Watch Carrie Underwood open for NBC’s Sunday Night Football for the 11th consecutive season singing the iconic “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night.”
The new show open features a concert performance interspersed with augmented reality highlights displayed across a halo scoreboard. The American Idol season 4 winner, who performed the open from The Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas, home of her ongoing residency, REFLECTION, also adds a surprise new element this season.
Carrie adds drumming to her Sunday Night Football opener!
In the clip, Carrie descends from the roof on a platform as football clips play behind her. She struts down a runway as an audience cheers her on. Eventually, she tosses away her microphone sits behind a drum kit and plays. Fans who have seen the country star in concert know that the drumming, along with the rock n’ roll covers, have been part of her set for awhile now.
“Once again, the incredible Sunday Night Football team came up with a fresh, exciting visual concept that really gave us a chance to play,” said Carrie in a press statement. “I loved shooting the show open again this year at our home away from home, The Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas, and can’t wait for another season of football!”
The NFL opener featured the Dallas Cowboys visiting their NFC East rival New York Giants.
Carrie’s album, Denim & Rhinestones, which she co-produced, is out now. She recently completed her 43-city U.S. arena tour, “The Denim & Rhinestones Tour.” Additionally, Carrie launched her exclusive year-round SiriusXM channel, “Carrie’s Country” on June 9 and a deluxe edition of Denim & Rhinestones, featuring six new tracks, will be out September 22. Carrie will return to her Las Vegas residency on September 22.
