The Voice Virtual Open Calls Begin September 21 (VIdeo)

The Voice season 21 begins TONIGHT (September 20) on NBC with coaches Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and new coach Ariana Grande beginning the search for a new winner. However, even with the current season just beginning, The Voice is looking for new talent for the next season.

Virtual Open Calls for The Voice begin on September 21 & 22. But there are also dates scheduled for October 19 & 20, November 9 & 10 and December 7 & 8.

Prospective artists must be at least 13 years old or older. Unlike American Idol which tops out at 28, there is no upper age limit on The Voice. And all musical styles are welcome. Are you a classical singer? Sing Broadway show tunes? Love Russian folk music? Come on down! Admittedly, that last genre will probably NOT get casted on The Voice! But if you sing country, R&B or pop, you will be golden.

Don’t forget, however, that NBC cut the series back to once a year. The talent the show is casting now will debut on your screens NEXT September at the earliest. Up until season 20, The Voice aired twice a year, in the Spring and Fall, every season since 2012. But after 10 years, the network has decided to fashion the show as a once a year event. Instead of The Voice, NBC will premiere The American Song Contest for Midseason 2022. The series is based on the wildly popular European Song Contest, which broadcasts across Europe and Australia in the Spring.

Look, even the coaches want you to audition. But a year from now? Who even knows what The Voice coaches panel will look like. Even veteran Blake Shelton might decide to retire from the panel!
