American Idol OG winner and The Voice season 14 coach Kelly Clarkson just dropped a music video for her latest single “I Don’t Think About You.” The lush and powerful ballad is from the singer’s latest album release Meaning of Life.
“‘I Don’t Think About You’ is the moment you realize something has no power over you anymore,” The singer shares about the song’s meaning. “We all have people and/or situations in life that mold us and sometimes those situations can feel like they’re about to break us, but this song is about that morning you wake up and you don’t even think about it anymore.” Kelly adds, “It holds no power, no weight in your world, and consumes your thoughts no longer. It’s a song about freedom, honestly.”
Clad in elegant black, Kelly sings against a simple backdrop, while shots of her younger self are depicted dealing with difficult moments in her life. In one scene, Kelly sits at a table while record label suits presumably cut her down. However, in the end–Kelly emerges triumphant.
