The Sun: Louis Walsh AXED From X Factor UK

Dan Wootton claims Louis Walsh was AXED from The X Factor after 11 years. UPDATED!

It’s May and the time to announce X Factor UK Season 12 judging panel is near.

Louis himself announced last month that he is done with the show, but there was no official confirmation from the show bosses. The tabloid rumor mill suggested that finding a suitable replacement was the main problem.

The Sun’s showbiz editor Dan Wootton is teasing one of their main stories tomorrow – that Louis Walsh is definitely gone from the X Factor.

We know that X Factor and Syco have Dan Wootton and several other tabloid journalists on speed dial. The Sun is promoting this story as an exclusive, I think they got the scoop from the official sources. The article is behind a paywall, but I’m sure the content will be all over the internet by tomorrow. Also, Dan Wootton is sure that Cheryl Fernandez-Versini is definitely coming back for another season.

The tabloids also reported that Mel B wasn’t coming back for her second season on the panel. This leaves two spots on the judging panel open. Who could snatch those two chairs?

The tabloids recently reported that former X Factor judge Tulisa was in a pole position to return. Also, a while ago Tom Fletcher (from band McFly) was mentioned as a candidate for the job. This week’s newest name in the rumor mill? Demi Lovato.

Without a doubt, Simon and co. are looking for younger judges. Brilliant host Dermot O’Leary had to make room for Olly Murs and Caroline Flack and now they are about to replace the oldest male and the oldest female judge. Simon Cowell will likely be the only person over 40 in the line up.

I’m personally ready for this speculation to end.

Sunday Update:

‘They are close friends so Simon wanted to do this the right way,’ the source said to the publication’s Dan Wootton, adding that it went badly back in 2011 when he chose the show’s executive producer to tell Cheryl Fernandez-Versini that she had lost her job on the US X Factor panel.

Simon spoke to Louis and told him that it’s 95 per cent certain that he’ll be ‘stood down’ this year.

Another source close to the popular TV talent show added of the 62-year-old: ‘Viewers had become sick of Louis’ constant use of tired cliches and the same old jokes.’

They also claimed that the music manager was just ‘going through the motions’ in recent years.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom for Louis, whose main claim to fame other than X Factor is that of managing boybands Westlife and Boyzone.

He has apparently been earmarked by Simon for Ireland’s Got Talent, and may be tempted back to The X Factor as a music expert and behind-the-scenes aide.

The paper has reported that the 55-year-old music industry and TV mogul is keen to get Louis on the panel for the Irish version of his other hugely popular show Britain’s Got Talent, which would be filmed near his home in Dublin.

A source close to Louis is reported to have said that he’s happy with the decision.

As for who could possibly replace Louis it seems as though that the choice won’t be made until the “last minute”.

A source said: “The search for two new judges is now on. But we absolutely haven’t made any decisions.

“Simon likes looking at his options and choosing at the last minute. That’s how he always works.”
