Hometown American Idol Welcomed Back In Sullivan County

Hundreds came out Friday night in Sullivan County to welcome home their very own American Idol.

Aaron Kelly, a former contestant on the popular TV show, was treated to a parade through Laporte, lined with his loyal hometown fans.

Sitting high up in a horse-draw carriage, Aaron Kelly waved to the hundreds of fans who came out to see their hometown hero be celebrated with a parade through Laporte.

The star struck crowd ranged from the young to the young at heart.

An ‘Idol’ comes to Tarrytown

Taylor Hicks is calling from Birmingham, Ala., from his parents’ house, actually, during a rare few days off between concert dates, including his upcoming stop at the Tarrytown Music Hall on Thursday. “You probably are gonna laugh, because it is pretty funny, ” says the 2006 American Idol winner, with just a touch of twang. “But I still have all my stuff in my parents’ basement. So, I am technically, still like a college kid.”

Professional ballroom dancer Mark Ballas is very aware that he only has 10 more days to get his “Dancing With the Stars”Bristol Palin partner, , daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, ready for primetime when the show premieres on Monday, Sept. 20.

“She’s not ready, ” he tells Zap2it. “She’s not ready for the whirlwind yet. We’ve been going for two weeks now, and she’s doing really well, so I’m excited.”

With new mum Dannii looking after baby Ethan, the regular judges are joined by pintsized pop princess Pixie Lott. Speaking about her stint as a judge, Pixie says: “I’m really excited!” seemingly not put off by the 4, 000 strong X Factor audience sitting behind her.

When “Dancing With the Stars” kicks off later this month, it will star two of MTV’s most recognizable faces, “The Hills” alum Audrina Patridge and “Jersey Shore” ‘s very own the Situation. The show’s host, Brooke Burke, admits that she’s excited to see how light on their feet the reality-TV stars are.

“I think they both have a lot going for them, ” she told MTV News at the VMA Radio Forum on Friday (September 10). “I know Audrina is going to look amazing. She looks the part already. She’s gonna get out on the ballroom and look so beautiful and elegant. Can she dance? I have no idea.”

Snooping on Mama Sox

Crystal Bowersox has every right to sing the blues about nosy state employees snooping into confidential government databases for dirt on her. If the American Idol runner-up from northwest Ohio can fall victim to such an abuse of public trust, it can happen to any other Ohioan.

No citizen should be subject to prying by employees on the public payroll just because they have access to personal information and idle curiosity to satisfy.

ITV woos Simon Cowell with three-year deal

A senior source at ITV said: “The desire is to pin down three years.”

Last week Cowell told reporters he was considering quitting the UK show after the current series to focus on the US version, which is due to air next autumn and clashes with a future series of The X Factor in the UK.
