perceived by the voting public that all involved want him to go (Idol producers, Jimmy, judges and other contestants), it will make certain voters try all the harder to keep him there. Do not underestimate mothers with special needs children. Im one of them, but have not voted for him in the past. Im going to now, because I dont like the way they brought him in the top ten, used his story, and are now trying to force it down our throats that he is the worst. People dont like to see people with disabilities picked on. If they want to bring special needs people on the show, they better be prepared for the mass of people who vote based on emotion. Its a fact that he is getting millions of votes.

  • JosieX

I don’t see the reveal as a major misstep, I see it as a call to arms to people who still care about the show. The hoopla and drama over getting the judges’ Top 3 and then the big reveal…they literally drew us a picture of the disconnect. I took that as an appeal to the “grown ups”‘along the lines of “For the love of God, help us out here. Is this really what you want to see in your finale? No? Wake up!”. That to me was the message, played out in plodding excruciating detail, of the reveal.

  • http://twitter.com/KariannHart Kariann Hart

My guess is one of the girls goes before Lazaro and he gets to perform at the Disney World Idol Experience, earning a cool $50,000. That’s life.

  • woodchuck25

They are for the group performances.

  • woodchuck25

I don’t get this sentiment at all. If people really believe they just ignore the vote counts whenever it’s convenient, why even bother with all the manipulation, from song choice to performance order to favorable/sh**y edits etc.? The producers of this show are shady but I don’t believe for a second they’d misrepresent the voting results.

I do believe they do things like only revealing the top X or voting order when it suits their narrative, but they would never just make up the eliminated contestant.

  • fuzzywuzzy

“Burnell and Lazaro do not follow each other on Twitter and that says a lot. ”

Candice and Lazaro don’t follow eachother either.

  • woodchuck25

This whole Lazaro situation, and the the WGWG phenomenon before it, is exactly WHY Idol isn’t well respected in the music biz. I’m voting for Lazaro because it makes for good TV, and none of these people have a chance at a legitimate music career anyway because theyll always be tainted by the Idol association. So why not have a little fun with it?

You do realize that favoriting tweets is as easy as people hitting the up arrow on these comments right? I doubt she gave it much thought when she did this. So calling her a snake in the grass sounds a little silly to me. Still, you don’t know the relationship these two actually have.
And my point about Angie being in the top 3 was that she hasn’t been in danger yet and has consistently been ranked higher than Lazaro.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jennifer.woolley.338 Jennifer Woolley

lol, that’s asking a lot. The only place this is even talked about is Idol boards, like most of the news on Idol Season 12 that doesn’t have to do with the judges.

  • fuzzywuzzy

IMO, anyone who votes for Lazaro because he has a speech impediment and lowers their expectations that he doesn’t need to meet the same requirements/demands as the rest of the contestants is undermining all people with special needs or who have disabilities of some kind. This response to the recent THR article concurs:
    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/idol-worship/american-idol-recap-ugh-lazaro-433113

People who vote for Lazaro are ANGELS with kind hearts, and those who don’t like him are hateful, spiteful people.

No, they are misguided! As I said I have an adult disabled son. He has many friends in the disabled community and patronizing is NOT what they need or want. My son has Traumatic Brain Injury, several of his friends have a level of aphasia (speech issues/word finding, etc). But they want to be judged on their merits. This is doing him no favors and believe me, it is not a way to earn friendships and respect from others. Especially when he botches up their group numbers by being poorly prepared. I am certainly not hateful or spiteful. It is not at all ‘kind’ to lower your expectations because he stutters! He should have been gone.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I see the point about Kobe, and would see that as analogous to Candice if she had stopped following ALL of the AI12 contestants, but she’s only not following Lazaro (and vice versa), and is following everyone else.

  • KrisKD

I agree that this was probably not the best thing to do but I don’t think it is going to harm her. I think TPTB want her to win. I also think she has probably been receiving the most votes. I don’t think her favoriting these tweets is going to impact her negatively. More than likely, most people who are voting and watching the show don’t even know about them. And those who are voting for her probably agree with her. And how many people who don’t like Lazaro but take offense to this situation are going to devote two hours voting for him?

  • fuzzywuzzy

I see your POV and agree with much of it, except this:

The reveal seems like a major misstep, yet this thread had 300 comments on a Saturday night, so obviously Nigel is doing something right.

I still think that this is a “major misstep” because the kind of attention that this has received is all negative, undermines the show and takes away from celebrating the talented contestants on the show.

  • http://twitter.com/Stooch101 Stooch

Sadly this point of view thinks that they are helping him when in reality it’s hurting him. Media all over are judging his poor performance and his lack of commitment not being able to learn songs repeatedly. It’s only gonna get worse with each passing round he remains. People getting Lazaro through are patting themselves on the back but are actually the ones who are making Lazaro’s life much more difficult, after idol in terms of achieving anything. At the end of the day people can vote for who they want, but this is my only question, who would you fault more the people laughing at the joke or the people who actually made the joke possible :)

  • fuzzywuzzy

It’s in the “fine print” that used to be flashed onscreen for a microsecond at the end of each show that stated that the producers reserve the right to not accept the results of the voting under certain circumstances. I assume that it’s still in place.

  • Karen C

and the the WGWG phenomenon before it, is exactly WHY Idol isn’t well respected in the music biz.

Just about all the wgwg have respect from some in the music business, especially for the ones that are songwriters, there have been several favorable statements made about them. It’s not the same for Lazaro, yes he can sing, but I’m not sure he would get as far and as much respect in the music business as the WGWG have.

The other thing is that whoever the winner is, they will be promoted as a major artist within 6 months after the show ends. They are also compared against former winners, and maybe this is unfair to some extent, but it is what happens. I think some of the others would better be able to handle this. Also there would probably be a backlash even more if another guy wins, especially if the women are much better musically than him. I’m not sure how he would handle all this if he is having difficulties even now.

  • merkureye

Stuttering is “special needs”? Give me a break! Lazaro can certainly “pop-off” and tell Randy, “No problem Boo!” and blame others for his mistakes. Just because you stutter doesn’t make you dumb or helpless but you can certainly hide behind that weakness if you want to go that way. There seems to be a lot of enablers for Lazaro. Part of the Lazaro “stuttering” problem is an act as far as I’m concerned. He seems to be able to turn it on and off “at will” depending on how much sympathy he want to garner.

Just like that short guy during auditions (can’t remember his name and don’t care to look it up), he kept reminding everyone every chance he got that he is short. Nicki Minaj called him out on his “pity party.” The same advice should be given to Lazaro imo..

Mel Tillis didn’t let it hold him back. He turned lemons into lemonade. I don’t think Mel Tillis was ever thought of as special-needs. Mel Tillis was a fantastic country singer, had legions of fans, and earned millions of $. He never brought his stuttering into the conversation.

  • bridgette12

For some reason, I’m going to guess, these two are not bosom buddies and I’m pretty sure, after this weekend, it’s not going to be all sunshine and lollipops with this group. Again, as for Angie being ranked higher than than Lazaro, does it really matter when your season is being panned as topping season 9 on the Idol’s worst season list. Fans are running from this show and the media are talking in less than glowing terms of these contestants, with boring being the most popular adjective.

  • HMc

I am indifferent to Angie … but it is interesting that as Angie is someone who is hearing impaired, she is the other contestant in the top 10 with a known “challenge”. The difference in the show’s approach to Angie’s hearing loss ( which I would think this would be an disability in a singing competition) vs the the approach to Lazaro’s stuttering , is quite revealing.

I’m increasingly thinking Arbos’ T3 position was revealed as part of Lythgoe’s middle finger to all the network, label, and Idolsphere people who’ve been begging for a more relevant, current show with a greater variety of winners’ genres. It’d be consistent with his using themes that way, and it’s not like he wouldn’t know something about voting patterns after all these years.

Lythgoe’s track record suggests he’d have no twangs of conscience at setting up a mildly handicapped person to be pilloried and tormented, for the lulz.

Bottom line is he never should have been picked for the top twenty or top ten by the producers. Why put him in if he is not qualified to win? For his backstory, thats why. He had no business being there, but now that they used his disability for ratings, they will have to live with the people who sympathy vote. Maybe they shouldnt highlight back stories anymore, so all is fair in love and war.

Im wondering if failure to learn songs is part of his special needs? Could he be learning disabled?

It’s the same script over and over for 12 seasons now, folks. It started with Nikki McKibbin and every single season has had one “ZOMG, I can’t believe that so-and-so is still there” contestant. It’s scripted. Every season has a “villain”.

  • HopeForMusic

I think that it’s kind of difficult to criticize Angie too much for “favoriting” a few tweets. Good old Nicki showed the contestants what was acceptable when she went on a tirade against Devin on twitter. What Angie did was pretty minor in comparison, and maybe for that reason she never thought of it as being inappropriate.

  • DragonFly

Thanks for reminding of the great word “challenge”— like that much more inclusive word for people who deal w/things. I have much appreciation for Mariah’s mention of Lazaro’s courage whether some like it or not. Mentioning it didn’t mean vote for him b/c of his difficulty–it meant she was complimenting him on getting to this point– to be there at all.

  • http://twitter.com/eilonwya10 Eilonwy

If that’s so, then Lythgoe’s using Arbos as the “stick it to the Idolsphere” choice is even more cruel than I’d previously believed.

What kind of person takes a dude who’s struggling to learn one solo and a duet/trio, and advances him to a situation where he has to learn two or three new solos?

The stress created for Arbos must be incredible, both from trying to stretch further than his hypothetical brain wiring is allowing and from having to endure all the mockery when he fails.

I’d thought Cowell was mildly sociopathic, but Lythgoe’s throwing Arbos into this cruel game takes the cake.

  • Weebs787

I’m sure there are other songs from the Happy Feet soundtrack they can throw on him, amIright?

  • LeahKittyS

Wow, I never knew about that. Is it a real thing, or just a conspiracy theory/joke?

  • Weebs787

Neither Sanjaya, Turban, nor Lazaro has taken down anyone who wasn’t going down on their own anyways

^ yes, amen. THis is certainly annoying and midly entertaining that he continues to be the little engine that won’t go away…. but none of these people will win. Amber will not win. Janelle, at the moment, is top 3 at best. Until, he eliminates one of the 3 you mentioned, this isn’t anything other than a scrape on the back of Idol’s neck. Ratings were going to go down regardless of the cast, songs, etc. (ratings are down for pretty much every tv show on air right now, unless you’re on cable)

  • Weebs787

yep, it very well could be his way of saying “I have stacked the deck completely in the favor of the girls, and you have still chosen the mildly attractive male contestant who wears very tight pants and can’t really sing”

  • Weebs787

but that argument doesn’t really hold up. David has his day in the sun and was successful for a bit, Kris had a platinum selling single and got a 2nd album, Lee has since signed another recording contract with a pretty respectable indie label, and Phillip has the highest selling song Idol has seen. All of those people, if I’m remembering correctly, continued at least some of their professional contacts they gained during their major label days after their Idol recording contracts were up. That’s not even mentioning the 4-5 Idols who are really ingrained into the music biz.

  • Incipit

It’s real, LeahKittyS, and it’s still there. Slow down your DVR replay sometime, if you use one, and read the fine print. It’s one of the ways Idol PTB get around some of the FCC regulations for what an actual competition of any kind can and cannot do….they operate by Game Show regs instead.

  • LeahKittyS

Oh…oh my. So they could have been messing with the outcomes all along? Everything I know is a lie!

  • fuzzywuzzy

It was definitely part of the onscreen “fine print” disclaimers in earlier seasons, and I’ll bet that it’s part of every Idol’s contract. Whether the producers have ever used “the clause” or would us it is anyone’s guess.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Uncle Nigel have “twangs of conscience”? I don’t think that he would ever have any of those. lol

  • Incipit

“Everything I know is a lie!”

Well, not necessarily ‘everything’ – just the things the PTB say. *snerk* Seriously, if tampering with the outcome after the fact was that easy, Taylor Hicks never would have won, TPTB certainly didn’t want him. The adjustments are made much further back, on the pre-finale side of the line – the manipulations that everyone has been complaining of since Idol began…and that’s nothing new. You know TPTB stay inside the line of what is legal – you can hear it when Ryan carefully parses his comments about the results. Veterans of the show know what to listen for, deliberate statements without qualifiers. Idol watches its step there. Because the FCC ‘could’ smack them, even under Game Show regs, if they were so inclined…but they never have been inclined to open that can of worms, even though it’s very easy to file a complaint.Couple years ago, I checked it out, did a little research. There’s nothing people couldn’t know, if they wanted to look.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Oh, so it’s still there? Thanks, Incipit.

  • Happyhexer

I agree that Burnell and Devin could have handled the questions asked post-trio-trainwreck better. But it is interesting to me that they didn’t (even though it would have been in their best interests to be more gracious). To me, it suggests a simmering dissension in the contestant ranks. (Or maybe they just got fed up when Nicki tried to shoo all of them off the stage, and they were reacting to Nicki, and not Lazaro.)

  • Happyhexer

    Yes, still a non-story.

  • Xentusk

Do not underestimate mothers with special needs children. Im one of them, but have not voted for him in the past. Im going to now, because I dont like the way they brought him in the top ten, used his story, and are now trying to force it down our throats that he is the worst.

So let me get this straight, you are going to vote for him even if you don’t think he should have been put in for voting in the first place, to show Idol you don’t like the way they used him to manipulate the situation?…..
Erm…. Isn’t that what you are doing? Using him and his ‘disadvantage’ to send Idol a message? Putting him in a situation where the pressure is greater, with more potential to fail disastrously?
How does this help him again?

  • http://www.facebook.com/don.thompson.505960 Don Thompson

Just what did SHE tweet that would classify her as a whiny bitch?

  • Xentusk

But he knowingly entered a competition where he knows he will be judged….. He is performing poorly, seems indifferent, almost cocky, has affected his fellow performers ability to do and be their best, and all of a sudden he shouldn’t be judged?
This isn’t one of those things where everyone gets a trophy. He’s an adult. Will those who are rallying to ‘support’ his inability to be up to the task buy his album post Idol? You and I both know the answer is very likely “no”
Everybody on the show gets judged…even the judges…why is he the exception?

Sorry, this reply was meant for the post above yours, Maya100 and the ‘read like bullying’ post

  • Happyhexer

I do understand how some people can feel that Lazaro is being bullied simply because of the number of people who are posting comments that are seen as criticizing him (and in my view, legitimately so). It can feel like bullying when so many, numerically, jump on the same bandwagon. But I agree, valid criticism and disagreement is not the same as bullying.

  • Happyhexer

That’s my point. Multiple contestants appear to have issues with Lazaro. I remember Tim Urban being well-liked by his fellow cast-mates, despite not being a strong singer. At this point, I do suspect that where there is smoke, there is fire . . .

  • fuzzywuzzy

Exactly. I certainly don’t think that is in Lazaro’s best interests.

  • Happyhexer

It’s possible that Lazaro is learning-disabled as well as having a stutter. It’s also possible that it is harder for him to learn new songs because English is a second language for him. Or someone has speculated that he is being medicated to calm him (he seems less emotional and hasn’t cried since that mini-meltdown), and that the medication is affecting his concentration or memory.

But no matter what the reason, it isn’t fair to the other contestants. They are all asked to do the same thing. If Lazaro can’t, he doesn’t belong on the show. Period. Right now, he is going on the tour and has a chance of carving out some kind of music career for himself. He has the chance to enjoy himself. But if people misguidedly push him further than his capabilities to cope, it is Lazaro who will suffer. There will continue to be a backlash, and all the voting in the world won’t change that.

  • http://twitter.com/HaleyRSupport Elizabeth

Yes BLAME NICKI for Angie favoriting tweets. Like really? That is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve read on this website. Yall will literally say ANYTHING that comes to mind to down Nicki. This post had nothing to do with Nicki but you’re bringing her into it negatively for what? So sad.

  • HermeticallySealed

Anyone else miss the days when contestants weren’t let near media, social or otherwise, until after they were off? ::sigh::

  • Maya100

I was talking about the isolation and seeming unpleasantness toward Lazaro by the contestants. I read the comments with people’s thoughts about how people were following each other, talking about / with each other and what they were and weren’t favoriting. I commented. So, while I did get information here, I wasn’t talking about the actions here.

To me, it seems like a group (of Idols) has developed that is excluding one guy. To me, it seems like his possible inability to participate in animated discussions could be involved. That’s what I meant.

  • wordnerdarchie

When has idol ever been fair? One season a contestant was rumored to have to quit because she might not be able to continue because of health reasons but she refuted that “spoiler”. Another season there were health problems again and that person was given a pass on having to do what everyone else did. Rules are made to suit the purpose of the show and to cause buzz. I just roll with it with one eyebrow raised and with a cynical outlook on the proceedings.

  • Incipit

Not really sure what days you mean, Hermetically Sealed. Just Twitter and Facebook? OK, They didn’t exist for all of Idol’s run. But there were always media interviews, put up on their site, as long as they were under Idol’s umbrella, and there was always the ability for the Hamsters to read things about themselves on the Web. Idol ‘suggested’ that they not do that – but over the seasons, some of them said they still did. There’s no way to sequester the hamsters from the Internet and pretend social apps don’t exist…or iPhones, or text messages, etc.The PTB ‘want’ the Hamsters to electioneer, and fish for votes, and even if they only used the web for fan messages, to search iTunes or talk to their families, (or maybe contact an artist to try to get clearance for a song, Heh.) their fam and friends can tell them what’s going on, and the hometown papers start with the stories and coverage from the get-go.There have been picayune pieces blown into a Faux Big Deal before. and it will happen again, when people get bored with the show itself. IMOI really doubt too many of them have much time to waste on this stuff, with their schedules. It’s not a BD to what they are trying to do. What I do wish, since the internet is part of the package, is that these neophytes got a little media training before they were turned loose. You know – just enough to inoculate them against Foot in Mouth moments? But that mostly comes later.IMO.

  • wordnerdarchie

Sorry Eilonwy, my post disappeared & came back directed to you when I was replying to Happyhexer above you. *slaps new format*

  • HermeticallySealed

Of which they weren’t allowed to do while on the show. It’s only been the last couple of seasons that they have been allowed access to social media or other types until after they were voted off. That is what i am referring to.

  • Incipit

You mean like Youtube and Myspace – does anyone till do Myspace? They couldn’t post on those – but their friends could, and did. Like the evidence of past musical experience that TPTB tried to erase? That didn’t usually work very well. Heh.But I think that was Cryptkeeper Clive – who didn’t really have a handle on using social media in any way. After he was kicked upstairs, in Season 8, the PTB started experimenting with Twitter and Facebook accounts in Season 9, first individually and then as one entity – I haven’t really paid attention to see what they are doing now. The Hamsters still have things they can’t do while on the show – and TPTB still look the other way when that is convenient for them. So ‘allowed’ is still a flexible concept, as far as I can see.

  • HopeForMusic

I think both situations are similar, being related to what some would think was inappropriate tweeting, so I think the comment fits the conversation. For what you ask? Because I was struck by the similarities, nothing more, nothing less. I will reiterate that I think that what Angie did was pretty minor, and what judges do certainly could, not necessarily would, but could influence those younger and who might be influenced by their actions. Oh, I said NOTHING untrue about Nickie, and I wasn’t trying to cast her in a bad light, so why so mad?

  • mjsbigblog

Hermetically Sealed is right… until the last couple of years, there were no interviews on the red carpet or elsewhere (like hometown newspapers) with finalists until after the finale.

  • mjsbigblog

This type of post would get a rise out of fans no matter the season. Take my word for it.

  • Falls Guy

“For some reason, I’m going to guess, ..” ahhhh we finally have the problem at the very center of all this!

  • tripp_ncwy

He is a high school graduate & he seems to have no problem remembering the words to his solo song.

  • tripp_ncwy

No way would they mess with the credibility of the results just to get rid of Lazaro. The would just fall on their own sword first.

  • Incipit

Yes, that’s no different than what I said in the first reply; until TPTB decided to use the social apps, there were only Idol sanctioned Interviews on their website, and Hometown news “stories”, not interviews with the contestants. But plenty of coverage got out without talking to Idols, and they were able to read anything on the Web – - The “Hometown Papers” wrote their stories by interviewing anyone the contestant may have known…and the radio station dj’s talking about them were also reported on. The Good Old Days weren’t so different in what the Hamsters could know, if they wanted to. So no, I don’t miss them, Hermetically Sealed. This ‘no access’ was just a pretense – they have always had access to read – but not to reply. And the replies are where they need some Media Training, IMO.

  • vd88

You think any season that’s not season 10 and doesn’t have James Durbin is a disaster. lol

  • fuzzywuzzy

    Oh, OK.

  • vd88

I know new comments be popping up but all I keep seeing is the same comments from like 17 hrs. ago, yesterday. I know ppl keep commenting on this story, I can’t even can’t call it a story, ppl keep commenting on tweets. lol I really can’t see any new comments.

  • Karen C

It’s possible it takes longer for him to learn the songs. The solo songs except for In My Life he supposedly had longer to learn. It is when they do the group songs, which it sounds like they learn just the day before, is when he forgets the words.

  • girlygirl

Meanwhile, in another example of why the contestants should probably not be on twitter, did anyone see Amber’s rude “who are you again” tweet to Michael Slezak? So he didn’t like your outfit, so what? Nice diva attitude, Amber #smh

  • wordnerdarchie

Yeah, I saw it too. And she keeps RT all those flattering comments of fans. Glad I don’t follow her timeline.

  • wordnerdarchie

I know, so frustrating. I have to click on newest every time I enter a thread, cause it keeps going back to yesterday.

  • girlygirl

yeah, that bugs me and gets a quick unfollow from me when celebs do that.

I thought Amber was a sweet girl, but it looks like she may have a bit of a big head. And that’s going to be an awkward Idology interview, lol

  • bridgette12

LOL! Good grief, what the devil is going on with these girls. Have the lost every bit of common sense they got.

  • http://twitter.com/HighTensions Jake W.

Wooo. Check out Amber’s beef with Michael. She is going ham on him on twitter. And she’s getting mad while defending Lazaro.
    https://twitter.com/AmberAI12/with_replies
VFTW has got some juicy screen grabs on her tweets.

  • LeahKittyS

Again with the “girls.” Only Angie and now Amber have done anything remotely negative. Candice, Janelle, and Kree are being smart and staying out of this.

  • LeahKittyS

Oh, great. First one throws shade at another, now a different one goes after bloggers? What next?!

  • taylor

Nope, you are going to have to add sweet little Janelle to your list. She retweeted something about Nicki and the duet last week.

Burnell and Devin threw shade at Lazaro on stage after the duet. Paul and Devin hinted at some problems in their interview with Slezak. Burnell and Candice don’t follow Lazaro on twitter.
    Who’s left? Kree and Curtis?

  • taylor

Have we seen this retweet from Uncle Nigel?

    http://tmi.me/RtQHC

RT @CloverBoy42: @dizzyfeet you need to give the judges a “boot” in addition to a save. It is ridiculous that Lazaro is still on. He’s not as talented.

  • HKfan

I’m also a mother of a special needs son (extremely mentally and physically disabled), I cannot vote, but if I could I would not vote for Lazaro as he is the worst singer and performer left in the competition. I also don’t agree with you calling him ‘special needs’, he has a stutter albeit a severe one, but he is physically and mentally capable of doing and achieving whatever he wants in life, he has a speech impediment, not a disability.

  • LeahKittyS

Now the producers are getting involved?!?! This has spiraled out of control! American Idol is sinking harder than the Titanic. Anybody know what we should do now?

  • taylor

    Abandon ship! Paddle for shore!

  • LeahKittyS

Well, good to know someone appreciates my sense of humor…but as faithful as I’ve been to Idol, I may end up jumping ship after this season.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bug-Menot/100003601718986 Bug Menot

    The band should play on.

  • http://twitter.com/1outside Maj

well that’s a big turn-off for me. well done Amber. you just changed places with Angie as my least favourite girl. and btw, the outfit was fugly. I don’t mind a bit of urban flavour in clothing but this just didn’t look good. Slezak’s interview with Adam Lambert was the reason I even started watching this circus and I won’t let anybody throw shade at him. Unlike some of these contestants he actually knows this show inside out and is a giant music fan. I don’t agree with him on everything all the time but I respect him…and the fact Amber doesn’t know who Michael is or in case she does she does not respect him, that just indicates this girl needs to do some proper studying and growing up. Of course Michael handled it as the sensible elder he is. ;)

  • Face

we’ll have to agree to disagree on the boys busing Lazaro… I believe they did… ultimately it’s just our individual personal opinion / interpretation of events…
however I certainly agree Lazaro needs to take more personal responsibility…
I’m also not suggesting Angie is wrong (or right for that matter) to do something like favourite a tweet… but she does need to accept that different people will view that in different ways (positive, neutral or negative) and that it may have consequences for her that she never anticipated…

  • Face

I think they were probably reacting as much to Nicki’s comments / the entire situation as by Lazaro specifically (though that’s just an impression)… i think a situation was engineered by TPTB (to make ‘good tv’) by putting them in that situation and having Nicki berate all 3 of them in such a way… so i understand why they were incredibly frustrated by what happened… in many ways it just demonstrates their lack of experience and naivety… but they still chose to respond that way… which is the only point i was making…

  • irockhard

    Welp. To quote LeahKittyS:

Now the producers are getting involved?!?! This has spiraled out of control! Judges fighting with judges, judges feuding with contestants, contestants throwing shade at other contestants, contestants going after bloggers, and now the producers are in on the storm! American Idol is sinking harder than the Titanic. Anybody know what we should do now?

  • irockhard

It’s Michael SLEEZAK so I approve. I don’t care for anyone but I will now watch all of Amber’s performances every week just because she threw shade at that a$$hole. If she goes after Jim CUNTIELLO too then I’ll buy her album.

  • janeeyre

Wow, I just checked out her tweets and nearly all are retweets of how great she is. Girl needs to learn some humility. And the Slezak diss? Lets see, next year she’ll be another Idol has been trying to grab any pathetic gig she can, and slezak will continue with his awesome writing. He has proven himself, she has not. She needs a reality check in a big way. Next Whitney Houston? we had Whitney, her music will live on forever. There are enough Whitney imitators out there. Need some fresh music.

  • bridgette12

I’ve never seen anything like this, this is the ultimate stroking her own ego, by retweeting nice things her fans are saying. You would think she would say thank you to her fans and leave it at that, but instead, she’s literally endorsing what they say and retweeting it again just to see in print.

  • fuzzywuzzy
  • http://twitter.com/eilonwya10 Eilonwy

If you’ve “never seen anything like this,” lucky you for not following some of the lesser lights of S10 and S11. Ever since getting their hot little hands on individual Twitter accounts, Idol contestants have been retweeting the adoration of their fans. Holcomb’s not the only one doing it this year, either.

They probably picked up the habit from indie bands, as I’ve unfollowed quite a few over their flooding my timeline with RTs of fan adoration.

  • bridgette12

I never followed the twitter accounts of any of these Idols, if you need to continually retweet nice things that fans say about you, it shows your someone who lacks confidence and need reassurance all the time.

  • standtotheright

they were able to read anything on the Web

Yes, they were able to read it. But there is a clear and obvious difference between “furtively seeking out commentary while officially being advised to ignore it” and “having to deal with direct, personal insults because one is officially being advised to read comments from fans in order to respond to the favorable ones and develop stronger fan relationships.” I don’t understand why that statement is even controversial.

If they did not have to directly engage with the public until after the season, they’d have more time for that media training outside of the competition. Which would mean they’d likely do better at putting that training into practice.

  • standtotheright

    1) RTs are generally endorsements (unless one posts a disclaimer in the Twitter profile). Favorites are not (many people use them as bookmarks).
    2) The number of people who read blogs to scope out Twitter drama and the number of people who read Twitter for drama directly *combined* are probably not enough to swing the tide of votes. All they can do is help craft a narrative. And the narrative that contestants think that Arbos is undeserving is so widespread I don’t think it can hurt any one of them individually.
    3) As someone pointed out below, the fact that Miller has her own challenge in this competition and hasn’t highlighted it gives her a lot more cover than a fully abled person making the same critique.
I just don’t think this damages Miller in the slightest.

  • standtotheright

According to Mythbusters, two people can fit on the board. So make sure to tie your lifepreserver underneath and hang on for 63 minutes.

  • standtotheright

Again, part of the problem is that they are likely being encouraged to do it. “RT fan compliments! It lets them know you’ve heard what they are saying and then they’ll vote for you more!”
Not to say that “lacking confidence and needing reassurance” aren’t factors, but I think they are being told to vote-grub because committed voters are more likely to buy tour tickets later.

  • standtotheright

Glover not following Arbos on Twitter, even if his absence is conspicuous to those actually looking at her following list, isn’t negative. It’s neutral.

“..If they did not have to directly engage with the public until after the season, they’d have more time for that media training outside of the competition. Which would mean they’d likely do better at putting that
    training into practice.”

Very possibly true – it’s a logical sequence. Except, we have no reports or data that these Hamsters receive Media Training at all, in ‘or’ out of the competition…and plenty of evidence (ie just last night) that they really, really need it.Which side do you come down on – TPTB are simply remiss in not giving the Hamsters some Public Relations 101 training before turning them loose on Twitter – or TPTB are deliberately omitting the training or even any oversight of Twitter engagements in favor of allowing the clueless Hamsters to rile up various fanbases for the buzz? I believe what these serial Twitter occurrances (not so significant by themselves, but put together showing a pattern) has led me to wonder…what was the real reason for the original prohibition, and what is the real reason it was (mostly) removed, do you think? I think it doesn’t reflect well on TPTB – but nothing much does, IMO. The use of social media with a purpose would be effective buzz ‘for the contestants’, and better than ignoring it. The misuse of social media is primarily effective buzz ‘for Idol the show’JMO.

  • http://twitter.com/eilonwya10 Eilonwy

All of the singers* are considerably more tactful on Twitter than Lythgoe, who has called fans “morons” for years.

*The term “hamsters” really bothers me. Perhaps to others it implies that the singers are cute and fluffy, but it always strikes me as implying that they aren’t human beings with their own ideas and goals — or that they’re happy with being on a treadmill where TPTB quash their creativity with stale themes and lousy arrangements.

  • standtotheright

I don’t think there are any dedicated conspiracies. FB didn’t have the expanded fan page functionality, and Twitter didn’t have the user base, for either to serve as effective loci for theoretical fan development until just a few years ago. MySpace (having a hideous UI) only made sense if they could add music to their pages, which I’m sure licensing agreements made more difficult.

So I think it’s just that producers saw the shiny thing that alumni were using and figured that the contestants would build fanbases faster if they were allowed to start them on the show. I think the downsides of pushing them into that kind of interaction were either outright ignored or considered less important in light of the need to build up the “t-shirt and signs” crowd who added tour revenue. I don’t think it does much one way or the other for general show buzz; it’s just about engaging the already-invested core fans more.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jennifer.woolley.338 Jennifer Woolley

It bothers me too. I understood hamsters for Big Brother contestants because it was like we were watching them in their human sized habitrail, but not extended to other types of reality show contestants.

  • http://twitter.com/Stooch101 Stooch

So Angie is “bad” because she favorite’d a tweet, but there’s no issue with Lazaro’s condescending attitude towards another contestant basically calling her a “hick girl dancing in cornfields, who actually still has her teeth”. At least Angie wans’t expecting the world to see her thoughts :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/jenny.williams.391 Jenny Williams

There is nothing wrong with RTing compliments. Fans love it when they receive any sort of attention from their idols. I’m on twitter too and you can see the pure jubilation on some fans when their idol RTs or Favs their tweets especially younger fans. Nothing wrong with that if it makes them happy.

  • girlygirl

I have a problem with it because it clutters up my twitter feed. If anyone I follow starts RT people left and right, that is an automatic unfollow.

Also, it does come off as “ego stroking” for the person. Seriously, who needs to have you RT 100s of people who are basically saying versions of the same thing? “we love you, you’re amazing”.? A simple, general shout out along the lines of “thank you to all my fans for the support/compliments” would let the fans know their compliments have been seen and appreciated — and again, wouldn’t clutter up my twitter feed, lol

I don;t mind the occasional retweet, especially if the comment was funny or unusual or in some other way stands out. But a lot of the contestants go WAY overboard on the RTs and it is extemely annoying.

(which is one reason why I only follow 2 ex-Idols on twitter; neither of whom are prone to RTs, although they will do it on occasion)

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=501482875 Kesia Monteith

I hate that term no matter what. It just rubs me the wrong way, because these are people, not animals in a lab experiment.

What about the thought that they shouldn’t sing in duets during competition nights?
