Alisan Porter returned “home” to The Voice Tuesday night (May 2) to perform her new single “Deep Water.” The season 10 winner is currently preparing to release her new EP I Come In Pieces sometime this summer.

In an interview with Access Hollywood before the singer took the stage, she talked about collaborating with her good friend, American Idol season 8 alum, Adam Lambert. Alisan dishes the deets on recent songwriting sessions.

“Adam and I wrote an amazing duet!” Alisan revealed, “I’m not sure if it’s going to make the EP, but it’s definitely gonna come to the surface at some point. But we did write together.” In between his gig as a frontman for Queen, Adam has been working on his own record, for which Alisan is writing some songs. “We’ve been such an insane support system for each other,” Alisan gushed, “If it’s not [a] singing collaboration it’s [a] writing collaboration. We’re always sort of working together and guiding each other through this insanity.”

Adam was particularly helpful as Alisan and coach Christina Aguilera competed to win season 10 last spring. Drawing on his experience as a former singing competition contestant and judge (American Idol, X Factor AU), Adam helped guide her through all the ups and downs she experienced.

“He’s so funny!” Alisan said, commenting on the kind of advice he dispensed, “He’s like ‘Get your hair out of your face!’ It’s things like that. He’s like my Jewish mother.” But on a more serious note, Alisan confessed, “Honestly, it’s just like ‘you’ve been through this, what is this like? What should I do here? Is this the right look for me? Is this the right sound for me?,” Adam helped Alisan stay grounded and “take it out of that Hollywood space.” She added, “We’ve always been super real with each other–and family.”
