‘We the People’ Modern Schoolhouse Rock ft Adam Lambert (Video)

NETFLIX is launching a new animated series, We The People, which aims to teach civics to young folks in a lively and entertaining way.

We The People combines music and animation to educate a new generation of young Americans about basic U.S. civics. Think of it as Schoolhouse Rock, the groundbreaking civics series from the 70’s, made for the new millenium.

The show, which bows on the streaming service July 4, features 10 short-form episodes that each address a different U.S. civics lesson. Each fun video runs three minutes long and is packed with information every young American should know.

Original songs from a star studded cast include American Idol alum, Adam Lambert, H.E.R., Janelle Monáe, Brandi Carlile, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Bebe Rexha, Andra Day, and poet Amanda Gorman.

The trailer refers to the show as “a civics remix” and runs through an animated syllabus of some of the topics the clips will cover. Taxes, voting, citizenship and checks & balances are a few of the covered “lessons.” Adam Lambert sings a song titled “Know Your Rights.”

Former president and first lady Barack and Michelle Obama are executive producers.
