The Voice 24 Knockout: Tanner Massey RUDI, Chechi Sarai Vye for a Spot on Team Gwen Stefani

The Voice 24 Knockouts continue on Tuesday (Nov 7), including a trio of singers vying for a spot on Gwen Stefani’s Playoffs team.

Tanner Massey performs Shawn Mendes’ “In My Blood,” Chechi Sarai sings Jackson 5’s “Never Can Say Goodbye” and RUDI performs Silk Sonic’s “Smokin Out the Window.” Behind the scenes, Wynonna Judd serves as Mega Mentor during rehearsals with all of the coaches.

All three singers display different styles. Tanner is an emotional pop singer, while Cechi sings a throwback Motown tune from the 70s, complete with whistle tones. RUDI tackles a contemporary R&B song with sass and confidence.

John Legend calls Chechi’s voice “insane” and as an artist, “remarkably gifted.” He considers RUDI’s stage demeanor “authentic and cool.” He concedes that Tanner’s performance was not “pitch perfect” but it was “so perfect” when it came to emotional connection. Tanner was his favorite.

Reba McEntire compliments RUDI’s stage presence and ability to make an audience feel comfortable. She calls Tanner “cute as a button.” Although she didn’t understand all of the words “it didn’t matter.” She compares him to watching an opera star like Andrea Bocelli sing. You cry anyway, she says, even if you don’t understand the words.

“I still love you Niall!”

Niall Horan notes that for Chechi, “the connection between the head voice, the whistle tone, the lower bits” sound great individually, but are problematic when they “run into each other.” He adds, “the song choice didn’t help.” Niall reminds everybody that he let Tanner go in the Battles, and regrets it somewhat, but acknowledges “the growing” he’s done on the show. “I still love you Niall!” Tanner responds. Niall would choose Tanner.

Gwen calls Chechi “unique” and notes RUDI’s “crazy vocal ability.” And although RUDI is one of the strongest vocalists on Team Gwen, new member Tanner impresses with his ability to “channel emotion and lyric.”

Who will Gwen choose as the winner of the Knockout? Will she save one of the losers? Will another coach steal them? Tune into The Voice tonight (Nov 7) on NBC at 9 pm ET/PT to find out. The episode follows a 1 hour recap of Monday’s nights Battles/Knockouts show.
