The Voice 19 Preview: Tamara Jade Covers Lizzo, Turns 4 Chairs (Video)

Tamara Jade The Voice 19 Blind Audition

With The Voice season 19 kicking off on Monday October 19, NBC has released a sneak peek Blind Audition. In it, R&B singer Tamara Jade earns a 4 chair turn for her performance of Lizzo’s “Cuz I Love You.”

Coaches Kelly Clarkson and John Legend turn their chairs immediately, with Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton following soon after. During prior seasons, friends and family would watch off stage with host Carson Daly as their loved one performed. But now, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Tamara’s family cheers her on from a remote location.

Kelly reminds Tamara that she was the first person to turn around “from the first note,” adding “You’re incredible…you’re going to be in the finale.” Kelly adds, “Everybody needs to be inspired right now. That’s why this is called The Voice. You want someone that really moves everyone. And that’s you.”

Blake is sure the singer can “win this thing,” while John is impressed with her phrasing and range. “I would love to coach you,” he says. Gwen believes she can help Tamara with her rap singing. Indeed, Tamara’s performance sagged a little during the rap parts.

All four judges loved Tamara’s witty and upbeat personality. Which coach will she choose? Find out when The Voice premieres on Monday October 19 at 8 pm on NBC.
