  1. congratulations adam!!! i guess we are not alone in knowing how amazing he is!

  2. Congratulations Adam!!!!! Wonderful, wonderful news for a very deserving artist!

  3. Congrats Adam and fans!! Wonder when we are gonna be able to buy the video? I love it! I think Adam portrays his emotions awesomely in this vid…….I also think he will be a wonderful actor as well as singer in the future.

Thanks for the good news MJ!

  4. He IS #9? He’s topping the might “I’ve Gotta Feeling?” Whoohooo! Let’s see if he can do it, do it, do it again and Top Gaga.

  5. Congrats Adam!!!!! Keep it smolderin’ baby!

Out of curiosity, did LLYD crack the top 10 when it came out? Does anyone know how it’s doing on the charts right now?

  6. Has anyone checked out the comments section on Perez? Half the people on there are totally clueless that it is for the 2012 soundtrack, despite oh, I don’t know, a MILLION scenes from the movie on there.

Apparently this song is on his album now so it’s not just for the 2012 soundtrack.

I’m starting to think this song IS his single.

  7. itunes Canada – #4 on pop – #6 overall

Now that it looks as though this is on FYE – I doubt we will see anything else before the album is released.

  8. He’s #9 now! Sqqquuuuuueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Wow! It must have been the video premiere. This is great! I was concerned about whether or not Adam could top the Black Eyed Peas. I Gotta Feeling has been there for awhile.

If Time for Miracles can hit peak at at least 5 I will be overly thrilled!!

  9. honowoowoo- Mine still says 10- are you sure?

I just thought of something. I know people like to compare with other seasons, but how can you tell by chart position how Adam is doing compared to anyone last year without knowing the numbers? Is it possible that, say, Archie was number one last year and sold 100,000 units and Adam is #9 this year and sold the same? What if Archi has weaker competition? The reason I say this is because someone posted last weeks sales for Lady Gaga and BEP and they both sold around 100,000 units despite being # 8 and #9.

I know people hate this, but I love to talk about this part of AI.

  10. I’m overly thrilled now! :-)

Congrats to Adam, he deserves it. Karma~

ETA: I agree that comparisons are an exercise in the inexact, at best. But, AI breeds it, and so it is. :-)

  11. I’m starting to think this song IS his single.

Adam said a week ago this is not his first song- that he would be debuting his new song on the AMA’s, although we would hear it earlier. I think he is going to have two songs out at once, but it is possible he changed his mind.

    MY ITunes still says #10

  12. The funny thing is that the song does kind of grow on you.

I even found myself with the chorus in my head today.

    Weird.

Mind you, I found the premise of the video a bit mad – and this is not Lambert’s fault in any way whatsoever: it’s just the way these disaster movie song/videos play.

The whole world is literally falling apart. Everyone’s panicking and there’s this one guy walking the other way and singing about love.

    Ooooookay.

But I am beginning to enjoy Lambert a bit more. I liked the bit when he really went for it at the end: it was actually convincing!

Now, if he can just stop with the facial over emoting/acting… lol

  13. Now that it looks as though this is on FYE ‘“ I doubt we will see anything else before the album is released.

Why don’t we ask our expert………any ideas MJ?

  14. The whole world is literally falling apart. Everyone’s panicking and there’s this one guy walking the other way and singing about love.

    lol

  15. Great news! keep rising, come on you can do it.

I am so glad he reached the top 10.

    Natasha,

I’m starting to think this song IS his single.

I really don’t think so it’s just icing on the cake – he has mentioned so many times that his official single will be completly different, a dance tune and epecially when talking up the permiere on the AMAs he wants dancers and costumes, does not sound like TFM.

If you meant in regards to the success and all the talk about his first single for sale? Maybe. But definately another song will be released as the Albums first single.
TFM is more Bonus track if indeed added to the album.

  16. Yep … just went back it’s still at #9 … I go to iTunes store, music, pop and then on the far right Top Charts, Songs and it looks like this:
1 Meet Me Halfway – Black Eyed Peas
2 Part in the U.S.A. – Miley Cyrus
    3. 3 – Brittney Spears
4 Whatcha Say – Jason Derulo
    5 Replay – lyaz
6 Down (fea. Lil Wayne) – Jay Sean
    7 Paparazzi – Lady Gaga
8 I Gotta Feeling – Black Eyed Peas
9 Time for Miracles – Adam Lambert
    10 Sweet Dreams – Beyonce

    Am I doing this right?

  17. He is still at #10 – updated one minute ago. I believe #9 is the pop charts position.

ETA: honowoowoo – not doing it wrong – just a different chart. The main one (all songs) has him at #10. The Pop chart (sub-chart) has him at #9. Both great news!

  18. Did Archie’s Crush go #2 on its first day of release or the next day too like TFM?

  19. Sucks that they classified it as Pop, probably by far the hardest chart to move up. If he was classified as rock, wouldn’t he easily be #1 now?

  20. Did Archie’s Crush go #2 on its first day of release or the next day too like TFM?

It went to #1 on it’s first day. It was #1 for the week on digital downloads and #2 for the Hot 100 (not enough airplay).

Does anyone have the link where you can check the real-time numbers? I lost it! *embarrassed*

    Here it is:

    http://ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wpa/MRSS/topsongs/sf=8986391/limit=0000/rss.xml

You have to change the number after sf every time you want to refresh it (as in, jump up to 8987391) because it is a time stamp. You’ll notice how recent the last update was based on the subsequent time stamp on the refreshed page.

I’ve been too embarrased to ask, but how does this number translate to time? I tried looking at it from a military time … I know, slow … but I really want to understand this. Help?

  22. You can see the popularity lines on itunes if you go to ‘View’ , scroll down to ‘options’ there will be a list with boxes, click on the ‘popularity’ box. It’s pretty cool.

  23. Am I doing this right?

No, honowoowoo. You are on the pop chart. The main chart is the one you want ( you don’t click on one of the subgenres)

Thanks DLee- I never knew how to do the popularity bars. He looks pretty close to BEP and Gaga, doesn’t he?

  24. If you meant in regards to the success and all the talk about his first single for sale? Maybe. But definately another song will be released as the Albums first single.
TFM is more Bonus track if indeed added to the album.

I think we’re starting to get a taste of some of the confusion we worried about way back when we first heard that both TFM and another single would be coming out in the fall – how would the timing work out, the marketing? Would one get in the way of the other? Would the success of TFM throw off the marketing push for both the main single and the album?

It’s sort of just comes with the territory. Adam got a huge break by being asked to do the song for 2012 in the first place, so no way he’d want to turn that down. But with it comes the somewhat more muddled landscape, especially to the potential audience outside the AI bubble who might not understand TFM vs another single, vs the album, etc.

  25. LLYD – what is that? Yay for Adam, I woke up with his song in my head this morning – so happy for him

I dont think it is muddled, if it is good, peeps like it, they will buy and not wonder about whether it is his first single or not

  26. Mine still says 10, but #9 and #8 each only have one bar more than TfM.

  27. Adam is so collaborative and has had nothing but good things to say about his label so far, but if they don’t put out a single other than TFM prior to the release of his album I am pretty sure that he will NOT be pleased. I sincerely hope this doesn’t happen to him because he so wants to put out his own music, and this just aint it.

Could he possibly have to sing TFM at the AMAs? That would be a big let down. I hope they don’t go in that direction.

  28. I’m now starting to thing that I live in the most backward country in the world .. it’s still not available on UK itunes …. we’re all just sitting here waiting to click on “buy” … arggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh

I’m wondering too if we’ll get another single for a while (apart from TFM) … although I thought that the AMA’s performance was supposed to be him singing his “new” single and I can’t see TFM being performed there with dancers dressed in glitter and boas .. perhaps another single will be released then.

  29. Now that it looks as though this is on FYE ‘“ I doubt we will see anything else before the album is released.

Does this mean he’s going to sing this at the AMA’s? Gross. I don’t think the AMA’s are going to get what they bargained for there. They probably thought it was going to be a dance track and they’re getting some power ballad instead. I guess it will be more promotion for 2012.

  30. It went to #1 on it’s first day. It was #1 for the week on digital downloads and #2 for the Hot 100 (not enough airplay).

Thanks! I forgot that it went #1 on iTunes. I swapped it with the Hot 100 LOL.

  31. Now, if he can just stop with the facial over emoting/acting’ ¦ lol

fadetowhite: Sorry but ITD. If he stopped, it just wouldn’t be Adam. I think this is part of his overall charm, his raw over-emotion. I LUV it. No one else could pull this off IMHO.

The funny thing is that the song does kind of grow on you.

Now I agree with you. The first time I heard it I thought it was just o.k. and I loved it because it’s Adam’s voice. Then I listened again and again. Now I am totally agreeing with Brian May. This song is awesome, like Adam. I am so sick of bubble gum and this song is fiercely exciting.

ETA: I find his over-emoting, singing, acting to be very sexy. Would expect no less from him. My friend didn’t even like him until now and she said this song/vid gives her goosebumps, one more new fan added. Go Adam!

  32. MJ thanks for the Pic of the top 10 in your thread nice to see it and not just hear about it. This song grows on me more and more and just when i think I could not possibly like it any more….I do. The Itunes version I downloaded is such a better quality and you can understand the words compared to the Youtube versions. I love the Video and it make me love the song even more. I also find myself humming or singing this song throughout the day. My favorite line is “I just want to be with you”….(heavy sigh)….and though I find Adam good looking I don’t find him OMG take me now good looking….It’s just the way he sings that line that makes me believe him… :-)

  33. I’ve been too embarrased to ask, but how does this number translate to time? I tried looking at it from a military time ‘ ¦ I know, slow ‘ ¦ but I really want to understand this. Help?

LOL! Don’t worry! I had the same problem yesterday!

Mainly, the number after SF currently looks about like this:

    8987391

In itunes lingo it probably translates to seconds, or some other measure of time. To us, it means nothing, but basically what I usually do is just increase one of the numbers and refresh the page. If you’re doing it every 10 min, you don’t need to do more than just, say change a number in the middle (to say 8988391). Then, after refreshing, you should see a new date after each song on the list, which will show the last time it was updated. It should ideally have a time that is very very close (as in a minute or two), from the current time. That means you have about as close to real time as you can get)

I just guessed this along the way, so I may be wrong. But this is how I did it :-)

    Am I doing this right?

No, honowoowoo. You are on the pop chart. The main chart is the one you want ( you don’t click on one of the subgenres)

Thanks Studio57 … love, iTunes virgin!

  35. OK, I really do get that people are buying Adam’s single (or whatchamacalit) because they like him, like the tune, etc. That’s No. 1.

But he’s also had excellent p.r. support, which really exploited the novelty of a flamboyant new rocker who is bringing glam back, and who is one of the most uncoyly out gays the industry has ever seen.

Obviously, Adam is a very sophisticated showman — all those years of keeping at it in cabarets, musicals, etc. made him perfectly ready to take full advantage of this huge Idol break. That doesn’t in any way disparage his great talent.

But now I’m going back to worrying a lot about Kris. I’ve tried to say, hey, he has droves of loyal fans eager for his first album, and contrasting his musical path’s and Adam’s is absurd, given who entirely different they are as artists.

But criminy, the lead up to this release was SO MUCH better than dropping Kris’s single down a rabbit hole. I still DO NOT GET IT. Why was that done so awkwardly? Why isn’t Kris getting his face on big info-tainment TV shows more? Is there ANY strategic plan for the album, other than just putting it out there to sink or swim?

On its own merits, LLWD is a great cut and it’s been critically praised for the most part. But this is really an object lesson in how much an emerging artist needs a record company behind him or her, with full court press. Melinda Doolittle cut a very nifty first album, and it died on the vine. And I’m fearing that Kris may face the same fate if his masters don’t get with it NOW…..

  36. I just thought of something. I know people like to compare with other seasons, but how can you tell by chart position how Adam is doing compared to anyone last year without knowing the numbers? I know people hate this, but I love to talk about this part of AI.

Absolutely, Studio57! Ranking depends on all the numbers of the people around you.

  37. The funny thing is that the song does kind of grow on you.

Now I agree with you. The first time I heard it I thought it was just o.k. and I loved it because it’s Adam’s voice.

Yes! Song totally grows on you! Each time I enjoy it more :-)

  38. Studio57, yes, it’s possible to be #9 one week and outsell the #1 in a weaker week, though unlikely with that much difference in rank. It depends on rank for the whole week, the competition, the economic climate, etc. So no one can say until we get the sales numbers in a week.

I do think the actual sales are more meaningful than the iTunes rank, BTW. ITunes has more relevance for singles than it does for albums, BTW. Typically sales on iTunes for a song make up a huge percentage of its sales compared to Amazon, for instance. The iTunes rank for albums can be dicier as an indicator. Early in an album’s life, I’ve observed it is a larger % of overall sales than at any other time, but generally the big box stores are still the prime movers of albums, though Amazon pre-orders are a great indicator.

I don’t expect this to happen. Very recently Adam has talked about preparing to pick the first single – heck he just finished recording a Lady Gaga song, so until all of the songs are in place, in the next few days, I can see him needing more time to pick the first one.

However, as I mentioned above, I do believe that if TFM really takes off over the next few weeks, it will muddle the release of the first single.

Then again, if in a “worst” (not really bad imo) case scenario, TFM continues to do well and even better, and the first single can’t be released, but he can premier said single at a much later date, say, at the AMA performance, I think that would definitely be a-ok, not to mention a very good position to be in!

  40. Sorry if this is OT but I just figured out why FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT was chosen as the album title. How much do you want to bet it is also a song on the album and it’s the sexiest, dirtiest song on the album and once we hear it, FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT will take on a whole new meaning?

  41. “But criminy, the lead up to this release was SO MUCH better than dropping Kris’s single down a rabbit hole. I still DO NOT GET IT. Why was that done so awkwardly? -I don’t know how to comment on this but maybe 19R have tried selling him to the media but only a few took the bite. But I know Kris is also getting gigs left and right and sooner or later his single will eventually pick up. I would like to think that those buying the TFM single right now are still fans of the AI bubble. However, I do agree that the video premiering with MJ’s This is IT is a huge plus for Adam to crack into the mainstream.

  42. But now I’m going back to worrying a lot about Kris. I’ve tried to say, hey, he has droves of loyal fans eager for his first album, and contrasting his musical path’s and Adam’s is absurd, given who entirely different they are as artists.

collete – I agree with a lot of your points, and I honestly think Jive did screw up Kris’s release in some very unfair ways (friday release, little fanfare except two radio appearances, no itunes banner, late with the single cover, etc).

I keep holding out hope that once more prominent PR for Kris kicks in (and it will get more intense as we get into November – he already has a ton of performances and interviews lined up) that the word will get out more and that will cause LLWD to pick up more spins and steam. We may have to wait till the album drops (or, indeed, the weeks after) to get a better sense of the full picture.

  43. Sorry if this is OT but I just figured out why the FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT was chosen as the album title. How much do you want to bet it is also a song on the album and it’s the sexiest, dirtiest song on the album and once we hear it, FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT will take on a whole new meaning?

Figured it was a song on the album too. The title usually is. It will also make a great name for his tour!

Lol! Hmm – I like the sound of that :-)

And fwiw – I immediately LOVED the title of Adam’s album! I understood the gripes about it online, but idk, I think it’s a great title, and absolutely PERFECT for the ultimate showman that he is :-)

  45. And fwiw ‘“ I immediately LOVED the title of Adam’s album! I understood the gripes about it online, but idk, I think it’s a great title, and absolutely PERFECT for the ultimate showman that he is

I wasn’t thrilled at first but I’m starting to really like it now.

I like the homage to Roxy Music’ “For You Pleasure” theory better. But I am certain that there will be a good story about the title!

  47. But criminy, the lead up to this release was SO MUCH better than dropping Kris’s single down a rabbit hole. I still DO NOT GET IT. Why was that done so awkwardly?

two different bags of money supporting each release.
    LLWD is soley 19E/Jive.
TFM is solely 2009 Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc/Sony Music
It will also be a hard comparison when Adams ‘Dance/Electronic’ single comes out – even though that will be 19E/RCA because contract obligated hype/appearances and independent requests for appearances by parties outside 19E asking for either one is not part of the package.
If Adam has more ‘press’ it likely has nothing to do with their management.

not sure if I want to know what he thinks ;-p

  51. Q3- I can see people buying Want, but NoBo? As much as I love Adam’s voice, nothing would ever, ever make me buy that drek. I can’t believe the other guy’s fans bought it.

  52. not sure if I want to know what he thinks ;-p

True, but then he is tweeting that people watch the video, so maybe he likes it.

  53. I was also expecting more from the next world’s biggest star

Rome wasn’t built in a day, world domination takes time.

  54. He’s got to get past Black Eyed Peas and Lady Gaga next….it might take a while.

  55. Congratulations to Adam, well deserved, couldn’t have happened to a nicer man. He recently answered a question in an interview as to what he would be doing now if he hadn’t gotten on AI and his answer was – I’d still be in the chorus of Wicked. Well, he has come a long way in a year!!!!

  56. I just thought of something. I know people like to compare with other seasons, but how can you tell by chart position how Adam is doing compared to anyone last year without knowing the numbers? hi studio57 – i found these stats for ‘Crush,’ in some old notes saved from mj’s last year… you can use them for comparison, or a point of reference for tfm…

Chart guru, Fred Bronson, of Billboard devotes this week’s Chart Beat column to David Archuleta’s remarkable Hot Shot Debut at #2 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100. I posted some general stats yesterday. Here are his list of official Billboard stats:

Here are his list of official Billboard stats :

    1. The highest new entry on the Hot 100 of 2008.
    2. The highest debut ever on the Hot 100 for an American Idol song not performed on the series.
    3. The highest-debuting single on the Hot 100 since the No. 2 bow of Fall Out Boy’s ‘This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race’ the week of Feb. 3, 2007.
    4. Archie is only the ‘second runner-up to outperform the ‘Idol’ winner from the same season. The first was Clay Aiken, who went to No. 1 in 2003 with ‘This Is the Night’ while second season champ Ruben Studdard peaked at No. 2 with ‘Flying Without Wings.” Cook’s coronation single, ‘Time of My Life’ peaked at #3 on the Hot 100.
    5. ‘Crush,’ which debuts at No. 1 on Hot Digital Songs, is the fourth entry for Archie on the Hot 100. His first three all debuted the week of June 7 and spent one week each on the chart: his version of John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ at No. 36, Elton John’s ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me’ at No. 58 and ‘In This Moment’ at No. 60.
    6. ‘Crush’ is the seventh single to debut inside the top 10 of the Hot 100 in 2008, including Taylor Swift’s ‘Change,’ which enters this week at No. 10. Bronson posts a summary: No. 2: ‘Crush,’ David Archuleta (Aug. 30) No. 3: ‘The Time of My Life,’ David Cook (June 7) No. 5: ‘Burnin’ Up,’ Jonas Brothers (July 12) No. 8: ‘Tonight,’ Jonas Brothers (Aug. 16) No. 9: ‘New Soul,’ Yael Naim (Feb. 16)No. 9: ‘Forever,’ Chris Brown (May 10) No. 10: ‘Change,’ Taylor Swift (Aug. 30)

Finally, Bronson lists a summary of songs recorded by American Idol finalists, but not performed during the course of competition that have debuted in the top 10:

No. 2: ‘Crush,’ David Archuleta (Aug. 30, 2008)
No. 4: ‘Solitaire,’ Clay Aiken (April 3, 2004)
No. 6: ‘I’ll Stand By You,’ Carrie Underwood (May 12, 2007)
No. 8: ‘Never Again,’ Kelly Clarkson (May 12, 2007)

  57. karenw re: gifting

ARGH. I just read the fine print and even though it would be a paid purchase, I can’t gift out of country :(

SORRY, I would have done it if I could :(

  58. Could he possibly have to sing TFM at the AMAs? That would be a big let down. I hope they don’t go in that direction.

Yeah, sure. Can you imagine backup dancers for this song?

  59. Gahhh why can’t the team responsible for the MySpace vid fix the aspect ratio of the clip?? The video looks so much better when it’s not looking squashed horizontally.

I posted this in the previous thread but got lost in the influx of new posts. Here’s the fixed aspect ratio version I made (iphone/ipod touch compatible):
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BNVWK6A5

ETA: Oh yes, congrats BB for hitting #10!!!

  60. I like the homage to Roxy Music’ ‘For You Pleasure’ theory better. But I am certain that there will be a good story about the title!

Adam’s quote in one of yesterdays interviews:
“It’s all fantasy ‘” that’s what entertainment is. I’m here to entertain you, and if my sexuality is apparent and you respond to it, and you’re attracted to it, then great, I’m doing my job.”

The album title “For Your Entertainment” is Corporate PC Adam code for “Let me bring you to tears with my voice, make you laugh until you cry, dance you into exhaustion, and titillate you to within an inch of your life until your panties go poof! and you collapse into one big pile of steaming drool. You will go happy, deeply and thoroughly satisfied, and with a smile on your face, I promise you that!”

Obviously that was much too long for an actual album title so they just went with the shorthand version- “For Your Entertainment”.

  61. ” how can you tell by chart position how Adam is doing compared to anyone last year without knowing the numbers? Is it possible that, say, Archie was number one last year and sold 100,000 units and Adam is #9 this year and sold the same? ”

Archie sold 166K downloads his first week. The #1 song last week on iTunes sold around 185K. (I think it was Britney’s new single). The #10 song last week sold 80K.

This week is actually not a particularly competitive one because TFM is one of the few singles to debut. The #1 album (Michael Buble) isn’t going to be much competition in the singles market. The other songs in the top 10 have been there for awhile. I think TFM could make it to #7 on the chart but it’s really hard to predict total sales until Sunday.

Something tells me it’s very hard to compare.

We do know that, overall, this year’s sales are lower than last year’s, on average, and last year’s lower than the year before, yadda yadda yadda. But it also varies a *lot* from week to week, looks like to me. So — awfully hard to predict, I think.

  63. ggdoorsfan….Great and when Adam’s first single is actually released then I will be interested.

  64. ggdoorsfan: Thanks. Archies stats are very impressive but what I wanted to know was how the numbers were for everyone else in his top 10. Actually, it’s not even that. I just wanted to know if it was possible that Adam can chart in the 100,000 unit range if he continues up the chart just a few more spots.

jpfan- I don’t think you got what I was trying to say, but that’s okay- I am just going to wait for the numbers

  65. My favorite line is ‘I just want to be with you’ ’ ¦.(heavy sigh)’ ¦.and though I find Adam good looking I don’t find him OMG take me now good looking’ ¦.It’s just the way he sings that line that makes me believe him’ ¦

    yes, please take me NOW!!

  66. flashus – they were meant for studio57, who has sought data and numbers, chart positions for ”crush” for reference/comparison… they can use them however they please…

  67. They should release his National Anthem from Top 3 week – listening to it now flove it!

  68. The album title ‘For Your Entertainment’ is Corporate PC Adam code for ‘Let me bring you to tears with my voice, make you laugh until you cry, dance you into exhaustion, and titillate you to within an inch of your life until your panties go poof! and you collapse into one big pile of steaming drool. You will go happy, deeply and thoroughly satisfied, and with a smile on your face, I promise you that!’

Obviously that was much too long for an actual album title so they just went with the shorthand version- ‘For Your Entertainment’ .

Buderschnookie- excellent deduction! LOL! I love you! HaHa!

  69. ggdoorsfan…Oh, I know. I really will be interested to see all the stats from prior seasons that everyone else can pull up because I am too dumb to be able to. Sorry, I didn’t mean that as offensive.

  70. “We do know that, overall, this year’s sales are lower than last year’s, on average, and last year’s lower than the year before,”

That’s true for album sales but not single downloads. Album sales are in the toilet but single downloads are not. Mega hit singles now sell 2, 3 even 4 million downloads.

  71. The #10 song last week sold 80K. Next Wednesday, the number for Adam will come out.

That’s what i wanted to know, lol!

flashus- why none of us AI nuts haven’t started a stats blog is beyond me- someone get on it!

Where can I find the numbers for the past few weeks #10 position so i can do an average?

  72. hi studio57… finding that data might require the services of a more seasoned numbers guru, like kirsten… hmmmm…. have you ever gone out to the pulse music board – they have oodles of billboard and chart data there… that may be the ticket for what you’re ultimately seeking… this thread may be a good start… sounds like you’re on your way to becoming a serious numbers nerd – we need more…

    http://pulsemusic.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=gmn

Really, they don’t go to the big tv shows and such with their singles. They go with their albums. I suspect that has as much — at least — to do with what the tv shows will actually book as it does with what the label would like. Kris will get some big exposure, but the media outlets want them when they have a whole album to sell, not when they just have one song, I think.

My beloved Melinda, like my beloved Elliott!, is on an itsy bitsy independent label, and simply *cannot* get either the radio play or the big-time tv and other bookings, interviews, exposure, etc. that the major label people get.

So don’t fear that Kris will suffer her fate. He *will* get some major exposure — but it’ll come with the album drop, not the single. And that major exposure *will* help his sales — plus, he’s getting growing radio play, which is always a good thing!

  74. Crush also came out during the tour, while Archie’s popularity was still high and Idol fans were still following blogs, etc. daily for tour updates. Adam’s release of TmF is a solid 2 months later. Every factor is… well, a factor. Also, when people were talking about Cook going to #3, I thought they meant with Light On, not TOML. I put coronation songs in an entirely different category.

  75. hi flashus – no prob… we’ve been through all this stuff, and i don’t mind sharing whatever i may have that can help sort out all this stuff… and it’s a lotta stuff if you start drilling down into it

  76. ooooh- thanks ggdoorsfan- that sounds like something I would really have fun with!

  77. One point that may/may not have been made before…

Unemployment/consumer spending come into it. Last year, real unemployment was still under 10%. Now, “real” unemployment figures stand closer to 20%. By real, I mean stats that include people who have had to take part-time work when they really want full-time work. Also people who have stopped even trying to get a job. People whose unemployment benefits have run out, and so forth. If you don’t believe me, go check it out on the Wall Street Journal site.

My point is, 1 in 5 Americans is unemployed right now. That HAS to affect sales. Not just Adam’s sales, mind you… but all sales.

    Just a thought.

  78. You will go happy, deeply and thoroughly satisfied, and with a smile on your face, I promise you that!’

um Buderschnookie … BRB … I need to change …

  79. ooooh- thanks ggdoorsfan- that sounds like something I would really have fun with!

runners up representin’ on the charts is a good thing :)

  80. Crush did come out during the tour. But it also came out pre-Twitter.
And aside from a Z100 appearance, Archie had no other promo because of the tour. TFM is getting lots of nice promo. I heard the video is even being previewed before the biggest grossing film ever. That should sell a few downloads.

I think LO went to #4 the week it was released. Coronation singes do follow their own rules. TOML sold something like 250,000 downloads in one week. Or maybe even more. I can’t remember.

  81. I was also expecting more from the next world’s biggest star

Interesting, somehow I don’t think Adam’s fans have those expectations, thankfully, both for Adam’s sake and for our own peace of mind. LOL

I know I sure don’t expect him to be some international superstar or some iconic presence. I think it’s going to be hit or miss with Adam, he has a real chance of striking out, much more so I feel than some others. And even if he does become successful, than I put it in the reasonable expectations of today’s music market and economy, both of which suck. So yeah, some fans may be prone to hyperbole once and a while, but I think if you asked most Adam fans, they’d agree with that. Outliers exist, but they’re outliers for a reason.

  82. Aw, another Adam thread? I was still on the last one (@600 and counting!!!).

ANYHOO…I am sure that FYE is on the album (I remember his saying that he would be choosing one of the song titles as the name of the album). OTOH, he said TfM would NOT be on the album, so maybe he’s changed his mind? (Of course, the latter might be RCA’s decision.)

I dunno about the title. I hope it won’t be taken in the wrong light (e.g., USE ME, I am only here for YOU), b/c the last person who would think that would be Adam. OTOH, he IS a performer–he has always said that–so this is saying, Well, I hope you enjoy this, it’s not THAT deep (unless, of course, you enjoy deep things, and then there is probably at least one or two introspective things for you on here as well, and he alluded to one during his EW interview, the one with the very cute Dickens scarf). But I am sure it will grow on me favorably, the way TfM and particularly the video has.

Whatever, I am SO happy for Adam. His dreams are coming true! And for me, it’s all about Adam and his extraordinary talent and success, current and future, and our fortune in getting to be witness to and part of it.

Man, am I getting philosophical today…

  83. It looks like all the naysayers have found Adam’s myspace video. The approval rating keeps dropping and dropping…I am sure that the biggest majority of the people watching it don’t care 2 cents about Adam…its just fun to trash him, he’s such an easy target!

Archie sold 166K downloads his first week. The #1 song last week on iTunes sold around 185K. (I think it was Britney’s new single). The #10 song last week sold 80K.

Was D.A.’s music available internationally? Adam’s sales in US have been diluted because TFM was available in so many countries before the US and peeps might have already downloaded the file from their own local itunes (we can safely exclude most of Asia since we don’t have itunes music store and would either have to wait for physical cd, creative itunes purchasing using gift cards or through gifting).

  85. One word posts are NOT adding anything to the discussion. If you are going to post, please have something to say.

  86. ‘We do know that, overall, this year’s sales are lower than last year’s, on average, and last year’s lower than the year before,’

That’s true for album sales but not single downloads. Album sales are in the toilet but single downloads are not. Mega hit singles now sell 2, 3 even 4 million downloads.

Yeah, I guess that’s true, isn’t it? On the other hand, I know that I’ve read recently that, overall, singles sales aren’t advancing at *nearly* the pace one would expect, considering how hugely album and hard-copy sales are tanking. That even singles sales and ringtones, which you would expect to be vastly increasing in sales, actually aren’t. … bottom line — that *all* music sales are in a slump, though for singles it just means they aren’t increasing much, while with albums it means they’re actually way dropping ….

  87. It looks like all the naysayers have found Adam’s myspace video. The approval rating keeps dropping and dropping’ ¦I am sure that the biggest majority of the people watching it don’t care 2 cents about Adam’ ¦its just fun to trash him, he’s such an easy target!

about 4 hours ago from TweetDeck

Brian Mansfield tweeted this. Has he weighed in officially on TFM? Just curious.

I do not believe that he has, and the only reason I would expect him to is that he runs an Idol blog and typically reviews releases, with the understanding that there will then be debate. He doesn’t have to, of course, and it doesn’t mean he has or hasn’t decided–he originally said that he couldn’t comment based on a 44 second snippet (he was talking about the song, not the video, of course, which wasn’t available at that time)–but I am curious. Has Slezak? Cantiello liked it, dunno about Rickey (don’t care), Lyndsey and Laura Saltman lrurrrved it, and Perez had not dissed it, so that must be a thumbs up for him.

ETA: I tweeted Michael and Brian (just now). Of course…

  89. Why don’t we ask our expert’ ¦’ ¦’ ¦any ideas MJ?

I’m not really an expert, but… Adam said “Time for Miracles” wasn’t the single. And honestly, it wouldn’t be a very good single. It’s old-fashioned and not very pop-radio friendly. I’m sure RCA wants to make a splash on the pop charts with Adam’s first single. They’ll pick one of Adam’s dancey tunes to lead the album.

“Time for Miracles” is just a bonus.

  90. Ugh. See, that’s why its so hard making direct comparisons. Everyone can find the minutae to argue for or against their idol. LOL.

  91. “I just found out that Adam ranks #1 on the Itunes list of What’s Hot.”

This was a post at IDF- Does anyone know what this means?

Brian Mansfield tweeted this. Has he weighed in officially on TFM? Just curious.

    Not very much.

Me, I love watching John Cusack’s character scrambling to get his family out of harm’s way — He’s blasting through a building in a limo! He’s dodging fireballs in a plane! — while Adam just casually (well, maybe not casually) walks through the panicked, rubble-filled streets, singing a song, keeping his head while everyone around him is losing theirs.

    http://content.usatoday.com/communities/idolchatter/post/2009/10/adam-lambert-time-for-miracles-music-video/1

He has an poll of ‘With whom would you rather face the end of the world?’ between John Cusack and Adam.

ETA, If I have to bet, I guess he doesn’t like TFM.

  93. Ugh. See, that’s why its so hard making direct comparisons. Everyone can find the minutae to argue for or against their idol. LOL.

For me, all of the math just makes my head hurt. And, I often think that all of the twists and turns gone through to “prove” one’s theory make no sense. All of the extrapolating tends to lead to opinions stated as facts when no clear evidence exists.

He has an poll of ‘With whom would you rather face the end of the world?’ between John Cusack and Adam.

I’m going with Cusack, because he’s hilarious and I want to be laughing on my way out :)

Ugh. See, that’s why its so hard making direct comparisons. Everyone can find the minutae to argue for or against their idol. LOL.

You know what they say – “Statistics don’t lie, but liars use statistics”. No matter what point you’re trying to prove, someone will find a statistical method to illustrating their own opposing point, and then when you add in all the qualifiers and additional qualitative evidence, you’ve got a real mess on your hands. All I need to know is whether Adam’s song is successful, and for that it’s an unqualified YES!!!!

  95. He has an poll of ‘With whom would you rather face the end of the world?’ between John Cusack and Adam.

If I were to take the poll, of course I would say Adam, but a really close second, Cusack. I love, love Cusack.

  96. Last week’s #10 song (John Mayer’s single) sold 100K so it’s possible that Adam will sell that many. Again, I wouldn’t make any predictions until Sunday because the numbers are for a full week. But staying in the top 10 is always a good thing.

  97. I and a few others have analyzed the film, should you be so inclined to hop on over to the other thread.

On the other hand, we can just decide if we would rather face Adam *raising hand* or John Cusack *back in the 80s but not now* ;)

I Don’t Want to Miss A Thing did well, didn’t it, on the pop charts? I am not a huge Aerosmith fan, except for their 70s music (yes, I’m old), but I seem to think it did. But I don’t care if the single gets airplay–it’s getting sales and it’s getting Adam’s name out there, just in time for his album.

ETA; 80 percent would like to face Adam. ;)

  98. You know what they say ‘“ ‘Statistics don’t lie, but liars use statistics’ . Anthro, should I ever need an a lawyer, can you be mine?

    Who is buying this stuff?

Also, when people were talking about Cook going to #3, I thought they meant with Light On, not TOML.

Me too! How was LO doing 36 hours after it was released to iTunes?

  100. You know what they say ‘“ ‘Statistics don’t lie, but liars use statistics’ . No matter what point you’re trying to prove, someone will find a statistical method to illustrating their own opposing point, and then when you add it all the qualifiers and additional qualitative evidence, you’ve got a real mess on your hands.

That is soooooooooooooo true!! I work in government/politics so I see this allllllllllllllll the time. Which is why I look at polls with a grain of salt.

  101. BestAI: Anthro, should I ever need an a lawyer, can you be mine?

That’s an unqualified YES! Wait… ok, one qualifier… if you’re arrested on AT&T voter text fraud, I ain’t bailin’ yer donkey arse outa jail!

  102. I, er, like Adam’s NoBo (it grew on me). Want is pretty insipid, lyrics-wise (Love…is we want, it’s all that we really need, ad nauseum), and it’s from our friends at Hi-Fi, but…I bought that one, too. If it’s from Adam, I want it.

  103. This Top Gun anthem has cracked the Top Ten in less than two days? On what? A rabid fanbase, who compromise the vast majority of the online media audience so that exposure barely counts, and 1 ET clip.

This was no ground-breaking gotta have it now tune. This wasn’t the Real New Adam Single. Those are wonderful sales. Those are the people who will buy anything he does. For whom illegal download play-it-a-little isn’t enough. Fabulous base on which to build.

And they show that the rabid fanbase is solid. The confusion of whether or not it will be on the album could hold back some fans who aren’t quite up to rabid. All 200K of Adam’s Twitter followers haven’t purchased yet if #9 would be around 85-90K. Maybe they don’t want to buy twice or thrice. (Single, video, album.) If his two “singles” are on the album, lots of people may want to wait. Or maybe they’re not buying TFM at all. They may not like it. Know they won’t play it even if they love his voice. Especially in a recession.

Unemployment/consumer spending come into it. Last year, real unemployment was still under 10%. Now, ‘real’ unemployment figures stand closer to 20%.

This is realer than real. And trumps all sales figures of all things. But most especially whim indulgence purchases.

  108. genini- Re: Light On. I looked it up this morning and brought it from the other thread, I dug this up in the archives from last year: It was released early morning of September 30, 2008 and took two days to reach #3.

at 3:00 pm it reached #16 on Itunes on Sept 30th.
at 3:00 am it reached #11 on Itunes on October 1st

I thought jpfan mentioned above that singles downloads increased year to year? Also, what about Lipstick Economics– in tough times, don’t folks spend more on cheap entertainment like a $1.29 song, and less of luxuries or bigger ticket items?

  111. MJ:

Have you by any chance heard more info from your source about how exactly (as one of the 12, or a bonus 13th or something) TFM will be on the album?

MySpace allows for multiple voting. It’s highly possible that haters are driving the ratings down intentionally as the approval rating for the first 60k hits or so was well over 90%. (Also, MySpace doesn’t have a 5 star system, just thumbs up or down and no middle ground.)

But then again, I can’t emphasize how badly released this video is in terms of video quality (wrongly converted aspect ratio — I don’t mean the actual videography) that if I weren’t biased I would have given it a negative vote myself…

  113. I thought jpfan mentioned above that singles downloads increased year to year? Also, what about Lipstick Economics’“ in tough times, don’t folks spend more on cheap entertainment like a $1.29 song, and less of luxuries or bigger ticket items?

  118. Adam Lambert Video Shows A Monumental Performer
    http://www.rockstarweekly.com/content/view/1066/149/

RockStar Weekly is excited that the first post-Idol Lambert track and video is a rock track – ballad or not. With Idol performances alongside such rock legends as Queen and KISS, it would have been a shame to hear a pop/dance track first. Judging from the feedback, tweets and interviews, Lambert’s CD , For Your Entertainment which is expected in stores on Nov. 23 via 19 Recordings/RCA/Sony, should be somewhat similar to 1970s Queen albums, which featured a variety of rock, funk and quirky tracks, making for a unique and undeniable sound.

They are playing TFM on this Vancouver station!

    http://vancouver.virginradio.ca/player

OH yeah I got the link in time to hear The end of the song on a Radio station….Why is it that Canada is not only ahead of us as far as Health care for their citizens but can also play and awesome song on their radio stations regardless of where the artist came from.

By the way at the end of the song the DJ said Like Daughtry, Lambert proves you don’t have to win AI to be successful.

  122. They probably do unless they’re Amish, don’t use the internetz, are country fans or all of the above.

Ha, yes, but these people weren’t downloading before the economic downturn, so their continued lack of downloading won’t cause a decrease in single downloads because of the poor economy.

  123. Teraj

Have all the DDD boys gone on vacation? It’s so quiet over there.

  124. I may be wrong but it didn’t sound like the song was edited for radio. I think it was the full version.

Yay! Even if it was TFM and not his first ‘real’ single, it was so cool to hear him on the radio!!!

  125. Sidewalkstory, I think that poster was implying that Archie, too, was an easy target. FWIW, so was David Cook. Every article that ever came out about him was filled with nasty posts.

Positions and sales are really relative week to week. For instance, Archie had a higher chart rank the first week, but David Cook sold more units.

  126. terraj thanks for the quality download. Works great. I noticed that Brian Mansfield has the Myspace link on his site. That alone will make a difference in how people feel towards the vid. I guess he has to use that link but it is SO BAD. Poor quality makes for a poor first viewing of it.

  127. Positions and sales are really relative week to week. For instance, Archie had a higher chart rank the first week, but David Cook sold more units.

I think what someone was saying is that Adam doesn’t have as big of an internet fanbase as thought because those fans would/should have driven up TfM to #1 the first day.

  128. “Positions and sales are really relative week to week. For instance, Archie had a higher chart rank the first week, but David Cook sold more units.”

actually if you are talking singles(since well this is about a single song)… archie sold more than cook first week.

  129. IndyMuse: Positions and sales are really relative week to week. For instance, Archie had a higher chart rank the first week, but David Cook sold more units.

Being #1 in June or September is not equal to being #1 in November.

Anyway, the RIAA awards are the ones that matter — a chart ranking is nice but Platinum is better. Look at Jordin Sparks!

And that’s what gets me so annoyed about this whole fuck up. That they have a fairly awesome video and they had to screw up right at the point of delivery.

I think what someone was saying is that Adam doesn’t have as big of an internet fanbase as thought because those fans would/should have driven up TfM to #1 the first day.

I have quite a no. of friends who don’t follow Adam’s news in the US as rabidly as I do but would readily shell out cash to buy his album. Just sayin’.

  131. ‘There are three kinds of lies: lies, damn lies, and statistics.’ Thought I knew the source, but it’s not clear to me.

That’s because the source is fuzzy. Believed to have been Disreli or Twain quoting an autobiography of Disreli, it’s (I believe) neither one and instead some random British guy.

Anyhew, yeah, I hope and think, the original plan with Adam’s real single will go forth and it will be a pop elctro thing as well, because that’s what Adam has seemed to indicate will be the case, and would a nice contrast to TfM which is very ’80s rock ballad. Oh and please oh please just remain a bonus on the album. That or a 13th song. Which like a 13th floor in a building, can be ignored or left out.

Adam Lambert Video Shows A Monumental Performer
    http://www.rockstarweekly.com/content/view/1066/149/

RockStar Weekly is excited that the first post-Idol Lambert track and video is a rock track ‘“ ballad or not. With Idol performances alongside such rock legends as Queen and KISS, it would have been a shame to hear a pop/dance track first.

Poor RockStar Weekly – they’re so counting on hits from AdamRock fans to keep their stats up for their web site, so it’ll be interesting to see their reaction once his “real” single and CD are released. Will they stand by their man and keep his photo next to Chickenhead and Screamaticca, or will they acknowledge that Dirty Adam has been usurped by Glam Adam? Only time will tell, but I wouldn’t rule out the sudden appearance of an “Under construction” banner on their site pending a revamp and relaunch as “GlamStar Weekly: All Adam, All the Time”.

  133. “”For me, all of the math just makes my head hurt. And, I often think that all of the twists and turns gone through to ‘prove’ one’s theory make no sense. All of the extrapolating tends to lead to opinions stated “”

Me too spense – I just skip those, some people have way too much time on their hands, I like this song, it is good, cant wait until we get more from him. He is going places x minus z or not!

  134. Thought I read somewhere Adam may have recorded 28 tracts and that was before Lady Gaga song. Whatever the real number, what are the chances we could get them all? Yes, I’m greedy.

  135. Why is it that Canada is not only ahead of us as far as Health care for their citizens but can also play and awesome song on their radio stations regardless of where the artist came from.

It’s the same reason that they don’t have the same health-care issues that we do. In Canada, the government is allowed to tell big corporations what to do. In the United States, big corporations are allowed to tell the government — and everyone else — what to do.

So big corporations run virtually all U.S. radio and do what they think is in the best interests of them and of other big corporations.

    Canadian radio content rules:

“Canadian broadcasting policy is defined by Section 3 of the Broadcasting Act, which stipulates that:

    * radio frequencies are public property

    * broadcast programming provides a public service essential to national identity and cultural sovereignty

    * the Canadian broadcasting system should provide a wide range of programming that reflects Canadian attitudes, opinions, ideas, values and artistic creativity”

    http://www.media-awareness.ca/english/issues/cultural_policies/canadian_content_rules.cfm

  136. Thanks for the link Mischa. I’m so proud of Vancouver… now we just need to get through that 2010 thing in one piece.

Dhunken … yes, it’s all true … but we have high hopes for other regions as well

I’m just taking a lunch break from RL and … #10 … yes. yes. yes. Yay Adam! But why aren’t people jumping up and down more? Or am I missing something? Does it have to be #1 for there to be sustained flailing?

  137. It’s amazing that TFM made it to Itunes #10 without any spins. But to sell the number of units needed to climb to #1 against songs that are receiving heavy radio play, wouldn’t TFM also need many spins in addition to internet and TII publicity?

I wonder whether Sony/RCA have a radio promotion plan for TFM, especially now that it will be on the FYE album, or if they are holding off for the pop track instead.

  138. Poor RockStar Weekly ‘“ they’re so counting on hits from AdamRock fans to keep their stats up for their web site, so it’ll be interesting to see their reaction once his ‘real’ single and CD are released. Will they stand by their man and keep his photo next to Chickenhead and Screamaticca, or will they acknowledge that Dirty Adam has been usurped by Glam Adam? Only time will tell, but I wouldn’t rule out the sudden appearance of an ‘Under construction’ banner on their site pending a revamp and relaunch as ‘GlamStar Weekly: All Adam, All the Time’ .

Their devotion is pretty funny especially considereing the type of acts they usually feature.

  139. One of the endearing things I found out about Canada was during the Perez/Black-Eyed Peas fight. Perez was going to sue the BEP but found out he could only get something like $10,000 in Canada. hahaha, last laugh.

  140. I’m just taking a lunch break from RL and ‘ ¦ #10 ‘ ¦ yes. yes. yes. Yay Adam! But why aren’t people jumping up and down more? Or am I missing something? Does it have to be #1 for there to be sustained flailing?

I’m extremely excited. This is siiiiiiick !!!!!!

  141. Adam Lambert’s ‘Time for Miracles’ video: Spoiler alert! Not everyone dies in ‘2012.’
    by Michael Slezak

    http://music-mix.ew.com/2009/10/21/adam-lambert-time-for-miracles-video-2012/

Now, however, without further ado, here are the Top 5 Things That Went Through My Mind While Watching the ‘Time for Miracles’ Video:

    1) Yes! Adam moodily posing on a moodily lit rooftop is an image worthy of repeat viewings.

    2) Adam moodily strolling in front of a green-screen on which images of global destruction/panic-stricken masses fly by? Not quite as much.

I’m gonna respect Slezak’s busy schedule but Michelle Collins review is da best.
    http://www.bestweekever.tv/2009-10-21/adam-lamberts-time-for-miracles-video-cashes-in-on-slumdog-millionaire-hype/

  142. Comparing runners up from seasons 7 and 8, David Archuleta’s first single, “Crush,” reached #1 on Itunes in about 15 hours and remained #1 for 7-8 days. Crush went on to sell 1.9M copies, with 1st week numbers reaching 166K. Meanwhile, the debut album sold 183K 1st week out and is currently at around 750K (US) 11 months post release. This is not a competition, mind you, just for comparison/instructional purposes. Make of it what you will.

  143. Buderschnookie

I like your thinking. I agree and someone else said it would also be the perfect tour name – I also agree.
And someone said possible song name FYE – I also agree highly possible.
I also said in a previous thread that with the cover art and title in a cool font the title will go along way to completing the idea behind the choice.

As always we need to trust Adam – he’s been making some great choices – some we may or may not share his vision on at first – but we seem to come around. I just like watching it happen.

  144. They probably do unless they’re Amish, don’t use the internetz, are country fans or all of the above.

My sister is a country-lovin’, internet-avoiding Amish woman from Lancaster PA, but she really loves Twitter.

He is going places x minus z or not!

But Sumi, that could totally change if you take x minus z times y to the 3rd power :)

  145. I’M SO HAPPY!!!’ but I think I’m
    squeeeeee-d out;)

    nope .SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

lol so when is the tfm video on iTunes ?!

    ok,I’ll b back later..

  146. When I first heard the title of Adams album, FYE, I wasn’t sure about it. Didn’t hate it, didn’t love it….just on the fence, I guess. But, when I saw Allison’s album cover I got a bit excited. If they do Adam’s like that, with his name in bold letters with For Your Entertainment underneath and smaller, then it works for me. I’m liking it more already.

I’m so excited he’s already made it to #10 on itunes. Go Adam!!!!

And, just my opinion, but I really do think we’ll have a single from his album very soon. He said it would be out in Oct. and I don’t think that’s going to change. I believe what he says. :) He hasn’t let me down yet.

I absolutely love TFM and the video too! Very sexy, dusty (sorry, had to) Adam is yummy! I hope we can buy the video soon. I’m sure it will be better quality when it’s available for purchase.

Also, just heard a bit of the music from Mad World about halfway through General Hospital today. It’s almost over now, so will have to wait and see if I hear Adam sing at the end. Yep, he’s singing now….right at the very end. :):) Not the whole song, but the very end this time, almost to the glory note!!

  147. “For your Entertainment” reminds me of Robbie Williams song “Let me Entertain you”.

I think it’s as good a title as any- titles don’t really mean much- hey, my favourite album of all time is named after a street for god’s sake (Abbey Road, duh!).

And once again- I remind you all- don’t forget about us international fans! We may not be able to download singles- for now- but we will def. be buying albums!!!

  148. Comparing runners up from seasons 7 and 8, David Archuleta’s first single, ‘Crush,’ reached #1 on Itunes in about 15 hours and remained #1 for 7-8 days.

Well, bless your heart – I wondered how that dear little boy was doin’! Isn’t that wonderful!

Maybe one day that precious child will be able to open for the one and only Adam Lambert! Wouldn’t that be nice?

  149. oh my gosh, hey ya, I think the popularity bar jumped a little. TFM seems to be running neck and neck with the BEP. Is it my imagination??

  150. Thank you so much, Terraj, for the link to your fixed-aspect ratio video of Time for Miracles!

Adam always looks pretty, but even better when he is not “elongated”!
Beautiful song, wonderful voice, gorgeous man!

I’ve discovered that I’m a big fan of cheesy rock ballads…when Adam sings them!! Actually, I’m a big fan of anything…when Adam sings it!!

  151. Squirrely and others: I take it back … you provide evidence of sustained excitement … thank you so much … my faith is restored …

But Sumi, that could totally change if you take x minus z times y to the 3rd power

  152. I am not worried at all about Adam. On the contrary, I am happy, and excited with all what ´s coming on his way. He has never disappointed me. Being on the top 10 on Itunes, and #1 on Amazon, just tells us we don ´t have to worry. Too many things are ahead for Adam, and his fans.

  153. Have to comment on Budershnookie’s post from earlier—LOVE IT!!!!. I’m still looking for my panties!

Congrats to Adam…my heart soars for you BB..you deserve all of the accolades. I can’t wait to see what is next. You can “entertain” me anytime.

  154. From Slezak’s Music Mix article:

    4) Adam’s tousled, jet-black mop is a thing of ridiculous beauty, but my mom is going to be totes disappointed that he’s dialed back on the guyliner. Yes, people, sad to say that five months after the season 8 finale, Polly Slezak has not yet managed to perfect the ‘Glambert eye’ she became so obsessed with between February and May of 2009.

I guess Polly Slezak is waiting for Glam Adam!

  155. “The awesome video for Adam Lambert’s “Time For Miracles” ‘” his hot new jam from the upcoming Roland Emmerich apocalypse comedy 2012 ‘” at last arrived on the Internet today. In it, the American Idol runner-up, hair tousled by falling asteroids, wanders through burning wreckage, past ambulances and panicked survivors, mournfully squealing about a failed relationship. That may seem a little incongruous, but both song and images should together delight any fan of disaster porn. As Movieline points out, though, the video pretty much gives away the movie’s (hugely disappointing!) ending, so proceed with caution.”

Wasn’t sure where to put this, but the above blurb (with the video) is from NY Magazine. Sounds like they like it.

  156. terraj thanks for the quality download. Works great. I noticed that Brian Mansfield has the Myspace link on his site. That alone will make a difference in how people feel towards the vid. I guess he has to use that link but it is SO BAD. Poor quality makes for a poor first viewing of it

Could someone repost the link to a good version of Adam MV vs. the MySpace Diet Version?

    Thanks.

  157. For Your Entertainment brings to mind For Your Eyes Only… which is kinda the vibe Adam gives off. Sexy, smirky, hey-I’m-looking-at-you-and-only-you-babe type thing. No?

  158. Maybe one day that precious child will be able to open for the one and only Adam Lambert! Wouldn’t that be nice?

or vice-versa – no one knows what the future holds… stay tuned :)

  159. beehiway, how do you see the popularity bars? *itunes challenged*

Not beehiway, but in the top left corner of iTunes it says view, click on that, and then click on view options. Popularity can be selected from there.

TFM is neck and neck with both #9 & #8! yay!

  160. Lindsay Parker tweets:

Just went to 19 offices where I heard 8 Kris Allen songs & 4 Adam Lambert songs!! Loved everything I heard! So excited for these albums.

  161. Buderschnookie: The album title ‘For Your Entertainment’ is Corporate PC Adam code for ‘Let me bring you to tears with my voice, make you laugh until you cry, dance you into exhaustion, and titillate you to within an inch of your life until your panties go poof! and you collapse into one big pile of steaming drool. You will go happy, deeply and thoroughly satisfied, and with a smile on your face, I promise you that!’

ITA this is what I now believe. But I must admit that the first thing I thought of when I heard Adam’s album title, “For Your Entertainment”, was this “Let Me Entertain You”:

    M.C.
The Wichita, one and only burlesque theater, presents
    Miss Gypsy Rose Lee

    Gypsy
    Let me entertain you
    Let me make you smile

    Momma Rose
    Sing out, Louise!

    Gypsy
Let me do a few tricks
Some old and then some new tricks
    I’m very versatile
    And if you’re real good
    I’ll make you feel good
I’d want your spirit to climb
    So let me entertain you
We’ll have a real good time,
    Yes sir!
    We’ll have…
    A real good time!

Well, looking at the lyrics, I think I’ll go with my first impression.

The popularity bars are so close’ ¦ it will get to #9 soon!

Popularity bars, eh? Maybe Kris should belly on up to that bar and toss back a couple shots of whatever Adam’s having. You know, switch his order from “lemonade, two fingers, neat!” to “screaming Adamgasm on the Rock, straight up!”

  163. Now its’s 372 for Want and 483 for NOBO

Interesting that even Want is outselling NoBo. :)

I have to admit to being one of those who bought them both, though, (don’t tell anyone!), but I bought them while waiting for TFM and the album single to come out. See what happens when you make me wait!

I did also buy TFM, which I love, and can’t stop listening to. I even had TFM running through my dreams all of last night. Fortunately, none of the disaster scenes in my dreams, though.

I’m happy to see that TFM is now top 10 in ITunes, and still holding at #1 on Amazon! I’ll be interested in seeing how that translates to sales, but since TFM has pulled ahead of John Mayer, I’m hoping that will translate to decent sales.

I’m frustrated to see that LLWD, though, only sold 10,000 this last week, and is at 126 on ITunes, and 244 on Amazon. Kris should be doing better than that…. Maybe some of these upcoming gigs will help out.

I’m also frustrated that we have no idea what is going on with Allison’s single. I bought it during that short period of time that it was available, but what’s up with it disappearing after that?

Hard to figure out what is going on with these releases, but it’s at least exciting to see Adam’s single in the top 10 on ITunes!

  164. Also, just heard a bit of the music from Mad World about halfway through General Hospital today. It’s almost over now, so will have to wait and see if I hear Adam sing at the end. That’s the good thing about getting your song on a soap. It takes them like 5 days to finish a single scene, so you get a lot more exposure LOL.

So jealous. How is it that a writer from Yahoo!Music scoops both EW and MTV? She is seriously on the ball.

ETA: “Co-creator Ryan Murphy tells EW that he’s considering approaching American Idol runner up Adam Lambert about appearing on the show (next year, Glee will be paired with Idol on Wednesday nights). Nothing is official ye,t but Lambert does seem like an ideal choice for Glee.”

    Squee!

  168. Maybe one day that precious child will be able to open for the one and only Adam Lambert! Wouldn’t that be nice?

or vice-versa ‘“ no one knows what the future holds’ ¦ stay tuned

No matter who opens for who that would be one odd ball tour.

  169. Thanks, mgk! I knew popularity bars have been used in the past to sort of estimate sales #s, but I never saw them!

Kris’ sales aren’t good. They need to get the video out, pronto!

  170. I wanna see popularity bars, but I can’t figure out how!!!!

Can I get clarification…Mad World was used AGAIN on General Hospital today???? I must know this..lol.

    and Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! for #10!

  171. Lyndsay is so lucky! Cant wait to read her comments on Adam’s! It will be non-stop excitement until november, I dont think I will survive…

The popularity bars are so close’ ¦ it will get to #9 soon!

Time to buy another 10 copies each, right? J/K (sort of…)

    Anthrogeek – too funny! LOL.

  173. Lindsay Parker, Jim C and Micheal Slezak seem to like everything. Do they ever have anything negative to say. Like I heard six songs and two were just okay. I’d say they were on the 19 payroll but they don’t like everyone. I think they all hate Danny Gokey. I guess that’s still allowed.

At this point, based on the three singles released so far, I’d say all three are overhyping everything.

  174. This is from the EW article:

Co-creator Ryan Murphy tells EW that he’s considering approaching American Idol runner up Adam Lambert about appearing on the show (next year, Glee will be paired with Idol on Wednesday nights). Nothing is official ye,t but Lambert does seem like an ideal choice for Glee.

  175. Don’t know if it’s true or not, but people have said over on TWOP for a while that this woman is the art director for Adam’s album (she certainly is *an* art director for various Sony labels …). And if she would be allowed to do with his album anything near the level of what she’s done for Beyonce’s Live in Vegas cover shown on this page, then things look very promising, to me:

    http://www.fukoblog.com/

  176. ‘Co-creator Ryan Murphy tells EW that he’s considering approaching American Idol runner up Adam Lambert about appearing on the show (next year, Glee will be paired with Idol on Wednesday nights). Nothing is official ye,t but Lambert does seem like an ideal choice for Glee.’

When this rumor first hit way back in May (June?) it seemed to make PERFECT sense! Fox is all about the cross-promotion with it’s artists, talent, shows, what have you. Having Adam appear on Glee (given his background, Fox connection, etc) seems like a natural fit.

I SOOO hope this happens :-) Please please!

  177. BTW – anyone having trouble updating the itunes chart feed? I change the numbers for the counter and see no updates. Does the chart freeze at a certain point each day?

  178. hey hoppers? is adam craking the top 10 good enough for you to get out your carpetbag for? lol :D

    oma album preview bloooooog!!!!!!!!!

  179. SQUEE! #9!

And ignore my last post – I figured it out :-) Feed now shows #9!!!!

  180. Lindsay Parker, Jim C and Micheal Slezak seem to like everything. Do they ever have anything negative to say.

Haha. I don’t know about Jim, but Slezak and Lyndsey Parker both gave Light On negative reviews. Then again, from what I recall most bloggers gave LO negative reviews, so they weren’t giving giving against-the-grain reviews then either. But yeah, this year, seems like they love everything from Kradison.

  181. Yes, people, sad to say that five months after the season 8 finale, Polly Slezak has not yet managed to perfect the ‘Glambert eye’ she became so obsessed with between February and May of 2009.

Polly needs to get herself some MAC Kohl eyeliner in Smoulder.

    #9!!!!!!!!

  182. IDK about Adam and Glee… somehow I don’t see them together. May just be me.

  183. The best thing about that Glee blurb is that — as a new show — there is no history regarding whether it’s traditional for the winner or the runner up to get that gig.

  184. TFM is now #9
    http://ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wpa/MRSS/topsongs/sf=1764943/limit=10/rss.xml

See? My pop. bars watch is giving results! I can see it 2 mins earlier lol

Adam in Glee would be so perfect!

Lindsay Parker, Jim C and Micheal Slezak seem to like everything. Do they ever have anything negative to say. Like I heard six songs and two was just okay. I’d say they were on the payroll but they don’t like everyone. I think they all hate Danny Gokey. I guess that’s still allowed.

Lyndsay destroyed Light On, so maybe age came suddenly and made her warmer or she just likes it. Jim C. and Slezak love everything Kris does (and Allison), not so much Adam. They are being nice now because they have to (YMMV, but thats how I see), because during the show they definitely didnt like everything. I will only believe after they comment on the albums, though.

PS on my pop. bar watch: TFM is very close to the 8th place Papparazzi, so if it keeps selling in will reach #8 soon

  185. When this rumor first hit way back in May (June?) it seemed to make PERFECT sense! Fox is all about the cross-promotion with it’s artists, talent, shows, what have you. Having Adam appear on Glee (given his background, Fox connection, etc) seems like a natural fit.

Ooooooh, yes. …. And let it be an episode with Joss Whedon directing. (well, as long as I’m hoping …)

And — number 9! Holy crap, he passed the Black Eyed Peas. I’m psyched.

  187. Shut up! He’s #9? Oh, I can not breathe! Somebody grab me my inhaler. That sweet man is on his way to being a super star. A super star!!!!

Cool. That Beyonce album is certainly not the kind of thing we’ve come to expect for the Idols … ahem.

  190. Don’t know if it’s true or not, but people have said over on TWOP for a while that this woman is the art director for Adam’s album (she certainly is *an* art director for various Sony labels ‘ ¦).
    http://www.fukoblog.com/

I like it! I can definitely see something great (and very ADAM) coming out of this collaboration!

I just downloaded TfM. I choose to believe that is the reason it’s changed to #9.

    Way to go 4Msrmyn! :-)

  192. I’m sure Lea Michele has been begging for Adam on Glee. She was fangirling about him on the Rachel Ray show today, that she’d love to sing with him.

  193. I just downloaded TfM. I choose to believe that is the reason it’s changed to #9.

It was all you. YOU GO GIRL…or BOY!

  194. Lindsay Parker, Jim C and Micheal Slezak seem to like everything. Do they ever have anything negative to say.

Yeah, not sure how much of a huge heaping grain of salt I’ll have to take Lyndsey’s reviews with, given that she LOVES all the songs she’s heard so far, 8 from Kris and 4 from Adam, that’s a lot…

Though I can’t really complain, since she’s got song scoopage, and is willing to spill (some) deets!

  195. He’s no 9? Seriously?!!

    OMG! Yay!

Gaga is in his way, if she could kindly just step aside I would be very grateful.

  196. ITA this is what I now believe. But I must admit that the first thing I thought of when I heard Adam’s album title, ‘For Your Entertainment’ , was this ‘Let Me Entertain You’ :

Like you, I thought of the Gypsy Rose Lee refrain, but then considered the song “Let Me Entertain You” by Queen

“Let me welcome you ladies and gentlemen
I would like to say hello
Are you ready for some entertainment?
Are you ready for a show?
    Gonna rock gonna roll you
Get you dancing in the aisles
    Jazz and a razzmatazz you
With a little bit of style
    Cmon let me entertain you
Let me entertain you let me entertain you

Ive come here to sell you my body
I can show you some good merchandise
Ill pull you and pill you
    Ill crueladeville you
And to thrill you Ill use any device”

  197. Gaga is in his way, if she could kindly just step aside I would be very grateful.

They’re BFF’s now, right? I’m sure she’d be more than happy to oblige ;-)

  198. My computer is very sensitive and it fainted the first time I tried to download Adam Lambert singing.

  199. yay — left my office to go to a meeting, came back to see that tfm is now # 9! woohoo

  200. The best thing about that Glee blurb is that ‘” as a new show ‘” there is no history regarding whether it’s traditional for the winner or the runner up to get that gig.

Runner-ups seem to get more of the “acting gigs” during the album release season. Kat was on “Ugly Betty” and Archie was on “Hannah Montana”. Even original-flavour runner-up Justin was offered a spot on “Friends” (but 19E made him turn it down because he wasn’t the winner…back in the old days).

I think that the first 13 episodes of “Glee” are in the can, though (certainly, the actors have talked about filming that episode a while ago). They got picked up for the back 9 and are filming them now. So, if anybody gets cast in the show it won’t be seen until the spring.

Shut up! He’s #9? Oh, I can not breathe! Somebody grab me my inhaler. That sweet man is on his way to being a super star. A super star!!!!

Glamzilla, since you’re new here and all, I’d recommend you pace yerself… it’s gonna be a bumpy ride and at this rate of flailing, somebody’s liable to get hurt… maybe even put an eye out.

  202. CindyM….Yes, I was the one who posted that Mad World was used again today on GH. Same as the last time, a bit of the music about halfway through and then Adam’s singing at the end. Not the whole song, just part of it. He almost made it to the glory note today. :)

WOW!! #9!! Go Adam! This is so much fun!!!!

  203. Squirrely, and World Domination it shall be. Only Adam has the necessary tools to pull this off–the talent, charisma, drive, and all that we are already aware of. He has the gonads to make it happen. He has a vulnerability but also has a toughness about him–not to mention he is smart, experienced, and has already spent time abroad. Plus we know that he already has a fanbase across the world, and he will expand that shortly.

I’ve been lurking for the past couple of weeks and am so excited about “everything Adam”. I just returned from Nashville for a three-day weekend and left my laptop at home. I almost had to get Ativan from my mom to take care of my anxiety over missing Adam. Had lots of good news awaiting when I returned. Way to go, Adam!!!!

  204. Hi mjsbigblogers,

I’d like to add that a majority of Adam Lambert’s fans have embraced our coverage at RockStar Weekly, judging by the emails we receive and the numerous entries in our top fans contest. I’d also like to give props to mjsbigblog for the amazing Idol coverage they do.

I wanted to throw my 2 cents into this conversation, because I read a post that basically said we at RockStar Weekly would close up shop because Adam Lambert’s next song won’t be a rock track. To that poster, I’d like to say thanks for the support. With fans chopping down the media that is giving Adam positive coverage is really not a benefit to Adam or his career.

We are a rock magazine, yes, and we will always be a rock magazine. We cover all types of rock, from the heavy guys like Slayer to the more mainstream acts like Queen and KISS. Both Queen and KISS were glam in the 70s and 80s, so Adam is not much different for us as you may think. Have you even listened to an entire Queen album? At times Queen is as far from “rock” as possible? Another One Bites The Dust – not really something that sounds much like Hell Awaits from Slayer, but still considered rock. We just interviewed Foreigner and Trooper – these bands have nothing in common with Slayer either. So if you think we’re only about extreme metal, boy are you missing the mark.

We chose to cover Adam when the American Idol tour came to Vancouver (our home city) and we’ve been supportive the entire time. Will we give as much coverage to a non-rock track on the CD? – obviously not, as it won’t fit our format, but once the album is out, Adam will be considered the same as all the artists that we cover – if it’s newsworthy it will make the news, if it’s just rumblings about the new track he’s doing with Lady Gaga, you probably won’t hear it from us, and we’ll just wait for tour announcements and actual news. In fact, we passed on the Lady Gaga angle. We have been excited because we knew the first track was going to be Time For Miracles, which sounds a hell of a lot like something Queen would have recorded.

My hopes are that some of the Adam Lambert fans will take the time to browse our site and look at some bands and artists that they may have otherwise not have. The world of music is pretty vast, and by pigeonholing a singer as capable as Adam as just glam is probably not what Adam would want. Adam is glam, pop, dance, theatre and rock all rolled up into one unique artist.

The first song that was released is a killer rock ballad, so embrace the idea that maybe he likes to rock a bit too. Whole Lotta Love answers that question quite easily.

I invite everyone to download a free song from a new band from Los Angeles called Nero Zero. The rock track is a cover of the old Rick James dance song Super Freak. Just go to our site and click on the Nero story on the front page for the link to the free download. Like Adam, Nero Zero have taken rock to a different place. The first single from their album was written with Latoya Jackson and the free download is a cover of a funk classic.

    Peace Out!
    Dan

I love Rolling Stone ‘“ I seriously do.

And using a great pic at that! Awesomeness.

  206. The world of music is pretty vast, and by pigeonholing a singer as capable as Adam as just glam is probably not what Adam would want. Adam is glam, pop, dance, theatre and rock all rolled up into one unique artist.

Thank you, Dan. I completely agree. Adam is indeed a unique artist!

  207. NINE! YESSSS! Halfie owes me dinner–delayed nine–and he has agreed if we can meet up and I don’t tweet. I said this could not be guaranteed. ;)

BTW, Slezak’s review was pretty good (liked Adam, said mom would have preferred more guyliner, LOL). Lindsay and Laura love everything Adam does, and Slezak and Cantiello love everything that Allison and Kris do. And ultimately, I think Slezak carries more weight, b/c more ppl read EW.com and get EW than watch stuff on MTV.com (IMO). And no word from Mansfield, but who cares at this point, honestly.

    Anyway…kudos to Adam.

  208. ROCK STAR WEEKLY, GET A GRIP. WE LOVE ADAM AND WE ARE SO DAMN HAPPY FOR HIM. WHY BURST OUR BUBBLE. PUT ADAM ON YOUR COVER AND WE WILL BUY YOUR MAG. TO BAD YOU PASSED ON LADY GAGA CAUSE SHE IS HUGE. ARE YOU FOR REAL DAN???

  209. He tops BEP and now #9?! Yeah!
Here’s hoping he’ll top another BEP song on the top ten!

  210. Sunn, I love Rolling Stone love for Adam!

Runner-ups seem to get more of the ‘acting gigs’ during the album release season. Kat was on ‘Ugly Betty’ and Archie was on ‘Hannah Montana’ . Even original-flavour runner-up Justin was offered a spot on ‘Friends’ (but 19E made him turn it down because he wasn’t the winner’ ¦back in the old days).

Or maybe those runner ups were more appropriate to act than the winners. Dont know about justin, but Kat had experience in theather and archie was a teenager that would fit that show. This difference between the finalists was never as obvious as it is now, with adam being a professional actor and kris having no intention to act (I think he said it at some point, didnt he?)

  211. Thanks, Dan, from RockStarWeekly Love your site!

Glad to have found your great site through your fair coverage of Adam Lambert and his music.

  212. Cool post, Dan.

But I don’t think that the original poster meant that Rockstar Weekly would *literally* have to close up shop. Just that it might be interesting to see how you cover Adam if his next single is not glam in the Queen/KISS sense — but more in the glam-pop sense.

    Peace Back!

  213. They got picked up for the back 9 and are filming them now. So, if anybody gets cast in the show it won’t be seen until the spring.

Oh, I didn’t expect it was going to be before then. Was anybody else expecting this fall? That would be odd if he were.

Still a Kurt and Adam meeting, needs to happen. I’ll be amused.

  214. Rolling Stone has TFM as their No 1 Editor’s pick:

    http://www.rollingstone.com/

Slamdunk!!!! (Is that term one word or two?)

Seriously, did anybody expect anything less? They are as fangirly as Slezak, Jim and Lindsey. At least those three sometimes criticize their favourite.

  215. Wow. Hey Dan. Thanks for stopping by and the great post!

And thanks for the download – I love Super Freak. Heading there now.

Thanks for all you do to support Adam.

Agreed, Dan. I, for one, have visited your site more than once because of your coverage of Adam and have read about the other acts you cover. Thanks for supporting Adam – he’s definitely a force to be reckoned with!

  217. Okay, I-tunes and popularity bars
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/
from here select ipod + itunes tab
scroll down to iTunes preview line
    select Music button
under middle column (Top Songs) scroll down and select view all
a new window will pop up with a list of the top songs in music
in the very upper left corner are drop-down menus
select View menu, then View Options
In the View Options box that pops up check mark Popularity
    Click ok and close.
The window should now have the popularity bars showing for each song.

    hope this helps, good luck

  218. Thanks for stopping by Dan, and for your very reasoned response. I do believe I’ll be stopping by your site for that free download :)

Dan, I am giving you a round of applause. I come from listenig to Queen’s “Let Me Entertain You” to finding your post. Adam lives in the tradition of Queen, Bowie and many other glam rock legends. If he also produces something in the electro-pop vein it will not be because he has turned his back on anything, he’s just staying true to his multi-faceted self.

  220. Woohoo RockStarWeekly!!

Thanks for giving such great coverage to my favorite American Idol ever! Our Adam is definitely something special and I’m glad you appreciate his talent and give him a lot of coverage! I’ve enjoyed visiting your site and just want to say.. Rock On!!

  221. Seriously, did anybody expect anything less? They are as fangirly as Slezak, Jim and Lindsey. At least those three sometimes criticize their favourite.

Examples please Kristen, I have not seen either Jim or Slezak say anything negative about their favorite, in fact Jim has become so OTT that it’s become a joke…

  222. Thanks, Dan. Adam can sing most genres–I am sure rock will be included (maybe even a straight-ahead rock song, not glam-rock, electro, etc.). We hope you’ll continue to cover him.

God, RS loves them some Adam, and we loves them back. If it weren’t justified, I would laugh and write them off, but it is, so I won’t.

I hope anyone who doesn’t love (or even like) the song and/or video gives either or both another chance. At first, I thojught TfM was hokey, but it really grew on me after several listens (just as NoBo did). He can sing the heck out of anything, and I think he took a song that, without knowing the background of the co-writers, could be perceived as lightweight and made it meaningful. Listen to the subtlety of his voice, how it ebbs and flows. I find the same with the video. He is OTT? I don’t think so. I think his expressions fit the song nicely (plus, seriously, isn’t that the director’s job?). And he looks hot. So, anyway, much love to Adam. This is just the beginning. (I want him to star in a movie as well, but maybe not a blockbuster; something more quirky would be fine. Paging indie directors…choose Adam.)

  223. Peace Out!
    Dan
    http://www.rockstarweekly.com

Dan, I’m the one who posted earlier about RockStar Weekly, and I can assure you, it was meant as a JOKE! Adam fans are fully aware of the freakish versatility and vocal virtuosity exhibited by Adam thoughout his pre- and post-Idol career, and we couldn’t agree with you more, and we LOVE you for your devotion to Adam and his (multiple) causes!! Keep up the great work!!!! Most of us probably never heard of your publication until Adam started making regular appearances, and I, for one, will be sure to check out the new artist with the Rick James cover you mentioned, as ol’ skool funk is my favorite genre, and it’s as fascinating to see it covered by new rock acts as it is to see what Adam has in store for us next. So, yes, even Adam’s fans cannot be pigeonholed into one genre. Rock ON, RockStar Weekly!!

  224. With fans chopping down the media that is giving Adam positive coverage is really not a benefit to Adam or his career.

    Thanks for dropping by, but….

You do realize that some of us don’t give a rats a$$ about benefiting Adam or his career? Some of us just want to be blow bags and SQUEE and write opinions and flail and write wild theories and make predictions and snark on other media if we feel like it. I don’t think it’s the mandate of this site to street team for anybody. We are one of those crazy sites that are destroying the world with our ranting. BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

  225. in fact Jim has become so OTT that it’s become a joke’ ¦

Yeah… gotta agree with this. I essentially ignore all good and bad that comes from him. Zero objectivity.

  226. #9 is fantastic but right now I’m squeeing loudest for the possibility of Adam on Glee! I’ve been hoping for this since it premiered.

  227. Sounds like Dan was worried about hordes of angry Adam fans boycotting the site or some awful thing.

  228. Seriously, did anybody expect anything less? They are as fangirly as Slezak, Jim and Lindsey. At least those three sometimes criticize their favourite.

I consider Slezak, Jim and Lindsey to be inside the idol bubble. I don’t think that of Rolling Stone, and neither do people who subscribe to it.
When have Jim or Slezak been anything but fangirly over Kris? I’ve yet to see it!

  229. Ooh, number 9!!!! So happy! Kind of peeved that work is interfering with my ‘real’ life here!!!

  230. Thanks so much, Dan of Rock Star Weekly, for dropping by and sharing broad minded views about music, particularly rock music! I couldn’t agree more. And, thanks too for the heads-up on a cool free download from an artist not yet known to me. I’ll be dropping by momentarily to pick it up! I’m a sucker for free new music, just ask Amazon. :-)

  231. So glad you commented RSW Dan – I never see anywhere to comment on your site, which I visit alot. I was actually wondering how Adam came to your attention and why all the articles have been posted considering that AI doesn’t turn out many rock artists – thanks for giving us a little background.

    @halfie You’re killing me.

  232. Kudos to the post by Dan from rockstarweekly…the song from that Nero Zero band is pretty good! (although I dont love their album cover…it looks like the Nazi symbol..yes I know this symbol existed before but its (still) associated w/Hitler when we see it…There are still Holocaust survivors (that are alive)…sorry, didnt mean to digress..
and OMGF cant believe Adam surpassed the Black Eyed Peas lol…
cant wait for his other single…Perez Hilton needs to clarify taht TFM is from the soundtrack of 2012 ppl on hi site seemed confused.
w/e…he still sounds great and the song is doing really well imho…
wonder what will happen after TII premieres and the Oprah appearance…and the AMA performance….sooo much to look forward to!
    I can hardly wait.

    !

Here’s a free exclamation point, since you probably just ran out them.

  234. Hey Dan. I look around your site every time I visit to read columns. Interesting info and new sounds there. Thanks.

  235. My hopes are that some of the Adam Lambert fans will take the time to browse our site and look at some bands and artists that they may have otherwise not have.

    Dan,
Thank you for coming to visit us. I will certainly visit your site, as I have many times before. I am one of the few that enjoys rock much more so than pop and am glad you are around.

  236. Examples please Kristen, I have not seen either Jim or Slezak say anything negative about their favorite, in fact Jim has become so OTT that it’s become a joke’ ¦

Read Slezak’s recaps throughout the season. He will call out his fav’s. Jim is kidding a bit with this OTT crap. Kind of like the Vulture with Archie. Sure, he likes Kris, but he will say negative things about him. Seriously.

And, please provide examples of Rolling Stone posting negative stuff about Adam.

  237. I have yet to hear RS criticize Adam, in fairness…but honestly, if people make their judgments based on Slezak or Cantiello, well…

I love Super Freak. Awesome cover! (Rick James is DA MAN, as Adam would say, if he were to say that about Rick James. I don’t know if he would, but I bet his dad would.)

  238. Hmmmmm RockStar Weekly swinging by to say ‘Hi’. Didn’t know this was such a popular or well known hang out. Maybe I’ll have to watch what I say…. Nah!

  239. Dan,

You probably already know that the Adam fans really do appreciate your support for Adam. You probably also know that his fans love his incredible vocals whether he sings a rock or soft ballad. What you may not know is that Adam’s fans are first to discover Adam articles and music, including articles in Rockstar Weekly. What you also may not know is his fans can be very snarky. Sometimes you have to take us with a grain of salt.

And then there are some who just don’t like Adam, so you can take it from there.

Once again, thanks for your support and coverage of Adam.

  240. Seriously, did anybody expect anything less? They are as fangirly as Slezak, Jim and Lindsey. At least those three sometimes criticize their favourite.

which is interesting because I don’t think I’ve ever seen them fangirl over someone from Idol before. I disagree that Slexak and Jim have ever criticized Kris nor has Lindsey ever, as far as I know criticized Adam. They are all pretty flaily most of the time.

Read Slezak’s recaps throughout the season. He will call out his fav’s. Jim is kidding a bit with this OTT crap. Kind of like the Vulture with Archie. Sure, he likes Kris, but he will say negative things about him. Seriously.

I never took Jim’s OTT flailing of Kris as a joke, honestly. I always assumed he had a man crush on him *shrug* I will agree that on the show, Slezak would call his favorites to task, albeit lovingly, if they did something he did not like. And I’ve found Slezak to actually be pretty even handed with Kradison in general. Jim C? not so much. He never speaks, as far as I know, about Allison, he always flails over Kris and he offers tepid or back handed compliments to Adam.

And, please provide examples of Rolling Stone posting negative stuff about Adam.

I don’t think they need to be negative to prove their objectivity. Perhaps they just think Adam is a phenomenal singer? It’s Rolling Stone, they don’t need Adam to get hits or generate traffic on their site. Unlike the other three, who honestly, aren’t really taken seriously, IMO, as music critics, RS is a reputable music magazine which has a long and established history. There is no hidden agenda in their praise ofAdam. I think he makes them genuinely excited because he’s a throw back to the days of yore but also very current and modern. Not to mention his fierce attitude, which is totally rock and roll.

Phew!!! Thanks, halfie, you saved my !$%#&!

  242. He will call out his fav’s. Jim is kidding a bit with this OTT crap. Kind of like the Vulture with Archie. Sure, he likes Kris, but not that much. Seriously.

I agree. I think Jim is VERY tongue in cheek with a lot of his fanboy squeeing.

And seriously Kirsten, you just cracked my sh*t up with that street team post.

Honestly, I’m willing to give Rolling Stone a break on their flailing too. I think the musical landscape has been a wee bit boring for the past couple of years, and those guys are just grasping for anything remotely interesting. I suppose Adam should take it as a compliment that he’s currently the object of their affection. But honestly, I think some of this is just so they don’t have to write another article about the Jonas Brothers or Miley.

  243. Dan, Love your site. Would not have known about it if not for the features on Adam Lambert. RocksStarWeekly now ranks high on my list of go to places to for up-to-date info. I really dig the Lambert fan competition you are running. I spent some time trying to figure out an angle for myself so that I could enter but alas I am just a flailing fangirl.

  244. Welcome rockstarweekly (Dan) and thank you so much for your support of Adam, I for one appreciate it greatly.

Please don’t take the comments made here to heart, as they are most likely said with tongue firmly embedded in cheek. We’re a snarky bunch here at mj’s.

You are absolutely correct in saying that Adam can not be boxed into a genre. His musical style does span the spectrum, and why should it not? When one is blessed with a voice that can sing anything, one would be a fool not take advantage of it. That said, I do believe Adam’s rock side is organic to his musical character, and will continue to be a part of who he is as a singer. In that way, I have no worries regarding my hope to continue seeing Adam’s name on your site pages.

Speaking for myself, I have always taken the time to peruse your magazine
when I visit your site, and will continue to do so whenever I’m there.

Thank you for the free download offer. I shall certainly make use of it.

  245. My question would be, does RS have a dedicated body to cover AI? To me there is a vested interest for Slezak, Jim & Lindsey (?) to be dramatic, OTT and pick sides.

  246. beehiway, to confusing. I will use my iPhone and my computer and you guys to determine how Adam is doing (well to continue to see how well he is doing). Note: John Mayer fell to #11. ;) (I like him, but I can’t say I’m crying about this.)

I have been doing a fine job of not squeeing today. I will resume squeeing activities tomorrow. Flailing is still in progress. It’s just tiring, so I try to reserve my energy. When TfM gets to #8, I promise to flail.

Oh, I love the Adam Storm, I really do…and my Twitter avatar does, too.

*back to watch video for 10th time or so today*

ETA: Sunn is snarky all the time. Well, most of the time. Just so you know. ;) (Snarky but smart as hell.)

  247. Wow, Jim C comes to this site and we’re supposed to hold his opinion with reverance

LOL. Jim gets revered here? I must be reading the wrong threads. Or is “fangirly” a compliment?

As far as I know, Jim has never posted here that we are being bad fans for posting negative things about Kris/Allison or the media that loves them. He has never told us that we are hurting their careers. He welcomes a lively debate, even if he loves being a fangirly goof himself.

Deleted, I forgot the rule about the chosen ones.

That’s why I get the flames of pimpage screensaver.

I’m sure Lea Michele has been begging for Adam on Glee. She was fangirling about him on the Rachel Ray show today, that she’d love to sing with him.

I heard her say in a past interview that she had met Adam before – they auditioned in the same circles in LA for musical theater.

I would love to have a duet from them also – just another way for Adam to chart a song – and the Glee audience seem to love OTT – I know I do.

I vote yes if anyone is counting ‘Yes to Adam on Glee’ votes.

If it happens I can’t wait to see the ratings for that show…

“Is Anybody Listening?” Apparently, the answer is yes.

I’d like to take this opportunity to post an open letter to Mr. Lambert’s creative team and all of the RCA execs: We want all 29 of the tracks that are rumored to have been recorded so far, and we want them all on a double CD so as not to miss one glorious note.

    Sincerely,

I don’t follow any of them, except for links provided by this site and I am also not the one who stated the original statement which I asked you to clarify, which you did and I’ll take you at your word that indeed Slezak has criticized his favorite and I’m not sure how you know that Jim is just playing at OTT, but being a newbie to this I’ll assume you have some insider’s knowledge. So thanks for answering my question.

  255. waiiit,I’m confuzzled(again).why do ppl have to critisize their favorites?! as long as their not delusionaly trying to say their opinions are completely fair what’s the problem? if you’re looking for a non-biased view, just go somewhere else…

  256. PS on my pop. bar watch: TFM is very close to the 8th place Papparazzi, so if it keeps selling in will reach #8 soon

    Don’t upgrade your iTunes.

I can’t go back to version 8 to get the popularity bars without losing my ratings for all 7800 songs in my iTunes library. That would suck.

  257. Why do they have to. If they have something negative to say, I’m sure they would. Maybe they just don’t, right now.

Maybe Jim, Slezak and Lyndsey are happy with what they’ve heard so far. If RollingStone isn’t fangirly, why assume the others are? I think they are all being fangirly, so I don’t think I’m being inconsistent.

  258. Can someone update me please.. I don’t want to get lost in the Adam postings. Do we know anything about the single yet?

  259. Question here… do the songs in the top ten usually go down one number at at time or could number 7 drop to number 11 all at once? Hope this makes sense, just wondering if Adam has to pass LGG or if someone above her can drop down below Adam and move him up.

Can someone update me please.. I don’t want to get lost in the Adam postings. Do we know anything about the single yet?

    Nope.

  261. I just suck at this stuff, beehiway, but thanks. :)

Sometimes I just get so sick of this guy is fangirly over him but wait, she is much more fangirly over HER…I don’t understand. Who cares, ultimately? Don’t the purveyors of music get to make the choice? I am not going to buy an album b/c Jim, etal recommended I do so. I would suggest that RS wields more power, if you will, b/c they have a greater readership, but AGAIN, it depends on the buyer. I hate the JoBros (not personally, just their music; they seem like good guys). They were on the cover of RS, and the story was somewhat interesting, and I am still not going to buy their music (sorry, JoBros, but you hardly need me, and the same goes for Demi, Miley, and their ilk). I think you might be inclined to *listen* to a track based on a review, but I think about this the same way I do a book, theater, or movie review. It might spur my interest, or not, but I oftentimes go to the theater, see a play, think it was awful, say, and then read this glowing review and think, damn, glad I didn’t go based on x’s opinion (or vice versa).

    It’s all subjective.

Why do I feel like I’m in the midst of writing a Thesis today? ;)

  262. OMG im soo excited for Adam!!! soo awesome that his song is in the top 10! WOOOOO!!!

  263. I think they are all being fangirly,

    ita.but I don’t care.in fact,that’s why I subscribed to rolling stone;)

  264. Question here’ ¦ do the songs in the top ten usually go down one number at at time or could number 7 drop to number 11 all at once?

The top 10 tends to be quite stable and the moves are normally 1 at a time. On new music Tuesday, though, you can see bigger shifts if there are lots of new songs hitting (or if a big album is released…or when the Idol songs become unblocked).

  265. luvadamlambert: hey hoppers? is adam craking the top 10 good enough for you to get out your carpetbag for? lol

    oma album preview bloooooog!!!!!!!!!

Ooooooooooo [rubs hands together with a wicked grin]!

Shall I? Or [lowers voice] should we wait until Top 5?? :wicked:

  266. ita.but I don’t care.in fact,that’s why I subscribed to rolling stone;)

LOL. I agree. Nothing wrong with be fangirly, but it’s fun to tweak them once in a while.

  267. James Montgomery and Jim C. both said some really nice things in the newest TFM related video segment at MTV (Article/Clip Title — Adam Lambert’s ‘Time For Miracles’: A Fiery Video For A Classic Power Ballad). They are inviting feedback.

  268. ITA, anthrogeek, and lol. I want every song, and I will determine whether or not I like it (which is to say I will, so I would like to have the opportunity to feel this way).

And luv, whippersnapper, thanks for being the voice of reason. You don’t need to be old to be wise.

    BTW, hi! *waving*

ETA: So you don’t think I am writing in the guise of someone else:

I think Adam is HOT HOT HOT in the video. The Dickens scarf gets me every time. Along with the gloves. And I can’t stop listening to the song and watching the video. I am officially addicted to both. I am still trying to learn all of the lyrics. As with NoBo, it might take a while. Actually, I don’t think I ever learned all of the lyrics to NoBo, and I even wrote them down! I am sad that way.

  269. Glamzilla! That is really a cool handle. I get a very cool image with it. Wish I would have thought of it.

    Also,

Rolling Stone has TFM as their No 1 Editor’s pick:

    http://www.rollingstone.com/

Slamdunk!!!! (Is that term one word or two?)

I think it is two — but RS #1 Editor’s pick is GLITTERASTIC!

  271. BTW, hi! *waving*

hi!!! seeeee I skipped that part today.I lile to change it up…in major ways…;D

    33 DAYS!!!!! it’s sooo close!!!!

  272. whippersnapper

    lol

btw Kirsten, what did you mean by they un-block idol songs?

  273. Still no QuickCut data for TFM. Soon, hopefully. I keep checking. They’ve got the add board, but it takes them a while to set up the QuickCut.

  274. btw Kirsten, what did you mean by they un-block idol songs?

During the season, for fairness, iTunes blocks current Idols from appearing on the iTunes charts. After the finale, they unblock that and we can suddenly see how well they are doing. That can cause a lot of artists to take sharp drops as there are a lot of new songs with sales history entering the charts.

  275. LOL. I agree. Nothing wrong with be fangirly, but it’s fun to tweak them once in a while.

I do like to tweak and poke fun at my favorites. It keeps it real and keeps me from putting them on too high a pedestal. But I do dial it back here because not everyone can see my smirk and wink over the internet. And sometimes people think I am being serious. And I forget to type the smiley or wink or whatever. I love the internet, nobody knows you’re a frog (ribbit). 8) 8)

  276. Seriously, did anybody expect anything less? They are as fangirly as Slezak, Jim and Lindsey. At least those three sometimes criticize their favourite.

Don’t see the problem here… Slezak and JimC have become such fangirls to the boy that won… at least Slezak for me still has his integrity and treated Adam fairly. Unlike JimC always with his passive/agressive attitude towards Adam. So yeah.. I don’t see the problem…

Kris has Slezak and JimC on his side and Adam has Rolling Stone, Details Magazine, RockStar Weekly and Lyndsey Parker on his side… (don’t know how many more). Just like Slezak towards Adam, Lyndsey’s also nice to other idols. She maybe not be a fan of some of them, but reporting’s still reporting for her…

  277. less than totally enthusiastic about something at some point

    yep.Michelin man.

    thnx Kirsten!!!

    ok,bye peeps!! I’ll b back later….

  278. This man is different – and not just in his sexual proclivities. Like many great artists (in other fields as well) he’s polarizing. And, as another said, he has the confidence of the insanely talented. Blessed with physical beauty and grace, the fact of his also owning a voice of exceptional power is something very new in today’s music scene. And there’s not another singer today who could do equal justice to this difficult song. Anyone who loves great singing realizes how fortunate we are to have him. (His performance of this video in the theater, even if somehow truncated to support the film, will be incredible.) Reminds me of the review of his performance (in LA?) (paraphrased) that a dozen Madonnas kissing a dozen Britney’s outside the venue would not persuade anyone to leave their seats. Different? Definitely.

  279. James Montgomery and Jim C. both said some really nice things in the newest TFM related video segment at MTV (Article/Clip Title ‘” Adam Lambert’s ‘Time For Miracles’: A Fiery Video For A Classic Power Ballad). They are inviting feedback.

    Hrm, I can’t find it…

ETA: LeeTravers, you are *right* on the money.

  280. I just got the best laugh I’ve had all day. Adam’s video is down to 39% on Myspace LMAO… I wonder if they can get it to 1%? That’s hysterical. It’s been viewed over a quarter of a million times in less than 24 hours.

  281. Thanks for the info.. :-( or lack thereof anthro.. sigh.

I like the Video.. Maybe done to quickly.. did’nt seem a smooth as it could have. As for the Song being at #9.. good for Adam or is it good for Sony.. either way it gets them both noticed.

  282. why do ppl have to critisize their favorites?! as long as their not delusionaly trying to say their opinions are completely fair what’s the problem? if you’re looking for a non-biased view, just go somewhere else’ ¦

“ppl” don’t. ppl can say anything they like and they can say it for any reason.

But these people are professional critics/reviewers/columnists, and the hope is that someone who “reviews” music does so objectively, and with a fresh ear each new time around.
IMO Slezak, Cantiello, Parker, Collins- all of them have let their baggage build up to a point that they are blinded. They seem unable to separate their inner fanboy/girl from their professional opinion in the best case scenario, and are agenda driven in the worst.

That makes them a blogger type writer IMO, and worthy of less consideration in many regards. I lose respect.

  283. IMO Slezak, Cantiello, Parker, Collins- all of them have let their baggage build up to a point that they are blinded. They seem unable to separate their inner fanboy/girl from their professional opinion in the best case scenario, and are agenda driven in the worst.

That makes them a blogger IMO, and worthy of less consideration in many regards.

I don’t disagree with you, however, the question is, were they ever anything more than paid bloggers to begin with? I don’t think any of them are actual music critics. They are pop culture bloggers IMO and as such their personal tastes and bias comes into play and when reading their reviews that should be taken into account.

Rolling Stone on the other hand, IS a serious music entity and as far as I know, it’s not the same person writing about Lambert every time although I admit I don’t pay close attention to the byline.

  284. Seriously, did anybody expect anything less? They are as fangirly as Slezak, Jim and Lindsey. At least those three sometimes criticize their favourite.

I’m still looking for the criticism from Jim and Slezak.
(No one made the same claim about RS.) I want to see something after the final that has been negative.
If Rolling Stone only gives positive write ups because thet are fangirly, then the same has to be said about Slezak and Jim. Do Jim and Slezak give Kris positive media because they think he’s cute or is it because they sincerely think he is a gifted artist and appreciate his music?

  285. Hi guys,

Thanks for all the comments. We do appreciate the good and the bad, but please try to keep the bad to something constructive.

Adam fans and haters will continue to amaze me. It’s like the KISS-steria of the 70s all over again. I missed the 70s KISS era, so I’m happy to embrace the Adam era as I might have done with KISS in the 70s.

The guys in Nero Zero will also be happy to know that we’ve been getting some good comments about their Super Freak version too, so we’ll pass that along to them.

I also wanted to add that “GlamStar Weekly” is actually kind of a cute slam. But, we’ll keep that just between you and me :p

    Great review!!!!!

    Damn I love this review!!!

James Montgomery’s – the MTV Rock and Music Vid editor – and Jim C’s take on the vid and song:

1- Adam’s voice is better that stephen Tyler’s

2- He should off some good range and acting chops , it’s impressive

3- The song is a better rock ballad than “I won’t miss a thing”. It sticks in the head more.

    3- It’s a better ballad than Rihanna’s new single (also a ballad)

4- The song could be rocking VH1’s top 20 for months and months

5-People will see Adam and say “WOW! This Guy is impressive”

    .

This is a definitely SQUEE worthy review.

So if you’ll all excuse me … SQUEEEEEEEEE

    Black Swan!!!

  288. That’s why I get the flames of pimpage screensaver.

Well that just pisses me off. I’m going to need to speak with MJ about this. I expect at the very least a fog machine and some back up dancers, and I damn well better get it.

    Great review!!!!!

I was thinking of James Montgomery, of the James Montgomery Band, but I guess not. ;)

I like what he had to say and I completely agree (and I know not everyone does). I think the video works on a number of levels, not just b/c Adam has the most glorious voice of all-time. Okay, well, a little hyperbole never hurt anyone. ;) It’s nice to see that it’s from an MTV music editor–no fangirling/guying at all. Sometimes it’s refreshing to read something that’s objective and complementary about a favorite artist. That said, if he hadn’t liked the video, I still would. But maybe he’ll have a few more people checking it out, which is what *objective* reviewers do.

This myspace situation is sort of absurd…

So, er, Sunn, what did you really think about Montgomery’s review?
    *hugs*

  290. James Montgomery’s ‘“ the MTV Rock and Music Vid editor ‘“ and Jim C’s take on the vid and song:

Oh my heck. Now the Rock Editor for MTV is going to be attacked for hyperbole from inside the Idol bubble. Imagine the audacity to compare Mr. Lambert favorably to Mr. Tyler.

  291. was thinking of James Montgomery, of the James Montgomery Band, but I guess not.

    He probably likes it, too.

  292. I just realized that next week is the last one for October and NO NEWS about Adam’s single?! You know the team will make recommendations but, imo, Adam will make the final decision.

You know, or maybe you don’t know, regarding his astrological chart, he has about 4 placements in the sign of Libra. Some Librans have been known to have a really hard time making important decisions at times, wanting to constantly weigh things back and forth.

(full disclosure: Libra here, don’t see it in myself but has been noted by family members)

  293. Mr, Montgomery must be called out and flogged immediately. hwc, get to work.

ETA: Pop 8?! Sweetness. Slow and steady, TfM, slow and steady…

Thanks, Dan. So what time should I be there on Monday morning to begin my new position as Web Copysnarker? I won’t make outrageous salary demands if my compensation includes exclusive interviews with Mr. Lambert. Oh, and did I mention I was a photographer? Yep, you can just fire half your staff as soon as I’m on board.

Man, I’m exhausted right now… sucking up while furiously backpedaling takes a toll on a body.

  297. Man, I’m exhausted right now’ ¦ sucking up while furiously backpedaling takes a toll on a body.

ETA: Pop 8?! Sweetness. Slow and steady, TfM, slow and steady’ ¦

Remember the days when people did not even know the rankings of songs until after a week or more on sale?

We really have moved into the micro age when tracking things like a charted single over hours is considered slow and steady – all w/love SueBrody – it just struck me as one way we really are INSTANT these days!

believe you me, I’ll take instant anything where Adam is concerned – :-)

  299. Adam fans and haters will continue to amaze me. It’s like the KISS-steria of the 70s all over again. I missed the 70s KISS era, so I’m happy to embrace the Adam era as I might have done with KISS in the 70s.

Hi Dan! Thanks for giving us some great articles!

If this reminds you of the KISS era, I think we might have to start calling ourselves the Glam Army. :)

  300. Top 10 is good enough for me for such a mediocre song. I am a bit surprised, but not really. I dont think it goes any higher than that.

I hope his real first single does better.

  301. Yeah, Anthrogeek, but you do it convincingly. I always thought that being an Adam fan required some stamina and goes beyond ‘spectator sport.’

Indeed, as you all know, I’ve made it abundantly clear that I stand (lie, recline, whatever is his preference) ready and willing to be a full participant in an enthographic evaluation of all things Adam… purely in the name of scientific research, you understand.

  302. Some Librans have been known to have a really hard time making important decisions at times, wanting to constantly weigh things back and forth.

LOL. I’m married to the most indecisive Libra on the planet. And, the 2nd most indecisive Libra is my best friend. I spend my life making decision that those around me seem incapable of.

    From The Jeffersons:

Well, I’m not sure if it fits or not, but it is the greatest TV theme song of all time.

  306. GeminiDolly

Top 10 is good enough for me for such a mediocre song. I am a bit surprised, but not really. I dont think it goes any higher than that.
I hope his real first single does better.

I agree, mostly. I do think TFM will go a little higher.

Can you imagine if TFM is getting all this love and sales what Adam’s first dance/elec single will get. I don’t think we’ve seen OTT reviews and fangirly statements that will come close to what we’ll hear when that happens.
If the reaction to TFM is moderate, kind even because we keep hearing it is better w/video – good song for a disaster film – Adams sings it quite well, can you imagine the reaction to a real Adam single!
I just squee thinking about it – again I can’t wait to see what happens!

  307. Cindy a few pages back I posted directions for the popularity bars, did it work for you?

  308. I knew I shouldn’t have left the house! Damn RL!

    #9??????????????WOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Watch Out Gaga- he’s comin to getcha!

Seriously, if he beat BEP, he should have no problem with Gaga, but then after that it’s all the new songs, so it might be too tough to penetrate that top 7.
Never say never though- not when it comes to Adam Lambert.

  309. Maybe its like LLWD, terrific reviews and dismal sales/public reception’ ¦ how is TFM going saleswise? lol

It seems to be doing okay in sales. It’s #9 on itunes. Maybe they hate the video but not the song?

I hate that I downloaded the new itunes version BOO you whore!! because I can’t get the popularity bars to show. My “view options” choice is greyed out and not even available.

  310. Nope, I tried beehiway :(.

I have itunes installed on my computer too, but I can’t find it on the itunes application either.

  316. It seems to be doing okay in sales. It’s #9 on itunes. Maybe they hate the video but not the song?

Rattleandhum, it’s one of those fanwar games as old as time. (Or at least, as old as Idol and Idol polls and rankings.) I guess Adam’s fans have too busy squeeing over him being #1 on Amazon and #9 on iTunes to stage a defense. But, I’m probably speaking too soon. By morning, it will have 2 million views with the rating reachig 95% at 3 a.m, then dropping back to 3% by noon tomorrow. And so it will go.

  317. “I missed the 70s KISS era, so I’m happy to embrace the Adam era as I might have done with KISS in the 70s.”

Well now….”THE ADAM ERA” does he say? That has a real nice ‘sound’ to it to me!!

I loved the Michelle Collins article and her “Adam Lambert-Planet Fierce Uprising-Muse” video. She’s loved Adam ever since her first interrview with him right after AI was over. She brings so much fun and wit to her articles.

Time For Miracles video was amazing!! And I’m so happy the song is making such a good showing on itunes and Amazon.

Thanks for all the information and updates everyone posts!

HA.. They need to get in line… the guys in DDD already put Adam in #2 for Best Technical Rock Singer… forgot what’s Stephen Tyler rank on their list

  319. CindyM, I can’t get the popularity bars to work either. It must be the iTunes edition we have or something. *sad face*

How close is TfM to Papparazzi as far as the bars go?

  320. @rockstarweekly
The world of music is pretty vast, and by pigeonholing a singer as capable as Adam as just glam is probably not what Adam would want. Adam is glam, pop, dance, theatre and rock all rolled up into one unique artist.

Thanks for your comments. There are many of us that would love to get a little pure rock from Adam but we are expecting something more outer space glam. One thing we have learned, nobody puts Adam in a box. LOL (Big Queen fan here, thought TfM was a bit Queenesque and would love to have more of that from Adam. Not expecting it this time around though.

Dan, we have a group of posters/commenters that could qualify as having mensa level intellisnark. Most of us know and love the dry wit; we recognize it for what it is and ROFL while reading. The poster you commented on was one of our best and most beloved and I believe what she said was most definitely tongue-in-cheek. It’s all good.

  321. myspace says it is ‘looking into’ the ratings situation and why it fell from 90pc to 30ish very quickly.

That is easy to surmise. It has attracted every Adam hater and troll that surf the internet. I’m not sure why that is so surprising.

Thanks beehiway, et al. I tried for an hour; got all the way to the Top Songs list on itunes, even got the songs to load, and then, and then…the “View Options” grayed out and I could not finish. Failing at Flailing.

  324. myspace says it is ‘looking into’ the ratings situation and why it fell from 90pc to 30ish very quickly.

That is easy to surmise. It has attracted every Adam hater and troll that surf the internet. I’m not sure why that is so surprising.

But isn’t it funny that it has over a 1/4 million views in less than 24 hours! There’s no way the trolls can play with that figure! :)

  325. I just got the best laugh I’ve had all day. Adam’s video is down to 39% on Myspace LMAO’ ¦ I wonder if they can get it to 1%? That’s hysterical. It’s been viewed over a quarter of a million times in less than 24 hours.

And it dropped 4 percentage points within 10 minutes after you posted this. Sounds like its been hacked. Wouldn’t it be funny if someone managed to set it so that every “thumbs up” click was registered as 100 thumbs down clicks? (Well, not FUNNY funny. But, weird funny. All these people desperately trying to reverse the tread, only to be adding to it.)

  326. Steven Tyler of Aerosmith was only #70 long before they heard of Adam. Freddie Mercury was #1 on the old list. On the new list Freddie is #3 and yes Adam is #2.

  327. I’m in love with Miracles. I started out meh on the song, but loving Adam’s vocals and meh on the vid. Went to loving the song except for the middle because it’s waaay to long and I’d get bored and walk away until I’d start to hear the crescendo at which point I’d come back in the room. And then I was meh on the vid because of quality and the building top pieces. But I love the shortened version of the song in the vid so I played and watched it a few times and each time found myself riveted watching Adam do his thang. I’m now officially a fan of both the vid and the song as it appears on the vid. Guess I’ll be buying it when it comes out so I can get the shortened version of the song.

CindyM, I can’t get the popularity bars to work either. It must be the iTunes edition we have or something. *sad face*

I’m joining the techno loser club as well…. :(

So… Adam “tops” Freddy, albeit posthumously. Sadly, my quota of “top” jokes has run out along with my supply of exclamation points.

I’m joining the techno loser club as well’ ¦.

I still can’t see them together, but when I clicked on TFM on the singles chart and the page opens for reviews? The popularity bars are showing. I counted..TFM = 12 Paparazzi = 13.

  331. I love this song and I love the video. Adam is fantastic in it. I also don’t care what David Cook and David Archuletta did on Itunes last year. Adam is not competing against them. He is a totally different kind of artist then either of them. All I know, is that Adam’s fans got this song and video to number 9 on Itunes, number 1 on Amazon and charts all around the world. Even a few radio stations (in Canada yeah) are playing the song. I am proud of us. I am sure that Adam is estatic. I refuse to fall into the negativity. I know that Adam will be a star. He is too charismatic to not be one. So instead of listening to the naysayers I hope all of Adam’s fans do the same thing as I am going to do. I am going to give myself a pat on the back :) and tomorrow which is another day, concentrate on moving this wonderful song up another notch on Itunes.

  332. I’m now officially a fan of both the vid and the song as it appears on the vid

Ah, jms, and the converted are always the most loyal. LOL

Hi, Mainegal. You don’t have to duck and cover for a couple of days. There is a grace period.

I’m sorry I replayed the “grayed out” comment…didn’t catch it until after I posted. (But it’s another excuse to hang out–like I need one.)

  333. Brought this over from IDF- iTunes rankings from other countries.

    (Be kind ‘“ I’m new)

Welcome to the thread, blog, world, experience, life…
    ;-)

  335. Mainegal, Welcome!!!!

    I love that- “Stormwatchers”, lol!

Mandalay- oooh, I like Stormchasers too!

Oh wow- people are still spamming polls? Some thing never change ;)

  336. Indeed, as you all know, I’ve made it abundantly clear that I stand (lie, recline, whatever is his preference) ready and willing to be a full participant in an enthographic evaluation of all things Adam’ ¦ purely in the name of scientific research, you understand.

Dang you anthropologists. You get all the fun stuff. With a degree in soils I guess all I can do is worship the ground he walks on.

  337. Adam on Extra? No way, Jose! I taped it last night by mistake but not tonight. *sigh* I did, however, find ET (it replays…didn’t know about Extra), so I will await linkage to Extra and maybe it will replay, too.

Srsly, the Adam Storm is giving me a FIERCE headache in the best possible way. Wait till Adam’s *real* 1st single comes out (and mind you, I am a big TfM fan).

    *thud*

*off to watch TfM for, and I kid you not, the 20th time today*

ETA: Hi, Mainegirl! I’m from Boston! And I still don’t know what ETA means. I just enjoy using it. :)

  338. Dang you anthropologists. You get all the fun stuff. With a degree in soils I guess all I can do is worship the ground he walks on.

Soils, eh?? Does that you mean you lay claim to expertise on Dirty Adam?? See, it does have some benefits! Maybe we could get you to weigh in on whether sediments or atmospheric dust make the best sootface.

  339. Well, you’re quite welcome. I appreciate your ability to give one the benefit of the doubt’“to take information at face value. And just for the record, Adam may not be my cuppa, but that doesn’t render every one of my posts ‘troll-worthy.’ Nor does it mean that I can’t somehow contribute to the discussion from time to time. Thanks for your open-mindedness and general curiousity.

Who are you and what did you do to carolinacharms?

  340. @SpenserJ And I bet they won’t admit it will they?

    True that :)

Rattleandhum, it’s one of those fanwar games as old as time. (Or at least, as old as Idol and Idol polls and rankings.)

Ah, the old poll-spam game. Someone should check to see what the Claymates have been up to. No one spams a poll better than they do.

On the new list Freddie is #3 and yes Adam is #2.

Freddie’s 3? Who the hell is number one then?

  341. I counted..TFM = 12 Paparazzi = 13.

Cindy I cracked up at this. I could see you hunched over your screen counting the little bars…

The scary thing is I can totally relate.

I still love the long download version of TFM the best… although I can see why others prefer the shortened video version. I will play both– with pleasure– and look forward
to the gifts Adam will unwrap for us in the years to come.

    Number 9– feels like Christmas!!

  342. Dead doesn’t seem to matter. Jackie Wilson is #1 and he’s been gone since 1984. If I’ve got the right singer, he was in a coma for 8 years before he passed. I’ve spent way too much time visiting the DDD boys while waiting for new Adam goodies. Freddie Mercury of Queen who died of aids.

  343. Also, what about Lipstick Economics’“ in tough times, don’t folks spend more on cheap entertainment like a $1.29 song, and less of luxuries or bigger ticket items?

Yes, when “cutting back” people do treat themselves with little “luxuries.” But not when they’re unemployed or their house just got foreclosed. Then they “treat” themselves to food and shelter. 20% real unemployment is devastating. It’s grim out there. 20% of the population basically can’t purchase beyond the basics. And too many of them can’t even afford that.

People who can, allocate their little treat for whatever they like most. Could be chocolate. Or organic fruit. Doesn’t have to be music. And even if music involved, it still saves for every artist whose album you might buy to wait. Not buy the video, not buy the single, just wait a month and check out the album. It’s the holidays. You might make the album your not so expensive recession holiday gift request.

That’s why it’s so encouraging to see so many people have Adam Lambert as a priority. Either they can afford it, or he’s worth the “treat”.

  344. But isn’t it funny that it has over a 1/4 million views in less than 24 hours! There’s no way the trolls can play with that figure!

Don’t those who rate it low contribute to the views? It’s kind of funny that in their effort to spam the ratings they are inadvertantly bumping up the views which will ultimately push this song up the charts on myspace hot videos. Irony…

Ah, the old poll-spam game. Someone should check to see what the Claymates have been up to. No one spams a poll better than they do.

Adam isn’t even from Clay’s season, why would they care about his video?

At what point during the week, in the event that Adam stays in the top 10 (or 20) does it stop being his core fanbase buying TFM and start being regular music fans who have heard the song and like it?

  345. They have Jackie Wilson?! as #1….Did they give a reason for this?!

  346. I still can’t see them together, but when I clicked on TFM on the singles chart and the page opens for reviews? The popularity bars are showing.

On this page there is bar under the apple. House/music/pop/Adam Lambert/Time for miracles

Click on Music, takes you to a colorful page with several boxed categories. Click on the link for TOP SONGS at the top of the top ten songs list.

You are at the list of top songs page. From here click on View menu at top left. View Options should not be grayed out. if it is click once on a song then go back.

Anyway, thought I would try one more time.

Cindy how did you get a bar count? I did not know about that.

  347. Don’t those who rate it low contribute to the views? It’s kind of funny that in their effort to spam the ratings they are inadvertantly bumping up the views which will ultimately push this song up the charts on myspace hot videos. Irony’ ¦

It’s very funny. Speaks to the mental capacity of trolls, huh?!

Me, too! Mostly when I am hunched over a menu. 19 is lucky I am not the person in charge of choosing the single off the album.

  349. Not to be the negative voice, but depending on what the first single turns out to be and when it is debuted, TfM may actually have a better initial reaction and showing. (Blasphemy!) My theory has more to do with what a few others have pointed out here, which is that Adam’s personal style is to push boundaries and be creative. Those efforts don’t always result in universal (commercial) appeal, much less appreciation. A “classic” rock, feel good ballad nearly always does, because it’s, er, classic and, uh, makes you feel good… and it’s safe… The timing bothers me a tad too, in a market saturation sort of way. Personally, I can’t get enough, but I’m pretty sure I’m not representative of the masses, generally speaking.

These concerns merely represent my thoughts, not my feelings. I “feel” that Adam’s music will be fantastic and widely well-received. Whether folks will immediately embrace a “new sound” is yet to be seen, but I do believe he will be warmly embraced at some point.

Right now, I’m just thrilled with the storm, that TfM is seeing some initial commercial success, and the video (not to mention Adam) has been well-received (by what we’ve heard from the industry) so far.

  350. Will have to catch up later ppl. Thank you in advance for any and all links!

  351. Kristen-The top 10 tends to be quite stable and the moves are normally 1 at a time. On new music Tuesday, though, you can see bigger shifts if there are lots of new songs hitting (or if a big album is released’ ¦or when the Idol songs become unblocked).

Hi Kristen…I just blockquoted your remark to get your attention…did you ever post or were able to find out about the radio play adds for Time for Miracles? Or can you point me to where I can find that info myself. Thank you…. :-)

  352. Yes, anthro I do lay claim on dirty, sweaty, and even smelly Adam. Off to my cold shower now.

  353. They have Jackie Wilson?! as #1′ ¦.Did they give a reason for this?!

Oh yeah, the debate goes on for more than a hundred pages and it is DETAILED. They break every singer down by about eight or 10 aspects of “technique” (as that is what they are analyzing on that list) and then they do side by side comparisons of the artists ‘“ linking to specific YouTube performances to illustrate their point. They even break down exactly what notes were hit and how long they were held.

    It is a fascinating read.

  354. Fast answer has to do with things like pitch, breathe control, improvisation, live performances, range, etc. They spend weeks, even months arguing. You can’t just declare someone best you have to prove it. Sometimes they take it note by note. Freddie seemed have problems with live performances. Adam doesn’t have that problem. I’m no expert and this is over simplified.

  355. Please keep information forthcoming, whilst I go home and watch Glee (and SYTYCD). Will check in later. Need figures, ppl. Cannot do this on my own.

    #8 FTW!

  356. “They have Jackie Wilson?! as #1′ ¦.Did they give a reason for this?!”

ITA Bowie1 – –is it the “range” factor? I know that JW also had an incredble range and control. (But older playbacks are a little harder to eval.)

  357. did you ever post or were able to find out about the radio play adds for Time for Miracles?

They still don’t have it up yet. I seem to recall that it was about this time that it became available.

myspace says it is ‘looking into’ the ratings situation and why it fell from 90pc to 30ish very quickly.

That is easy to surmise. It has attracted every Adam hater and troll that surf the internet. I’m not sure why that is so surprising.

And the fact that you can multiple vote for the same video by just refreshing the page. My theory is that it’s some concerted efforted by some group of haters to bring down the ratings.

  359. beside of the Adam and clay “drama”.mayyybe claymates are bitter? lol

sooo I told my mom Adam was #9 because last night when I told her he was #11 ,she said” so he didn’t make the top 10″.she makes fun of my Adam obsession(what she knows of it .heh) a lot. so when I told her he was #9 she said “I bet he’ll make it to nver 2 and then stop”.I got mad and gave her a “look”.lol

    FYI,two’s my
new favorite number.for obvious reasons.I just remember first is the worst (not true),second is the best (duh!!!) and third is the one with the hairy chest!!!!(way tmi on gokey) lol seeeee rhymes you learn when you’re 5 actually make sense!!!!

  360. POPULARITY BARS ON ITUNES TOP 100 – go to “view” (upper left hand corner) scroll down to “options” then click the box that says “popularity”.

  361. The DDD boys call Jackie Wilson “Mr. Excitement” and are crazy about his live performances. Yes, he has incredible range and great albums. They have 22 pages devoted to him.

  362. Thanks Susan M. and 4Msrmyn for the information. I didn’t realize it was that INVOLVED!! I’ll have to go visit the website.

I just remember Jackie Wilson from the Motown era but not having the powerful voice of a Freddie or Adam.

Thanks Mainegal, also. I can’t post as quick as all of you and saw your post after I posted!

  363. Adam isn’t even from Clay’s season, why would they care about his video?

If you even doubt it, go take a look at this. Make sure you read the comments- they have a HUGE grudge against Adam- they are NUTS! As soon as I read here that someone was spamming the poll I thought of them:

  364. POPULARITY BARS ON ITUNES TOP 100 ‘“ go to ‘view’ (upper left hand corner) scroll down to ‘options’ then click the box that says ‘popularity’ .

So sadly true, FifthHouseSun. And I’m sure one of the first things to go is internet access, which is not in the basic food groups for the unemployed.

  366. POPULARITY BARS ON ITUNES TOP 100 ‘“ go to ‘view’ (upper left hand corner) scroll down to ‘options’ then click the box that says ‘popularity’ .

must be different on a MAC I don’t have that option.

  367. The Advocate has chimed in on the TFM video. I’m bolding a quote because it could be the reason TFM has been included on Adam’s record as a bonus track.

Lambert hits the high notes with gusto and wails as bridges and buildings crumble and cars explode behind him. The song, according to industry analysts, is a strong contender for a Best Original Song nomination at next year’s Academy Awards.

    http://www.advocate.com/News/Daily_News/2009/10/21/Adam_Lambert_Channels_Aerosmith_Celine/

  368. In fairness, Adam’s thread is 40 pages long. However, that started out as “Small Topics”. In February they discovered Adam. They spent so much time arguing over him they changed the name to “Small Topics/Adam Lambert”. Just because he’s #2 doesn’t mean they all even like him. The DDD boys seem to be extraordinarily fair.

  369. The song, according to industry analysts, is a strong contender for a Best Original Song nomination at next year’s Academy Awards.

    Mischa!!!!!!

What???? Okay where are are the usual suspects when you want them??????

POPULARITY BARS ON ITUNES TOP 100 ‘“ go to ‘view’ (upper left hand corner) scroll down to ‘options’ then click the box that says ‘popularity’ .

I’ve upgraded to I-Tunes 9 and I can’t get popularity bars for the top songs. As someone else has said, the View Options are grayed out and not available. (And it doesn’t work to try to click on a song in the list.) If you pull up someone’s albums, then the bars are there for the individual songs in the album. :)

Maybe I’m missing an update to my program. I’ll check.

  372. Wow, Lyndsey sure loved the songs she heard. And I guess we know where the album title came from now. These songs sound great. Wonder if the 4th song she couldn’t write about yet will be his first single. Can’t wait to hear them too!

And LOL at her Adam Lambert + Justin Hawkins rant.

  373. Also ‘“ when you do this make sure you are on the Top 100 page.

How do you get to the top 100 pg? All I’ve ever done on iTunes is purchase.

  374. Holy freakin’ shiz, batman. Lyndsey’s review of those three songs has my fingers trembling so much I can barely type out this comment. THIS is the Adam Lambert I want to hear. As much as I love Time for Miracles, I want the Glam Baby. Bring it!!

  375. No, I didn’t get an update. By the way, I-Tunes 9 let’s you see the top 200 songs, heh, but still no popularity bars.

  376. If you even doubt it, go take a look at this. Make sure you read thecomments- they have a HUGE grudge against Adam- they are NUTS! As soon as I read here that someone was spamming the poll I thought of them:

Oh my gosh, Studio! I heard rumors there was a blog out there with a name that sounds too close to this one. Those people enjoy a good glass of HaterAde with their Delusion Sandwich, don’t they? So, they build up Clay by tearing down everyone else? Is that about right? I wonder if people have ever confused that blog with the REAL MJ’s, because yikes!

And, um.. yeah. After reading those awful comments, they do sound fired up and ready to spam. Oh well. *sigh*

Lyndsey Parker review of three new songs

Just as I was beginning to relax and just enjoy the buzz, Lindsey Parker comes along and amps up the anticipation. I want the album NOW!!!!!!!! I want to hear this “Music Again”. I will risk having brain matter spewed across the room.

I guess we were just in the eye of the Adam storm. Part two is whirling away and here it comes. Hunker down.

  378. OMG…I can’t wait for this album!!!

This part excited me the most: …except for the fact that that voice is unmistakable, of course.

  379. Lambert hits the high notes with gusto and wails as bridges and buildings crumble and cars explode behind him. The song, according to industry analysts, is a strong contender for a Best Original Song nomination at next year’s Academy Awards.

please please please, I want to see him sing this on the Oscars

  380. The Lyndsey Parker review…..OMG!!!!I don’t say that very often but….OMG…I am so wanting Adam’s album right now!!!!!!!

  381. OMG that Lyndsey Parker preview…!!!!! :-) Now, I know she’s a fan, but OMG, that is excited writing there. LOL

OK, maybe I’ll dial back my concerned thinking a notch now that someone with a base of musical knowledge has previewed some tracks. Even if she is a fan. Wow, just wow. I hope it lives up to the preview, for me… I hate getting my hopes up…

Who’s kidding who, I’m EXCITED for an album debut!!!

  382. Awwww…..

    [hugs Carolinacharms and Glamzilla]

Friends? [laughs] Or at least better?

    [pulls out lollipop bucket]

I don’t think either of you were around during the tour threads, but I gave out a lot of virtual lollipops back then when the thread got heated.

[hands Carolinacharms and Glamzilla thier lollies]

Let me know what your favorite flavors are and I’ll keep them on hand. ;-)

ETA: Oh and Alison, I’m getting the feeling I should have been around to hand you a green apple lolly last night (?) when you were apparently inducing some angst! [laugh] Do I have to find your old sit-in-the-corner-time-out chair from the tour as well??

Unfortunately, I missed the fun. Sick toddlers need Mommy even more than Mommy needs Adam news!! However, now that small children are in their cribs I get to catch up. This is going to be fun. Yay, Adam cracked the Top 10!!

  383. myspace says it is ‘looking into’ the ratings situation and why it fell from 90pc to 30ish very quickly.

That is easy to surmise. It has attracted every Adam hater and troll that surf the internet. I’m not sure why that is so surprising.

LMFAO….too funny..gonna go look up who Jackie Wilson is

  384. Adam isn’t even from Clay’s season, why would they care about his video?

I was just kind of joking about their reputation. I had no idea that Studio57 would actually find evidence LOL. I had forgotten about that psycho Claymates wannabe blog.

Oh, and on that list, I’m not going to argue with Jackie Wilson at number one. I sort of worship Jackie. That’s interesting – so thanks for the info guys.

  385. I justï »’ keep watching this video… I may be headed to rehab…HELP ME!!!
some things are justï »’ out of our control…all the panties and bras thrown on stage during his tour… need I say more…LOL #9 9 9 9 YES!!!

  386. Just got home from work. So excited to see Adam’s name on my ITUNES homepage chart!!!

Regarding the ratings from the myspace video and bashing….this is why some non-Idol watchers make fun of, and refuse to acknowledge the show exists (raises hand, that was me before Adam)…too many crazies, viewers turning a singing contest into a popularity contest, and people building up the contestants as the next great thing only to dump them when a new season starts (which leaves the non-Idol bubble snickering with “I told you so”). While I think Adam IS the next great thing, I wouldn’t turn to cutting down other contestants to try to build him up. If Adam does turn out to be a superstar, then if anything, he gives Idol credibility that maybe it didn’t have before. (JMO) I just know that no matter what the future holds, to quote Paula, I will be a fan for life.

I don’t care if Archie sold more in day one, first week, ever. I don’t care that Clay has some fanatical fans. I just thank God Adam tried out. Me thanking Idol, who would’ve thunk it? All I know is we have new Adam music and a new Adam video!!!!!!!!!! YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

  387. yeahhh Lyndsey because I’m not excited enough already.

    SQueeeeeeeeee a-maaaa-zing!!!!!!!!!!!

i think this means it’s not shit

and,did ya notice,Lyndsey shares my plans for Adam world domination!!!!!!

  388. He is here For Your Entertainment – I’m so sold on this title now.

  389. OMG, I come home from work- find my VERY OWN COPY Of Details and geez, the scans do NO justice to the beauty of these photos!!!! I am drooling..

And, Lyndsey Parker reviews like that SQUEEEEEE!!!

  390. Flail! She loved it! She went nuts for it, and the descriptions were incredible. Oh, cant wait!!! and what is the secret song? The single? A surprise? A bombastic unknown colab (like with elton john)?

  391. and,did ya notice,Lyndsey shares my plans for Adam world domination!!!!!!

I was hoping you would notice that luv! ;)

  392. OMG!!! My heart was racing reading Lyndsey’s review. She was seriously going out of her mind. How she ever managed to type and actually edit it, I have no idea.

    SQUEEEEE!!! It’s sounds WILD.

  393. I’m going to try to sit through sytycd and will comment when mj puts up a thread about this…

  394. Love Lyndsey!! Of course I expect the normal “she’s fangirling” to start now. But I dont’ care! SQUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEE

  395. mischa: The Advocate has chimed in on the TFM video….”The song, according to industry analysts, is a strong contender for a Best Original Song nomination at next year’s Academy Awards” (link).

Mischa, I thought the Advocate had as much cred as the Examiner (i.e. anyone could chime in – not part of an actual periodical, etc). Is there a secondary source to confirm this??? [crosses fingers]

  396. Why is Lyndsay keeping the 4th song a secret, think maybe that’s the first single?

  397. that other mj blog seems very nasty. I could see people being confused if they find it thinking it’s this site that’s for sure.

The preview of songs by Ms. Parker was both hysterical and encouraging. I hope it’s not all hyberpole although she seems to have really decent taste in music so that gives me hope.

  398. A giant whitechocolatespaceegg??? WTF??!!!

    [laughs]

I think Lindsey liked the songs…..

So, where is Slezak and jambajim when you need them? I wanna hear some FLAILING!!!

  399. OMFG! I just read Lyndsey Parkers preview of the three Adam songs and I am literally shaking.

It sounds like everything that I hoped — dreamed — didn’t dare to imagine it would be!

And “Music Again” written by Justin Hawkins with lead guitar by Justin Hawkins and Adam’s voice — please let this be the single — and pleaaaaaaase release it now!

  400. My heart was racing reading Lyndsey’s review. I can’t even imagine what I’ll feel like when I actually hear these songs. Honestly, I’m going to have to brace myself for the first listen if a description of a song makes me feel like this. Damn.

mischa: The Advocate has chimed in on the TFM video’ ¦.’ The song, according to industry analysts, is a strong contender for a Best Original Song nomination at next year’s Academy Awards’ (link).

Mischa, I thought the Advocate had as much cred as the Examiner (i.e. anyone could chime in ‘“ not part of an actual periodical, etc). Is there a secondary source to confirm this??? [crosses fingers]

HSM, the Advocate is a legitimate media source. It’s a primarily gay/lesbian oriented publication. I think you’re thinking of Associated Content, maybe??

    http://www.advocate.com/

  402. I wonder why she got to hear 7 songs from Kris but only 3 for Adam? But still, Im excited of her description. So far its everything I wished Adams album would sound like.

  403. Even if you give a discount on what Lindsay said, we still have good songs ahead of us.

  404. I was just going to post to HSM that the Advocate is a well-known GLBT print publication, with an online presence as well. I see CindyM has beaten me to it! Yes, HSM might be thinking of Associated Content. The Advocate has been around a long time and is quite reputable.

  405. I just went to YT to listen to some Justin Hawkins. Wow, the music is totally insane but not sure if I like so much falsetto in a song. Remain open minded here. I like some falsetto, but not like total… jmho :)

OMFG! I just read Lyndsey Parkers preview of the three Adam songs and I am literally shaking.

It sounds like everything that I hoped ‘” dreamed ‘” didn’t dare to imagine it would be!

I know, it seems crazy that it could be that good and that glam! Please release a single SOON Adam, we’re dyin’ out here!

  407. i think this means it’s not shit

Luv – between this and the rhyme – you are my favorite 12 yr old! I hope my daughter is as witty as you when she turns 12.

  408. i think this means it’s not shit

Luv – between this and the rhyme – you are my favorite 12 yr old! I hope my daughter is as witty as you when she turns 12.

  409. The fact that she neglected to mention any current bands yet was so uncontrollably excited and said it was nothing like TFM gives me hope that this is a new type of sound. *crosses fingers*

but then again we are talking about L Parker here.

    Oh bloody hell……………….

    SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

  410. that other mj blog seems very nasty. I could see people being confused if they find it thinking it’s this site that’s for sure.

The preview of songs by Ms. Parker was both hysterical and encouraging. I hope it’s not all hyberpole although she seems to have really decent taste in music so that gives me hope.

There is no seeming about it……it is a VERY nasty place full of nasty people who have no love for Adam and worship at the feet of Clay.

Lyndsey’s review sounds exciting but I always wait to judge for myself since personal choice in music can be very subjective.

Now if I only knew who Justin Hawkins is ……..

  411. anthrogeek: Man, I’m exhausted right now’ ¦ sucking up while furiously backpedaling takes a toll on a body.

[busts a gut laughing] Did I ever tell you how much I flove you?!

  412. Where does it say Lyndsay is keeping the 4th song secret? I didn’t see that in the review, did I miss it?

  413. I know, it seems crazy that it could be that good and that glam! Please release a single SOON Adam, we’re dyin’ out here!

It does seem almost too good to be true.

I love all the fangirling but I kind of wish Ms. Parker had dialed it back just a bit because that sets a very high expectation. Esp the “reinventing the pop wheel” comment.

Now if I only knew who Justin Hawkins is ‘ ¦’ ¦..

oh Thank GOD.. I thought i must be completely out of touch because I’ve never heard of him or the darkness.

  414. fifthhousesun WOW thanks for the link. He an amazing guitarist and yes, very theatrical. Someone, somewhere, said that these pro’s seem to be seeking out Adam. This is looking pretty accurate. Justin Hawkins, LGG, wonder who else???? can’t wait for the release.

  415. nvm- rowenaine beat me to it.

I thought the Darkness’ IBIATCL was fun and campy. I just don’t know what i think of a collabo.

I’m scared. someone hold me ;)

  416. Fluttering heart and shaking hands. So much joy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  417. Yeah who is Justin Hawkins? I thought I was the only one who wouldn’t know. The song sound good thou, even if I didn’t understand half of what she was saying.

  418. Just a guess, but maybe they only previewed three songs because they are trying to figure out which of the three to name the title song? They narrowed their choices to three and looking for feedback because they can’t decide? I have had a ton of faith in what Adam has been saying about the CD and it seems it has been justified…..can’t freakin wait! Remember, what he said to Simon during the auditions….” I can”.

  419. mischa: The Advocate has chimed in on the TFM video’ ¦.’ The song, according to industry analysts, is a strong contender for a Best Original Song nomination at next year’s Academy Awards’

Since a lot of the Academy voters subscribe to the Advocate, I just it’s a great bet that the Advocate has sources for this.

  420. I know this is an Adam topic but she also said very nice things about Kris’s CD on her review about him.

So, do we expect other music outlets to get previews also?

  421. FifthHouseSun

Okay, Hawkins wardrobe is theatrical enough.

And he can actually play guitar it seems.

Hawkins is regarded as one of the best rock guitarists ever. And a great match for Adam’s voice.

  422. I wonder if it’s the single and that’s why she can’t talk about it. Or made someone very famous well be on the song with him. They seem to be pulling out everything they can to make this album as great as it can be. What is Adam now on i-tunes is it still 9.

  423. clearone, here is a video of The Darkness ‘I Believe in a Thing Called Love’ which Lyndsey references in her blog. That’s Justin Hawkins’ ¦.and as Adam might say, that’s siiiiiick!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRYNYb30nxU

Thanks for the link. The guitar playing is awesome but Justin is definitely out there! Prays that Adam doesn’t go too far down that road…….

  424. so one pop-rock-ready-for-remix song, one dance-rock song, one glam-rock-falsetto-darkness song. the million dollar question is: any of them radio-friendly?

  425. Thanks Squirrely. I can’t wait for this music, but, the anticipation is pretty fun.

  426. Ok, listened to more Hawkins. He is about the best guitarist I have EVER heard. Absolutely amazing.

  427. CindyM: HSM, the Advocate is a legitimate media source. It’s a primarily gay/lesbian oriented publication. I think you’re thinking of Associated Content, maybe??

Ah. That’s probably it. Thanks for the correction.

    ETA: You too Rowe!

  428. Hawkins is regarded as one of the best rock guitarists ever. And a great match for Adam’s voice.

Maybe this collaboration is why Cavallo knows that Adam can hit every note a guitar can hit. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!

  429. After the TFM Music Video , I thought today would be rest day for my nerves.
Here comes Lyndsey Parker and her review….

My blood has turned to glitter and how can one expect us glamfollowers to keep a hold of reality with this dangling over our music souls….
So now the drums start pounding demanding , aching for the lead single… can they make it three ?

TFM is looking like a transition, to ease us into the vortex of Adam’s new creation of unheard of sounds….

  430. Of course there’s fire and lightning in the DArkness so Adam should be right at home in his flaming headress

  431. OMG! I loved that video of The Darkness! That Justin Hawkins is fantastic and a perfect match for Adam. What a guitarist! I am really excited now that what Adam has in store is going to be fabulous! Can’t wait!

  432. When I click on songs to see the popularity bars, all I see is the popularity relative to the singer’s other songs– 12 bars max. I have ITunes 9. This makes me super sad because I love looking at graphs and charts and comparisons… :-(

  433. I’m loving Lyndsey’s review .. I love the Rocky Horror Show and I love Robbie Williams so I love the bit about the opening to “Entertainment” .. it totally puts a new slant on what I thought was a pretty middle of the road album title .. it all takes on a totally new meaning .. I just think of Tim Curry’s entrance with Sweet Transvestite and his “how do you do .. I … see you’ve met my … ”

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Enr4W6FsSpk&feature=related

Justin Hawkins is extremely glam rock …. and knows how to make a grand entrance ..lol

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McUI5VwFbgY

  434. Exciting news from Lyndsey. Now wondering if one of them will be the single. Winners?

  435. So Myspace has Adam’s video for most popular. It has over 330,000 hits. The second most popular has 114,000 hits and was added Oct 14th.

So, if the ratings are down because of spam….at least Adam gets people thinking about him! LOL

  436. Thanks for the link. The guitar playing is awesome but Justin is definitely out there! Prays that Adam doesn’t go too far down that road’ ¦’ ¦.

I’m with you clearone… that is really OTT. Guess it is a wait and see thing. Again, though, why are all these people coming out of the woodwork to work with Adam??? Do they all see what we see?

  437. Lyndsey Parker, you never disappoint. I want this DAMNED ALBUM TO COME OUT RIGHT NOW.

Or just the lead single. Pretty please…!!!!

ETA: Animated, there is no rest for the weary during the ADAM STORM!

  438. The Darkness also had a big Xmas hit here in the UK with ‘Christmas Time .. Don’t Let the Bells End’ .. which was a kind of up to date Benny Hill play on words title’ ¦lol

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-eslNwGXrI

If Adam ever did a Christmas/Hannuka/Holiday album this would be the style… But a duet of Baby It’s Cold Outside with Lady Gaga could be fun

  439. Wow! Lyndsey’s review kind of makes you get all chill bumpy. Flailing for real now!!! OMG. Loved the links to Justin Hawkins!! That guy can rock out the guitar–good things comin’ our way peeps!!

Another super thing about TfM being on iTunes Top 10 is the fact that now all the “others” (outside the bubble) will see the song and go check out a snippet. Same as I do with new songs that are charting. I always check out what is in front of my face on the main page, and have found some songs I like even though I had never heard of the artist. It is definitely giving AL more mainstream coverage.

  440. Must admit every time I look at that pic of Adam going to kiss the model in the Detail’s shoot I keep thinking his tongue is a cracker or biscuit (cookie) … it looks more like a cookie than a tongue ..lol

  441. OMG, Karenw, that is SO funny, my teenaged daughter said the same thing! She said his tongue looked like a piece of pita bread!

  442. How come I had never heard of Justin Hawkins before? Well, Lyndsey and Adam are sure introducing me to singers, musicians, and bands I was not familiar with.

I wonder if Justin was in the Zodiac Show? ;) I wonder if Lyndsey put her exploding back together again. I guess so, since she tweeted the link to her review.

    Oh, Lyndsey, never change…

  443. do anyone know the link to Max Martin youtube video from when he was in a band

  444. I just got back. Here is the QuickCut link for radio play for Time for Miracles

Anyway, Time for Miracles is in the New Release section, 3rd from the top. Another mainstream media contact with the masses!!! Yay!

(Who was loaning out their extra ! today? I need to borrow several hundred.)

yes, they are and they do.

Sue Brody- maybe one of our friends from across the pond can give us their impression of The Darkness. Here, they were pretty much a one hit wonder. That song is not old either- it came out in 2003. Although his vocals and guitar work were out of this world, I think most people here considered them a novelty act.

But before anybody thinks I am dissing J. Hawkins, I assure you I am not. I am anxious to see what he’s got. Remember Linda Perry was basically a one hit wonder too and look what that woman can do!

  451. 29,000 people heard it

In this case, that is probably true. But, to be pedantic, it means that it has been heard 29,000 times. In the case of songs that are spun on the same station multiple times, the same person may hear the song more than once, but that’s still important since repetition seems to encourage buying.

Each spin is multiplied by the number of listeners for that station during the block of time that the song was spun. That’s the AI for one spin and then you just add all those up.

    it’s a start

Yep. They haven’t started radio promo, yet, so big numbers aren’t to be expected from the first day.

BTW The Quickcut is only updated once a day (around 4:30 am PST), so there is no point in haunting the link all day.

  452. Wow. Just read the Lyndsey Parker review. Holy moly – I love her :-)

Granted, still taking it all with a grain of salt, but, on the plus side, if it’s only a fraction as good as she says it is, it is still AMAZINGLY SMOKING HOT GOOD!

  453. OMG, I come home from work- find my VERY OWN COPY Of Details and geez, the scans do NO justice to the beauty of these photos!!!! I am drooling..

I am so jealous now, went to my local Chapter’s, all the new magazines came in today, no Details till next week. How is that fair ?!!!
LOVED Lyndsey’s review, Funkytown was fantastic, can’t wait!!!!

  455. So with this Hawkins thing, riding in on a flying tiger, you can betcha that Adam will come flying in on his glittery flying saucer, spinning around, and flames aflying!!!!

  456. Hey guys I hope that track is better than the Darkness. Thats another band endorsed by Brian May back in 2004. They tried to take off here in the US and it never came out of the hole.
Justin Hawkins is a throwback kinda style who likes to sing up there in his obnoxious upper register. I hope he changed his style and wrote something current, rougher, and, in Adams lower register, please.

  457. So with this Hawkins thing, riding in on a flying tiger, you can betcha that Adam will come flying in on his glittery flying saucer, spinning around, and flames aflying!!!!

    Lord I hope not………….

  458. Sue Brody- maybe one of our friends from across the pond can give us their impression of The Darkness. Here, they were pretty much a one hit wonder. I can’t speak for the whole of the UK .. but they were a bit of a “marmite” group .. some loved them, some disliked them (perhaps because of their video’s etc portraying them as a bit of a parody of the glam rock artists of the past) …. there was something of a novelty about them as they were different to a lot of the stuff that was around at the time and their video’s were often a bit tongue in cheek or comedic .. both in sound and dress .. but there was no denying that Justin was/is a fantastic guitarist.

They had a #1 album and a number of top 10 singles and also won a few BRIT awards (kind of like a watered down version of the Grammy’s) .. including Best Album and Best Rock Act ..

.. so they certainly contributed to the UK music scene.

  459. Justin Hawkins is a throwback kinda style who likes to sing up there in his obnoxious upper register. I hope he changed his style and wrote something current, rougher, and, in Adams lower register, please.

It will definitely be interesting to see what they came up with.
BTW Rub, thanks for the music file format information you posted earlier today. That was very helpful.

  460. “The Advocate has chimed in on the TFM video. I’m bolding a quote because it could be the reason TFM has been included on Adam’s record as a bonus track.

Lambert hits the high notes with gusto and wails as bridges and buildings crumble and cars explode behind him. The song, according to industry analysts, is a strong contender for a Best Original Song nomination at next year’s Academy Awards.”

    http://www.advocate.com/News/Daily_News/2009/10/21/Adam_Lambert_Channels_Aerosmith_Celine/

This is great news and Lyndsey Parker’s review of THREE songs that she got to hear?!?!? I am now jealous of her profession and want to be her.

  464. TFM is looking like a transition, to ease us into the vortex of Adam’s new creation of unheard of sounds’ ¦.

ITA! I just said virtually the same thing to my husband a bit ago when I read him Lindsay’s epic article, then I read your post and saw that I wasn’t alone in my thinking. I actually think it was a brilliant move. I am soooo excited about his new album. Her article also puts the album title into perspective. If “Entertainment” is as awesome as Lindsay says, no one will be thinking it’s a lame title any more.

  465. Well, Lyndsey’s piece certainly got me excited. Justin Hawkins is a little out there, it seems. I will sit with Clearone in hoping that Adam doesn’t take things too far. Some of this is new territory for me—it is strange, I am normally drawn to more of Kris’s style of music. In this case, Adam has got me hooked. More than anything, I just hope I love Adam’s album. Forget the charts/sales, I just hope it is something that I love.

Cavallo did say that they recorded two songs with that 30 piece orchestra (apart from TFM), so I am assuming these made the album, and not everything will be dance/electro-pop.

  466. How do you get to the top 100 pg? All I’ve ever done on iTunes is purchase.

on the right hand side where it says “top songs”…..click on it.

  467. Should I be a little worried about J Hawkins? Is he too OTT? I happen to be a Max Martin fan, OTOH. I saw Hawkins on the goat and I was like, er, I dunno. Adam admitted to having an “identity crisis” (EW Magazine) after the Tour–hope the album sounds as good as it COULD. Lyndsey doesn’t 100 percent count, tho I lurrrve her, b/c Adam can do NO wrong in her eyes. She is the least objective blogger EVER. ;) He could sing nursery rhymes and she would be salivating (of course, so would we, probably). If he is a totally amazing guitarist, then I guess there is nothing to worry about. (I am a worrier.)

OTOH, Entertainment sounds like a great song, and since Adam said he would use a song from the album for its name, there ya go. I am no longer worried about the album title. And now I am of the mind that TfM is a perfect sequeway into FYE (plus, I happen to like it VERY MUCH, it is getting mostly positive feedback, is selling tres well, and is giving Adam some kick!ass exposure.)

I hope they saved a copy of Detals Mag for me at B&N, they way they promised…

Anyway…I WANT THE DAMNED SINGLE ALREADY! *stomping foot* AND…the album cover. It’s killing me not to have the album cover. Kris and Allison have theirs–I want Adam’s. *petulant facial expression*

I want more beautiful Adam is what I am saying.

(Finally, I got my iTunes new releases email, too–bummer Adam wasn’t front and center, but he’s there, and WHEN DO WE GET TO PRE-ORDER THE ALBUM?? IT’S A MONTH OUT, SO IT’S TIME, iTunes. GET ON IT.) Love all the press for our boy, tho. Is he still at #9? :)

  468. People who can, allocate their little treat for whatever they like most. Could be chocolate. Or organic fruit. Doesn’t have to be music.

Aww… you just reminded me of one of my favorite poems- Hyacinths To Feed Thy Soul.

“If of thy mortal goods thou art bereft,
And from thy slender store two loaves alone to thee are left,
Sell one, and with the dole
Buy hyacinths to feed thy soul.”

-Moslih Eddin Saadi, Gulistan (Garden of Roses)

  469. VAlilac, didn’t you post those same links before?

    —-

thx DLee, I’ll see if its there

  470. Maybe my itunes isn’t up to date, but it looks to me like TFM is at #7, overall. ITA with others who said being in the top 10 list is the best advertising. I just sampled all of the top 10, I was like, what’s “Sexy Bitch” and why is that #1?

So reading between the lines of Lyndsey’s musically-deep squeeing, it seems to me that Adam’s album is exactly the direction that a lot of people wanted. But notice she kept going on about Kris’s hit potential. For Adam’s album, I think it’s about the overall sound, so I’m really curious how his “real” single will roll out. Will it get radio play, at all? I’m not as worried about TFM because there’s the music video which is viral, the movie itself, This is It, itunes, if it gets no spins at all.

  471. Buderschnookie- word jewel of a poem. Thanks. The lesson would be sell all your old CD’s at yard sell prices if necessary, and get FYE.

  472. So top 7, exciting. Hopefully, TFM will hang around in the iTunes top 10 for a while (and maybe at #1???).

  473. Still top 9 for me. Um happycat are you looking at Canadian Itunes?

  474. DLee you’re right, I was looking at Canada by accident. Canadians are superior people – I raise a carton of Tim’s Bits on your behalf!

    So #7 Canada, #9 US, #4 Finland.

Trust the Force of Adam, and his otherworldly talents, to pull us into this ‘vocal drug endused’, music experience. We should not fear for change. It needs to come, and shake things up. Stagnacy is de-evolving, and not moving forward.
Remember David Bowie, and his boldness. My god, he was electricity, and he really stirred things up. Sir Elton John took a great risk as well.
Freddie Mercury was a genius, and loved opera, and applied it, to a few of their famous tunes. They all took risks, and have millions of adoring fans! They are all legends, in the music world.
Fear should never be a reason, not to try to create something new. You learn more from a failure, than from total success.
Adam has already been through the shallow, shortsided part of the industry. Like he mentioned,”he has developed a thick skin, and knows how the industry rejects people.” He is smart, and this is his time to shine!

Thanks to Lyndsey Parker’s, unbelievable review of great goo! I practcally fell, out of my chair. I was giddy, and was totally enthralled with laughter & tears.
She was brilliant in conveying her, complete meltdown of experiencing, a ‘close encounter of the Adam kind!’ That’s our “Glittery Alien From The Planet Fierce”!

  476. But notice she kept going on about Kris’s hit potential. For Adam’s album, I think it’s about the overall sound, so I’m really curious how his ‘real’ single will roll out. Will it get radio play, at all?

I think this is why you have to take a lot of these reviews, especially from the Lyndsey, Slezak, and Cantiello’s of the world, with a grain of salt. According to all of them (iirc) LLWD had huge hit potential too. Not saying it still won’t do well – but, yeah.

  477. Mine is still at 9 as well.

    Hey, tweet from aimee!

AimeeMayo @suebrody1 well hell yea I love that video. lol40 minutes ago from web in reply to suebrody1

Aimee never lets us down. :)

happycat 14, I agree. Lyndsey never DID mention radio airplay. I think she is saying Kris is more mainstream (like, duh). but one of the artists (or sounds?) mentioned is Augustana, and I LOVE Augustana. So I hope Adam does get radio airplay and isn’t just played in clubs or stuff. If there is Muse, that is awesome, tho Muse gets no airplay except by college campuses in the states (and maybe some real alt-stations, if there are any). Again, am I worrying for nothing? Will it turn out that TfM is the most successful single? Lord, I hope not (DESPITE MY INCREASING LOVE OF IT). One of the songs is co-written by Pink (per EW); that should do well, no? Pink is radio-humongous. Maybe it is just about sales and not so much about airplay? Maybe for Adam it will be videos or the Tour. I guess we will find out soon.

BTW, one poster in the Kris thread, noting that Kris had taken vocal lesson recently (as if Adam hasn’t taken dozens of them–listen to him on Idol, he says so) dissed Adam re: vocals. I mean, please, you cannot diss the man’s vocals, even if you do not like his vocal stylings. NO ONE HAS HIS RANGE. And good on Kris, b/c he def sounded breathy at times.

8Jean8 Okay, I will let you be the voice of reason. I am the voice of probably needless concern, due to my love of all that is Adam, except the occasional wail (far less often now).

  478. Aimee’s latest tweet…

  481. A tweet from one of Adam’s collaborators. Sweet of him!

ClaudeKelly RT @adamlambert It’s official! My debut album, dropping November 23rd will be called “For Your Entertainment” <==GET READY 4 the SHOW PPL!!

“Entertainment” – The default title track and statement of intent, masterminded by Dr. Luke (Katy Perry) and Claude Kelly (Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson), Adam opens this one up, Rocky Horror-meets-Robbie Williams-style, with the audacious declaration: “I’m here for your entertainment!”

  482. from today’s Rachel Ray show, Lea Michele wants to duet with Adam

    LOL! Who doesn’t ;-)

I will sit with Clearone in hoping that Adam doesn’t take things too far. Some of this is new territory for me’”it is strange, I am normally drawn to more of Kris’s style of music.

I agree – my biggest fear has always been Adam not properly straddling that very fine line between building a significant fan base to do well in the long term, yet still being able to stay true to himself in all his OTT fabulosity.

That said, Adam’s sound from idol, his style, what he’s said so far about the sound of his album and the artists he admires most, make me the most confident that I will LOVE what I hear. I like my music eclectic, edgy, powerful, taken to extremes, etc. Laid back is so not my thing.

So if it’s all these things, I’ll be very satisfied, oh, and entertained ;-)

  483. Matt Giraud @adamlambert Hey great job on the video, man! And thanks for letting me be in it! (I was in one of the cars)haha btw where are the pancakes

Matt was in the video! or it’s a typical Matt joke *scratches head*

  485. Well, Lyndsey and Adam are sure introducing me to singers, musicians, and bands I was not familiar with.

Yeah same here….my favorite though as been Ferras…check out his album Aliens & Rainbows..it has become one of my favorites..sooooo gooooood!

  486. So I hope Adam does get radio airplay and isn’t just played in clubs or stuff. If there is Muse, that is awesome, tho Muse gets no airplay except by college campuses in the states (and maybe some real alt-stations, if there are any).

My take is, RCA will probably not let Adam veer too far from mainstream – I just can’t see them doing that. I love that Lyndsey has so much love for the tracks, but my impression was always that they’d want to craft TOP 40 style pop/electronic/dance tracks (at least some of them) that, according to Adam and others, will definitely have a modern sound. I just can’t see it being so out there or experimental that it would not have the potential to get picked up on the radio. Not saying that it WILL (though certainly HOPING it will :-) ) but, yeah, just my take.

They’ve put too much money into Adam, lining up the best PR, producers, writers, etc. that it will likely veer more toward what we already see on the charts (which I’m kinda hoping for, actually, at least for the first album). The second one is allowed to be more out there ;-)

  487. Yeah same here’ ¦.my favorite though as been Ferras’ ¦check out his album Aliens & Rainbows..it has become one of my favorites..sooooo gooooood!

Totally agree!!! He seems like such a cool dude (AND BEST PAL OF ONE AIMEE MAYO!!!). Sadly, their collab did not make Adam’s album, but they are still shopping it around.

ETA: Thank you, Mary. As always, you guys keep me centered. :)

  488. Adamland thx I like cocktail as a type of song although rocky horror is an all time fave I’m relying on Adams something for everybody statements. I think some of his stuff will be pushing my envelope and I think thAt some videos might tweak my cringe factor button but love the risks he’s taking. Lady gagas vids are not my thing but her songs are enjoyable.

  489. ETA: Thank you, Mary. As always, you guys keep me centered.

LOL! And you keep us supplied with insider tweets from all of Adam’s collaborators :-)

  490. Oh, I REALLY LIKE Hot Leg. Very 80s sound (in a good way). I could see this.

    BTW, tweet from Laura Saltman:

will have video up 2nite or tmw with the answer! RT @burningSunset: @DishofSalt LMAO! Yes please, to that question! What did he say?

Does this have anything to do w/ Adam or it unrelated?

  491. I do think the album will be an ecclectic mix, and Lyndsey may have heard one end of the spectrum. I am certain that the majority of songs were crafted to fit right in Top 40 with a Pink/Lady GaGa/ Katy Perry vibe. I think 19/RCA is banking on Adam being their break-out, Top 40 person. As long as the gorgeous voice is there, I will be happy. This will certainly be a much different record than I normally would be attracted to—but, again, it’s that voice.

  492. lol, Mary, and Chicagolaw, I agree. IT IS THE VOICE. IT IS EXACTLY THE VOICE. I listen primarily to more pop bands (Keane, DMB, One Republic) or artists (Gavin DeGraw, Jack Johnson–don’t hate me, Adele), BUT I am now into Muse and the Twilight soundtrack (Death Cab for Cutie song: excellent) and other artists I would not have been pre-Adam, as I said. I also listen more to GaGa/Katy Perry (still not a Pink fan, cannot help it, let Allison go that way, not Adam) than I used to (am expanding my horizons). And I was a BIG Moby fan (and Depeche Mode, and The Cure and Yaz, etc.) so moody and electro goes a long way with me.

DAMMIT, just put out a single, Adam. Dying here.

    Tweet back from Laura Saltman:

its in reference to dominic monagah Flash Forward intv RT @suebrody1: @DishofSalt OOH, what question? WHAT QUESTION??? Do tell!5 minutes ago from TweetDeck

So I said that I thought that Adam was still Awake Man, vis a vis coat, MW, Black Swan. ;)

  493. My take is, RCA will probably not let Adam veer too far from mainstream ‘“ I just can’t see them doing that.

I’m not sure I understand what mainstream is in relation to Adam Lambert. I can put many idols into those peg holes, but I have a hard time figuring out how Adam would fit. Reading how Lindsay describes his songs just verifies my impression that Adam is definitely going OTT and bombastic. And considering who the PTB have teamed him up with I don’t think they are about to vanilla him any time soon.

  494. Is mainstream in the GaGa lane? If he goes OTT–no issues with experimental rock/electro pop–will it sell? Because you KNOW TPTB want bang for their bucks. And just having the name Adam Lambert (and that VOICE, God, that VOICE) may not be enough (tho intro by way of TfM is gonna pay off big-time, me thinks). As a Moby and Fatboy Slim fan, I’d like to see a bit of that. Maybe? Synth is your friend. I would never expect vanilla from Adam. If they wanted vanilla, they wouldn’t put him with the artist and producers that they have had him collaborate with, I totally agree.

I know people don’t like the Lady Gaga comparison, but that’s more what I’m thinking (at least for some of the songs). Believe it or not, a lot of very current, successful acts have a throwback vibe (borrowing from the 70’s and 80’s, etc.) So I don’t think this is too much of a stretch.

A nice tweet from MATT to Adam

  497. You didn’t think I would leave you hanging, right?

Laura SaltmanDishofSalt lol. dont think i didnt ask about that RT @suebrody1: Still think Adam is the Awake Man…MW…coat…BLACK SWAN…just sayin. ;)7 minutes ago from TweetDeck

SO it is still a possibility, as i tweeted back to her. ;) And she could then flail and flail…such a sight to behold. She and Lyndsey are my favorite fangirls, followed by Michelle Collins.

  498. I think that would be so neat if Adam was the Awake Man. One of the things I like alot about his look is that to me he looks like he could be on a cover of my romance books that I read. His got that look that’s really different.I don’t know how to explain it. What is he now on i-tunes.

  499. my favorite though as been Ferras

FYI for those of you that say your favorite is Ferras – a couple of tweets between him and molinari:

molinari to ferras: DILDO MUCH? How’s ur PLAYTEX GENTLE GUIDE?

ferras to molinari: BETTER THAN USING A COKE BOTTLE OR LIGHT BULB LIKE U!

Please scroll upthread and look at the nine spots above Adam’s TFM. Which one of these top 10 songs say “radio-ready Kris Allen” to you. That soft/pop rock market is extremely overcrowded and becoming less popular, especially amoung tweens and teens. They want something they can dance to. Adam’s new music is what’s hot now.

Adam took voice lessons from the time he was 10. He was in two sections of chorus every year in high school. Also, when you are in musicals you are under the direction of a musical director. He has taken his voice and his talents seriously since he was young.

Adam did not just fall into American Idol and hope for the best. He is not taking this opportunity lightly and it is paying off. Relax and enjoy! I sometimes wonder how the news could get much better. (but things keep getting better!!!)

  501. Who are you and what did you do to carolinacharms?

    Lmfao!! Touche. :)

    …………..

Exactly! It’s Adam’s time, and he is prepared and confident.
His day in the spotlight, has finally come! Adam’s excitement, is so endearing. I am hanging on tight, for the ride!

I don’t expect vanilla from Adam but I definetely expect it from RCA. It seems they have a tendency to go the safe route with the idols they sign. Yes, they won’t become huge this way but they can be moderately succesful. It’s like they go for the middle road, maybe a bit too middle road than what is really necessary. I agree that they have to think about where in the market the idol will fit but they also have to consider who the idol is as an artist. For example, I think it was brilliant for Danny to go more country than pop, I really can’t picture him on top40, his image is much more wholesome. The music market it broader than top40 and not everyone has to be a soul diva a la Clive Davis to be succesful.

  504. video and text
Adam Lambert Calls Michael Jackson’s Musical Style ‘Groundbreaking’
    http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1624416/story.jhtml

“[H]is music so groundbreaking because he really brought a lot of rock into [it],” Lambert, who grew up listening to MJ and watching his videos, told MTV News. “He had initially set himself up with this R&B presence and he brought so much rock into it and I think it was really groundbreaking how he fused all those different styles together in a pop format. I’m very inspired by that musically.”

  505. Hi, I am not even able to keep up with all the buzz, links, head exploding Adam extravaganza.

However, I *think* TFM is about to pass Paparazzi in itunes.

  506. Reminder:

By the way, I’m going through this entire thread for the first time. The next poster who calls another poster “a troll” will be put into moderation.

  507. Not sure if this is the right thread for this. Need help in understanding why when i vote on myspace the percentage doesn’t change. It should change right? Would appreciate any feedback on this.
