The Masked Singer UK: The Monster Cee Lo Green is Revealed!

It was the semifinal episode for The Masked Singer UK on Saturday (Feb 8) and one of the two celebrities unmasked was none other than former The Voice coach Cee Lo Green!

The R&B singer performed as The Monster. Of the four judges, pop singer Rita Ora had Cee Lo’s number almost immediately. I don’t understand why her fellow coaches, chat show host Jonathan Ross and TV presenter, Davina McCall. US judge Ken Jeong didn’t get it, because Cee Lo’s vocal style is unmistakable.

And he literally gave the game away when a judge asked him a question after his performance and he literally sang “But maybe I’m crazy,” a snip of his 2006 smash hit with Gnarls Barkley. The coaches over thought that one.

Monster performed twice. He escaped the first elimination and sang again.

He performed “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me” by Culture Club first. I mean C’MON! Who else could Monster be? This is so Cee Lo!

He performed “Careless Whisper” as his second song, The first performance was definitely stronger. I was sure Hedgehog would get the boot.  His singing was the weakest of the night. But maybe I’m biased against who is assuredly an English celebrity I won’t recognize when he takes his mask off next week.

Cee Lo is a huge fan of the Masked Singer. He relished the opportunity to cover songs that he loved. Tunes he sang included: Pharrell Williams “Happy,” Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love” and Rag N Bone Man’s “Human.”

The majority of the 12 celebrities on the UK version of the show are British stars. But there are a few Americans thrown into the mix. For instance, my personal favorite, The Unicorn turned out to be Scissor Sisters singer, Jake Shears. Sadly, he was eliminated last week.

The final, featuring Queen Bee, Hedgehog and Octopus, airs next Saturday, February 15 on ITV.
