The Voice 9 – Barrett Baber Sings “Angel Eyes” (VIDEO)

The Voice 9 - Barrett Baber Sings

FINALLY! A The Voice 9 sneak peek! The show returns on Monday, September 21 at 8/7c PM on NBC.

Country singer, Barrett Baber, got all 4 coaches to turn their chairs when he sang The Jeff Healey Band’s “Angel Eyes.” Adam Levine turned first, followed quickly by Blake Shelton. Gwen Stefani was next, and then Pharrell Williams.

When Blake asked Barrett what kind of music he does, the singer explained, “I’m trying to pioneer a new sound maybe, in country music, with some soul.” He added, “There’s some really great music out there, but I think there’s a place for me, for this voice.”

“YES GOD BLESS YOU!” cried Adam, moving in for the kill.  “I can tell by your vocals that you love all styles,” Adam enthused. “That’s why you’re one of my favorites.” Adam was practically jumping out of his seat, doing that “try hard” thing he always does.

Gwen pitched herself with the tidbit that she grew up on folk music and bluegrass. Pharrell admitted that he pressed his button because he heard so much soul, “Whatever this is, it deserves four chairs to turn…”

“The word I’m interested in is ‘country'” explained Blake. “That’s what I do with my life. I think a combination of you and I blazing a path…I’m not kidding, it’s like watching Garth [Brooks] up there.”

All the while, Adam shook his head. “I’m not going to let this happen!” he declared. “I will DESTROY for you! I am on FIRE for you! I want you on my team so badly.” Blake looked over, “Calm down!” Seriously dude. Find some chill!

But Adam was on a mission to win Barrett over. Will the country singer step out of his genre and choose Adam? You’ll have to tune in Monday night to find out!

For you Razorback fans:  A high school teacher from Fayetteville, Arkansas, Barrett does a pretty mean hog call…with a little help from his family.
