The Voice UK series 4 is currently airing on the BBC 1, with judges Rita Ora, wil.i.am, Rickey Wilson and Sir Tom Jones.
The 3rd Blind Audition episode aired on Saturday (1/25/15) and featured former YouTube sensation Esmée Denters who performed her own particular spin on the hit “Yellow” by Coldplay, prompting all four coaches to hit their buttons. Esmée landed her dream spot on Team wil.i.am.
The Dutch native promoted her musical career on YouTube, where she covered songs by artists including Justin Timberlake and Natasha Bedingfield. In 2008, she was signed by Justin Timberlake as the first artist to his label Tennman Records. In May 2009, she released her debut studio album, Outta Here.
On 10 March 2013, Esmée announced that she hadn’t been signed to Tennman Records or Interscope Records for over a year and was working on a new independent album.
Two years later, she’s throwing in her lot with The Voice. Will the show finally catapult Esmée to pop stardom? Can she even win The Voice? Are you watching? There’s a lot of fuss about this one. I’m not so sure her performance warranted 4 chairs. She could have at least sung on pitch. What do you think?
