Let’s GOOOO!

Results!

Team Blake takes center stage. TIME FOR DUMB QUESTIONS. Anna, who nearly died a couple of years ago, thanks Kelly and Blake for helping her believe in herself. Jordan wants to keep bringing exciting instrumentation to The Voice. Which of the artists is the highest vote getter? America saved…Cam Anthony! Blake says he’s got a special place in his heart for Pete. He’s excited by Jordan’s artistry and HE PICKS JORDAN MATTHEW YOUNG! Ok. I was SURE he’d pick Anna Grace. WRONG!

Team Nick takes center stage – Dana Monique loved the opportunity to cover iconic females singers. Andrew Marshall has learned so much from Nick. America saved…Rachel Mac! She is very very surprised. Nick saves Dana Monique!

Team Legend takes center stageRyleigh Modig will always remember John stealing her. She had to pick him. Pia Renee wants her kids to know that their passions and talents are not by coincidence. America saved…Victor Solomon! John saves Pia Renee.

Team Kelly takes center stage – Corey is so humbled to be here after not receiving a chair turn last season. Zae wants people to keep going and keep the faith that it will get better. America saved...Kenzie Wheeler. OF COURSE. Kelly made the decision based on last night’s performance. Kelly saves Gihanna Zoe.

The highest vote getters on each team of the remaining contestants and competing for the save: Pete Mroz from Team Blake, Anna Grace eliminated! Jose Figueroa Jr. from Team Nick Devan Blake Jones and Andrew Marshall are eliminated. Ryleigh Modig from Team Legend. Zania Aleke is eliminated. Corey Ward from Team Kelly. Zae Romeo is eliminated.

Save Me Performances

Pete Mroz – Speechless by Dan + Shay – Team Blake – He’s first. Not good for him. I’m not sure why, but I have a soft spot for Pete. Hopefully Blake will lend him a hand after the season ends. This performance is pretty flat. It’s a boring song pick to begin with. Save me situations are not the time to half-heartedly sing mid-tempo songs. Blake reiterates the two’s years long connection, and wants America to get behind Pete.

Jose Figueroa Jr. – Superstition by Stevie Wonder – Team Nick – Jose is trying a little too hard. He seems right on the edge. He keeps shouting out things like C’MON! That’s not the way to get votes. He whiffs a few high notes. Nick calls it an “electrifying performance” and insists that “America has to vote for Jose.”

Corey Ward – Lose You to Love Me by Selena Gomez – Team Kelly – Corey’s emotional and dramatic singing style is made for save me situations. And he does not disappoint, hitting soaring high notes and delivering amazing phrasing acrobatics. Kelly didn’t hear him rehearse it, and she is floored. “You are an incredible vocalist!” she begs America to vote for him.

Ryleigh Modig – It Will Rain by Bruno Mars – Team Legend –  Ryleigh is also very dramatic. Her vocal has a few pitchy spots. But she’s very present. Her tone and phrasing are wonderful. This contest is between Ryleigh and Corey, for sure. John loves her vibrato, her artistry and her potential. He wants America to give them a chance to work together some more.

Who wins the Save?

TIME TO VOTE! Go to The Voice official App and TheVoice.com!

Time for Pete to speak. “I’m not dead!” he jokes. He basically says that he knows that he’s leaving tonight. Blake blanches. “It’s not the last time I’m going to see you,” he promises. Jose thanks Nick for the support and the spiritual connection. Corey is humbled and thankful to work with Kelly. “I believe in you so much,” says Kelly. “Thank you and I love you,” Ryleigh says to John.

And the WINNER of the SAVE and moving on to the Top 9 is….Corey Ward! I voted for Ryleigh, but I’m not too mad that Corey won.

This Top 9 seems reasonable, but Blake should have saved Anna Grace instead of Jordan Matthew Young. She sang rings around him last night. It probably comes down to Blake having worked with Jordan from the beginning. Stolen contestants are often cannon fodder or take a back seat to original team members. The latter is what happened here, probably. Also, I wish Ryleigh Modig was still in it. But again, John seemed super attached to his original team members. Plus, Pia Renee had an off night this week. Overall, she’s been pretty great. John wasn’t wrong to save her.
