Eliminated The Voice 9 contestant, Korin Bukowski, sat down after the show to share why she became so emotional during her insta-save performance, to the point where she forgot her words several times during the song. She and fellow Team Gwen member, Brandon Sunshine, sang for the save. He received more twitter votes in a tight race, to advance in the competition.

“When you are bottom 2 two weeks in a row, it eats at you a little bit,” Korin explained. “Being there a third time, emotions just overwhelmed me a little too much.

The song, “Try” by Sara Bareilles, was special to Korin. “The lyrics in the song meant so much to me, mixed with everything I was feeling at that moment.”

On the coaches’ kind and encouraging words afterward, Korin said, “All their comments meant a lot to me. I know it’s hard to watch someone struggle with their song on stage. I’m sure it was hard to watch. But they were so supportive.”

“Gwen hit it, right on the nail. She knows me so well,” Korin said. Gwen Stefani, who was the only coach to turn for Korin during the Battle Rounds, and saved the singer from elimination during the Playoffs, said after Korin’s performance, “The reason she had that moment right there is because she’s real. She’s honest.”

Korin got teary when she talked about her dream of being on The Voice. “I remember watching the show. [I said] ‘One day I’ll be on that show,'” Korin teared up. “I never imagined it would be as rewarding as it has been. Never in a million years would I have thought I would get a chair.”

“Top 10 though?” she said amazed at by her journey. “Wow. It’s been so incredible. I’ve met amazing people. People I never thought I’d even get to meet, let alone have them teach me.”

Korin goes on to say that all the experiences she’s had and people she has met will be with her forever. On bonding with her coach, Gwen. “We get each other,” she said.

Her The Voice experience has given her confidence. “After years and years of being told I couldn’t do something, I finally get to prove to myself that I can.”
