UK X Factor Auditions – Week 5 (UPDATE: Added Sunday Audtions)

UPDATE: There was another audition episode on Sunday. I’ve added those videos after the jump. Long story short: Everyone sucked, except for the last audition–Marlon McKenzie who sang an extremely soulful version of “Ain’t No Sunshine”

Nobody blew me away, this week 5 of X Factor UK auditions.  It seemed like the very last singer, Rebecca Ferguson, a beautiful girl from Liverpool was going to deliver the goods, but she was a big disappointment.

Her off-key, tentative performance got huge props from the judges, who sent her through.   She’s a bit of a hard-luck story and a crier, so she’ll elicit a lot of sympathy if she progresses.

Nicole Scherzinger who is rumored to be joining Simon Cowell as a judge for X Factor US,   joined Simon and Louis Walsh in Manchester as a guest judge.  Cheryl Cole was out with a nasty case of malaria.

Videos and Recap after the JUMP…

The other contestant the judges loved, the young Aiden Grimshaw got off to a shaky start with an a capella rendition of Kanye’s “Gold Digger” but he finished the performance pretty well.  Simon called him the best so far in his category.

The panel also really liked Yuli Minguel who was enthusiastic, but screeched through her number.  I don’t get this UK X Factor.

The judges put through the highly annoying Chloe Victoria whose Ke$ha style get-up and incomprehensible whining quickly annoyed the audience.  Despite being unprepared, Simon and Nicole sent her through. You know what’s crazy? She was actually not a bad singer.

It was hard to tell if Rachel Chu was faking her way through a bad audition. It could be she was completely clueless about her complete lack of talent.

Sixty-nine year old, Hazel Jackson, took to the stage clutching her handbag.  She pranced her way through “Simply the Best”. You could see Simon almost wanting to put her through as good TV. But thankfully, cooler heads prevailed.

Did you watch X Factor? If you didn’t, check out the videos after the jump. What did you think?
