  1. Congrats to Kris for top 5 on VH1. Looks like Adam’s time on that show is almost done. He had a good, long run so there’s nothing with that.

  4. IIHY is getting great updates on Pop. Time for the iTunes rank to catch up with the increased radio play. Ditto for September on HAC. I wonder if it has the potential to go #1 in that format.

Time for a new single for Archie. This one is pretty done.

  5. Boy it just seems like Kris and Archie needed better singles. At least Kris’s is doing something on the VH1 countdown. And LLWD sure doesn’t want The Truth to be ahead of it on i-tunes.That song just doesn’t want to die.And am glad his album is still appearing on i-tunes even if it doesn’t sell awhole lot money wise. That’s great that Adam IIHY is doing so well,I really love that song.

  6. good for the TT to get to #5 on VH1. Will this help on the radio?

Doubtful. But it should help alot with sales. LLWD still gets played on the radio. It just doesn’t show up on current charts anymore.

  7. IIHY is getting great updates on Pop. Time for the iTunes rank to catch up with the increased radio play. Ditto for September on HAC

itunes rank/sales for both are pretty consistent (in fact IIHY is doing better) with their overall BB airplay rank. IIHY is #48 on airplay chart. Sept. is #57. The songs ahead of IIHY on itunes, in general are either higher on the airplay chart (and therefore have much higher AI), or are brand new lead singles where the album is not for sale yet. Same with Sept. Seems to me both IIHY and Sept. are doing as expected saleswise.

  8. good for the TT to get to #5 on VH1. Will this help on the radio?

No, the HAC bullet is -270. The song is falling very fast. The main benefit of getting the video played on VH1 is to get people to buy a few more copies of the single, but obviously that bump won’t be huge or last long based on just two or three airings of the song on the weekend.

  9. I’m glad that TT’s video is at least doing well on vh1. Any extra exposure and sales are good. And II hope it will continue to do well on the vh1 countdown for the next weeks as well. I wish that the video would have released earlier, because than it would have had a much better chance to help radioplay(at this point it’s falling too fast). I just hope that this won’t make Jive ignore the drop in the airplay and that the third single will be released really soon.

  10. I think it is so awesome that WWFM is still in the top 200 of itunes almost a year after release. I hope it makes it to November!

I also agree that IIHY’s Itunes sales are pretty consistent with the amount of AI and airplay. Maroon 5’s song is in the top 10 of CHR and is only #26 on Itunes, and that is with almost 10 million more AI than IIHY. Secrets has had so much promo on TV AND movies and is only a few spots ahead. Others have the benefit of being on Rythmic and POP charts. Combine those AI’s and they will be alot higher than IIHY’s also. IIHY is doing fine, but I too wish it were better.

  11. Congrats to Kris for TT MV jumping up to #5 on the VH1 countdown (and this is with most of the harcore fans on my twitter feed claiming they only voted once or twice this week :) ). Too bad it took so long for them to film & release it — if the video had been released soon after the single came out, maybe the sales and radio play would have been better. Probably still wouldn’t have been a smash hit, but I bet it would’ve been much better than what it has actually done.

The timing for stuff with this song was just all screwed up. This just frustrates the heck out of me…

ETA: And the VH1 countdown seems to resulted in another surge up the iTunes chart. TT was at #550 less than 1 1/2 hours ago (according to post above) — it is now at #365

  12. Too bad it took so long for them to film & release it — if the video had been released soon after the single came out, maybe the sales and radio play would have been better. Probably still wouldn’t have been a smash hit, but I bet it would’ve been much better than what it has actually done.

I think it would have sold a few more copies, but that’s about it. The video doesn’t change that the biggest problem is that the song is just not radio friendly, and is the type of song that people will ignore, unless they are very familiar with the artist who sings it.

  13. Since IIHY is making gains in audience it should start to move up iTunes. I was just commenting that the move up iTunes should start to show up soon. Ditto for September although most of its airplay is on HAC which works a little differently.

  14. I like TT and hoped it would do better for Kris. Is it really considered done and time to move on to the next single or can TT still move up the charts? (Hope so!) What’s the reason it hasn’t done as well as his 1st single?
Any predictions on how Adam’s IIHY will do in the end and finish up on the charts? Will it do as well as WWFM? Is it on the same track timing wise? (Again, hope so!) I like SW for his next release!
I feel really bad about the very talented Allison. I wish someone could write a great song for her and it flies up the charts. My thinking on her, is she’s young like Swift but her voice/style don’t attract the same young girl/tween fans. She’s caught kind of in between worlds in a way. JMHO.

  15. Does anyone know when Archie’s song will be released on HAC? I’m wondering if it would do better on that chart.

  16. Grats to all on the good numbers. Great to see that Kris’ ‘The Truth’ hit #5 in the VH1 top 20 countdown. I’m watching Lifehouse’ ‘All In’ on VH1 as I type :) Their video is a montage of concerts and I really like it and them. I’m really looking forward to them touring with Kris and the KAB.

I’m not going to join the doomsday theorists. ‘The Truth’ is a good song, albeit the album version being better than the radio remix. It’s dynamite when performed live and I see it picking up both sales and radio play as people discover Kris Allen.

Of course, I’m also ready for single #3 and want it to be a Kris co-write.

  17. I think WWFM peaked at #13 on the Mediabase Top 40 chart. It’s possible that IIHY will do better there. But I think WWFM had sold more downloads at this point that IIHY. I’m sure a big Adam fan would know for sure.

  18. I think it would have sold a few more copies, but that’s about it. The video doesn’t change that the biggest problem is that the song is just not radio friendly, and is the type of song that people will ignore, unless they are very familiar with the artist who sings it.

I disagree with this. ‘The Truth’ was one of the songs that stood out to me when I first heard the album. If you only listen to Pop radio, maybe you don’t think it’s radio friendly. For what I listen to, it’s very radio friendly.

TT is done on radio and it is time to move for the third single. The main reason it hasn’t done well is that it’s not radio-friendly enough and not being a summer song also didn’t helped. They just chose the wrong single.
I don’t know how high IIHY will peak, it depends how much longevity it will have. I hope it will make to the top 15 or higher.
I’m not completely sure how it is doing in comparison to WWFM.

  20. It’s really unlikely that The Truth will gain in radio play. Stations are really slowing down in spins and it’s had -40 to -50 losses in spins for the last three or four days. It’s also not getting new adds in the HAC format. It’s last add in that format was over two weeks ago. It’s AI has really gone down a lot in the last couple of weeks from being heard by 5+million people to less than 3 million people now. Stranger things have happened, but if you go to Pulse and Yes, those people have watched radio for years and they think its done.

It would be smarter for them to move on to the next single and get that ready for promoting during the Lifehouse tour. The Truth just wasn’t right for summer, I think. From what you guys say, there are some great radio friendly songs on the album to be heard.

  21. TT is done on radio and it is time to move for the third single. The main reason it hasn’t done well is that it’s not radio-friendly enough and not being a summer song also didn’t helped.

I thought that TT was an excellent HAC song when it was released. I was obviously wrong.

  22. I don’t know what WWFM had sold by this time in its history. Its hard to compare them since WWFM had the benefit of the after Christmas gift card buying and had Oprah and other television performances. I hope that sales increase, wish he had a tv performance coming up, but don’t see that happening. I imagine that the ranking (maybe not actual sales) will really go down after the VMAs and the songs performed on that show move up.

  23. I imagine that the ranking (maybe not actual sales) will really go down after the VMAs and the songs performed on that show move up.

Yup. And if Linkin Park’s album inspires a track downloading fest it will get pushed down some more, even if it sells the same.

It is almost guaranteed to end up at least gold though, so I don’t know if its a big worry. You don’t want a Top 15 song that sells less that gold. That’s just all kinds of wrong. LOL

  24. I don’t think TT is “radio friendly” for Pop radio but I am not sure why it’s struggled on Hot AC chart — it seems to fit it quite well with most of the stuff in that format. I’m also a little surprised it hasn’t been added by a bunch of AC stations, because it should definitely fit that format. But maybe that will still happen

But they should definitely move onto a 3rd single for the Lifehouse tour. Fingers crossed…

Does anybody know what the iTunes peak was for TT? Thanks.

  26. Speaking of moving on, how much longer before Jive gives up on SBL and moves on to a 2nd single for Archie (Elevator)? I saw SBL has fallen off the iTunes Top 1000, which really surprises me

  27. butterbean

I don’t remember the exact rank, but I think TT got as high as somewhere in the 80’s on the iTunes chart soon after it was first released back in late May

  28. Speaking of moving on, how much longer before Jive gives up on SBL and moves on to a 2nd single for Archie (Elevator)? I saw SBL has fallen off the iTunes Top 1000, which really surprises me

Just like with “The Truth”, nobody knows that the song exists. It never even reached an AI of 1 million, which is not a significant number of people to make any type of impact on itunes.

  29. I don’t think TT is “radio friendly” for Pop radio but I am not sure why it’s struggled on Hot AC chart — it seems to fit it quite well with most of the stuff in that format.

I think that both formats have shown that they will push artists who are known. People put down pop for only playing “name” artists, or whoever is popular, but HAC is guilty of the same thing. This is just not the type of song that most people are going to pay attention to if it’s not being sung by someone who they know, and the same goes for radio PDs playing the song. If it was being sung by Rob Thomas or John Mayer, they would have played it.

Adding Pat didn’t help either, because I don’t think that people, including PDs, see this as the type of song that they would expect from Kris, so adding Pat just proves to them that Kris is just the “singer” on the song.

  30. This is just not the type of song that most people are going to pay attention to if it’s not being sung by someone who they know, and the same goes for radio PDs playing the song. If it was being sung by Rob Thomas or John Mayer, they would have played it.

Very insightful and I agree 100% even though I liked the song and thought it would do better.

  31. People put down pop for only playing “name” artists, or whoever is popular, but HAC is guilty of the same thing

Case in point: If It’s Love and Misery being the #1 and #2 songs on the HAC charts.

I think that Jive hoped that adding Pat will make PD give it more of a chance because they thought that PD will think that Train doing well means that Pat’s name alone can help a song. I think that what Jive didn’t considered is that TT doesn’t sound anything like HSS and Pat is known as part of Train, but not really as a solo artist.

  33. According to this site, they’re sold out. The front page says that Glasgow is available, but when you click it, the page says sold out.

I checked another ticket site and it is the same.

  34. How big were each of the venues? I know one was under 1,000. I just don’t get why they just don’t book him into one 3-5,000 seat venue instead of making him strain his voice night after night at 4 of them.

  35. I love the truth but thought it wasn’t a good summer single.I really wanted AWM,CSA,or WAOMF as his second single.I would go for one of those three for his next one.I really want the next to be one he cowrote but love WAOMF alot. When we went to the concert my husband really was getting into WAOMF the most next to AWM.

  36. How big were each of the venues? I know one was under 1,000.

Two are under 1000 from info I could find. Birmingham is 600, Manchester is 800, Glasgow is 1362 and London is 2000. There will probably be announcements of larger venues. From what I heard, everything except Glasgow sold out in less than an hour. Glasgow sold out the first day.

There is rumored to be a date for Ireland that hasn’t been announced yet.

  37. How big were each of the venues? I know one was under 1,000. I just don’t get why they just don’t book him into one 3-5,000 seat venue instead of making him strain his voice night after night at 4 of them.

I also don’t understand this. Or why the tickets were so cheap. You can find people selling them for way more pretty much from the start. I really don’t get it, his shows aren’t really cheap (dancers and all) and considering the way he has to use his voice every show…

  38. Birmingham is 600, Manchester is 800,

Not smart. Kinda cruel to his voice, imo.

There will probably be announcements of larger venues.

Well, happened in Australia. Somebody didn’t research enough, I guess.

  39. I also don’t understand this. Or why the tickets were so cheap.

Yep, I was surprised by the ticket price, £17 ($27) for London.
They could have been twice as much and the venues would still have sold out to the fans, I think.

  40. maybe it’s easier to book smaller venues and move to larger ones if necessary, rather than the other way around?

  41. I still am stymied by the timing of the MV for TT. What a waste of money. I mean, I could see waiting a bit for the MV to see if the song was going to have any traction, but the song did seem to move up the charts there for a bit, I mean it was a top 20 HAC song, so not like there was no sustaind upwards movement. So releasing the video much ealier, might have helped at least sell more copies of the thing. Which would have been nice.

I get that the alternative is to make a MV right away, and the song might not catch on at all, a la SBL, and that’s a waste of money as well. But there is a happy medium that TT’s video so didn’t make. Very frustrating.

And yeah, SBL looks dead as well, so time to move on.

I really do hope that Kris gets another single. I know I know, albums out of the top 200 don’t get them, but hey! Kris at least had one good selling song, and if Jive would just do another Pop song for him, he probably could have another good selling song. I know, I’m probably hoping in vain for that one, but sigh.

  42. How big were each of the venues? I know one was under 1,000. I just don’t get why they just don’t book him into one 3-5,000 seat venue instead of making him strain his voice night after night at 4 of them.

It’s far better to sell small venues at the start of your career. If the artist risks a bigger venue, or adds an extra date at a venue and doesn’t quite sell it out, the media, and sadly much of the online community, condemn the tour as a “disaster.”

The media also love reporting tickets selling online for greater than face price. But that is just management under supplying the market to keep their artist at a premium for media purposes. You could have four dates at a venue and fully sell out 3, and 90% of the 4th and to the media you’ve failed because the remaining tickets appear online for less than face value and the artist’s tour has “failed.” If you stopped at 3, it’s a great “success.”

It’s preferable to risk your voice short term than your future career long term with bad headlines that actually are far from the reality.

The concept of a “sell-out” tour is meaningless. Any artist can sell out a tour if they choose the venues and pricing carefully. It’s a marketing phenomenon but one that sadly the media puts far too much emphasis on. (they do the same with chart positions rather than records sold – #1 with 10000 sold is more important than #2 with 50000 sold.) It should be total tickets, preferably box-office (or records) sold.

  43. I also don’t understand this. Or why the tickets were so cheap.
Yep, I was surprised by the ticket price, £17 ($27) for London

I don’t understand either, it costs me about $70 each for GA of Australia shows, and they were sold out in minutes for both Sydney and Melbourne.
(I just checked my credit card, it is $ 63 each.)

  44. I also don’t understand this. Or why the tickets were so cheap.

I don’t understand either, it costs me about $70 each for GA of Australia shows, and they were sold out in minutes for both Sydney and Melbourne.

When you’re dealing with independent promoters for individual or small groups of venues, especially scattered all over the world, you end up with disparities like that. They are obviously interested in making a profit, so each one makes their best guess on what the market will bear. While it’s likely that those UK prices were a miscalculation of what fans were willing to pay, they probably didn’t want to take the risk of higher priced tickets on someone who in that particular region’s market is a bit of an unknown. Presumably they ran their numbers and it’s still enough of a profit to make the concerts worthwhile.

  45. I haven’t been following Kris, but saw his video today on the VH1 countdown for the first time. At least I tried to watch it. My husband wanted to talk all the way through it. I wasn’t able to give the song or video my whole attention but the one thing I noticed was how thin Kris looked in the video.

Was disappointed Adam was so far down on the countdown (although in reality it’s good he’s still there), but I haven’t voted for quite a while.

  46. I like TT, and the video too. Too bad it only has 58k views on VH1 – I think fans need to watch it too, not just vote. But IMHO the song is a pretty song, and Kris sings it well.

While I agree that there is a PR angle to it, frankly it’s just good business to book venues that you believe you can fill. Even if there was no press on the situation at all, the larger venues often have more costs associated with booking them, so it makes sense to really focus on finding that perfect balance between too many seats and not enough seats, to ensure that you get the biggest bang for the buck and maximize your profit margin.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like it’s as easy as you describe to estimate this perfect balance, otherwise all artists would sell out all venues.

I agree with Cindy — you cannot compare IIHY to WWFM. Adam had TV appearances where he sang WWFM, including Oprah, Leno, and Ellen. Between weeks 9 and 23, he racked up over 50,000 downloads per week each week except for one (week 11 – 49,000). Later, of course he had the Idol mentor gig and that week he sold 100,000 copies followed by 86,000! Right now, after 41 weeks, WWFM has had over 1.51 million downloads and still going relatively strong. IIHY, so far, has 375,000 and, of course, is easily the best selling single, right now, among Idols. In fact, it has been the best Idol selling single in the last five weeks. It looks like it will zoom past 500K (for Gold!) and we will have to wait and see if it keeps momentum and gives Adam a second Platinum single. Adam’s touring schedule is so busy that a TV appearance in which he sings IIHY is not too likely, as least not in the near future. But, if he is asked and he manages to squeeze in a couple appearances, I would say that IIHY will definitely go Platinum…

  50. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like it’s as easy as you describe to estimate this perfect balance, otherwise all artists would sell out all venues.

I agree, the balance is difficult to optimize, that’s why clever management of a new artist undersupplies the market. If they think the balance point is at anywhere between 1 and 2 venues worth in capacity (repeat nights at same venue), then just book 1; if 3, or near 3, then just book 2. Never book the estimated balance point’s worth. Once well established, you can maybe do that – the media don’t care as much and it’s more about box-office value by then – artists building their pension funds.

  51. I like TT, and the video too. Too bad it only has 58k views on VH1 –I think fans need to watch it too, not just vote.

Yeah, that’s a shame. Not really. That doesn’t change anything – it’s still #5 on the countdown.

  52. Interesting comments about venues and tours. I don’t see much media attention about tours in general though. They only mention the megastars like Gaga or sometimes talk about artists postponing tours due to bad sales (Kelly Clarkson) a few years ago. If I didn’t follow Idols on this blog, I really wouldn’t hear too much about them touring.

I do know in Idol world, it’s VERY important to have a sell out. It implies unlimited demand for the artist, I guess. Not that a sold out tour is a bad thing no matter the size of the venues, quite the contrary.

I don’t think Adam has had the success in the UK as in the US/Canada but I could be wrong. I’m making that assumption based on the fact that his UK chart position, sales etc. aren’t posted here (unless I missed it) so smaller venues made sense.

  53. It’s rough for US artists in the UK – especially those from AI. The UK has its own stable of “reality stars” to promote – from BGT & X Factor. British radio allocates only a small percentage of airplay to US artists & those are the biggies. Like GaGa, Eminem, Katy etc. Adam is going to have to work very hard to be successful there. I’m betting he can do it. :)

He has been quite successful in many European countries. Just not the UK. Yet.

  54. VH1 Top 20 Countdown! Leap of the Week!

05 Kris Allen/Pat Monahan “The Truth” [4|5] [+7] New Peak, Enters Top 10/5; Leap Of The Week

WOW! I was so pleased and happy to see the huge leap Kris’s “The Truth” has made. I like the video a lot and it is great to see it do so well on VH1. I hoped it would move up 1 or 2 spots into the top 10, but +7 is wonderful.

The concept of a “sell-out” tour is meaningless. Any artist can sell out a tour if they choose the venues and pricing carefully. It’s a marketing phenomenon but one that sadly the media puts far too much emphasis on..

I agree — if it was that easy, all artists would sell out their venues. Say what you may, Adam is definitely doing well in his almost sold-out tour and they have been very smart! Now, if you want to compare to other artists, you could draw a comparison of tours, in the same town, in the same touring season among artist from the same AI season. In Nashville, of all places, for example, Adam sold out the Ryman on 7 July, and it sold out quickly! Not long before, Kris was in the same town and his concert could not sell out in a venue almost half the size of the Ryman. In fact, it was reported that Kris sold just over half of the venue. Again, this was in Nashville, home of the Country Music and the Grand Ole Opry. In fact, the Ryman was the original home of the GOO and, at the time of Adam’s concert, the current home!

So, yes, sold-out venues still translate to demand (and future demand) for the artist no matter how much someone tries to diminish that accomplishment.

  56. Yeah for TT #5 on VH1. Way to go voters. I hate that this song did not get the radio play it deserved. I am hoping it will make it onto AC stations. I can see it being used as a theme in some failed love movie. Maybe then it could make a comeback. I hope Kris was well paid for playing so nice with all the radio stations, because I don’t feel they did right by him. When looking at the familiarity level with this song, it is only at 84% and the burn out rate is only 18%. Sad that it will not get the chance it needs. People never got the chance to decide if they like it or not. I did notice when it is shown on the VH1 countdown, it climbs the Itunes sales, which says it could have done much better had it been played. Aggravating.

  57. It’s rough for US artists in the UK – especially those from AI.

Daughtry’s also playing in the UK this fall – just one date in October – a sold-out show at Koko (capacity 1400). The theater has a rich musical history according to wikipedia… Prince, Madonna, Elton John have all performed there in the past.

RCA has released a LLT tour edition CD in Europe — it’s sitting at around #70 on UK’s itunes chart, so there is some interest there. The band’s last tour dates for the year include two shows in South Africa, and according to an interview on the Today Show they start work on CD#3 shortly thereafter.

  58. He has been quite successful in many European countries. Just not the UK. Yet.

I have no doubt it is just a matter of time before the UK takes notice of Adam. These sold out shows, even though they are very small venues, will still create some buzz. Now if Harry or Wils decide to go to a show that would really get some press, LOL! I believe I heard they were fans of Adam’s when he did his first promo tour. They said they regretted missing him, anyone remember?

  59. Seeing TT up to #5 on VH1 just makes it more obvious what a big mistake it was to release the MV so late. It would have made such a difference in radio play and sales if the timing had been better. Thank God, they released IIHY MV early or it might have suffered the same fate.

  60. I just read Adam’s Vienna, Austria show sold out in two days. Anyone know when the Germany shows go on sale? I think these will go the fastest.

  61. Just heard TT on the radio for the first time ever. That only took 7 months. It sounded great.

  62. limi, I know someone who has tickets for a show in Germany, so there’s at least one show for sale there.

  63. I have no doubt it is just a matter of time before the UK takes notice of Adam. These sold out shows, even though they are very small venues, will still create some buzz.

I am not sure they are “very small venues.” Sure, they are not really big, but most have over 2,000 capacity. Council Bluffs, IA had 3,741 (sold out), MGM Grand at Foxwoods had 4,000 (sold out), Thunder Valley Casino, Lincoln, CA had 4,500 (sold out), Beach @ Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas had 5,200 (sold out), Pacific Amphitheatre, Costa Mesa, CA, capacity 8,042 (sold out two nights in a row!), Hard Rock Live, Hollywood, FL, capacity 5,500, concert eight days from now (already sold out). Last night’s concert in Thackerville, OK, capacity 3,000 was sold out and so is the tonight’s concert.

Again, the venues are not exactly very small. This year, some of the other Idols have not sold out venues half-the-size and, of course, we already know about tours being cancelled due to lack of interest.

  64. I hope Kris was well paid for playing so nice with all the radio stations, because I don’t feel they did right by him.

I don’t believe artists are compensated on radio appearances, but the opposite. They are trying to get spins and build a relationship with radio .

Bigaifan – poster was talking about the small UK venues, not the US

  65. Bigaifan – poster was talking about the small UK venues, not the US

My bad… Fair enough. But, since there are no reports yet of any sold out venues in UK (are there?) I thought the poster was talking about the venues so far. Be that as it may, what is the capacity at those venues in the UK?

    Thanks!

  66. But, since there are no reports yet of any sold out venues in UK (are there?) I thought the poster was talking about the venues so far. Be that as it may, what is the capacity at those venues in the UK?

All of them are sold out (in a few hours). I think their capacity are 600, 800, 1500 and 2000.

  67. All of them are sold out (in a few hours).

I thought it only took an hour. ;) j/k. I think the last Idol to do really well in the UK was Jordin. She had a pretty massive hit with No Air (with lots of thanks to Chris Brown) but I think even Tattoo did well there.

  68. The band’s last tour dates for the year include two shows in South Africa, and according to an interview on the Today Show they start work on CD#3 shortly thereafter.

    Thats COOL!

I believe they upgraded venue for Australian Tour, e.g.
10/20/10 Sydney, Australia, Enmore Theatre , Capacity: 2,200
    http://www.thehothits.com/news/20119/adam-lambert-australian-tour—venue-upgrades

And there are Paris, France and Milan, Itally scheduled in Nov. Other folks probobaly know details.

Thanks, silentadamfan! Holy Toledo!!! “Due to overwhelming demand Adam Lambert’s Melbourne and Sydney shows are moving to bigger venues, and the tour will now include a performance in New Zealand!”

Paris and Milan also? Exactly when is he going to work on his next album? :)

Adam and his group have been extremely smart during this first GNT. Of course, they have been able to showcase their amazing “produt,” Adam! All these sold out venues, here and abroad, are sparking tremendous interest all over the world. It is going to be very interesting next year when, hopefully, they will have GNT II.

  71. There is also a Finland venue added on 11/06. I think this will be the first stop of the Euro tour.

  72. i think adam need ambulance for this tour, what is he thinking?i heard adam pay for everything in this tour.he have to careful to his voice.keep voting.

  73. I thought it only took an hour. j/k. I think the last Idol to do really well in the UK was Jordin. She had a pretty massive hit with No Air (with lots of thanks to Chris Brown) but I think even Tattoo did well there.

Tattoo didn’t do well when it was first released, but it was re-released, with a new video, after No Air did so well, and it was a moderate hit. Battlefield and SOS also did very well. SOS did so well that they released a third single that was not released here in the US.

I think US artists do well in the UK, but it’s usually artists who are very popular here, and that, more so than their music, seems to be why UK fans are willing to give them a chance.

  74. Adam and his group have been extremely smart during this first GNT.

I couldn’t agree more! I think the most important factor is (from observation only) that RCA has a plan for Adam and they see the big picture where he is concerned. Starting with his promo tour, then GNT, and now the international GNT, Simon Cowell was right, Idol found an international star. Luckily he has such a strong work ethic and has been singing long enough in theater to know how to manage his voice to make this schedule successful.

  75. It is going to be very interesting next year when, hopefully, they will have GNT II.

I just hope that Adam will play in a large venues (5k), add another gutarist and a backup singer for his GNT II.

  76. Crayonas

[Adam] All of them are sold out (in a few hours).

You can poke fun at the truth if you want but it is what it is. They are selling out in minutes.

  77. I don’t believe artists are compensated on radio appearances, but the opposite. They are trying to get spins and build a relationship with radio .

Yes, as I understand it, they are compensated in radio play, not in cash, and it even cost them when they give out concert ticket, they have to pay their band, etc…
