Rocker girl, Kat Perkins, who placed in the top 5 of the most recent edition of The Voice has a new single out called “Fearless”
The tune hit radio and iTunes this week. Kat, a Minneapolis native, has a record release party set for September 26 at Mill City Nights.
In a recent interview posted on TwinCities.com Kat revealed that the new song captures her journey on the sixth season of The Voice. The experience of competing on a reality show incuded “…Taking a lot of chances and being fearless. I felt like when I got home if I could do that, I could do anything.”
The singer hasn’t stopped since leaving the show in May.
“It’s just been crazy,” she said. “I jumped back into nannying for a couple months and I just finished my last week.”
Yes, she went back to her day job after the competition, but not for long. She’s ready to put in the hard work needed to be a full time musician.
“It’s the summer of trying new things,” Kat said. “The experience was so inspiring that I just had to have a song that captures a lot of that, and I think ‘Fearless’ does.”
“It’s a dream come true,” she said. “I’m having a ton of much fun, but at the same time it is work. I keep forgetting that because I’m having so much fun and I’m so lucky to make a living off of what I love.”
The single, a Pink-like piano ballad, highlights her big voice. Listen to it right here.
