‘American Idol’ Top 4 on La’Porsha’s Front-Runner Status, Seeing Sia & More – Three days from now, the final top four in American Idol’s 15-year run will be reduced to a top three, and seven days after that, one member of the remaining trio will be crowned as the last winner (at least in this incarnation of the iconic TV series). Before that happens, Billboard caught up with the four finalists who are still standing to talk about front-runner status, their performances last week and how they felt about meeting Sia. – Read more at Billboard.com
Women take center stage at ACM festival – Sometimes when Carrie Underwood steps out onto the stage at a country music festival, she might be the sole female artist to perform. “You’re at a festival and they will talk about potentially having another woman on there and then they are like, ‘No, no, we already have one. We can’t have two,'” Underwood recalled. “I don’t understand that mentality.” The Women of Country Night on Friday will include Underwood, Martina McBride, Kelsea Ballerini, Maddie and Tae, Kellie Pickler and Cam on the main stage and more new female artists on a side stage. Across the three-night festival there will be 13 female artists or groups performing out of the total 32 acts. – Read more at CBS
More than half of all ‘Idol’ singers over 15 seasons from the South including this year’s top 4 – Time and time again over the years, the South has risen to the occasion on the show, with a disproportionate number of finalists. There has been at least one Southerner in the final four every year. And this year is the first time the South has a clean sweep of the top four. Of the 178 “American Idol” finalists over 15 seasons, a whopping 52% are from the South although this region only represents 36 percent of the U.S. population. Of those 60 who finished in the top four, the percentage is even higher: 63 percent. And of the winners, it’s 10 out of 14 – or 71 percent. And since the top 4 this year is all from the South, the final count will certainly be 11 out of 15 or 73 percent. – Read more at AJC.com
Ralphie Report: Haley Reinhart dishes on her new album, the last season of “American Idol” and gum – “Wrigley and Extra Gum kind of sought me out and had me record the song kind of overnight and it worked out,” Reinhart explained of her new single, a cover of the Elvis Presley classic “Can’t Help Falling In Love.” “It worked out, they put out the commercial, it blew up and now it’s being played on the radio.” Sometimes the best plan is no plan, and that’s exactly what was in place for her song to receive radio airplay. Stations picked it up organically before Reinhart’s team began seeking out spins. For the most part, Reinhart seems to be enjoying the ride. “I’d rather things take their own course and their own time to completely fall in to the right place,” she said. “I don’t like anything to be forced. So thankfully in this instance and in a lot of other cases, it’s overnight and you don’t expect it, and those are the greatest gifts.” – Read more at The Weekender
Kris Allen Talks Fatherhood, ‘Letting You In’ Album & ‘American Idol’s End – American Idol is ending soon, and you’re returning for the finale (April 7). Do you know what you are performing? I do. I just got the call yesterday. I was always going to go. I knew I was doing something, but I just didn’t know what until then. I don’t know if I can release that information. I do know it is going to be great. Could it be Heartless or another one of your standout moments? It won’t be that. It’ll be a group performance with some of the former Idols. It’s going to be really cool. – Read more at Popdust

Dancing with the Stars’ Nyle DiMarco: My Deaf Twin Brother Always Tried to Teach Me to Dance – Nyle DiMarco may not have had any dance experience before becoming a contestant on Dancing with the Stars, but it turns out that dancing does run in his family. “My twin brother is deaf like me, but he has a DJ business and loves hip-hop,” the America’s Next Top Model winner tells PEOPLE. “So he dances quite a bit. He tried to teach me to dance when I was growing up, but I never took him up on it. I always said, ‘No. I’m going to go play sports’ or something.” – Read more at People.com
An Open Letter to Trump Voters from His Top Strategist-Turned-Defector – Almost a year ago, recruited for my public relations and public policy expertise, I sat in Trump Tower being told that the goal was to get The Donald to poll in double digits and come in second in delegate count. That was it. The Trump camp would have been satisfied to see him polling at 12% and taking second place to a candidate who might hold 50%. His candidacy was a protest candidacy. It pains me to say, but he is the presidential equivalent of Sanjaya on American Idol. President Trump would be President Sanjaya in terms of legitimacy and authority. And I am now taking full responsibility for helping create this monster — and reaching out directly to those voters who, like me, wanted Trump to be the real deal. – Read more at XOJane.com
