Ex One Direction member, Zayn Malik, released his highly anticipated single and video for “Pillowtalk” on Thursday (1/28). The video features sexy scenes with his rumored gal pal, model and reality star, Gigi Hadid.
The sound of the solo effort is a sharp turn to R&B from his poppier days with One Direction. He revealed in an interview with Lowe’s Beats 1 show that he never wanted to be in One Direction. “I always wanted to go, from the first year really,” Zayn said. “I never really wanted to be in the band. I just gave it a go because it was there at the time.”
“I realized I couldn’t put any input in,” he told Fader in another interview. “I couldn’t give my opinion on this or that because it didn’t fit the grain of what we were as a band and what we represented.”
The song is from Zayn’s debut album, Mind of Mine. No release date has been announced yet. The singer reveals there will be “about 17-18 songs” on the album.
