Today’s thread is brought to you by the numbers 1, 8 and 12.
Billboard reports that the Rihanna’s “Work” featuring Drake tops the Hot 100 for the sixth week. The song also continues to top the Streaming and On-Demand charts. This also marks the 38th week in a row that non-American artists have topped the Hot 100.
This week marks a new number 2 as Bieber finally gets bumped from the spot he has owned for many a week. Danish group Lukas Graham and their song “7 years” which is a hit across the globe take the slot. Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself” settles for third as it continues to dominate the Radio airplay chart. Fourth and fifth slots go to Flo Rida’s “MyHouse” and twenty one pilots “Stressed Out”.
Zayn finally decides to vacate the 6th spot to Meghan Trainor’s “No” which topped the digital songs chart last week. G-Eazy and Bebe Rexha’s “Me, Myself & I” holds at 7th.
Zayn, former member of X-Factor’s biggest success One Direction, has his “Pillowtalk” drop to 8th. But his album is for sale and it’s going to number one so it’s all good. He’s also the talk of social media dominating the weekly Twitter charts.
DNCE’s “Cake by the Ocean” is 9th and Mike Posner’s “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” returns to the top 10 leaving Bieber with only one song in the top 10 as we wave goodbye to “Sorry”. It tied the most number of weeks in the top 10 since debut record at 21 weeks also held by his “What Do You Mean”, Maroon 5’s “Sugar” and Nicki Minaj’s “Starship”.
X-Factor USA’s Fifth Harmony’s “Work From Home” (featuring Ty Dolla $ign (I don’t make these names up myself)) returns to 12th in its fourth week. It ties their peak position on the chart for any songs.
