Taylor John William, The Voice season 7 alum and Team Gwen Stefani member releases a live version of “Like the Movies.” The song is from the singer’s 2017 album, El Dorado.
I felt that ‘Like the Movies’ was most deserving of a no-frills, live performance video,” Taylor told Yahoo music where the video premiered. The clip features some of the singer’s favorite artists–Los Angeles vocalists Beck Pete, Ricky Manning, and Madison Malone–in addition to director Cypress Jones and audio engineer Thomas Greene. Together, they create an intimate and emotional performance.
“Like the Movies” is a “song about addiction,” said Taylor, “an addiction to the idea of getting something back that perhaps ought not be gotten back. It was inspired by a bit of undeniable irony, when a large field back in my hometown where I shared a defining moment with my first great love became the grounds for a new drug treatment center.”
