X Factor UK 2018: Nile Rodgers to Fill in For Robbie Williams

Nile Rodgers X Factor

Due to prior commitments in South America, Robbie Williams will be missing a few X Factor UK shows. Set to take his place as mentor to the groups is the legendary musician, producer and songwriter, Nile Rodgers.

Nile will sit in Robbie’s chair on Sunday and for both shows next weekend. Robbie would have missed Saturday’s show as well, if it hadn’t been taped ahead. SPOILER ALERT. Saturday’s performance episode will not be live!

The musician has already appeared on this season’s X Factor UK–helping Louis Tomlinson mentor the Boys at the Judges Houses which took place in Ibiza.

“I had such a great time with Louis at the Judge’s House in Ibiza a couple of weeks ago,” Nile said in statement, “that when the opportunity came to step in for Robbie I could not say ‘no’.”

Not only will Nile be sitting on the judges panel, he’ll also be running a special “masterclass” for Robbie’s Groups category this week. Additionally, he’ll join Robbie at the studio to help get his acts ready for performance.

“From CHIC and Sister Sledge to Duran Duran and Daft Punk, I’ve had great experiences with Groups in my career,” said Nile, “so I look forward to giving them as much support as I can while Rob is away!”

Twelve acts remain in the competition. Robbie lost his first act last week when LMA Choir were eliminated. Misunderstood, Acacia & Aaliyah and United Vibe remain in his category. This week’s musical theme is “Fright Night.” And on Sunday, One Direction’s Liam Payne and former X Factor winner James Arthur are set to perform.
