“We weren’t trying, but we are so excited. It’s going to be a whole new chapter in our lives.”Season 20 Bachelor Arie Luyendyk Jr. and fiancée Lauren Burnham are expecting their first child, the couple revealed exclusively to Us Weekly.
“I kind of had a feeling that I might be pregnant. So my friend insisted on bringing a pregnancy test over,” Lauren told Us, adding that she made her fiancé read the results. “Arie came out with the test in his hand and tears in his eyes. He was like, ‘You’re pregnant!’”
Fans of The Bachelor remember the drama around 2018 season. Arie chose Becca Kufrin on the finale only to break up with her months later after realizing he REALLY wanted to be with runner-up Lauren. The couple are set to tie the knot in Hawaii January 2019.
Lauren took 7 pregnancy tests just to make sure she really was with child. “We weren’t trying, but we are so excited. It’s going to be a whole new chapter in our lives,” said Arie.
Pregnancy hasn’t been easy for Lauren. “October was miserable. I had really bad morning sickness and barely left the house,” she said. “But over the last week I’ve started feeling a lot better, so it’s nice to have my energy back.”
“The first thing we thought of was, ‘Oh my gosh. Our wedding,’” Lauren said. “Obviously we’re not married yet, but this is the way it happened — and this is probably the way it was meant to happen!”
The ABC Bachelor Nation wedding special hasn’t been announced yet. But stay tuned–surely the announcement is coming. According to Lauren’s Instagram, the baby is due in June.
