Check out thebluemartini’s photos HERE. After the concert, she, her cousin and mom met the Idols by the barricades.

I should probably start this off by saying this recap is probably going to be a total FANGIRL review, because I get really fangirly when it comes to the Idols, haha.

So some background information-I’m 17 years old and I am a complete Idol addict. I’ve been attending an Idol concert with my mom each year since Season 4. It’s become an annual tradition for us, and this year was no different. We live in Houston and were quite mad to discover the Idols were not coming here! The closest concert was Dallas-and we just had to go even though it would be a 5 hour drive! Well we did it-and it was so worth it!

For this concert, my cousin came with us (not by choice). She’s a casual AI fan-usually she watched Biggest Loser on Tuesday nights-changing the station occasionally to AI-and then she’d watch the AI results shows. She’s one of those people that just can’t understand my obsession with this crazy tv show. She did however vote for Kris in the finale and was very happy to see him win. So she was a bit excited to see him.

We arrived at the venue at about 4:15 PM. I, being one of those AI crazies, came wearing a t shirt I made to show my support for KRADISON!! We went over to the barricades to see the people that had already met some of the idols that came out earlier and we saw all the people come out from their meet ‘n greet with the idols (none of them looked happy coming out-I mean, seriously, you just met all the idols, and you’re not happy?!?! I would be on cloud nine!)

So at around 5 we got in line and one of the doors. We were near the beginning of the line. I could hear music coming from inside and they were all songs I knew the idols were going to be singing tonight so I figured they were soundchecking. Some people around us started playing some Adam videos on their phones, so that was fun to listen to. Finally 5:30 came around and we were let in the doors! YAYY!

We headed straight to the merchandise (just gotta have my idol merch). We bought a lot of stuff’ ¦the downside of absolutely loving this year’s top two? I had to buy 3 tshirts. OY’ ¦these idols are sucking the money out of me. The guy getting us our stuff calculated the total amount of money’ ¦.and it was a completely outrageous amount. A total that did not make sense to us. So after we left we decided to calculate it ourselves and discovered that he overcharged us $40. So we went back and told him. He did give us our money back’ ¦YAY!

So we walked around the venue-and I was very saddened to see that this year, I could not take my picture with a cardboard cutout of the idols L I mean, if I can’t get a photo with the real idols, at least I could take my picture with a cardboard version of them! Ah, well’ ¦what can you do.

We finally got to our seats, which were on the side of the stage-stage right, row V. I always like to be on the side of the stage best, since it’s impossible for me to get really good floor seats.

Then began the repeating Idol music videos on the screen-they showed David Cook’s video a total of 3 times’ ¦and me and my mom screamed all 3 times for it. Yep, we’re those crazy screaming people too. Which I think totally annoyed the people in front of us. 2 rows in front of us, these younger girls kept turning around to stare at us’ ¦

Then they would show the idols pictures! Major screams from us when they showed Allison, Adam, and Kris. We got people to scream with us for that! Haha.

The lights are about to go down when the woman sitting in front of us tells us that she is Michael Sarver’s cousin and asked that if we could scream for him. Well the show was starting and my brain was all like WHOA, WAIT, WHATTT? YOU’RE MICHAEL’S COUSIN?! I didn’t really know what to say to that. Then the idols ford music videos came on the screen and they did the whole text to win and meet them after the show. Now, I am not one of those amazingly fast texters-I’m really slow-so I’m trying to text and the show is starting! And they want me to answer a trivia question-and GRRR! I’M MISSING THE START OF THE SHOW! *sigh*

So once I finally get a text saying I did not win, I finally can focus on the show! Michael started off the show really well. His two songs were good, and we were his home state, so he got a good reception! He kept looking our way and waving, probably because his cousin was sitting in front of us.

Megan then came out looking like she was Elle Woods. I thought she did well on both of her songs, although I didn’t know her second song.

Scott did good too. I don’t know’ ¦for some reason, when I see the Idols live, it’s just an automatic love for them all even if I didn’t like them when they were on the show. Or maybe they’re better because now they’re getting a lot of rehearsal by doing these songs all the time and the pressure is off.

Then Lil came out. Her 3 songs were great! She got everyone groovin’ with ‘Single Ladies’ .

ANOOOOOOOP! Anoop was awesome! I absolutely love him singing ‘Always on my Mind’ .

Then Matt came out-another one of those idols I didn’t really care for on the show-but he sounded great!

The group songs were great’ ¦and then BAM! The first half was over. It flew by so fast!

So for the whole first half of the concert, me and my mom have been screaming our heads off and we were standing for most of it. I turned to my cousin and ask her if she’s been enjoying the show. And she says ‘Yes-I simply don’t express it as much as you.’ And the woman in front of us turns around and thanks her. Uh Oh. Looks like we’re annoying her’ ¦but my favorites were coming up in the second half! I was not going to hold back my screams! Then this was when David Cook’s video came on again (we scream) and the woman in front of us says something like ‘Sheesh! This is the 3rd time and you’re still screaming!’ Whoops. I guess she really isn’t enjoying sitting in front of us’ ¦

The show begins again! And here comes my girl Allison!! She was just amazing’ ¦her set went by wayyy too fast! She totally rocked it out and I think most people were standing up.

Then comes Danny’ ¦didn’t really care for him on the show. He sounded fine to me-my mom thinks he sounded better on the show. He had that little preachy speech about dreamers’ ¦it was too Joel Osteen-esque for me.

Then it was time for the man that is Adam Lambert. I think most people were there for him so of course everyone was going nuts in anticipation. My cousin finally stood up for the first time, whispering over to me ‘I know who’s coming up next!’ And Adam was just amazing. Words cannot describe his amazingness. Then Allison came out to sing with him and it’s just adorable to see those two together. And his set ended’ ¦SADNESS.

But then it was time for the man that is Kris Allen! He was spectacular! I, too, didn’t understand that curtain thing, but my attention was just focused on Kris. I stood up for most of his set’ ¦my cousin actually did scream for him, which was her first time screaming that night! I loved Kris’s set of songs. More SADNESS when his set ended.

GROUP NUMBER TIME! Which was fabulous. I was a bit sad that Adam didn’t go as high as he has in the videos of other concerts I’ve seen. But I know he can’t wear out his voice, so it’s all good!

Then it was all over. It felt like a blur.

Now it was time to rush out to get a spot against the barricades!

Right after the group number, I bolted out of there’ ¦I got to the barricades and saw that there were already people all up against the barricades. Apparently, they were of course Adam fans that left before Kris’s set. I got a spot right behind this little boy and his mom, who were very nice Adam fans!

Pretty soon there were tons of people waiting outside. There must’ve been 4 or 5 rows of people behind the barricades. It was total madness. When I waited to meet the idols last year in Houston, it wasn’t nearly as crazy as this! Probably because this was all of Texas this year, haha. (Note: There needs to be more than 1 Texas concert date!!).

So we’re starting to get all squished as we wait forever. My cousin than tells me that she felt the concert was better than she thought it was going to be =) We talked a bit to the Adam fans in front of us, and then the security people inform us that the ladies were not going to be coming out. NO ALLISON=SADNESS.

Minute after minute go by’ ¦and what’s this? LIL AND ALLISON ARE COMING OUT!! What is up with security lying to us? Are Lil and Allison not considered ‘ladies’ ?

Allison came by first and I got her to sign this picture I had of the top 10 idols-I reached out and touched her arm.. Then coming down from the right side is Megan’ ¦I couldn’t see at all who was coming from the right side, and the people down on the right side failed to scream out the name of who was coming. So it was always a surprise to see who would suddenly appear in front of me!

When Lil came by, my mom asked Lil how the tour was going and she said it was going good! Then Matt came out. He hugged a girl near us and she began to cry’ ¦AWW. I understand the feeling.

Suddenly Anoop appeared in front of me! He was sweet. And Scott came by. I said ‘Hey Scott!’ to him and he turned his face in my direction and I asked him how he was, but then it got too crazy to talk to him. It was too crazy to really talk to any of the idols. I was able to have a conversation with the idols last year but total madhouse this year!

Danny came by and he kept talking about how he wished he had more hands to sign everything for everyone.

Pretty soon Kris and Adam came out’ ¦MADNESSSSS!

Kris came by us first-the same time Michael was near us, to which I had to choose between the two of getting their autograph-haha, I went for Kris of course! So sadly, Michael was the only idol I did not get an autograph from!

I reached out and touched Kris-haha. There’s just a sensation you get from touching your idols! Then Kris looked me directly in the eyes and gave me the cutest smile ever. I just about died’ ¦

Adam finally came by-and we got super squished. I made sure I touched him too! Haha. He gave a really cute smile to the little boy in front of me-who had an Adam shirt on, his nails painted black, and wearing fingerless gloves. It was so sweet to see.

Then it was midnight and it was time for the idols to go. More Sadness. But it was one of the best nights of my life. They are all just so charming in person! It was so great to see them all live in concert and meet them afterwards.
