Tonight, John Legend and Blake Shelton will perform with their respective teams. Plus, Gwen Stefani will perform a medley of her big hits.

RESULTS: The Top 11 takes the stage. Jake Hoot won the streaming bonus. Second week in a row! Time for dumb questions. Katie Kadan hopes her fans saw a little bit of Chicago, a bit of church in her performance. Support for Kat Hammock in San Diego has been incredible, she says. America saved, from Team Blake….Ricky Duran! America also saved, from Team Legend…Kadie Kadan

Next, Team John LegendKatie Kadan, Will Breman and Marybeth Byrd perform How Deep is Your Love by The Bee Gees. That was shaky in spots, but there was some nice harmonizing.

RESULTS: The remaining 9 artists take the stage. The Voice experience has helped Joana Martinez grow and change as an artist. Will Breman finds changing up songs, fun. Plus, he believes artists must keep innovating. America saved…from Team Gwen…Rose Short! America also saved…from Team Kelly, Jake Hoot! No surprises yet.

Fifteen years ago, Gwen Stefani released her first solo album, Love. Angel. Music. Baby. She takes the stage tonight to celebrate. She performs Hollaback Girl. B.A.N.A.N.A.S and Rich Girl. Eve is a special guest! Carson presented a 15 million selling plaque to her from UMG. She and Carson have a MOMENT. “You’re doing great things…except for Blake,” Carson jokes.

RESULTS: The remaining 7 artists take the stage: Myracle feels like she can be “the voice for the voiceless.” She says, “everybody is going through a lot of hurt.” America saved…from Team Gwen…Joana Martinez. Welp. There goes my predictions again. America also saved…from Team Legend…Will Breman!!  Ha ha. My predictions are total crap.

Now, Team Blake SheltonKat Hammock and Ricky Duran sing the 70’s hit “Takin Care of Business” by Bachman Turner Overdrive. Now, this is truly a weird mix of voices.

RESULTS: The 5 remaining artists take the stage. Hello Sunday want their friends to know that they have a lot of stuff to balance. Shane Q says he was really comfortable with the song he performed last night. America picked a great song, he says. America saved…Marybeth Byrd from Team Legend. America also saved…Kat Hammock from Team Blake. America also saved…Hello Sunday from Team Kelly.

Shane Q and Myracle Holloway are Bottom 2! Now, they will sing for the Instant Save.

Shane Q – Jealous by Labrinth – Shane is delivering an impassioned performance. If he survives tonight, he and Kelly need to work on his confidence and stage presence. That was awkward. Blake says he’s a testament to how incredible the talent is this season. “How can this guy go home?” he asks. Kelly reminds America that he was a four chair turn. She thinks the pressure helped him pull out stuff we’ve never seen before.

Myracle Holloway – You Are So Beautiful by Joe Cocker – Her phrasing is real nice. She really brings a unique vibe to her performances. The end of the number, in particular, was masterful. Gwen says watching her use her gift is incredible. She belongs here, she says.

Shane is winning the vote 53% vs 47% for Myracle.  The numbers never budged during the voting window!

Before Carson gets down to the elimination, it’s time for team goodbyes. Shane thanks Kelly for all the great advice and feedback. “I’ve grown as a person,” he says, “Working with you, and all you guys really.” He’s going to keep applying what he’s learned to become a better version of himself. Myracle thanks Gwen for “everything you’ve instilled in me, the golden nuggets and jewels you’ve given me.” Gwen helped her get out of a shell she was in, and take off “layers and layers and really step out and do more than I could even do.” She adds, “This isn’t the end, it’s just a journey.”

Kelly doesn’t believe either should be in the bottom 2. “If you really count what happened last night, I really don’t think you two specifically deserve to be in this spot, technically as singers.” Kelly kind of gets up on her soap box. “This is called The Voice and when you’re on key and you’re doing your best and you’re soulful and you’re nailing it…I’m just really bummed for you all.” I wonder who Kelly thinks should have left the competition instead. Heh. “Sometimes you do your best and it just doesn’t work,” says Kelly.  “And that’s not because you weren’t good enough. It’s just ’cause it wasn’t your moment.” She doubles down, “This is so undeserving in my eyes. I think that you are the reason why this show exists. You are powerful, soulful, just gifted singers. And I’m super bummed for y’all.” OK Kelly!

Next, Gwen says to Myracle, “I am so honored to have you on my team. I am absolutely floored by your talent and your gift. You’re voice is just so unique and so beautiful…the way that you can connect with your heart.” Gwen goes on to say how people connect to the journey Myracle is on. “We all have pain, and we all have to go through pain to get to these incredible moments. And we had some of those moments on the show together.” Gwen admits that Myracle’s talent actually intimidated her at times, because her voice was so perfect.  “But you grew, though,” says Gwen. “It was magical to watch that. Last night you were absolutely flawless. You deserve to be here.”

Results! And as expected, Shane Q is safe! Myracle Holloway is eliminated.

Although my prediction this week was totally off, this result makes sense. Shane has some raw talent, but it’s painfully obvious that he lacks self-confidence. And it’s not even his size that’s the problem. (See: Kadan, Katie). He can’t be a compelling performer until he’s comfortable in his own skin. Myracle is a real pro with impressive vocals. The combo of that smokey rasp and unique phrasing is appealing. But her song choices were often old fashioned. And it doesn’t help that she shared the same musical lane with a singer on her own team, Rose Short, who is an even better singer.

It’s one of those seasons where I don’t have a favorite and am not really invested in who stays and who goes.
