Last night’s The Voice featured Top 24 and it was a lot to digest. Who to even vote for? Typically, the top vote getters on a team would advance. Now it’s mostly random other than the coaches continuing the tradition of advancing one member of their team as a wildcard.
I posted a Top 24 poll with 12 choices and I had a hard time picking. There are going to be more than a few surprises when Carson reveals the results tonight.
The Voice Season 16 Recap – Top 24 Live Blog and Videos
It was a brisk night of generally good performances. My Top 5 were: Maelynn Jarmon, Jej Vinson, Presley Tennant, Betsy Ade and Gyth Rigdon. I also enjoyed Mari and Selkii.
The days of iTunes charts meaning anything are long over, but it’s notable that only Gyth Rigdon from Team Blake charted with any significance. His recording of “I Want to Be Loved Like That,” at No. 23, is the only The Voice track in the Top 100 as of 9 am today. Maelynn Jarmon is at No. 115 with Fallingwater and Jacob Maxwell’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” at No. 153! I was not expecting that.
167. Dexter Roberts – Ain’t Nothing ‘Bout You
168. Kim Cherry – Waterfalls
185. Carter Lloyd Horne – Heartbreak Hotel
Also tonight: Kelly Clarkson sings her Uglydolls single “Broken & Beautiful” Plus, the winner of The Comeback Stage and an eliminated Cross Battle contestant face off in the insta-vote to become the 13th finalist.
The Voice Top 24 results airs at 9 pm ET on NBC.
