The Voice season 13 concluded Tuesday night (Dec 19) at Universal Studios, Calif., with a star-studded live finale featuring superstar recording artists Kelly Clarkson, who joins The Voice as a coach in the spring, Demi Lovato, N.E.R.D., Charlie Puth, Sia and season 12 winner, Chris Blue. Additionally, the finale featured an array of musical collaborations with the Top 8 artists and musicians across all genres, including Bastille, Vince Gill, Billy Idol, Jessie J, Norah Jones, Bebe Rexha and Sia.
After a parade of performances, twenty three-year-old rock singer and Team Blake Shelton member, Chloe Kohanski from Nashville, Tenn., was crowned season 13 champion.
Chloe faced tough competition from the other Top 4 finalists, including runner-up Addison Agen from Team Adam Levine, 3rd place finisher, Brooke Simpson from Team Miley Cyrus and Red Marlow from Team Blake who in fourth place.and Brooke Simpson from Team Miley.
Each of the Top 4 singers came to the final with a particular advantage. Red Marlow benefited as a seasoned and traditional country singer with the ability to tell a story. Country singers have fared well over the years, with four Team Blake singers–Cassadee Pope, Danielle Bradbery, Craig Wayne Boyd and Sundance Head winning it all. Brooke Simpson was hands down the best technical singer remaining in the competition. In another season, the big voiced belter might have taken it all. And 16 year old Addison Agen with her gorgeous tone and unique phrasing could make any cover song her own.
But in the end, it was Chloe’s hard work, ambition and charisma that won the day. And being on the team of the winningest coach in The Voice history didn’t hurt. A visually creative artist, Chloe captured the attention of The Voice viewers with talent and style. Now she goes on to star in The Voice Vegas residency, Neon Dreams, alongside fellow alums season 10 winner Alisan Porter and Matt McAndrew, Matthew Schuler, Mary Sarah, Chris Mann and Michael Sanchez .
