The Voice taped the Battle Rounds in July and are just now getting around to announce which celebrities will be assisting coaches Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Ariana Grande. But before the big announcement, the show is teasing fans with a guessing game. I mean, why not take a page from The Masked Singer! It works for FOX.
Now, there are no silly costumes involved, but each of the Battle Advisors answer questions posed by their respective coach. Visual and voice distortion is employed to hide their identities.
During the Battle Rounds, coaches pair up their team members for duets. This season there are 12 members on each team. Coach Battle Advisors help prepare the team members for their big showdown. Much is at stake, as the coach chooses one singer to move on, and the other to possibly go home (If they aren’t saved or stolen).
Ariana Grande: Mystery female advisor notes Dolly Parton, Carol Burnett, Julie Andrews and Ariana as a musical influences. Also, she recently visited the zoo and loved the cockatoo.
Kelly Clarkson: Mystery male advisor prefers performing in big arenas. Big clue: He won ACM Entertainer of the year. The peach is his nickname.
John Legend: Mystery female advisor’s proudest accomplishment is singing with her dad in Mexico City. Musical influence include Émile Sande, Rihanna.
Blake Shelton: Mystery male advisor’s musical influences are Keith Whitley, Randy Travis, George Jones. He performed on The Voice in 2019.
Can you guess who will be advising the coaches? I’m bad at this game. So I did what I always do and checked out the comments under the video. And the guesses are solid!
- Ariana: Either former coach Miley Cyrus or Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth. Dolly Parton is a big clue. She’s Miley’s godmother. And Oklahoma native Kristin loves gospel and country music. Consider that Ariana got her start on Broadway as a teen! Kristin at the zoo and paying homage to Dolly. Some think it’s Lady Gaga.
- Kelly: Country star Jason Aldean: He’s from Georgia (hence the peach nickname), has won ACM Entertainer of the Year three years in a row AND Kelly duetted with him on a HUGE hit “Don’t You Wanna Stay.”
- John: It’s probably Camila Cabello because she sang with her father in Mexico City. Dad is from Mexico City, and she lived there for part of her childhood.
- Blake: Hm. Male country artists who performing on The Voice in 2019: Darius Rucker, Toby Keith, Travis Tritt, Luke Combs, Trace Adkins, Kane Brown.
