Alisan Porter dropped by Good Day LA on Friday to perform “Stay” from The Voice 10 winner’s 2014 album, Who We Are.
“Stay” is an emotional depiction of a special time in the singer’s life.
“This is a real event I wrote about becoming a mom,” Alisan explained to the Good Day hosts. “I wrote it with the amazing Matt Rawlings (her pianist) and our friend Drew McKeon.” Alisan added, “This is about my son…making that transformation and loving in that very special parent way for the first time.”
But although the song has a very specific and personal meaning for her, she thinks it explores a universal theme all can relate to, especially at this time of the year. “For the holidays we’re all with our families and it’s a moment to reflect,” she said. “You can use [the song] for a lot of things.”
