The reigning X Factor champion currently rents a flat in Fulham – a stone’s throw away from PRINCE HARRY’S favourite nightspots Public and Boujis.

But while glad to be based in the British capital, the down-to-earth Essex lad is far from comfortable.

He says: “I moved after the X Factor tour. It’s quite expensive and posh. It can get f****** boring. I came home the other night at about 10 o’clock and I wanted to go out for a pint but this place was shut and nowhere else was open.

“I was like, ‘What the f*** am I gonna do? There’s nowhere to go.’ And everyone’s a bit funny round here. But I have to be in London because that’s where the label and the management are based.

Steve Brookstein Blog: He’s not the Messiah
I’ve always maintained that The X Factor was a great experience for me. Apart from the last week when I had some lies in the press and Sharon’s outburst on the final night I truly loved every minute of every week.

Only when I realise how things were manipulated at the label did I get upset, but even then if I had been given a small fraction of the £1 million prize I was promised I would have gone away quietly with a “Thank you for the opportunity.” Instead they gave me nothing but a huge amount of bad publicity.

Now according to press reports Matt Cardle isn’t too happy with The X Factor and I’m surprised. Unless Cowell has been holding him down in a headlock and vigorously rubbing his scalp with his knuckles on a daily basis, I would not have advised him to show any sort of dissension. Not yet anyway.

Two million viewers gone, phone votes plummet… but Simon Cowell IS happy with the all new X Factor
After losing two million viewers, and being beaten by BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing in the ratings it appears that Simon Cowell’s huge gamble to leave his flagship reality show The X Factor to launch in the U.S., may have put the show in crisis.

Phone votes have plummeted and the TV talent show’s 9.6 million viewers during Saturday’s live shows was beaten in the ratings by the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, which had 9.75million tuning in despite its barely revamped format.

Sunday night’s results show rose to 11.4million viewers but compared to 13.4million for the same stage of the competition last year, it’s clear that the new format is not quite yielding the much-hoped for results.

And today, ITV is expected to discover that phone votes for the first public eviction have also plummeted as newspaper reports today suggest that viewers have lost faith with the acts, which would mean a major drop in income for ITV and producers.

But despite the falling ratings, a drop in phone votes and reports of unrest behind the scenes, an upbeat Cowell insists he is very happy with the way the show is going.

Without acerbic Simon Cowell at the helm, X Factor is falling apart
Say what you like about Simon Cowell – and I have often – but he knows how to put together a talent show that draws in the viewers.

True, The X Factor has always been about as reflective of the vibrancy of the UK music scene as EastEnders is of British TV drama, but it’s always been entertaining and slick.

Without acerbic Cowell at the helm, however, it’s falling apart. Why? Let’s take a look.

Watch out Misha, that taffeta could choke you…
There is something astounding about the new series of the X Factor. Something quite sensational, something very different from what has gone on before, something that just has to be said.

And it is not just that this year, the acts all started crying before their auditions, before they got a massive yes or a sorry it’s a no, before they nailed it or not, before they began the journey to pop fame or to pick up their return ticket to that sad town called Oblivion.

It is not that evil ringmaster Simon Cowell isn‘t there – although that hasn’t helped.

It is this. So far, the 2011 X Factor hasn’t got the X Factor.

Time to say goodbye: Nu Vibe say a tearful farewell and the emotion proves too much for fellow contestant Craig
It’s never easy to say goodbye, but Nu Vibe must have found it especially hard as they moved out of the X Factor house today.

The boy band were voted off of the reality TV show on Saturday night but didn’t leave until today.

But it seems their fellow contestants were more upset at seeing them go as Craig Colton was seen crying as the group drove off and Misha B was hugging the boys right before they left.

Exclusive: ‘X Factor’ Nu Vibe exit interview: ‘Gary Barlow is against us’
