The Voice Season 15 Recap – Blind Auditions 2 Live Blog and Videos

The Voice Season 15 Michael Lee

The Voice season 15 continues tonight with coaches Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson and Blake Shelton. Carson Daly returns as host. We’re live blogging all the performances here. Watch the coaches build their teams here.

UPDATE: There are NO iTunes recordings for download or to stream. According to Yahoo’s Lindsey Parker, “…singles will be back for the Lives; before that there’ll a “curator” page on Apple Music with playlists made by coaches, former artists, and the original versions of songs covered on the show each week to ‘try something new.’”

In other words–without the voting incentive, we we weren’t making any money!

Keith Paluso – 30 – Memphis TN – Way Down We Go by Kaleo – He’s a park ranger who gets REALLY EXCITED about birds. He loves listening to the calls of the birds. His job is to catalog all the trees and animals in the park. The first date with his wife was to go frog hunting. After he had kids, he began songwriting. His only experience is playing a few open mic nights. His vocal is reasonably bluesy. Blake hits his button right away. And then Blake blocks Adam just as he hit his button. That leaves Keith all to Blake’s self. Blake says, “America is going to LOVE your voice.” Only Blake Turns

Clare DeJean – 17 – Dallas TX – Hurt Somebody by Noah Kalan and Julia Michaels – She always loved music as a kid. Her mom put her in a musical theater jazz class in 3rd grade. Mom compliments her work ethic. Currently, she teaches dance to kindergarten through 4th graders. She’s so nervous, her voice is literally shaking. But Blake turns his chair. And then she loses it even more. She’s not even moderately baked. She’s still cake batter, seriously. Not turning would have been a favor. She’s got a pleasant tone and some nice phrasing going on, but she’s green. And Kelly turns at the last minute. Blake chews Kelly out for wearing her “Kenny Chesney jacket.” Har. Kelly gets excited to learn Clare is also from Texas. Adam thinks she’ll go far in the competition. So…he advocates for Kelly. JHud stays neutral. Blake compares her to Taylor Swift. Kelly thinks she’s more soulful than Taylor and Clare agrees. And Clare Chooses Kelly

Franc West – 38 – Atlanta GA – Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding – He describes himself as a “PK” pastor’s kid. He began REALLY singing in the Navy. He was a “cadence singer.” He became a a dad at 24. Currently, he’s a worship singer and a “dream chaser.” Frank’s got a gritty, unique tone. Perfect song choice. He’s interesting, but nobody is turning. Ohhh. He hits a big note and it’s hella pitchy. He’s lucky that Jennifer finally hits her button. Blake says his voice sounds “accomplished.” He calls a little cadence for the coaches. Jennifer turned because of the “smokiness” in his voice. That tone was hard to deny. Only Jennifer Turns

Michael Lee – 30 – Fort Worth TX – The Thrill is Gone by BB King – He got married 17 days before his audition. The two met at one of his gigs. They do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu together! Otherwise, he’s been playing music since 18 years of age. He was too much in the rock n roll lifestyle before meeting his wife. She set him on the right path. Michael sings the blues classic, accompanying himself on electric guitar. He’s a decent instrumentalist and sings with a muscular tone. I was NOT expecting that. Adam turns first. Jennifer is next. She throws her shoe. Heh. And Blake turns at the very last minute. “You beat me to death with that vocal performance,” says Blake. Kelly suggests he choose a team he’ll stick out on, therefore she is  “Team JHud all the way!” Michael Chooses Blake Michael was going to choose a coach who also played an instrument. Blake is closest to his style, so a no brainer.

Ele Ivory – 20 – Nashville TN – Jump By Julia Michaels feat Trippie Redd – She works in a cave. For real. Oh. It’s the “Bluegrass Underground.” Music in a cave. At night, she plays the Bluebird cafe and does songwriter rounds. She accompanies herself on electric piano. She sounds a little nervous. She’s a bit pitchy. She has some nice moments though and an interesting tone. But. Dang. Nobody turned. Adam says, “It’s all there.” Jennifer noted that it took her a bit to find her pitch. Adam makes her promise to come back. – NO TURNS

But NO WORRIES. Kelsea chose Ely for her Comeback Stage team.

DeAndre Nico – 22 – Port Arthur TX – When I Was Your Man by Bruno Mars – We previewed this audition HERE.  He started singing when he was 7, eventually he learned keyboards and drums. A year ago, Hurricane Harvey hit his hometown. He was driving in it and his car went underwater. His neighborhood was devastated. “It was just horrible. I thought we were going to die in the house.” Finally, they were rescued.  After, the house was destroyed and had to be foreclosed on. He has a beautiful falsetto. Adam is the first to turn. Jennifer goes next. Blake turns and then Kelly. FOUR TURNS. In the end, DeAndre decides to choose “whoever turned first” and that would be Adam. DeAndre Chooses Adam
