It was another night of ho-hum The Voice Blind Auditions, but with some very bright spots! My favorites tonight: The smooth voiced blue-eyed soul singer, Chris Jamison, and the bluesy Amanda Lee Peers (I mean…only Gwen turned her chair around? REALLY?)
Speaking of chair tuning. How was it that Pharrell was STANDING ON HIS CHAIR for the sweet, but underbaked 15 year old, Katriz Trinidad? Eh.
Still, I’m loving the way he slaps down the cocky Adam Levine, for whom I’m beginning to feel sorry. Singers used to jump to be on his team, but not so much any more. Not only is Pharrell putting Adam in his place, but Blake is passive aggressively pointing out how he rarely wins a 4-chair turn. Adam is beginning to look a little desperate as he tries way too hard to convince singers to choose his team. It might be time for him to take a season off.
As far as attracting contestants is concerned, Pharrell has the right idea. Instead of touting his own accomplishments (Hello Blake and your wins and awards), or pointing out how much he has in common with the singer, (Gwen and her constant ME TOOOO!) he takes an interest in WHO the artist is, and promises he’ll help them be the best artist they can be. It’s flattering. I’d pick Pharrell too.
So that’s me. What do YOU think? Take the polls. And if you haven’t already, check out Kelly’s recap, including links to downloads and performance VIDEOS!
