The Masked Singer 13 Lucky Six Continues: Who Was Unmasked?
The Masked Singer season 13 continues with Nick Cannon as host, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Rita Ora on the panel.
The Lucky Six round continues, as the remaining five celebrities sing songs based on a Soundtrack of My Life theme. Boogie Woogie, Nessy, Coral, Pearl and Mad Scientist will take the stage. One celebrity will be unmasked by the end of the night.
First, the Top 5 took the stage to perform the classic “More Than A Feeling” by Boston. The lights go off and Lucky Duck takes the stage. “They have stolen something very valuable from you Robin.” One of the remaining five, but duckie doesn’t say who.
Coral
Clues: Former co-star is in disguise. He says they did a huge audition together six years ago. They did a chemistry read, which involved staring into each other’s lives. They became BFFs and co-stars.
Performance: Sk8ter Boi by Avril Lavigne – Her voice is Disney bland. Pleasant enough, but nothing special. She implores the audience to sing along. Coral says her parents have been there for her. I guess that’s a hint? Rita guesses Lizzie McGuire or Hilary Duff. Ken guesses Ashley Tisdale. Robin guesses Nina Dobrev.
Prediction: Lots of fans believe Coral is actress-singer Meg Donnelly from the Disney Zombies franchise.
Nessy
Clues: His daughter speaks. “But sometimes he can be cringe. He always posting on socials. A million reason why he’s the greatest. He taught her to drive a tractor. Don’t break a hip.”
Performance: Million Reasons by Lady Gaga – So dramatic tonight. But this type of song is 100 percent in Nessy’s wheelhouse. He’s surprinting not a great live singer. His voice cracked at one point. But he is very EMOTIONAL. He did all of it for his daughter. Ken guesses John Popper (Blues Traveler). Jenny guesses Uncle Kracker. Robin guesses Edwin McCain (THAT’S WHO IT IS.). Now that Robin nailed him two weeks in a row, and the show has set up a Golden Trophy contest between him and Jenny, I bet he’s going home.
Prediction: The internets agree with Robin. Nessy is Edwin McCain. The show has teased over and over that Nessy recorded a beloved love song, which is “I’ll Be” a singing show and wedding song favorite.
Boogie Woogie
Clues: Boogie’s wife shares she remembers how hard he took losing his mother. But her loss inspired his songwriting. She feels his work has helped others heal. He’s a light.
Performance: Golden Hour by JVKE – Boogie is entertaining. He could win the show, but Mad Scientist is a big competitor. He’s a good singer, performer and handles the tricky talky parts of the song with aplomb. He and his wife got to sing at sunset at the White House. Robin guesses Daniel Powter. Jenny guesses Charlie Puth. Jenny guesses Brandon Flowers (Killers)
Prediction: The interments are adamant that Boogie Woogie is singer Andy Grammer. His wiki says he busked in Santa Monica (a clue from week 1). Very obvious clues from week 2 included The Mirror Ball and dancing shoes. Andy competed in Dancing with the Stars. Also he is known for his positivity. Peep his Insta, he’s always offering uplifting messages.
More clues: Andy released an album titled “Naive.” This week, the “Bones” clue that had Ken guessing Ryan Tedder actually refers to Andy, who co-wrote the song. Additionally, Boogie Woogie spoke of his mother passing. Here’s an article about Andy’s mother passing. He launched a campaign in 2013 for women’s equality in her honor.
Pearl
Clues: She’s planning her daughter’s wedding. Her future son in law speaks. Pearl raised her daughter all by herself. She pitched a trailer. Movie cassette tape.
Performance: Your Love by The Outfield – This singer is doing a good job of hiding her identity. The panel will be SHOCKED when they find out who she is. Sticking to rock songs is smart. That rasp kinda gives her away, though. “The whole rock genre makes me feel strong.” Robin guesses Bonnie Tyler, Rita guesses Wynonna Judd, Jenny guesses Brandi Carlile.
Prediction: The internets say Pearl is “Red Necked Woman” singer Gretchen Wilson. She delivered big country hits in the aughts. Rita’s guess, Wynonna Judd is close….sooooo close.
Mad Scientist
Clues: His wife says she and the babies miss her. Also, she’s was an orphan. Chess board. The Scientist is her favorite song.
Performance: The Scientist by Coldplay – Unlike Pearl who is known as a country singer, Mad Scientist twangs up every song he performs, no matter the original genre. His strength is 100 percent his full, rich baritone. Boogie Woogie, his biggest competitor, is the complete package. He calls himself a party anthem kind of guy. Robin guesses Gary LeVox Ken guesses Kane Brown. Rita guesses Jelly Roll.
Prediction: The internets are convinced that Mad Scientist is Brian Kelley from Florida Georgia Line. One clue, a cruise ship, points the their massive hit “Cruise.” Also, Mad Scientist hints at being an athlete. Brian Kelley was scouted by baseball teams, but ended up writing and playing music instead. During a previous clue package, he seemed to be talking about the bitter break up with his duo mate, Tyler Hubbard. “Party songs” was a clue this week. Florida-Georgia Line was all about the trucks, girls and beer.
The RESULTS. A celebrity is UNMASKED. Who is it?
Nick calls “the vote” the closest in Mask Singer history. Less than 1 percent. But wouldn’t you know it. The celebrity who will be unmasked tonight is Nessy. I’m sensing a pattern. “Celtic knot heavily influenced his career.” Final guesses. Jenny: Johnny Resnick. Robin: Edwin McCain. Rita; Dave Matthews Ken: John Popper.
And Nessy is….Edwin McCain! SURPRISE. Not. Edwin says the costume was very HOT and SWEATY. Of course he sings out with his one-hit-wonder “I’ll Be.”
