A 3+ minute featurette during The Voice premiere Monday (2/29) featured the current champ Jordan Smith talking about the massive life changes after his win and what fans can expect from the singer’s debut album. The entire clip was sponsored by American Express and literally took up an entire commercial break!
The singer shared his thoughts on what it was like to record his forthcoming debut, Something Beautiful, set for release on March 18. The title of the album came about because he “found something beautiful about each song” at a different point of his life.
He got to work with “some pretty amazing” people on the album, including award winning producer David Foster whom he describes as a living legend. “For me to have the chance to work with a producer of his caliber on my first album is such a dream come true.”
Jordan is working on the official music video for the first single, “Stand in the Light.” He calls the anticipation “very very nerve wracking” and that the experience is “not anything I’ve ever done before.” He added that he had “no idea” what to expect.
The song “Stand in the Light is a “very special” song to Jordan. When co-writer and the song’s eventual producer Stephan Moccio played the song for Jordan, he “immediately knew” he had to sing it.
“The lyrics are so deeply moving,” says Jordan, “I feel like they embody everything I want to say to my fans.” The singer added, “It truly is a song of my heart.”
