The Voice UK 2017 seventh night of Blind Auditions air on its new channel ITV 1. Season 6’s new coaches Sir Tom Jones, Jennifer Hudson, will.i.am and Gavin Rossdale continue to build their teams.

It’s the last week of the Blind Auditions. There are only 5 seats to fill. Will has 2 the rest of the coaches only have one more spot on their team.

Paul Woodley – Come Together by The Beatles – Thirty One year old asbestos remover. He may be looking for a safer job!. Whoa. He has a thick accent. Weird guttural tone. Not really digging this to be honest. Whoa. Pitch problems too. He’s playing the harmonica! Yeah. Nobody turned for that. Sad. “He’s gotta bring the fire!” said Will. Pretty much. He acknowledges that he sings better than that. – No Turns.

Abi Phillips – Girl Crush by Little Big Town – Twenty two year old from Birmingham. She performs at bars, pubs, weddings. She’s a songwriter. Oh. She’s got history. She starred in a soap opera for a few years. But she really loves singing. She wants to leave acting behind for music. She’s polished for sure. Someone’s going to turn for that. WOW NO TURNS. I am really surprised. She was semi-famous too. Gavin and Tom admit they were very close. But not quite. The audience is unhappy. – No Turns

Kit Rice – Ain’t No Sunshine by Bill Withers – Twenty five year old says, “The show is called The Voice, and I’ve got one. I should win!” OK. He toured with his parents, who were involved with musical theater. He boasts that he already has a fanbase for the EPS and albums he’s already released. He’s fairly obnoxious. Gavin turns almost immediately. He’s a decent singer, performing a slinky, slowed up version of the classic hit. Jennifer hits her button too. “You got some range!” says Jennifer. He calls himself “an R&B funk artist.” She felt the “sass” in his singing. Tom also compliments his range. Gavin admires his preparation. Gavin would dial the sass down. Hm. I think he’s right. His theatricality is empty. Not surprisingly, he goes with Jennifer – Kit chooses Team Jennifer.

Kelly Irwin – All I Could Do Was Cry by Etta James – Sixteen year old has lots of hobbies, including football (soccer). She’s surprisingly old school. She’s green, but has potential. In a few years she could be fabulous. She needs a couple of years to marinate though. She has a big voice. I’ll be surprised if she doesn’t get a turn. Nobody turns. Huh. Gavin was close. Will says, “We’re all in our heads right now. We’re overanalyzing things.” – No turns.

Tim Gallagher – Crash by Usher – His family has been very supportive. Twenty three year old is a mummy’s boy. He’s played everywhere, clubs, weddings, busking. Will and Gavin turn right away. He’s got great tone and a sweet falsetto. His voice is soulful and rangy. Tom hits his button too! A 3 chair turn. Gavin loves his range and the sound of his voice. Will notes that he hit his button first. He’ll work with him to make him a better singer. Tom loves his strong controlled falsetto. Tim chooses Team Will Tim liked Will’s straight talk.

Gavin Ellis – “Tears in Heaven” by Eric Clapton – Thirty year old married guy. He’s raising three kids and teaches guitar. His father is a musician too. Oh he’s singing that sad song Clapton wrote for his dead son. He fell out of his apartment window. I like his plaintive tone. But nobody else did. No Turns. It’s odd to see so many failed auditions. I’m sure the US version turns away a lot of talented singers, we just don’t see it. Gavin is regretting his decision. Will felt he was too timid. – No Turns

Linda J – Long and Winding Road by the Beatles She’s in a load of bands, whatever that means. I missed the early bit, but this woman is probably at least 40. Gavin, Will and Tom all turn. I bet they are disappointed that she’s not young. That’s not something you could tell with the chair turned. As goofy as her intro package was, she’s a professional seasoned singer with a beautiful tone. Don’t think she’s better than the singers they turned down, though. “You just transported me away,” says Gavin. “I think you would complete my team.” Tom brags that he knows Paul McCartney. He swears Paul wrote the song for him. “You did a wonderful job,” he says. Will thinks it’s fate that she chooses Tom. Ha. He doesn’t want her anymore. Linda chooses Team Tom

Victoria Kerley – Treat You Better by Shawn Mendes – Sixteen year old college student lives with her gran. She has no experience singing in front of people. “I’m so scared!” she says. Will and Gavin turn immediately. She has a very mature voice. Really nice intonation and phrasing. Effortless tone. She’s talented! If she’s nervous, she’d keeping a lid on that pretty will. The family is backstage crying. She and Tom bond over their Welsh roots. Will brags that he turned around after two notes. Gavin believes she has all the tools in the toolbox. He could make her sound the best she could be. Will loves her confidence. All she needs is a hit, he says. As a producer, he could make that happen, he says. Of course, Victoria chooses Team Will. Ha. Her gran is “obsessed” with Will. Poor Gavin.

Only Gavin has a space left.

Ruth Lockwood – Toxic by Britney Spears – Twenty three year old does food demos in stores. Gavin turns right away. I guess he doesn’t have much choice at this point. She’s weirdly theatrical. Hitting operatic high notes here and there. Oh my gosh. Really? She’s like a joke contestant. “You got you one, Gavin,” says Jennifer. Heh. She was the last singer left, but Gavin swears that he’s not disappointed. He’s thrilled to have her on his team. It’s synchronicity! Says Gavin – Team Gavin

Next week the Battle Rounds begin at 3:30 ET/8:30 GMT.
