Season 23 & 25 coach Chance the Rapper returns to The Voice to mentor the Top 12

The Voice Season 24 Top 12 go LIVE next week! But not without a special mentor.

On Friday, The Voice posted a clip featuring the current coaches John Legend, Reba McEntire, Gwen Stefani and Niall Horan “passing the phone” to the celebrity mentor for Top 12 week. And the celebrity mentor is none other than Chance the Rapper who served as coach on Season 23 last Spring. He’ll be returning to The Voice mid-season as a season 25 panelist.

“Surprise surprise!” says Chance in the clip. “I’m back!” The Voice Top 12 airs on NBC Monday December 4 (8 pm ET/PT) and Tuesday December 4 (9 pm ET/PT)

Chance will serve a second season as coach

Chance will join The Voice season 25 for a second season as coach alongside Reba McEntire, returning for her second season, Voice vet John Legend and newbies Dan + Shay. For the first time in The Voice USA history, the panel will feature a “double chair.” The country duo will assemble and coach a team as ONE unit. Dan + Shay also served as former coach Blake Shelton’s Battle Advisors in season 20 and took the touring Niall Horan’s place for Knockouts rehearsals on season 24.

The Voice season 25 is set to premiere on Monday, February 26 and Tuesday February 27. Fun fact: NBC finished taping Season 25 back in early October! Season 24 and Season 25 taped their shows pretty much concurrently. The final day of season 25 taping was a Playoffs episode on October 4. All that’s left now is to air the live shows. Last spring featured 40 contestants and two weeks of live shows. The Semi-Final contestants were decided via Instant Save before the finale! Hopefully NBC will present a longer season in 2024.

The Voice 24 has 3 weeks of live shows coming up

In the meantime, The Voice season 24 has three weeks of live shows coming up. See the full schedule HERE. The Voice Top 12 perform on Monday (Dec 4) and after an overnight vote, the show will reveal the Top 9 on Tuesday (Dec 5). Then, on December 11 and 12, The Top 9 perform, and a Top 5 will be unveiled the following night. The final 5 artists will compete for the crown on December 18.
