American Idol 15 – the FINAL season – is set to begin in January. “One last American Idol will be discovered,” the caption reads, in a brand new promo. But the images–of Idol winners being crowned amid tears and confetti–suggests we prepare ourselves for a nostalgia-filled victory lap.
The new promo is so nostalgia-filled, it features no winners or alums past season 11. Let’s revel in the past, kiddos! However, there are shots of the current judges–Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. hamming it up with host Ryan Seacrest.
“That one decision…” says season 4 winner, Carrie Underwood, in the promo, as Kelly Clarkson’s “A Moment Like This” plays, “changed my entire life.”
Watch out for American Idol winners and alums to appear during the auditions and beyond. Already, Ruben Studdard, Clay Aiken, Taylor Hicks, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze and current winner, Nick Fradiani, have helped and encouraged hopefuls in the audition cities. The producers promise even more, before the iconic singing competition comes to an end.
