The Voice: NariYella’s Dramatic Dreamgirls Cover Turns 4-Chairs

NariYella The Voice season 23 Blind Audition

The Voice 23 Last of the Blinds! NariYella turns 4 chairs

The Voice season 23 Blind Auditions come to an end on Tuesday (March 21), with more incredible performances, including a 4-chair turn for 20 year old singer, NariYella.

Each of the coaches–Chance the Rapper, Kelly Clarkson, Niall Horan and Blake Shelton–have one more spot to fill on their 10-artist teams. But still, they all hit their buttons for the Elkins Park, Pennsylvania native.

While NariYella performs a dramatic and soulful rendition “One Night Only” from Dreamgirls, Kelly and Chance hit their buttons almost immediately. Blake hits his button next, And when Niall turns last, she gives him a little wave.

“Unfortunately my wife is really into diamonds”

NariYella explains that she’s been singing since she could talk, and has been performing seriously for the last decade. “You know the math!” she jokes. The singer also came to her audition bearing gifts. Blue crystals for the coaches to use for whatever ails them! “Are they good for hangovers,” Blake quipped, predictably. He adds, “Unfortunately my wife [Gwen Stefani] is really into diamonds.”

“You can be into both!” Kelly shoots back.

Niall calls her performance “insane” adding, “You were so comfortable up there, it felt like you’ve been doing it for years and years and years. I’m missing somebody like you on my team.” Plus, Niall says, “I’ve been on a show like this before. I have navigated the whole way through. I came third.” As if One Direction didn’t become more famous than anybody else on that season of X Factor, including the winner! “You did alright,” Kelly laughs.

Blake calls her voice “shocking” and “powerful.” He adds, “Anybody that can be that open and connected to the moment, those are the artists that make it all the way.” He lays on the “my last The Voice team EVER,” hoping to entice her onto his team.

“That kind of passion is what it takes to win a show like this”

Kelly describes NariYella’s personality as “captivating” complimenting her ability to be “so comfortable and confident, so excited” on stage. “That kind of passion is what it takes to win a show like this.” Like Niall, Kelly brings up her own singing show competition experience. “I think I’m a really good coach for you in that sense.”

Chance was really “blown away” by her performance. “I think technically your skill level is way way beyond your years.” Weirdly, he says, “These folks don’t even know that song.” But even Blake pipes up, correctly, that Jennifer Hudson and Jennifer Holliday performed the number. So yeah, EVERYBODY KNOWS IT CHANCE! “I literally covered that song,” says Kelly, the queen of Kellyoke.

“My whole team dynamic is about individualism,” Chance says, breezing past the faux pax. “And just letting these people tell their own story.” If NariYella chose Team Chance, he would spend time “figuring out what you’re about, what your influences are. I’ll let you be yourself.”

Which team will NariYella choose? Will you be sad when Blake hits his button for the very last time? Watch The Voice Tuesday (March 21) at 9 pm on NBC.
