Whole lotta love solo

Ellen says a lot of the current crop of contestants aren’t showing their personality, but Tim did a good job of showing America who he is.

  1. Great job, Timmeh! If he sang with this much feeling on the show, he’d still be on.

  2. What a sexy guy! He sings great too! He’s like a Zac Efron type of guy. I can see him acting in musicals and such!

  3. Thanks for posting, MJ. I never get to hear this stuff on TV.

I really think he will do well off idol *fingers crossed*

That was such a charming interview, I really enjoy the way his positivity makes me feel included rather excluded. He doesn’t come across like someone blindly optimistic, but someone who has made a conscious choice to be happy. I love that idea.

On to the singing – which honestly, I think comes second to the above, because I think his persona is where his money is rather than his less than unique voice.

He sounded lovely – much better than his performance of it on the show.

  4. He was good. He wasn’t the best vocalist on AI, but he does sing in tune – mostly. Today it was all in tune.

He’s got a great body, but I really wish he would restyle his hair so his face would show a little more.

  5. He may not have had the best voice, but he certainly has everything else going for him…….looks, charm, intelligence, communication skills, positive attitude! I wish him luck in the future! What a cutie pie!

His voice on this particular song sounded like he should be a worship leader at some dreary church, but still he is in tune.

He sounded lovely – much better than his performance of it on the show.

I think there were so many other people that were better than him, that he got swallowed up, but really the guy sings in tune 98% of the time, he just sounded kinda monotonous, his tone was always the same. (In my head I know what I am trying to relay – LOL)

  7. Sounds alot better then when he was on the show. Also he is a cutie.

  8. really the guy sings in tune 98% of the time, he just sounded kinda monotonous, his tone was always the same.

I agree overall – he is definitely not a unique or even great interpreter of songs. What he does have is a sincere / earnest interpretation that I think is highly appealing and marketable. (At this time in music, you really don’t have to be an amazing singer to have a great career in music – you just need people willing to support you.)

And besides, Tim is so commercial! (ew, that is the last time I want to be channeling Kara ;))

  9. His voice on this particular song sounded like he should be a worship leader at some dreary church, but still he is in tune.

^^Exactly. Maybe he’ll try marketing his songs for the Christian music and radio market. I think many Idol contestants have gone this route – Mandisa, for one, comes to mind. Of course, that girl can really sing.

  10. “getting a satisfaction of doing your best” ….. this is a damn good attitude. Bravo

He sung it well this morning. I wish him the best!

  11. Tim seems like a very nice guy! He’s cute too. But his vocals are not his strong suit.

  12. Tim was so amazing singing this! He is so cute and likeable! Love his personality!
These gave me the chills! Go Timmy go! He does have a good voice IMO.
Awww. Just love his attitude. I am crossing my fingers he will have success after the show. He really is so damn marketable.
I am going to miss him so much on the show.. I am going to bet he will at least be more successful than Casey, Big Mike, Aaron and Shioban.

  13. I actually liked that a good deal more than his performance of the same song in the Top 16.

  14. I always thought that Tim was a “nice guy,” but that he shouldn’t be on AI. I never heard what other people heard. But w/this performance, for the first time I was digging his voice. Much fuller and richer than it ever was on AI. Best of luck to you, Tim!

  15. LOVE him LOOOOVE him!!! He really improved during the competition. I would watch him on Glee. He is much better than Cory Monteith.

  16. Great interview and I think he did a very nice job on the song. I don’t know I still think commercially he could be the next Bieber or Jonas Brother type. The girls (some guys) are going to love his look. Wait and see. I suspect we will be seeing him in some teen movie or even on The Disney Channel on some new series…..”Tim’s Notes” (He can be a School’s cracker jack journalist who critiques the schools glee club and secretly has a passion to be in it)….Ha ha ha ha.

    better and hotter~!
cory is a perfect example of being successful with not talent whatsoever!
It wouldn’t surprise me if Tim ends up being more successful than any of the other idols
(hope C and L do good though)

  18. i actually enjoyed that. i think that if he takes singing lessons for a while, he could actually have a career. considering the level of talent of current artists– u don’t really need to be an amazing singer. it’s enough to be a decent vocalist, but to have good looks, charisma and the pr machine. after AI time got the pr so many really great artists never get to have, i have a feeling we will hear more about him.

  19. He seems to have a lot of positivity and is driven about his future. So I think it’s very possible he will find a place somewhere, in music or TV. With all of the whining people do about who is marketable and who isn’t on Idol, he’s definitely one who is. People don’t like to include him though, as opposed to Lee or Crystal, who clearly are better vocalists.

With some training and just more practice, he could definitely improve with his singing. He’s good now, he does need a little work though. Then he definitely has the looks and the boyish charm, so I don’t think this is the last we’ll see of him. =D

  20. He’s got lots of charisma. He should go into acting. He would be a perfect fit for Glee. With the right song, he could do well on the charts, as well. Good luck!

  21. Wow. That was leaps and bounds better than when he performed it on the show.

I’ll miss Tim. He’s one of those contestants who just radiates sunshine. True, he wasn’t the strongest vocalist… but I think the Idol stage will feel a little empty without him.

  22. Aw, Tim sounded awesome. That performance was better than he ever was on idol. I’ll miss seeing him next week.

  23. Wow, I’m liking this kid more and more. Hope he makes it big in HSM or glee, like Ellen said. In many ways he was my favorite of the season. Amid a sea of negativity and despondency, he “took the punches left and right” and “never let the words get the best of him” tm David Cook. He doesn’t have quite the voice but I bet he might make it bigtime.

  24. That was one of the better interviews from an idol bootee on Ellen. So very cool, calm, collected, and positive. Nice job Timmeh! He performed the song with confidence and it DID sound better than on the show. He’d be a nice addition to a HSM-style cast, Glee, or somewhere on TV, as Ellen suggested. (The muscular body is a plus too). Anyway, I wish him good luck in his future. It could be bright indeed.

  25. Tim has a lot of the same attributes of Kris Allen….no not his singing….but his personality, going with the flow, being always positive, and his good looks. All of these will serve him well as they have served Kris. I thought he did a great performance of this song on Ellen. I’m sure he will get a great reception on the tour and it will let him hone his skills. I wish him all the best.

  26. I feel deflated since Tim left. I did not imagine he would win, but I was hoping he can stay as long as possible to have some good runs. I think he did. I agree with Idolnewby about resemblance to Kris. Both of them have wonderful personality and positive attitude. I don’t understand why many people are so hard on him.

I think he is a role model in his way, and wish him the best. My daughter scold me that he is better than this, but is Disney channel watching? Or, does Sesami street need a guest?

After the picture, “Bay Watch, the musical sequel” popped into my mind, but from everything I heard so far, I doubt he will ever take off his shirt again and I hope he doesn’t have to.

  27. I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Tim. Someone will scoop him up. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that people are already calling.

I love his positive attitude and wish him well.

  28. Timmy is in the IICD house! yay! i’m gonna miss him so much next tuesday…

  29. Comparisons to Kris make me laugh. Tim is way hotter and way less talented vocally.

  30. Tim sang this so well! LOved his voice and he plays guitarvery well.
Without the pressure he can shine!
I really really hope he gets tons of offers for TV and music. I am looking forward to see him again for a long time!

  31. Tim is a cute guy and seems to have a relatively nice personality and strength of character. But the number of people willing to combine those qualities into vocal talent is surprising to me. Good looks and good personality often add up to a good career.
