Here we go guys! The Voice begins……. NOW!

We open with a quick recap of last weeks episode. The judges banter with each other over contestants and we are shown how the team stands. Adam Levine has 4, Usher has 4, Shakira has 3 and Blake Shelton has 2.

After a quick chat with Carson Daly and the coaches, we get right down to it.

Ryan Whyte Maloney– 38 – Lights, by Journey

Rocker dude in the house. He worked as a garbage man, but eventually met his wife and he settled down and had kids. His wife sadly left him and he is still hurting because of her. Dawwww his kids sent him an adorable supportive video. Dude’s got a strong voice. He’s cool, but I feel like in the long run he will have trouble standing out. He is giving off battle/knocout round fodder vibes to me. All four judges eventually turn around for him and Adam even stands up for him. If I were him, I’d go with Adam, who I think he will pick.

Ryan to Team Blake. I’m surprised he went with Blake, but maybe they might end up working well together.

Deshawn Washington– 23 – Twistin’ The Night Away, by Sam Cooke

Dudes from a town I can’t pronounce and he makes sure to tell us how to say it correctly. He stated singing at age 4 in churches, but he wants to travel the world and share his voice. He quit college to help his adorable family, but he is hoping The Voice will help him and his family out. Desawn looks like he is having fun, but his vocals are just meh for me. Shakira ends up turning around for him, but I don’t expect him to last long as he is also giving off fodder vibes. If he wants to make the live shows he needs to massively improve in the next round.

Deshawn to Team Shakira

Sam Behymer– 25 – Royals, by Lorde

She is called the singing nanny! She loves music, but is a total geek who loves books! Her parents aren’t so supportive and want her to have financial security, and she is hoping her audition can put her in a place where she can get more exposure. She is considering becoming a librarian if it doesn’t work out for her. My favorite of the night so far, but one thing that I’m finding weird is that she is doing something with her tongue that is like giving her a British Accent, but that can be fixed with help from the vocal coaches. There are some wobbly notes, but I’d say its probably just nerves. That aside, her voice is quiet, but also has some power. Adam and Usher turn around for her and do the usual shtick where the try to sway her decision. I have no idea who she will go with, but gun to my head, I’d guess Adam.

Sam to Team Adam I live to blog another day!

Next, we get a montage of people who didn’t make it. #sadface Some of these singers were really wobbly with their vocals.

Brendan Ryan– 24 – Love on Top, by Beyonce

His parents met through music, and while he loves music, he also loves comedy! He plays the piano and cracks jokes all the while. He loves to experiment with comedy, but he is a musician at heart. His parents say if music doesn’t work out in a year, he needs to work on his nonexistent back up plan. What a odd song choice, but Ryan really switched it up! I kinda like his rendition. I remember when Amber Holcomb sang this and all I could think of was how hard the song was to do, and Ryan made it look even harder. He started struggling, and I think he just needs a little more work. No coach turns around for him.

I’m waiting for a real standout to show up. Last season around now we had Tessanne Chin and Caroline Pennell. Where are our standouts like them? I’m personally looking out for another Holly Henry like singer.

Brothers Walker– both are 26 – Keep Me In Mind, by Zac Brown Band

Identical brothers who once opened for Johnny Cash. They formed a band in High School, but now are doing completely different jobs, one of them is a teacher and another an audio engineer. They are just hoping for a chair turn. Nice blend of voices yo! (did I really just say that? I hope I’m not turning into Randy Jackson!). Their voices fit together perfectly! Why are no coaches turning for them!? At the last second Usher turns around for them!

Brothers Walker to Team Usher

Clarissa Serna– 26- Zombie, by The Cranberries

She has been working for her parents and doing basic office work, but she loves music and has been volunteering at a music program for young girls. She seems like a rock chick from her pre-performance package. Lets see what she does. Um… I love her! She reminds me of Elise Testone from Idol! Give her some hard rock whichever coach she picks! Girls got a voice! This is our standout of the night guys! At the last second Usher turns around for her making her our first 4 chair turn of the night! Clarissa, please pick Adam!

Clarissa to Team…….. we will find out after the break!

Clarissa to Team Shakira Hmmmmmm I don’t know about this pairing.

Next, we get a montage of some more contestants!

Lindsay Pagano to Team Shakira

Joshua Howard to Team Adam

Tanner James to Team Usher

Robert Lee– 29- The Weight, by The Band

He is a postman who delivers mail. He loves his job, but his passion is for music. He was married and had a daughter with his now ex. Now he has remarried and his new wife is expecting twins! He is hoping his audition could give him the exposure he needs to make music his job. He is a little wobbly on the opening notes, and this trend continues throughout the song. No coach turns for him… poor guy.

Melissa Jimenez– 29- If I Aint Got You, by Alicia Keys

She performs in her dad’s ten piece band, and she has learned everything about music from them. She managed to get a record deal at one point, but she went through some rough times, and is ready to get back to her musical journey. I love this song and her voice so much. The opening part was gorgeous, but then she hits some wobbly notes. Usher and Shakira turn at the last minute. Silly Usher, didn’t you hear her sing in Spanish? This is a no brainer. Shakira and “MJ” (MJ someone stole your name!), banter in spanish, which makes who she is gonna go with even more obvious.

Melissa to Team Usher Well then….

Patrick Thomson– 35- Can’t You See, The Marshall Tucker Band

He decided to get into music after watching his mother perform in her band. He really is hoping for a chair turn and is ready for his opportunity. He’s got a husky, but raspy voice. He fits the folky music genre, but I don’t think he is special enough to get a chair turn from me. Blake and Adam turn around anyway. He will most likely go with Blake if I had to guess.

Patrick to Team Adam I am way off my guessing game tonight…..

Next, a montage of people not making it. At least they all seem to have left with some degree of dignity.

Allison Bray– 17 – Where the Boys are, by Connie Francis

She has such a quiet talking voice, and reminds me of Lauren Alaina. She is a good ol’ country girl who is eager to go outside of the country bubble. Wow she is doing a fifties song, I’m surprised but good for her trying to stand out. She’s got a big old voice with a little too much vibrato, but sadly no one turns around for her. I’m surprised, I think she deserved to move on.

We get a quick recap of where the teams stand then we are on to the final audition of the night.

Sisaundra Lewis– 44- Aint No Way, by Aretha Franklin

She is a church girl and fruit picker who said her voice and singing saved her life. She lost her father one day, but she knows he is with him always. At one point, she worked with Celine Dion. Celine herself sent her a video is support. Girl is an old soul with a big voice. Shakira and Adam turn around right away then so does Blake and eventually Usher. She is really good! Adam makes a good point when he says this might not be her best, which means her at her best must be incredible. I’d go with Blake just cause I would love to see what that pairing conjures up.

Sisaundra to Team Blake Now this is a pairing I am looking forward to!

And with that we are out! Thank you all for joining me guys! Its been real. Be here tomorrow at the same time for Sarah’s recap! Shoutout to MJ for letting me write for her again! Have a good night guys!
