There were three Knockouts on tonight’s one hour The Voice and no steals. It was teased at the top of the show that Blake Shelton is the only coach with a steal left. But anybody paying attention at all knows they’d save that for the last knockout episode on Monday.
So instead we had three rather straightforward faceoffs. Two pairs were hopelessly mismatched. Blake set up the seasoned and soulful Adam Wakefield up against young Peyton Parker, who dedicated “Fallen Soldier” to her family. She barely understood what she was singing about.
Christina Aguilera had the ringer-like Tamar Davis, who sang backups for Prince and got her start with Beyonce in a pre-Destiny’s child outfit. This 34 year old has been in showbusiness most of her life. The performer who had to go up against her delivers mail as her day job. No contest.
Pharrell Williams‘ matchup featured two singers who would have a hard time making it to the finals, so really it didn’t matter who was chosen. But then, Pharrell does that typical thing of eliminating the best singer. In this case, heartthrob Nick Hagelin. Eye candy, we hardly knew ye! The winner, Moushumi, needs to up her game for the next round.
