The Voice 7 Preview – Anita Antoinette – Turn Your Lights Down Low (VIDEO)

Another returnee makes a triumphant comeback in this The Voice preview, from tonight’s episode!

Reggae artist, Anita Antoinette, couldn’t get a chair to turn the first time around when she auditioned in season 3. But she’s back, 4 season later, to strike gold with her take on “Turn Your Lights Down Low” by Bob Marley.

This time, as the singer accompanies herself on acoustic guitar, coaches Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton waste no time turning their chairs. As Blake screams, “No. No. NO NO NO NO!” Pharrell Williams and Adam Levine hit their buttons too.

Literally, 30 seconds into Anita’s performance, all chairs are turned! All four coaches give her a standing ovation.

Adam and Blake recognize her and are happy she took their advice to come back to audition again. “I think I would have picked you back then,” says Gwen, “I would have had that instinct. I felt it right away.” Adam reminds her that he coached fellow Jamaican and The Voice 5 winner, Tessanne Chin.

Pharrell, as he is wont to do, turns the conversation BACK to Anita, asking her what kind of music she’d like to do (he’s a master at reeling them in!). “I love music that touches people,” says Anita. “That doesn’t have the glitz and the glamour, but just has the message…”

Gwen interjects, “I love you!…That’s just what I’m looking for. That’s what I want.” She adds that she’s a songwriter (As if the rest of the panel members aren’t. Heh.)

Pharrell would love to help Anita reach her lofty musical goals (See. He keeps his pitch focused on the Hopeful. Always.)

Blake pitches his country music bonafides in a bid to win over Anita.  Country music tells stories and touches hearts, he says. If Anita joins his team he’ll help her take the talent she has for emotional storytelling  even further.

Blake becomes immediately suspicious when Pharrell concedes that many roots/reggae artists cover country songs, therefore his fellow panel member could be a perfect fit for her. Maybe Pharrell is thinking, with only 3 more spots to fill on his team, he can afford to give up Anita to another coach.

“But you’re really an interesting artist,” Pharrell continues, “and I really want you.” So maybe not!

Who does Anita pick as her coach? Who do you think she’ll pick as her coach? You’ll have to wait until tonight’s episode to find out! Join Kelly as she live blogs The Voice tonight, beginning at 8/7c PM.
