The Voice 5 Top 6 Results and VIDEO

Six contestants. 1 goes home. Who will be saved by the insta-vote? I’m live blogging right here. Plus, Kelly Clarkson performs!

Yes. I Insta-saved James. Mostly because I believe Matthew was beyond a comeback.  You could stick a fork in that boy. He was done. His coach, Christina, ran out of ideas for him. He lost his mojo, so he couldn’t save himself.

You never no what’s coming next with James, which is one of the reasons he’s so appealing.  He’s also a great stage performer. Compulsively watchable. If I’m being honest, I wouldn’t have been mad if Will left. He’s a great singer, but he has no star power and is way too inside his own head.

But I’m cool.  I pegged Tessanne a middle packer and I’m really happy to be wrong. I’m very pleased that she’s made it to the semi-finals.

And how about that Team Adam! All three of his team are still in it. He’s on fire. But, like Blake said, it only takes one to win. I would not be the least bit surprised if his contestant, Cole Vosbury, took it all. Blake has found the magic formula. Dude doesn’t even break a damn sweat up there, and he’s selling iTunes like crazy.

No more insta-save.  For the next two weeks, contestants will be eliminated the old fashioned way, through telephone, text and online votes. Not sure yet how many will be eliminated next week. Probably two–then we’ll have a 3-way final. But stay tuned for confirmation either way…

I’m still ambivalent about the insta-save. It was really exciting to be able to save a contestant in danger on the spot. But that’s easy for me to say. I live on the east coast. If I were an invested Matthew Schuler fan, living in Los Angeles, for instance, the Insta-vote would suck. I also hope that the technology around it is solid. Five minutes to vote without a recount. It feels too random, and like something could go wrong in those few minutes. But as gimmicks go, it’s a pretty good one. And The Voice producers are really good at creating them.

Recap, recap. Blah blah. Carson bragging that every song was in the Top 50, conveniently leaving out that nobody made the Top 10 this week.

Here comes Queen Kelly Clarkson to perform “Underneath The Tree.” Aw. She looks so pretty. Hope the baby in her tummy is enjoying the show. Congratulations on not hurling during the performance, Kelly! After the performance, she pimped her special airing next week. Blake plays an elf who curses her out. It airs on December 11.

Later, Carson will reveal THE BOTTOM 2 ARTISTS. And we’ll inst-vote via twitter!

Adam is hoping to keep his team together. Cee Lo thinks Tessanne did a wonderful job. Christina, in a hat and suspenders, she’s hoping for the best for her team. She’s counting on her fans! They are awesome. Blake says it only takes ONE artist to win the competition. He’s counting on his boy, Cole.

Next, Jacquie Lee, Tessanne Chin and Matthew Schuler sing “You’ve Got the Love.” The trio sound awesome.

Time for results! The Top 6 take the stage. The first artist saved by America is…Jacquie Lee.

Blake Shelton and Season 1 alum, Xenia, take the stage to sing “Sliver Bells.”  Well that was…sleepy.  No post performance interview? I guess we’ll be left to wonder what she’s up to.

It’s another edition of “Voice Confessions.” Stay tuned for the video.

More results! The next artist saved by America is…Cole Vosbury. No shockers here, people.

Cole Vosbury, Will Champlin and James Wolpert sing Extreme’s “More Than Words”. Nuno Bettencourt, from the band joins them to sing along and play guitar. I have a confession to make. I hate this song. It’s sentimental treacle. Not crazy about the band Extreme, either. There I said it.

The 4 remaining artists take the stage! The next artist moving on to the Top 5 is…Tessanne Chin!

The Top 6 take the stage to sing a Christmas medley! A mash up of “Joy to the World,” and “O Holy Night.” It’s so purty.

The three remaining artists take the stage. The next artist saved by America is…Will Champlin!

Adam BEGS America to save James. He’s got a game plan for him, and everything. Christina namechecks “Hallelujah” and reminds America that all 4 judges turned for Matthew.

I don’t want either to go home, but I think I’m going to insta-save James.

#VoiceSave insert first name. START NOW!

Matthew Schuler is eliminated
