What did you think of tonight’s battles? Why oh Why are reality show judges obsessed with young singers who aren’t ready for prime time? Is anybody expecting young Caroline Burns to actually improve under the tutelage of Adam Levine? Hopefully she won’t knock a more seasoned singer out of the competition. Not that I thought Mike Schiavo was all that. He lacked star power, but at least he had an idea of who and what he is. The poor guy had to sing a love song with a teenager and not come off as a douchebag. Also major shout out to Christina Aguilera for calling out the men (coughblakecough) on their condescending attitude toward the young singer.
Pharrell Williams gave up Brian Nhira in what totally seemed to be a calculated attempt to create an exciting save situation. I couldn’t believe the coaches weren’t gushing over Abby. But then, when Pharrell began pleading for the others to steal the loser of the battle I KNEW he’d choose Abby, despite playing it cool regarding her talents. I see what you did there show. You need to be less obvious about your narrative set ups!
I am really glad Blake Shelton stole Lacy Mandigo after she lost her battle to Alisan Porter. That was a no-win situation if there ever was one. As Adam said in the final moments of the episode, “She’s the Jordan Smith of Season 10.” Ugh The Voice, can’t we have a season with at least a little suspense? The last two winners, Sawyer Fredericks, and Jordan, were foregone conclusions from the moment they stepped on stage. And how convenient that Christina is Alisan’s coach? It’s time for a female coach to win, right? Sigh. Back to Lacy–Blake was absolutely right, “California Dreamin'” was the wrong song for her. I’m glad she’s getting a second chance. An aside: So Lacy dreamed before her Blind Audition that Christina would be the only chair to turn for her. And then a few days ago, she dreamed Blake would steal her. Will she predict whether she makes it past the knockout rounds? Heh.
