American Idol 9 Top 9 – Lennon/McCartney Week – What Should The Idols Sing?

I’ve got to warn you guys: I’ve been a HUGE Beatles fan for nearly my entire life. My Dad bought me my first Beatles record when I was only 5 years old, and I’ve loved them ever since. The entire trajectory of my musical taste can be traced right back to the Fab 4.

So, excuse me if I sob if these performances turn out to be trainwrecks. Oh, and Idols, if you forget the words? I’ll know it.

Unfortunately for the Season 9 peeps, the last Lennon/McCartney week was only two years ago. With memorable performances from David Cook (Eleanor Rigby), Brooke White (Let it Be), Chikezie (She’s a Woman) and more, the comparisons are going to be inevitable.

So, what do you think the Idols should sing? Remember, this is Lennon/McCartney ONLY. Two of the Beatle’s most beloved songs, “Something” and “Here Comes the Sun” were written by the late great George Harrison

A list of Beatles’ songs from Wiki HERE. Looking at the list–If the songwriting credit references Lennon, McCartney or both, the song is eligible. (John and Paul agreed to share writing credit on all songs they wrote for the Beatles, whether separately or together).

What do you think the Idols should sing? My list is after the jump.

Crystal Bowersox – “Don’t Let Me Down”
Lee Dewyze – “We Can Work it Out”
Casey James – “She’s a Woman”
Siobhan Magnus – “Penny Lane”
Michael Lynche – “Lady Madonna”
Aaron Kelly – “Here, There and Everywhere”
Katie Stevens – “In My Life”
Tim Urban – “Why Don’t We Do it In The Road” – the perfectly clueless companion to the Stone’s “Under My Thumb” (just kidding, sort of)
Andrew Garcia – “You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away” (Go acoustic Andrew!)
