The Masked Singer season 5 is set to premiere in March, but the FOX series hasn’t begun to film its episodes yet. Unfortunately, host Nick Cannon has contracted Covid-19 and will have to sit some episodes out.
Niecy Nash will sub for Nick, hosting the first batch of episodes of the Fox competition reality series.
The news comes as production is set to start on season five on Thursday February 4 in Los Angeles, according to Deadline. Nick is expected to return to later episodes once he recovers.
Nash has history with the network; she was recently a guest panelist on The Masked Singer last season and was a panelist on I Can See Your Voice, a singing game show that also airs on the network. Nash has starred in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Scream Queens, The Bernie Mac Show and Family Guy.
The Masked Singer features judges Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke. The competition reality series involves celebrities facing off against one another while dressed from head to toe in elaborate costumes that mask their identities.
