The Voice season 13 premieres on NBC this fall on Monday September 25 with coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Hudson. Here are a few spoilery updates for the new season.
First the bad news: It looks like the Playoffs will NOT be live this year, as there are 2 days of taping scheduled for Thursday August 31 and Friday September 1. Here’s the blurb from 1ota.com, the company that handles ticketing:
The Playoffs consist of a team-by-team competition, in which each Coach chooses three out of the remaining five artists to continue into the Live Rounds.
So yeah…No viewer voting until the finals. For a bit of history: Season 6 which featured Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher as coaches also taped the playoffs. And like season 13, the coaches determined which 12 singers advanced to the live rounds.
Seasons 10, 9, 8, 7, 5, 4 and 3 featured two nights of live performances, voting and a separate results show. Seasons 1 and 2 were shorter seasons featuring a different format.
The last day of Battle Rounds tapings take place today (August 7). Also, usually around this time, entertainment sites begin “leaking” the celebrity advisors tapped to assist the coaches. Other than Miley Cyrus spilling in interviews weeks ago that her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, would be her Battle Round advisor, not a word. Hm
