The Voice Premiere Ratings Lowest to Day Tie With American Idol’s

NBC’s The Voice season 18 premiere garnered a 1.5 rating in the key 18-49 demo, with 9 million total viewers. That’s down 29 and 16 percent respectively year over year. The season 18 opener was The Voice’s lowest rated to date.  In total viewers, only this past fall’s cycle drew a smaller premiere audience (8.9 mil).

The Bachelor nabbed a 1.9 in the demo and 6.8 million viewers, a 1/10th ratings increase over last week. The good news for The Voice:  The premiere ratings were 3/10s of a point higher than last week’s AGT: The Champions finale (1.2/7.6 mil)

As far as the ratings race with American Idol goes: The Voice premiere ratings TIED with the American Idol premiere 1 week ago. However, more viewers watched The Voice premiere: 9 mil vs 8.9 mil for Idol.
